The 14 Best Austin Airport Restaurants: Where to Eat at ABIA

"When we’re dealing with an early morning departure, we like to start with a coffee (and maybe a breakfast sandwich) from Medici to kickstart our brains. It’s fast, reliable, and significantly more local than a certain other popular chain coffee shop with long lines just a few gates away.  Located near Gate 7 " - nicolai mccrary

Google
Surprisingly good coffee. Beautiful space. Lovely outdoor. Comfy indoor. They take roasting seriously. Breakfast taco well above average.

Richard W

Google
Medici’s coffee is on par with the top roasters nationally. Breathtakingly beautiful single-origin character, perfectly extracted in the pourover process. The Peruvian coffee evoked purple fruits described as fruit punch and jasmine on the bag. Love at first sip. Immediately grabbed a bag. I’m not a fan of Mexican coffee as they remind me of cigarettes, but the one here was certainly among the best Mexican coffee I’ve tried. I’ll be ordering bags online in the future.

Angela Avila

Google
Overpriced coffee for what you pay for. $9 for a small drip coffee doesn’t make sense to me. Also, the staff isn’t friendly so overall my two experiences here haven’t been great. I suggest going to palomino down the street instead (where the vibes aren’t off, coffee isn’t overpriced, staff is lovely, and dogs are welcome).

Google
I came to work in the common area on my laptop. This is a great place for that! You can sit inside the coffee shop area, or in the common area, or outside. There are a lot of windows and light, and the staff was very friendly. I had an iced tea and it was freshly brewed just for me. It was very good!

Google
I've been here multiple times for work sessions and with the family. Good coffee. Good hot chocolate. Nice service. Prices on the higher end. The interior has ample space and solid WIFI. The only knock from me is that the seating (minus a couple of couches and arm chairs) isn't very comfortable and the design is very industrial. Fitting for a roasting house, but it definitely doesn't feel like a space to linger to me, which is probably their intention. Added bonus is that parking is ample at most times and they have some snacks as well as several Independent places for food in the same building.

Google
Very spacious coffee roaster with comfortable seating inside and out. A good tasting coffee!

Google
Took a chance on a spot I was in the neighborhood. I was pleased with the menu options for drip and pour over. The light roast Mexican single origin was just what I needed to rescue my day. Perfectly delivered espresso:sweet ratio. Nice atmosphere with areas to sit inside or out. Nice tunes. Bought a bag for home.

Kevin Little

Google
One of my go-to coffee spots in Austin. They serve high-quality espresso drinks made with beans roasted right there in-house. It's really spacious with multiple seating options, and the relaxed vibe makes it a perfect place to focus and get some work done.

Yelp
I love this location so much! The person taking my order gave me an extra punch since it was my last visit before moving out of state. They mixed up my order and let me keep the first one so I walked out with two 16oz drinks Genuinely kind people and efficient staff even though it's always busy :)

Yelp
Came to visit Austin Texas & stopped at this coffee shop on a Friday afternoon! The ambiance is busy, working from home vibes, & has lots of space. Lots of younger people were working/studying here Now for the drinks! Caramel latte 8/10: good flavor, wish had more caramel flavor matcha 7.5/10: a bit milky, wish the matcha was stronger tasting! But overall tasted pretty good honey latte 8/10: the honey was a great sweetener and had a strong coffee flavor Overall, this coffee shop was a great stop for us to grab a quick drink! They also had sandwiches & yogurts

Yelp
Location was great, plenty of outdoor seating and quick service. Only downfall was their lack of gluten free options for food.

Yelp
I work fairly close to Medici so I am there quite often. The space is large, the decor cute and the staff is very friendly. I've heard it's a great place to work from home (and I can imagine why, as it's got ample seating & open space with tons of lighting). My only gripe is that it's quite expensive. I don't leave without paying $7+ for an iced matcha latte. It's always quite good, but dang, it's expensive.
google avatar

Lizzie R.

