Med Salleh Kopitiam - Review - Queensway - London - The Infatuation

"Med Salleh Kopitiam, a Malaysian spot in Queensway, takes its food and its satay seriously. The chicken is deeply marinated and its peanut sauce has an intense roasted flavour that combines sweetness and chilli. In the realm of foods on a stick, it's high up there. Although it's attached to the bottom of a hotel, the restaurant feels purpose built for lots of friends and lots of family. It’s a many-roomed, wood-panelled, cavernous space that could easily fit every generation, and the daily all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet (which spans turkey sausages, baked beans, and hash browns to nasi lemak and chicken congee) feels representative of the kind of spot this is. Something for everyone. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Pause Unmute Food Rundown Nasi Lemak Med Salleh runs a breakfast buffet every day and, alongside the chicken congee, the nasi lemak is the best thing you can get. Moreish coconut milk rice, fiery sambal, dressed salad, sliced cucumber, and egg. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Satay Chicken It’s clear that care and attention is given to the chicken on a stick here. The tender meat is yellow from a thorough marinating and caramelised to the point of char on the edges. Similar thought (and flavour) is in the peanut sauce as well. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Char Kuey Teow A pile of piping hot stir-fried noodles rarely goes down badly and this char kway teow is good, if a little on the safe side. Some caramelisation and wok hei would take this to the next level, but it's pretty generous on the prawn front. It's an enjoyable plate of noodles. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch" - Jake Missing

7 London Buffets That Are Actually Quite Good - London - The Infatuation

"How do you like your laksa in the morning? At Med Salleh Kopitiam, it’s sweet with a whisper of curry paste heat. You’ll find the Malaysian canteen’s breakfast buffet inside the Berjaya Eden Park Hotel in Bayswater everyday from 8am-11am—and it’s a gem for anyone who wants to mix hash browns with a bowl of comforting chicken congee first thing. Ayam goreng, cornflakes, and nasi lemak are all accounted for and while this isn’t the most consistent cooking of Malaysian classics we’ve had in London, it’s a pretty good haul for £15." - sinead cranna, jake missing, heidi lauth beasley, rianne shlebak

The 13 Best Malaysian Restaurants In London - London - The Infatuation

"Chicken satay is one of those dishes where mass mediocrity has been quietly accepted in London. But Med Salleh Kopitiam, in Queensway, takes its food and its satay seriously. It’s clear that care and attention is given to the chicken on a stick. The tender meat is yellow from a thorough marinating and caramelised to the point of char on the edges. Other things on the menu like char kway teow and fried chicken are similarly respected, meaning it’s hard to eat a bad meal here. Given the restaurant’s size—it’s a many-roomed, wood-panelled, cavernous space—you’ll be comfortable no matter what." - rianne shlebak

The 16 Best Restaurants In Paddington - London - The Infatuation

"Good chicken satay is hard to come by. It’s one of those dishes where mass mediocrity has been quietly accepted in London. But Med Salleh Kopitiam, a Malaysian spot in Queensway, takes its food and its satay seriously. The tender meat is yellow from a thorough marinating and caramelised to the point of char on the edges. It’s flavoursome enough to eat on its own, if similar thought didn't go into the peanut sauce. Other dishes, like char kway teow and fried chicken, are similarly respected. It’s a many-roomed, wood-panelled, cavernous space that could easily fit every generation of your family." - jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna

I had such a wonderful experience at Med Salleh Kopitiam. The food is absolutely excellent – everything is full of flavour, freshly prepared, and really captures the authentic taste of Malaysia. The menu has a great variety of dishes, and each one we tried was cooked to perfection. The restaurant itself has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with a lovely, relaxed setting that makes it just as nice for a casual meal as it would be for a special occasion. The staff were attentive, friendly, and genuinely made us feel looked after throughout the visit. Considering the quality of the food, the generous portions, and the overall experience, the prices are very reasonable. It’s rare to find a place that balances flavour, service, and value so well. Highly recommend Med Salleh Kopitiam to anyone in West London looking for delicious Malaysian food and a great dining experience. I’ll definitely be coming back!

I really enjoyed this good quality malasian restaurant after trying their Earl’s court Vietnamese place. I loved the fish cakes - it’s a starter, please try if you like crispy chewy delicious things! I had the mixed noodles (number 40? Second from the bottom on noodles) and the mix seafood special rice. Both were delicious. Lime tea was also delicious.

We really enjoyed it here. The food was amazing. The ambience was lovely, the service was pleasant. We ordered the Curry Laksa Noodles and Hainanese Chicken Rice. It was filling, delicious, and definitely worth the money. Would go there again and can strongly recommend it.

好好吃🤤好适合夏天!服务友好,价格实惠!! Super delicious Malaysian food 😍Visit here twice when we only spend 1.5 day in London. I will miss the curry Laksa noodles very much. Their business also have one Vietnamese restaurant called Med Salleh Viet-Westbourne Grove that have fresh prawns and mango salad, and my favorite Vietnamese Pho with tender beef 🍜 . 😍 All staff are welcoming and friendly even though they are very busy. I know why this restaurant has been so popular for decades !!

Absolutely lovely service and very accommodating with dietary needs. Staff are very knowledgeable about their menu and food allergies. Recommendations where made on what to avoid and what should be chosen. Food was well presented and delicious. I personally would have preferred a little more seasoning and spice, but this would alter the Malaysian taste. Overall a very authentic restaurant and worth a visit.

Recommended by a friend and this is not a disappointing trip at all! Food is very authentic and walking into the restaurant I can already smell the south East Asian food smell. And if you can hear Asian accent in an Asian restaurant, it can’t go too wrong. Good price given the location as well. I would definitely come back again.
