Med Salleh Kopitiam - Review - Queensway - London - The Infatuation

"Med Salleh Kopitiam, a Malaysian spot in Queensway, takes its food and its satay seriously. The chicken is deeply marinated and its peanut sauce has an intense roasted flavour that combines sweetness and chilli. In the realm of foods on a stick, it's high up there. Although it's attached to the bottom of a hotel, the restaurant feels purpose built for lots of friends and lots of family. It’s a many-roomed, wood-panelled, cavernous space that could easily fit every generation, and the daily all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet (which spans turkey sausages, baked beans, and hash browns to nasi lemak and chicken congee) feels representative of the kind of spot this is. Something for everyone. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Food Rundown photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Nasi Lemak Med Salleh runs a breakfast buffet every day and, alongside the chicken congee, the nasi lemak is the best thing you can get. Moreish coconut milk rice, fiery sambal, dressed salad, sliced cucumber, and egg. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Satay Chicken It’s clear that care and attention is given to the chicken on a stick here. The tender meat is yellow from a thorough marinating and caramelised to the point of char on the edges. Similar thought (and flavour) is in the peanut sauce as well. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Char Kuey Teow A pile of piping hot stir-fried noodles rarely goes down badly and this char kway teow is good, if a little on the safe side. Some caramelisation and wok hei would take this to the next level, but it's pretty generous on the prawn front. It's an enjoyable plate of noodles." - Jake Missing
