Was excited to give this place a try, esp given all the high reviews. Maybe I went at the wrong time.. they’re renovating the bottom floor for Art Basel.. and also halfway through a $4m remodel.. which means their menu is also in flux.. Went in for a late lunch and was pretty underwhelmed :/ Surprisingly good however, were the empanadas.. worth trying those Got the filet of snapper (bit undercooked, dry) Truffle fries came out cold Upside was our server Nelson did an outstanding job looking after us. Was very attentive and kept checking in on us which made the experience a bit better

In one word: EXQUISITE . From the food to the service to the ambiance. This new south beach restaurant is definitely one to become a regular at. The medianoche croquetas were out of this world, the fried snapper was to die for, and my all time favorite were the tuna tacos. It was a perfect combination of textures and flavors. Cudos to the Mehzcla team for providing such a great vibe!!

Having a South Beach date night with my husband and this place was perfect! We both got the Miami Spice menu and choose different plate for each course and all were amazing. The sangria was also so good we had to get a second pitcher! Thanks to Jimena & Joaquin for being amazing an attentive servers without making the night feel rushed at all! I can’t wait for another night in Miami so we can come back!

By far the best restaurant on south beach! Staff was friendly. The chef stopped by our table to check on us! This place is a must see. We had dinner one night at the bar and then joined them for their Mother’s Day brunch. Nothing short of amazing! The lobby smells like a dream!!! The staff here goes above and beyond and we will be back.

On the paper, the food and the place look good. Unfortunately the experience wasn't the same at the spot. It was hot and they don't have fans outside, inside is not as comfortable and has a strange smell, the kitchen was slow and the food had poor taste. For a $22+ Salmon sandwich you expect bread to be fresh at least.

Had such an amazing casual weekday lunch and went to visit an upcoming beautiful restaurant on ocean drive and had some shareables with two others friends and let... me... tell..you we’ve already made plans to go back this weekend to try more delicious stuff of their menu!!! We absolutely loved the day in Miami as it was a sunny day and we had the chance to sit outside under some great fans they have and they give you just the right amount of light breeze, it was a very pleasant atmosphere the staff was incredibly nice and acknowledged us as soon as we walked in. We ordered the arepitas.... DO NOT forget to order these! (ok?!) You’ll thank me. If you like fontina cheese, it will melt in your mouth. Media noche croquetas... I mean just look at them, beautifully made! Yuca bites was a great portion to share, very tasty. Last but definitely not least the fried fish was amazing and I’m not a seafood type of girl so hope that says much. I suggest dipping it! Sooooo goooood!

Very quiet, low key location with excellent service and phenomenal food. Grilled caesar elevates the traditional ‘boring’ salad and it’s so yummy! The oxtail parpardelle is also next level.

I'm a food snob so take note--this restaurant is outstanding. Each dish I ordered was unique and delicious.

We were looking for something quick, easy, and very local to where we were staying in South Beach after dropping big coin the night before. I did a search on Yelp and came across Mehzcla which had a number of high rated reviews. I always read the bad reviews to see what people are complaining about but do so with a grain of salt. The complaints were regarding service and price, which I will address. Mehzcla is the hotel restaurant for the Lord Balfour and consists of patio seating and seats in the lobby and lobby bar. The night we went, there was bartender/server and another server handling the restaurant. It wasn't terribly busy and looked like a number of people were just having drinks on the patio where we sat which provided great people watching on Ocean Drive. They have a happy hour with $10 mixed drinks, appetizers, and meals that runs until 8 pm. The restaurant is billed as Latin but I'd say it was more of pub fare with maybe a Latin flare. The two servers rotated taking care of us and were polite, friendly, but hard to find from time to time. We ordered mixed drinks which could have used more alcohol but were tasty. I had a mescal margherita with a spiced rim (which I had to request and describe). Had the hot fried chicken sandwich and had no complaints about the chicken. The sandwich came with fries which were pretty good. Only complaint is that I like to have my fries spiced up, which most restaurants can accommodate. I asked the server for my fries to be spiced and gave several options on how to do it. Fries came out plain with no explanation why my request was not accommodated. Had the churros for dessert. Three large churros covered in cinnamon sugar with chocolate and Carmel dipping sauce. The churros were good except one was a little over cooked. It was an ok experience for something quick and not having to spend a ton of money. Still much better options in SoBe.