Yelp
What can I say? The service was great. We had 3 drinks and were also able to sit down for a bit and connected to their wi-fi! This seems like a cute sit down place if you want to get away from the bigger crowds. I would definitely come back and order more drinks.
google avatar

Yelp
We love it here!!! The lavender matcha latte is the best one I've ever had! The lavender sweetener is perfect l. I always say it tastes sweet like cereal milk. There are a lot of matchas that I've had that clump at the bottom of if I drink it too slow, but this one does it. I've drinken it a few hours later and it's still perfect. They also have a great selection of pastries and if you come early enough they have some delicious tacos. Beautiful lounging area with comfortable seating to do some work, take a break or meet up with friends. I also love the windows here! It brings in such beautiful lighting. Staff is always sweet and get your drinks to you so quickly. Parking can be a little crazy. But worth the drive around to find a spot.
google avatar

Nicki C.

Yelp
Still a faithful patron when I'm in the area! The service is always friendly and the quality and quantity of the drinks are superb! We love this spot because of the vibes and various other places to go to within the area!
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered cortado, latte with oat milk, and a seasonal lavender rose matcha(?). Enjoyed the cortado and latte but found their lavender rose matcha to be too sweet for my personal liking. Loved the open space and aesthetics. Great spot to chill at with your laptop/kindle/book. Sadly, their Wi-Fi was slow and I couldn't get pages and images to load. We also ordered hand rolls from Uroko while we were there. Overall, such a cute spot and would return.
google avatar

Cam H.

Yelp
I thought the coffee was very good and decadent! Pretty art too. I usually like my coffee a bit sweeter though but can easily fix that by adding more sugar. Cute ambiance, plenty of seatings. Definitely a good spot to do work. It's right next to Uroko, so it's perfect if you are also hungry! Great service! The barista was very friendly and so patient with explaining the different types of coffee to me.

Yelp
Medici Roasting at Springdale General has become my favorite spot for socializing and meetings. With ample parking and an adjoining open space, the atmosphere is inviting and spacious. It's perfect for small group gatherings, providing a variety of seating options. The coffee is consistently excellent, and the service is always on point. Overall, a great place to connect over quality coffee in a comfortable setting.

Yelp
I came in before a makeup appointment. The staff at the front were so nice. I ordered a Mocha and a cinnamon twist thing. I forgot What it was called but both were delicious. It was a smaller place but plenty of room to not feel crammed.
google avatar

Clau R.

Yelp
Awesome coffee shop to WFH, catch up with friends, read a book, etc! Delicious coffees and snacks, great vibe for getting work done, and really quick service. There is also plenty of space to sit down both inside and outside, and tons of outlets inside. Aesthetically, it's really cute! Lots of plants and decor. Also lots of parking onsite. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This is my favorite Medici in town! I love this new shopping/food plaza on the Springdale Rd. There are so many cute shops to explore in this area and the Medici is one of the cutest spots to hangout! The coffee shop is spacious and has a lot of cute wooden tables and nice furnitures. In addition to coffee and tea, this Medici also sells draft beer and their price is rlly good. The staffs are super friendly here and they always welcome you at the counter with warm greetings. For the 3 times I worked here, I see they clean the tables after each guest left. Its so nice that they're able to maintain the space nets and tidy. Will keep coming back for sure!

Yelp
Wanted to sample some of Austin's cafes, and I was pleased to discover that Medici roasts its own beans! You can take a peek at the roasting area in the back. Upon stepping in, I especially liked how wide and high the interior was (loved the abundance of white wall as well as the wooden furnishings). After ordering an Americano (which they use their "La Famiglia" beans for) and their single origin pour over option, Hacienda La Minita from Costa Rica, we settled into their comfortable couches. The La Famiglia had a deep, dark chocolate base but also had a slightly herbal (in my opinion) touch alongside the "dark fruit" on the bag's description. Not my favorite, but it was not bad. The Hacienda La Minita was marked by a citrus flavor all throughout that didn't get quite to tart. Again, not bad, but not my favorite. Probably personal preference, but the overall experience was not bad.

Yelp
Beverages and food is delicious. I had on oatmeal bowl today in an attempt to choose something on the healthier side but I didn't know how tasty it would be! I have it four stars because of the vibe and seating. There isn't a ton of seating and the cafe is so echo-y. Also, the line is bananas in the morning/day time. Fun note: bakery treats are half off after 3.
google avatar

Becky L.

