The 16 Best Restaurants In Palermo - Palermo - The Infatuation

"Palermo is full of ancient artifacts that’ll make you feel very young in the grand scheme of things. But here, you’ll find some that will make you feel very old: a private collection of vintage Apple products from the Jobs Foundation. This fine dining spot that’s housed inside a renovated 16th-century palazzo does tasting menus (including a vegetarian selection) and à la carte dining from one of Palermo’s most celebrated chefs, Carmelo Trentacosti. Expect seasonal dishes like pumpkin with fermented black garlic, miso, and mustard gelato, or cuttlefish with spring fava beans and sweet peas. Make a reservation for a night you’ll want to celebrate something special, even if that’s just being old and wise enough to remember when computers looked like this." - linda sarris

"Occupying a 16C palazzo practically opposite the splendid cathedral in the heart of monumental Palermo, this unusual restaurant is accessed via a number of steps and shares space with an exhibition dedicated to Steve Jobs. Here, three elegant dining rooms with frescoed ceilings are surrounded by memorabilia and photographs that recall the professional career of this computer genius. In this setting, chef Carmelo Trentacosti focuses on Sicilian recipes and ingredients that he reinterprets with a personal twist, such as the famous caponata which is transformed into a creamy sauce (in the shape of the Apple logo) and seasoned with grated Modica chocolate which can be enjoyed with sourdough bread. An excellent cheese trolley (available before the dessert course) and attentive service complete the picture. At the end of your meal, ask to be shown the view of the piazza from the balcony – the perfect way to end a very special evening." - Michelin Inspector

"This fine dining spot that’s housed inside a renovated 16th-century palazzo does tasting menus and à la carte dining (for groups of five or fewer) from one of Palermo’s most celebrated chefs, Carmelo Trentacosti. Dishes feature seasonal creations like the pumpkin with fermented black garlic and miso paste or a sweet rhubarb dessert with raspberry mousse and star anise meringue. Everything about our evening at MEC was simply perfect — from the refined ambience and impeccable service to the creative and flawlessly executed tasting menu. The restaurant’s location inside an elegant Sicilian palazzo adds a sense of timeless grandeur, yet the space simultaneously celebrates modernity through its exhibition of Apple’s design history. This unexpected blend of past and future creates a unique and captivating atmosphere. Each dish was a masterpiece, beautifully presented and rich in flavor — thoughtful, balanced, and deeply evocative of both tradition and innovation. The staff were knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making the whole experience feel personal and memorable. Dining here feels like being part of a story — of art, technology, and gastronomy seamlessly intertwined. Absolutely worth a visit for anyone who appreciates fine dining at its most inspired.

Dining at MEC in Palermo was an unforgettable experience — not just a meal, but a journey through creativity, precision, and emotion. From the moment I entered, I could feel the calm elegance that defines Michelin-star dining: minimalist design, soft lighting, and impeccable attention to detail. The staff welcomed me with warmth and professionalism, making me feel truly taken care of throughout the evening. I chose the tasting menu, and each course was a small work of art — visually stunning and bursting with flavor. The combination of local Sicilian ingredients and modern techniques was impressive. One of my favorites was the red prawn dish — delicate, sweet, and beautifully balanced. The wine pairing was exceptional, highlighting the best of Sicilian vineyards. Every bite felt intentional, every flavor told a story. Even the pacing of the meal was perfect, allowing time to savor and reflect. The dessert was a masterpiece — light, elegant, and full of contrast. MEC is more than a restaurant; it’s an experience that celebrates Sicily in its most refined form. If you appreciate culinary art, this place is absolutely worth it. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Maybe Apple is backing this restaurant? There’s Steve Jobs/Apple memorabilia everywhere & Im not sure why. Food wise, they excel at seafood—the 1st bites were all seafood & all tasty. There was a pumpkin dish w mustard ice cream that did not work. Lamb needed flavor, seasoning. Potage was great, risotto was great. Our server had really squeaky shoes. The som was super nice. Wouldn’t go back.