I came here on a Saturday for brunch and was very impressed! The decor and ambiance of the hotel is warm and vibrant. I was able to try a few bites and everything was delicious. My favorite was the short ribbed empanadas and the chicken and sweet potato waffles. Yum!!! There is valet available at the front of the hotel and the closest parking garage is on 7th.

This isn't the first time I visited the place and the food is always on point. Very very tasty food options.

Good happy hour. Yummy drinks. Great service. And the food is good too. I really enjoyed the tostones and ceviche. Hope to come back and try more of their offerings. Love the outdoor seating and the ambiance is very nice.

Came here with family after an Art Basel event based on my previous experience here for a YES event. Located inside the Balfour Hotel lobby, plenty of patio seating, although we decided to seat inside which also has plenty of space. I ordered the burger, which I highly recommend with extra crispy (well done) fries. The patty temperature was perfect, I enjoy a medium rare temperature and it was cooked just right. The service was quick and friendly, I'm sure it's always consistent at any foot traffic level, when our party of four went, they were slow. It's in SoBe, so be prepared to pay for street parking and expect it to be a challenge to find it, depending on the time of the day/week.

This restaurant is part of the lord Balfour hotel on ocean and 4th. Menu is fairly limited. We have only had simple American breaky. They have a happy hour but not really. Only 3 cocktails are part of the deal but even then when o ordered two cocktails I paid $20 for it. A margarita with all the taxes and service charges comes to $25! Kinda pricey. Service staff are super nice.

We enjoyed Mehzcla. We were in the area and decided to come on in and try things out. Since Miami Spice has started, we decided to give the Brunch Menu a try.

STAY AWAY AND BE AWARE the server must have thought I was some guy on vacation and not a local. Added herself a nice 30% tip to my total!? Best part is, I was prepared to leave a 25% tip since it's Eastern morning, but now I'm not EVER going to return, I will advise my local friends to STAY AWAY, and here's a 1 star yelp review for your dishonesty. And on top of all of that the food took FOREVER to come out and is way overpriced for the subpar quality. It was a "decent" meal at best. Thanks for your overpriced dishonesty, and have a blessed Easter.

OVERALL: A must-try in South Beach - a hidden gem! THE PLACE: Located inside the Balfour Hotel (Lobby) on South Beach, plenty of street parking is available. THE FOOD: EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS! (ive never written that for any other restaurant), but my absolute favorite were the medianoche croquetas, grilled shrimp, and the berejenas bravas. The mojitos were refreshing but the spicy margarita was a bit bitter (for my taste). THE SERVICE: Staff were so kind and Chef Steven's food worth so much hype! I hope to return soon with my fiance who hasnt tried out this gem yet.

Mehzcla is about how you say "mix" in Spanish, and Mehzcla Restaurant in South Beach does a perfect blend of flavors! Such as the smooth blend of Brugal 1888, aromatic bitters, and a sweet black cherry that combines into my Rum Passion Fashion cocktail. While they have an indoor dining room, I instead ate at their patio while enjoying the mix of sights on Ocean Drive in combination with the yummy dishes I enjoyed. My chaufa rice order was a sizeable bowl of fried rice, an easy egg, chia seeds and greens mixed with the sweet heat of meaty bbq ribs. Into this yummy goodness, I tied the knot with the fresh bananas and cinnamon of their crème brûlée. Service was casually attentive and on point with recommendations. This little spot is perfect whether for a date night or solo dinner. I'd certainly recommend!

Came through during Art week since I had attended an event here previously and was blown away by the flavors. I was shocked to find them almost empty, but it did not deter our party of 4. I ordered a spicy margarita and was underwhelmed with the spice... was more of a regular marg which worked for me. Kudos to our server who comped me a second marg in an effort to improve upon the flavor. Food wise, the table ordered the ahi tuna tacos, the short ribs, and the burger and chicken club. I was looking for the oxtail dish and the arepitas, but was told that was a Spice menu item that was discontinued... sad day. The burger and ribs were tasty, but the chicken club left me a little wanting. Chicken was on the dry side and I could do without the middle slice of bread. The fries were fire though - perfectly crispy and texture! Tuna tacos were light and a good starter to share - you get 4 tacos per order. Overall, thought the experience was a-ok. Attentive and friendly service, and tasty bites!

This place is a hidden gem! Food was amazing! Had breakfast and lunch here multiple days. Food and service was perfect every single time. The patio ambiance was so beautiful and relaxing as well. The dishes were made to perfection, highly recommend.