Yelp
Nice coffee spot, large counter area and tables for low key relaxing PLUS free WI-FI always a good thing IMO. The coffee tasted good however it took a seemingly long time to get it, and they didn't seem to busy~if your in a hurry this could be an issue
google avatar

Natalie F.

Yelp
Peppermint bark latte from @mediciroasting. Say no more. Seasonal lattes are my fav but this one is a top contender for the best of all time. This #hollyjolly beverage is topped with crushed peppermint and a marshmallow.
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
Recently came across this space with great coffee and a bright and refreshing space. Loved their holiday cortado and the open layout with large windows that let in tons of natural light. I'm looking forward to coming here again with my laptop or a book!

Yelp
The location of this place is super nice and it made a great study spot. It wasn't too loud and they had high roofs and the lighting was really nice. The workers were super nice too and I really liked the interior. I didn't really like the coffee though. I thought it was a bit too watered down and the coffee itself was alright it had an after taste to it that I didn't really enjoy.

Ma P.

Yelp
This place is always annoying. Seriously,i could grow and roast my own coffee before I was able to get a cup from here! The staff acts like they are too good to be there and the service is shotty and inconsistent. This place is done for me. I mean you've got ten people in line, move it a little! Thankfully I have a lot of other options in the neighborhood that aren't bougie and full of beans! I will take my money elsewhere. Honestly the whole scene at Springdale general is the lamest evolution of Austin culture i've experienced. Skip it! Go to Satin or Paloma, Satin is not even half the size of Medici and I have never had a problem there. Also, I've gone to this place over and over and the experience has never gotten better!
google avatar

Edwyn A.

Yelp
Medici is a local coffee chain that's in most of the hip neighborhoods in town. Came here for an after lunch drink. I got the matcha with an oat milk. Prices are average and perhaps a little more than average if you upsize and add a plant based milk substitute. My drink was closer to $7 with the add ons. If you are in the area I would recommend this place but I wouldn't come here specifically otherwise. There's lots of seating in the shared food court, bar seating inside, and outdoor seating as well. Since I came on the weekend I wasn't looking for WiFi but it did look like a few people we're working on their laptops.
google avatar

Kate Z.

Yelp
Bright, spacious cafe with plenty of parking. The coffee is strong and does the job. They have several specials but it's a bit pricey. It's okay for casual work, since the wifi isn't bad and there are ample outlets. The music and environment can be loud and half the tables are coffee tables, so it's not too comfortable for work meetings, but still good enough to focus on whatever you gotta do. The baristas are friendly. There's a buy 10 get 1 stamp card. I'll be back for more stamps and good cafe time!
google avatar

Andre J.

Yelp
First time. The coffee here was amazing! I'd rank the taste of the flat white #1 in Austin so far; nobody has been able to craft such a good flat white in my experience of Austin shops so far. Highly recommend! Plenty of seating, capacity is definitely 100+ including the indoor and outdoor seating.
google avatar

Tracey Z.

Yelp
SUPER nice location. The place is so spacious and modern and upscale. Great place to study, tons of comfy chairs and lots of sunlight. I got the Chai Latte which in my opinion was super watery. There wasn't much chai flavor at all, I would not recommend :/
google avatar

Nathan F.

Yelp
Best coffee and roasted beans in austin! Great customer service and friendly staff. Can't wait to be back
google avatar

Tunt H.

Yelp
If you want to find the worlds best street burrito, keep looking. This place is crawling with intellectuals & hoodwinked varieties. Beyond the surface, we are frightened: no one knows what we're doing here on this strange planet yet we have to drink bean water. The human race is freaking me out. The folks have charm but watch out, one faux paux & you'll be cast some pretty nasty grimaces! Yikes. Sorry I don't know the differences of subtle notes in the San Juan Brink blend vs the Ethiopian Forge. They might price gouge you for an americano (un espressko *wawa), there will be turmoil in the line, there will be a snark. There might be a fault. When does it end, Medici?
google avatar

Elly ..

Yelp
i had such a terrible experience here! it was recommended as a cute study place, but it was loud with rude, dismissive service. the cashier was rude and judgmental when I asked questions about the menu and pricing. a majority of my questions were answered sarcastically, as if I already knew the answers. the coffee itself was average but with a high price, especially for non-dairy drinkers. I will not be returning and I hope no one else has a terrible experience like myself.
google avatar

Jason B.