A wonderful experience at MEC, from the moment we arrived, till when we left. A warm and friendly welcome, we were shown to our table and offered an explanation of the menu. A discrete entrance to the building, opposite the beautiful historic buildings of Palermo. The restaurant is in an Apple museum, which is a little strange as it's got nothing to do with the food, city or culture. I'm not sure the relevance and don't think it adds anything to the experience. The service was attentive, professional and friendly at all times which was excellent. We opted for the tasting menu, and they allowed us to have 1 vegetarian and 1 meat menu which is usually against the norm. The appetisers and bread was interesting, and each course was explained and unique in it's own way. The wine menu was extensive, and reasonably priced, so we went with a recommendation rather than opting for the wine pairing. Everything was excellent. Amazing flavour, well seasoned and different. The vegetarian Wellington was the best we've ever tasted, pasta was amazing and everything accompanying. Overall, whilst it was expensive, and not exactly traditional local food, the produce was of very high quality, unique and highly recommended.

The experience at this restaurant was, overall, underwhelming — especially given the high expectations and premium price point. The concept is introduced as a tribute to Steve Jobs, briefly mentioned upon arrival. However, the idea isn’t explored or referenced again throughout the evening. This left us puzzled, as the theme didn’t reflect in the atmosphere, service, or storytelling in any meaningful way. The wine list is extensive — in fact, a bit overwhelming. We were presented with a very thick catalogue, and when we asked for assistance, the guidance felt limited. We found ourselves having to lead the conversation and ask very specific questions to find a wine that suited our preferences. At this level, we expected more proactive and personalized recommendations. We opted for the tasting menu, which seemed promising. While the presentation of the dishes was striking, the flavors often didn’t live up to the visual appeal. Some courses lacked depth, and overall, the selection didn’t quite align with our palate. On a positive note, the service was courteous and attentive throughout the evening. It wasn’t a bad experience, but it fell short of the standard we anticipated — especially for a restaurant with such a strong concept and pricing to match.

It was one of the worst experience in a Mechlin star restaurant. Cold atmosphere, it seems stuff doesn’t care about clients. They don’t make your serviette. The toilet is terrible. The cheese plate was bad because they don’t keep most of the cheese right and it tastes like old from the fridge. I really don’t understand why they have a star. Oh, and by the way, don’t order Bellini cocktail, they don’t know how to make it.

We had a pleasant evening at MEC Palermo, where the service was undoubtedly the highlight. Special thanks to Gaspare, whose warm and attentive approach made us feel truly welcomed and well looked after throughout the night. While the tasting menu didn’t fully meet our expectations in terms of flavor, the professionalism and hospitality of the staff left a lasting impression. For those who appreciate exceptional service in a refined setting, MEC is certainly worth a visit.

Absolutely extraordinary! MEC in Palermo has redefined our expectations of fine dining. From the moment we stepped inside, we were captivated by the breathtaking space – a true feast for the eyes. But what truly elevated our experience to a solid 5 stars was their exceptional hospitality and culinary artistry. Traveling with a 2 and 4-year-old can be challenging, especially when seeking out Michelin-starred restaurants. MEC, however, welcomed our little ones with open arms. Their staff went above and beyond to ensure our children were comfortable and entertained, making us feel completely at ease. This level of attentiveness is rare and truly appreciated. The culinary journey was nothing short of spectacular. Each dish was an explosion of flavor, a testament to the chef's mastery. We were particularly impressed by their willingness to accommodate our request for two different tasting menus – a flexibility they don't usually offer. Every bite was a masterpiece, perfectly showcasing the vibrant flavors of Sicilian cuisine. MEC truly lives up to its star, and then some. It's not just a restaurant; it's an experience. We left with full hearts and satisfied palates, knowing we had witnessed something truly special. If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience in Palermo, look no further than MEC.
