Med Salleh Kopitiam - Review - Queensway - London - The Infatuation

"Med Salleh Kopitiam, a Malaysian spot in Queensway, takes its food and its satay seriously. The chicken is deeply marinated and its peanut sauce has an intense roasted flavour that combines sweetness and chilli. In the realm of foods on a stick, it's high up there. Although it's attached to the bottom of a hotel, the restaurant feels purpose built for lots of friends and lots of family. It’s a many-roomed, wood-panelled, cavernous space that could easily fit every generation, and the daily all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet (which spans turkey sausages, baked beans, and hash browns to nasi lemak and chicken congee) feels representative of the kind of spot this is. Something for everyone. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Food Rundown photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Nasi Lemak Med Salleh runs a breakfast buffet every day and, alongside the chicken congee, the nasi lemak is the best thing you can get. Moreish coconut milk rice, fiery sambal, dressed salad, sliced cucumber, and egg. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Satay Chicken It’s clear that care and attention is given to the chicken on a stick here. The tender meat is yellow from a thorough marinating and caramelised to the point of char on the edges. Similar thought (and flavour) is in the peanut sauce as well. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Char Kuey Teow A pile of piping hot stir-fried noodles rarely goes down badly and this char kway teow is good, if a little on the safe side. Some caramelisation and wok hei would take this to the next level, but it's pretty generous on the prawn front. It's an enjoyable plate of noodles." - Jake Missing

The 16 Best Restaurants In Paddington

"Good chicken satay is hard to come by. It’s one of those dishes where mass mediocrity has been quietly accepted in London. But Med Salleh Kopitiam, a Malaysian spot in Queensway, takes its food and its satay seriously. The tender meat is yellow from a thorough marinating and caramelised to the point of char on the edges. It’s flavoursome enough to eat on its own, if similar thought didn't go into the peanut sauce. Other dishes, like char kway teow and fried chicken, are similarly respected. It’s a many-roomed, wood-panelled, cavernous space that could easily fit every generation of your family." - jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna

Absolutely lovely service and very accommodating with dietary needs. Staff are very knowledgeable about their menu and food allergies. Recommendations where made on what to avoid and what should be chosen. Food was well presented and delicious. I personally would have preferred a little more seasoning and spice, but this would alter the Malaysian taste. Overall a very authentic restaurant and worth a visit.

Arrived at 1130. It was not a full house. Yet the lady looked so stressed and look like in a hurry. She brought me to a corner where there was a group of customers talking n laughing loudly. I wonder why she put me there when there are plenty of seats elsewhere. Then before I can look at the menu she asked if I m ready. When I told her I am not she disappeared and never returned to check on me. I had to make my way and look for staff to place my order. When the chicken rice arrived, despite the rave reviews, I found it dry bland and not juicy or tender. Rice was generous. Soup was hot. Then while I was eating the staff opened the store and kept dropping the goods on the floor with no regards that your customer is trying to have his meal just few steps from you I understand he need to get the item but doing it with no regard to the presence of your customer just show how u regard them. I wanted to post on my social media the video n photo of the place&the food I decided again it cos why should I. They obviously don’t need don’t value real customers testimonials. There are many other halal Malaysian restaurants in the same vicinity. Dine here and spend yr money(GBP£) at yr own risk. I hope they will treat each customers better after this

Recommended by a friend and this is not a disappointing trip at all! Food is very authentic and walking into the restaurant I can already smell the south East Asian food smell. And if you can hear Asian accent in an Asian restaurant, it can’t go too wrong. Good price given the location as well. I would definitely come back again.

Nice setting with Malaysia’s Kopitiam atmosphere. Food taste authentic and nice presentation. Four star for food because cendol supposed to be served in a bowl (the Malaysian style), not in a glass mug. And the cendol iced £8.80 is overpriced

好好吃🤤好适合夏天!服务友好,价格实惠!! Super delicious Malaysian food 😍Visit here twice when we only spend 1.5 day in London. I will miss the curry Laksa noodles very much. Their business also have one Vietnamese restaurant called Med Salleh Viet-Westbourne Grove that have fresh prawns and mango salad, and my favorite Vietnamese Pho with tender beef 🍜 . 😍 All staff are welcoming and friendly even though they are very busy. I know why this restaurant has been so popular for decades !!

A Hidden Gem for Malaysian Food in London What a find! My boyfriend, a friend, and I visited Med Salleh Kopitiam, and we were absolutely delighted. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The service was outstanding—friendly and attentive. The food? Simply amazing. As first-timers trying Malaysian cuisine, we were blown away by the flavors. We ordered Nasi Ganja, Ayam Percik Rice, Roti Canai Ayam Goreng, and a Potato Curry Puff - each dish was delicious, well-seasoned, and perfectly cooked. The drinks, including Milo, Teh Tarik, and Ais Sirap Bandung, were comforting and refreshing. The attention to detail, generous portions, and reasonable prices make this place a must-visit for anyone looking to explore authentic Malaysian cuisine. We’ll definitely be back! ⭐ 5/5 Highly recommended!

If you need a fix of some Malaysian flavours, then Med Salleh Kopitiam is a great option. I came 3 times in the week I stayed nearby. Excellent Chinese Malaysian food (Halal) and good service. They also offer a Malaysian buffet breakfast with nasi lemak, laksa, congee, fried noodle and fried rice, plus teh tarik for £16.90 available until 11am (usually cleared away by 11:30am). Free WiFi is good speed. (70mbps) if it’s not too busy. Gets very busy at lunch time

Always a pleasure to visit them. Happy, smiling staff to greet us and tasty nasi lemak, satay, curry puff and ais kacang! Definitely recommended also if you have a group to bring as they have nice party/event spaces on the other side of the restaurant. Come check it out - you won't regret it! Enjoy! Thanks so much! See you again! :)