Well I came here because it got good reviews, I definitely don't agree! For breakfast anyway....atmosphere is super mediocre, as is the service. The positives were way salty but mix them with the tasteless eggs and it was fine. Definitely would not recommend anyone coming here.

Meh. This restaurant is on the porch of a beautiful art deco hotel. The street was loud (spring breakers), but I'm sure it's more charming not on a weekend in mid- March. The food was just OK. We had the tune tartare tacos, which were solid. The arepitas were good, but not amazing. And the Tostones were so salty they were inedible. The service was good once we got menus- they walked by us a number of times before we had to flag them down to ask for menus. Weird. How are they getting 4.5 stars?

Stopped in on our last day in Miami for breakfast and this place did not disappoint. We had came to south beach to watch the sunrise and found this gem of a place.

The food is really good! We tried the ahi tacos, the aripitas and the cheeseburger. Very juicy cheeseburger and my husband has wants me to figure out how to make the aripitas. We stopped in after seeing good reviews and wanted to say that I agree. On top of the great food. The service from Aime was wonderful. She is a gem and true asset to this restaurant.

Amazing experience! Great low key atmosphere, and the staff was very friendly and attentive! If you like cocktails, this is your jam! The service was absolutely the best around! The manager came by just to check on everything which was really nice compared to other restaurants in South Beach! We had the BEST Chef in South Beach, Steven Acosta!The breakfast we ordered was made perfectly, tasted wonderful, and had great attention to detail! They also offer lavish lunches and dinners. There is outdoor and indoor seating and causal dress is allowed! This place is great for locals and tourists! Highly recommend, We will be back on our next trip down from Nashville for sure!

Review - Mehzcal I am hesitant to write this review because I want to keep this spot all to myself! LOL as a local of South Beach who lives just a block away, I am so happy that this place opened up! I am dinning here for the second day in a row, it's that great! The location, food and service = 5 star quality! Jimena has been our server both times and has been exceptionally pleasant, friendly and very accommodating the our needs! The food came out promptly and is freaking delicious! We dinned here another night with Kaly as our server who was incredible as well in accommodating to my allergies and the food was prompt and delicious as well! 5 stars all around!

yummm. ate outside. great service and great food. the watermelon caprinah is delicious the ahi tacos were delicious ceviche was good, but i've had better the ribs were GREAT the arepetias were fine, probably the least favorite the yuca was delicious

We waited for ages for a server. After the server finally came they didn't have the entre I wanted so I just left. Not the best service I've ever experienced. Not sure if the food is good but it's pretty pricy. I expected better service at least.

We stopped in Mehzcla last night and we're pleasantly surprised by their Wednesday oysters and bubbly deal. We've walked by the hotel for many months while they were remodeling and were happy we finally stopped by. We had great service at the bar and chatted with the Chef who kindly explained the menu gave us some suggestions. He said in the next few months the menu will be larger than what it currently is so we're excited to go back. The interior decor had a nice boho touch with out being overwhelming and the seats at the bar were very comfortable. Next time we'll sit outside in their patio area which seemed very chill. Now onto the food. The oysters were fresh and delicious and had the most unique and delicious spicy mango cocktail sauce. It was unlike anything I've had with oysters but paired so perfectly without being over powering like traditional cocktail sauce. We also ordered from the main menu and tried their Chaufa. The rice was so light and fluffy and so flavorful and came topped with a soft poached egg. They had a yum yum sauce on the side that took the chaufa to the next level. I highly suggest sharing this because the portion was large. This is a place we'll definitely come back to and check out as the menu evolves. The prices were reasonable, especially for beer and wine, which is hard to come by on the beach let alone south of fifth. If your on the beach check them out.

Stopped in for a late lunch... sat in the lovely courtyard. Ordered the tuna tacos and a shredded pork on arepas... both delicious! Also a wonderful Peruvian beer. Excellent all! Great service as well! Highly recommend!

Probably one of the best meals I've ever had! Went with a large group for Valentine's Day and was blown away by the food,service, and atmosphere overall. We did a tasting menu and everything was executed to perfection. Our server Kaly was professional,prompt, and very accommodating to all of our needs. We had so many amazing dishes that had our whole party overwhelmed with every bite. I love the vibe of this boutique hotel, as it is the complete opposite of the tourist attractions of South Beach. The service and food is nothing like you would expect in this area, as it is cozy and intimate. As a local that usually steers away from South beach, this will definitely become one of my new go to spots! Highly recommend for casual and special occasions.

