Video: The Joy Of The Table

"Each day, the crowds converge on Meat Smith where two Southern Pride smokers turn out traditional American barbecue staples of steaks, briskets and ribs. Accompanied by a rock ‘n’ roll playlist and beers by the pint, the atmosphere is boisterous and unpretentious." - Rachel Tan

Went here on a Saturday night from a friend’s recommendation and so glad we did! The atmosphere is nice, the perfect elevated casual feel. There was a mix of families, couples, and friends filling the restaurant. The service was great from the moment we sat down to the moment we left. Since it was our first visit, we decided on the meat platter for two to ensure we could try a bit of everything. Everything was great, with the chickenpops and jalapeño sausage being surprise favorites along with the brisket and pulled pork. The ribs were good, but I would’ve preferred ordering them “dry,” which is an option. No surprise the cornbread was delicious as were many of the sides. As you can see/read, we enjoyed it all! The only items we could’ve passed on were the sides of Mac N Cheese and Corn, but neither were “bad.” We look forward to coming back and will have to try the burger next time, as they sounded and looked 10/10. Definitely recommend this place!

They know their meats! If feeling the need for variety and quality, this is an excellent place to let your inner carnivore feast and celebrate. Will be one of my sinful places to indulge once in a while. I would skip the pork ribs though.. they seem to do everything else very well.

Ordered on grab and service was really helpful. They told me the delivery would be delayed severely and this is no fault of theirs. Brisket is hella good. With the sauce. A bit dry by the time it came but that's only understandable right. Burgers were killer good. Double patty. Will splash out for wagyu next Slaw was nice, fries are nice. The corn la... the corn is so good!! Lemon tart is superb. Only corn bread was a bit sad today. I really enjoyed this

Got the premium platter for 2 and it seemed like it was actually good for 4. Well-seasoned and good portioned meats. Excellent customer service too. There was not a time when my glass of water was empty. They also have a wide variety of pilsners, cocktails, and beers. Good for date night, a fancy dinner out. Price and quality and satisfaction!

Came here for a lunch on their restaurant week menu. Food was great and the dishes pair well with each other. The desserts were particularly great. We managed to get one of each to try and share. For $38++, it was value-for-money and we got some extra chicken tickets and free-flow sparkling water at $3 per pax.

This is the secondary brand of Burnt Ends. Although it hasn’t earned a Michelin star, it already carries the full arrogance of one. Regardless of how the food is, the service is downright poor. We arrived at the restaurant at 12 noon on a weekend. There were only two other guests. After the waiter seated us, I pulled my chair back slightly (less than 10 cm) to sit more comfortably. The waitress came over and said that the bar was behind me, and that moving back less than 10 cm affected the aisle space between the bar and the seat. Fine, I didn’t know how many people would sit at the bar during lunch(the fact is nobody sat there whole lunch time)but I tried to be understanding and said I would change to another seat. I moved to the sofa seating instead(picture1)which faced a walkway and wouldn’t affect others. However, after sitting on the sofa, the table was still very close to the seat, making it very uncomfortable to sit — it felt cramped and tight (I’m of average build, neither fat nor skinny). So I pushed the table forward by just 5 cm. The same waitress came again and said I couldn’t do that because it would affect the walkway. At this point, I was very annoyed. I asked her: “Excuse me, but it’s an empty passageway behind us. How does this affect others?” Secondly, I didn’t move it much, just 5 cm. How much difference does that make for someone walking by? Third, there are no guests now — why can’t we sit comfortably for our meal, and if someone does come later and is affected, we can adjust then. The waitress kept insisting their restaurant was very popular, and that’s why the seating had to be arranged so tightly. But in reality, no one sat near us until we had finished eating — only then did someone sit at the tables beside the walkway behind us. I really want to ask the restaurant: if your seating arrangement doesn’t allow guests to dine comfortably, and your waitstaff are so arrogant, what’s the point of having good food? Even more ridiculous — when the main course was served, they forgot the side dishes. Only when we were finishing our mains and dessert was about to be served did the waiter notice that the next table received side dishes, then came to tell us ours were forgotten and offered to pack them for us. Honestly, this restaurant deserves nothing but a poor review.

Terribly grumpy staff, one waitress was smiling and the rest were roleplaying Saint Laurent models. Waiter stared at me like I committed a crime when I asked for tap water. You don't get your money up drinking sparkling water; tap in or tap out, buddy 💧. Food was decent. I liked the cornbread, meat was medium rare. Chips were a little on the short side.

Perfect spot for meat lovers and group hangouts! Meatsmith at Telok Ayer is a warm and cozy restaurant that’s ideal for gatherings with friends—especially if you’re into protein-packed dishes. We shared the signature meat platter and grilled fish, and every bite was spot-on. The BBQ beef brisket and pork ribs were absolute standouts—tender, smoky, and full of flavor. Even the sides impressed us: crispy chips, refreshing coleslaw, and a perfectly baked potato jacket. Whether you’re planning a group dinner or just craving serious barbecue, this place won’t disappoint!