Yelp
I've always had this coffee at my favorite bakery coffee shop Teal House. So when I finally found where they make the magic happen I came to check it out beautifully decorated inside stacks of being you can see everything happening in large roasters. Plenty of parking and the coffee is amazing. They have seating inside and out and plenty of it.
google avatar

Christine H.

Yelp
The cafe is located in Springdale General which has many modern, local, and creative businesses. The Barbashop, Uroko, and Julie Myrtille Bakery are located in the same campus. Go check them out! The hot Earl Grey tea with almond milk was mediocre. I think their lattes are fairly good though! The barista was nice and friendly. This is a great space to study or chat with friends! The wifi is free but very spotty. You might need to restart your devices to get it connected again.
google avatar

Ashley C.

Yelp
Beautiful space in Springdale General. Their menu is on the smaller side, and that leaves plenty of opportunities for them to hone and perfect the coffees they serve. I had the cafe au lait, which was yummy. I sat at their bar area and did homework. The cup size was generous for $3.50. On the occasion, I observed their baristas making coffee. They also sell pastries, which are more affordable than the pastries the nearby Julie Myrtille sells. If you're craving lunch, then Uroko is next door to fulfill your need for sushi. Only complaint I have is that the music in Springdale General is way too loud. Cafe Medici can't do much about the stereo outside its doors, but I had an unpleasant time doing homework while listening to alternative rock that made the floors vibrate from the sheer cacophony. The lighting from outside is picturesque, but be warned that the sounds that come from the rest of Springdale General is far from pleasant.
google avatar

Allyson L.

Yelp
Great place to meet up with someone, to study or do some work! There's a lot of space both indoors and outdoors and the decor is really pretty. The customer service is also really great (: one of the batistas got my order mixed up with someone else's and gave me a free drink token. It's also situated in a plaza so there's ample parking. One downside of the coffee shop is that the wifi is not that strong. You can read emails and pull up lecture slides but you can't stream online meetings or videos well.
google avatar

Hong L.

Yelp
Spacious coffee shop on Springdale Road, perfect place for a coffee break or getting work done. They share a location with other stores/restaurants so you can walk around and explore. Menu is limited with a clean design but the coffee is good and freshly brewed. They also serve vegetarian breakfast tacos from Tacodeli here in the mornings. Parking lot is spacious but can fill up quickly in the afternoons. Interior is clean and modern with several outdoor table seatings.

Mrs. E.

Yelp
I was lucky enough to visit this location and I really liked it. I opted for a large iced coffee with vanilla and light on the ice. It was very good.
google avatar

Kieran H.

Yelp
I've been here a handful of times, and I think today was my last. The coffee is just not good. I've had the matcha latte, cappucino, and regular latte. The coffee always taste burnt. I almost asked for my money back today, but I didn't think they would give it to me so I drank my terrible $5 coffee. It's a shame because the atmosphere and location is great but the coffee is bad.
google avatar

Skyler B.

Yelp
This Caffe Medici location is in the Springdale General, which is such a cute spot! They have lots of seating that seems great for working or studying and it's connected to several other food spots as well. We ordered vanilla cold brews with milk, and they were really tasty! They are a little pricey, but overall this is a great spot!
google avatar

Amanda Z.

Yelp
The interior design in Medici is so tasteful and so is their coffee. We got their oat milk latte and iced americano and the service was great! I really recommend if you are in the neighborhood
google avatar

Taylor A.

Yelp
It's Matcha Monday! I really enjoyed my matcha latte with oat milk and honey. I will warn y'all - the matcha latte is definitely not super sweet so make sure to add sweetener if you prefer your matchas on the sweeter side. Overall, a great place to work from with ample outlets and seating.
google avatar

Anthony M.

Yelp
A few weeks back I went to Medici Roasting and got a Mocha. ($5.50) It tasted decent, but I didn't have much thoughts on it. I've been to Medici once before and both times I leave feeling there was more to be desired and I personally couldn't come to being enthusiastic about what I had got. I'm glad I tried them out, but I rate them a 3/5.
google avatar

Shinta S.

