Update: We visited M'Dears just after New Year’s. Our young adults said the pancakes were mediocre and tasted odd to them. I tried some of the pancakes, and I thought they tasted good. I ordered Reggie’s Vegetables, which turned out to be quite bland. Most of the vegetables, like peppers, onions, and broccoli, were raw. The home-style potatoes were the highlight of the meal. The only thing that made it better was the eggs—both overeasy and scrambled—that our children shared with me since they don’t eat them. We suspected our waiter was new because we had to ask a couple of times before we finally received our warm water. This time, we paid the bill after the meal, which was different from our experience on Mother’s Day in 2024.
For our Mother’s Day celebration at M'Dears in Los Angeles, the atmosphere was very neighborhood-friendly, and you could tell they support many local businesses. A good number of people came out to celebrate the occasion. The value and portion sizes were well-balanced. They served some delicious drinks, especially one called the New Orleans Hurricane. The French toast, chicken sausage, and hotcakes were all tasty. I also tried salmon croquettes and fried snapper, but both were dry and lacked rich flavor. Overall, we enjoyed the food and were fully satisfied, so we decided to return to M'Dears in the future. The menu is extensive, and there are plenty of sweet options, like banana pudding.