Found this spot by accident walking on Ocean Drive and so glad we did! We stopped in for drinks only. The signature cocktails on their menu all sound unique - wish we could've tried them all! We tried the Balfour Batida (not pictured I drank it too quickly, so good!) - highly recommend, the Smoked Old Fashion - very good, and the Spiced Smoked Margarita, also great. The latter two drinks they smoke with actual wood chips and gives it a great flavor. Our waiter was nice and personable and made good recommendations. Great spot on Ocean a little removed from the craziness!

This place is the perfect spot to grab a bite after the beach. The air conditioner mixed with the relaxing vibe made for the perfect afternoon bite. Jimena and Joaquin took great care of us (ask for them!!) and the food was phenomenal. So were the drinks. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Wow! I came here twice in 1 week. By myself and with my wife. I got to try the arpegias, short ribs, pork belly, croquettes, asparagus. 5 stars. The ribs melt off the bone. The arepuelas are incredible. Must visit!

We're in South Beach for a weekend get away and sound this hidden gem on Yelp. It happened to be a Miami Spice week which has a special "tasting menu". We tried the ribs, egg plant bravas, oxtail pasta, surf and turf fried rice, fried donuts, and cheese cake...all were delicious. Chef Steven came out to chat with his guests, the service with Joaquin were all amazing. The ambiance is beautifully decorated and warm setting. This place is a must try! We will be back.

This was one of the best culinary experiences in Miami Beach! Our server/bartender was so sweet, attentive, and has truely mastered his craft with cocktails and service. Everyone in the team was so wonderful throughout our time there. The food was flavorful, well thought out, and balanced. I highly recommend.

We came across this restaurant while we were Visiting Miami , just opened , we didn't find any reviews on them so I decided to give them one and they earned it . AMAZING selection of items on the menus. The food is delicious and the price is right . On top of that the servers and the Chef . They treat you like. Family. Very nice and very welcoming. Love the food , the ambiance Nd everything about this little gem in South Beach . Well done guys . Keep the good work and next time I visit miami im sure i will have to wait until i can dine

10/10 food was incredible, got so many things from the menu and everything was delicious there wasn't one dish i didn't enjoy i can promise you that. A few favorites were the baby gem caesar, arepitas, medianoche croquetas, and ahi tuna.

This restaurant was such a delight, I went for Miami spice, all the food was delicious, service was above and beyond. As a local I love finding restaurants in Miami that maintain such amazing hospitality and food throughout all the craziness of Miami! I will be back

Always an amazing experience here. Order a pitcher of sangria. It's worth it. This place is off the main strip enough to not ever be crowded, but always has great service, food and drinks. Angel H served us for the day today, and he was exceptional. He told us that he wasn't normally a server and typically a manager, but truly gave us some if the best service. Would highly recommend this spot.

Fantastic spot just far enough off the main strip to be quiet but still close to the beach. Beautiful porch for our relaxed evening meal. The menu is small plates but added up to an excellent dinner

Had the best time w server Hedi. Her attitude was amazing. She was up beat and happy to serve us. We did toppas style with appetizers. All her suggestions were so tasty as well as the vodka drink she said to try. We had: Pork belly, ahi tuna, medianoche croquetas and to drink Balfour Batida. The croquetas came w a sauce used w mustard. Hubby didn't like the sauce but did enjoy the croquetas. I liked everything. I usually don't like pork belly but it had a crispy outside and a really good taste. Not gamey at all. My drink tasted like a Strawberry milk shake. Dangerously good! The manager came over to check on us too. We booked a reservation online and were seated right away. I'll definitely go back when I'm back in Miami.

This restaurant found a way to hack the review system. The environment is not nice. Inside it smells bad. Outside it is hot and fans don't work. The food is 2/5. Dry, lacks flavor. The service is slow. I don't belive they could receive 5 star reviews.

Absolutely perfect afternoon! We had gotten off a cruise and decided we weren't ready to go home yet. Headed to South Beach and came upon this adorable place. Delicious and fresh cuisine,, very friendly service. Do yourself a favor and experience Mehzcla!

I hate to leave a bad review and although the place has an awesome vibe and aesthetic, the food and drinks are extremely overpriced. The mixed drinks are served in tiny cups. The food is ok but for the price you will do better at a real high end restaurant. Unfortunately I was unhappy.

We had breakfast on the outdoor front patio, a lovely experience and excellent service. It seemed like a special effort was being made to everyone there, including the restaurant manager stopping at our table. Would definitely go again when we are back in Miami.
