I recently dined at Megobari in Philadelphia, and it was an exceptional experience that truly captures the soul of Georgian cuisine. The food was authentic, deeply flavorful, and prepared with care and precision.
The khinkali were outstanding — perfectly pleated, filled with juicy, well-seasoned meat, and served exactly as they should be. The highlight, however, was the chakapuli, a traditional Georgian spring lamb stew that was absolutely remarkable. The lamb was tender and delicately braised, infused with bright tarragon, fresh herbs, and the subtle tang that makes this dish so distinctive. The balance of richness and herbal freshness was beautifully executed, delivering a dish that felt both comforting and vibrant — a true representation of Georgian culinary heritage.
The restaurant itself is a small, cozy café-style space, beautifully decorated and warm, creating an intimate and welcoming atmosphere. It feels thoughtfully curated, with charm that enhances the dining experience without distraction.
Megobari offers a genuine taste of Georgia in Philadelphia. For anyone looking to experience authentic flavors and traditional dishes prepared the right way, this is absolutely a place worth visiting. I will certainly be returning to explore more of the menu.