Yelp
One of my favorite coffee places in town, always have great coffee. At this location, they have sell some breakfast tacos in addition to pastries. I had Barbacoa taco and it was good. I just wished they had it on corn tortillas.
google avatar

Peggy B.

Yelp
Good coffee. Good tacos Good pastries and beer. How can you go wrong????? Very nice with outdoor sitting in the new Springdale walkable living area. We liked it!!
google avatar

Alex C.

Yelp
I enjoyed discovering this space. The coffee drinks are great the food is a little limited but very good. It's a large open well lit space with tables outside as well. Covid precautions seem to be very good with everyone masked and a sign at the door requiring masks to enter.
google avatar

Samantha C.

Yelp
I am genuinely confused as to why this place is so popular. I keep going to different locations and trying different drinks, but I can't quite get why my friends love it. The drinks are decent, but not remarkable, yet they come with a remarkable price tag. This time it was $6.50 for a small chai with almond milk. Decently sized space at this location, but with two walls of windows I would imagine it could be distractingly bright if you're trying to work on a computer. Convenient location and nice to take a coffee with you while you wander round the building compound, but as far as I can tell what Caffe Medici has going for it is location, not stellar taste.
google avatar

Rob P.

Yelp
I see. You see. We all see Medici! (You guys can have that slogan, guys, I just made it up.) Crazy that this coffee shop has been here since August and I just found out today. I guess it's because they close at 2pm and I've only been at Springdale General after that. But damn you think I would have noticed! My filter coffee was absolutely delicious, and Hannah behind the counter was super friendly. Now that I moved and this place is a bit closer to me, I'll try to give them my business again. I like the layout of this shop much better than the one Downtown!
google avatar

Romy G.

Yelp
The espresso is good, though not as good as I remember pre-pandemic. (Maybe COVID zapped my taste buds.) They have pastries from Easy Tiger, though it might facilitate things to identify the pastries in the case. (I would not expect banana bread to be an individual round cake.) The breakfast taco I tried was hands down the worst I have ever been served in 20 years in Austin. "Moist" had never been a word I would use to describe a tortilla until this experience. It was like a steamed bun, and stuck to my fingers. No thanks. The interior is stylish, although I always get claustrophobic in the ordering line. No one can seem to figure out you can continue clockwise around the bar, rather than backtracking and bumping in to the rest of those waiting in line. The outside area is usually pleasant, and the WiFi is good. Unfortunately my visit today featured a potpourri of aromas: diesel exhaust from nearby construction, patron aftershave, and a hint of dumpster juice. C'est la vie.
google avatar

Paul R.

Yelp
I was in between appointments and needed a place to camp out rather than go all the way home. I had coffee and some really yummy oat meal. Stands was super nice. No complaints.
google avatar

Alicia P.

Yelp
This place was really great for working remote. It was part of a bigger complex but lots of outdoor and indoor seating with ample outlets. The staff was friendly and the latte was really great. Also got an iced coffee but preferred the latte. Wish there was a little more visibility into the roasting side as it was very interesting to see. Would definitely go back!
google avatar

Katie B.

Yelp
Five stars for the look and feel of this place. It allows for a ton of light, there's plenty of seating, not to mention parking, and the tall ceilings give it a very "I'm a professional" vibe. The coffee is on point with other Caffe Medicis, so there's no surprises there... in fact, I found my latte creamier (in a good way) than usual. Since it's part of a mixed-use space, you can get more than just coffee if you plan to hang out for half or a whole day.
google avatar

Aaron C.

Yelp
Came here to study and this location didn't disappoint. I ordered the lavender lemonade and it was very refreshing. There is so much seating (more not pictured) with outlets throughout. The couches and seats are super comfortable and stylish. This location seems pretty new because not many people were there. It's also connected to a food place and a wine bar down the way. Will be coming back to get work done.
google avatar

Geoffrey C.

Yelp
Huge nice place tucked away from everything. Plenty of parking. It was pretty empty on a nice Sunday morning. Only a few people sitting outside since indoor is limited. Latte was awesome. A great latte is largely due to the quality of the espresso. They clearly have it. I bought bag of the Guji beans too. It was the last one on display so it was a sign. The notes/flavors in the Guji beans aren't too strong, but still pretty solid.
