"The Westfield in Santa Anita houses many of the eating options in Arcadia, and Dongpo Restaurant is far and away the most upscale option in the mall. It’s a giant space with an equally giant Chinese menu, but we’ll help you narrow things down: get the roast duck and the spicy chicken. The extremely crispy duck comes out with super-thin pancakes, plus scallions, cucumber, and hoisin sauce to top your duck with, and the giant mound of fried chicken is covered with chillies, without being overwhelmingly spicy. Dongpo is fairly pricey (the whole duck will set you back $68), but it’s a great option for an occasion." - Jess Basser Sanders

One of the best Chinese first date dinner restaurant in town, came here for a date the service was on point and the atmosphere of the restaurant is luxury. The food is great taste and their Peking duck is the best out of all I have tasted. Loved every single piece and wrap. Their lobster noodle is incredible deal. Had a great time here!

The dishes at this restaurant continue to maintain an impressive standard. The seasoning of the "Sliced Beef with Chili Sauce" is precise, with a perfect balance of spiciness and flavor that leaves a lasting impression. The "Spicy Chicken" features a crispy exterior with tender, juicy meat, blending crunch and succulence flawlessly. The aroma of the "Hot Chili Oil Poached Sliced Angus Beef" is intoxicating, with tender and smooth beef that bursts with rich flavors in every bite. The “Mongolian beef ”and “Black Pepper Angus Beef” are equally unmissable, showcasing expertly selected ingredients and masterful cooking techniques, turning each dish into a feast for the taste buds.

It is one of the better restaurants in the mall. Food quality are above average. The taste is almost authentic. The price of the food is average compared to other similar restaurant. If you go there for the first time, the place is a little hard to find. They are located in the courtyard on the second floor. There is an entrance to the courtyard before Macy's department store.

I absolutely love this restaurant. The food tastes amazing, and you can tell the ingredients are very fresh. The service is excellent, and the dining environment is quite pleasant. Overall, it's a fantastic experience. This is my top choice for dining with friends. Highly recommended!

Google
First time coming, exterior and interior is very well designed. I love the dining vibe. We ordered the meizhou duck plate, hot oil chilli beef, string beans, and beef fried rice. It feels like a fine dining. Everything is very good!! Totally recommended.

I came here to say this is probably one of the best Chinese food I had in a while. First, the servers and waiters were very professional and passionate. Second, I have lived in LA for 2 years and have tried many places but this place, the food was scrumptious. The duck was warm and crispy and it came with the pancakes. The shrimp fried rice was a decent portion. The classic dong po pork was the perfect amount of tenderness and the meat and fat ratio was exactly what I needed. Their seafood was another huge thing I would recommend because their crab was live crab, the meat was so fresh and had a sweet taste to it. Lastly, the sweet and sour fish was a huge portion and we didn’t finish it but it was so good we packed the rest of it to go. I would 10/10 recommended to friends and family. Price may be high but it is definitely worth it. PS the atmosphere was very artistic and historical.

Wait for the beijing duck roll to come literally wait for an hour and more, ridiculous. A 30m or knowing ahead of waiting time is acceptable but nope. All they say its they still making and three table like us waited so long. food is alright some not bad some like mapu tofu not that good but its pricey Interior is nice Server is busy , they are nice but not helpful and in the end no apology. Wont come again... This place used to be good ten years ago tho

Google
- Ate here for Chinese New Year and the service was top notch. - Hella expensive but it’s worth it. - Duck cooked 3 ways were absolutely delicious. - Mongolian beef is juicy and tender - A-Chai was average, but it was crispy. - Kung Pao Chicken was Kung POW! - Sweet & Sour Fish left sweet memories in my heart - Fish with Preserved Vegetables was chef’s kiss. It’s just right spicy and sour. - The Rice Ball dessert is expensive, considering you only get 2 pieces but damn it, it was delicious and the soup was so comforting to drink.

Yelp
This is located in the Promenade area at the Santa Anita mall. This is a nice restaurant to go with your family for a upscaled Chinese dining experience. This place is huge, bright, and very beautiful. The staff are attentive and will serve the food in a timely manner. We did not wait long to eat. I enjoyed everything I tried here. My highlights were the Roasted Duck, Mapo Tofu, Crab, Pork Hock, and Beef Rib.

Yelp
I've been trying roasted ducks at different restaurants and I made a reservation on CNY for dinner. I like the atmosphere and decoration here. It is spacious and I see both public dining area and private rooms. For all the space that they have, I wish they made more room for restrooms. If there are more than 4 people, it's already crowded in the restroom. The tables are spacious and we got a rectangle shape table for 6 people. I would prefer a round table with lazy susan. It was hard to reach certain plates on the table and we just kept passing on dishes to each other. But that's just my preference. Here's what I ordered for the table: Meizhou roast duck, half size & extra pancakes Sichuan cold noodles Hot chili oil poached sole fish, mild spicy Steamed scallops with garlic & vermicelli Special fried rice (shrimp) Stir-fried pea sprouts White rice Flavor is subjective and in my opinion, roasted duck here is just average. The skin wasn't even that crispy. I can't say I'll be ordering roasted duck here again. I actually really like special fried rice (shrimp). My family didn't because they thought it was too oily. Hot chili oil poached sole fish has really good flavor and the dish was huge upon arrival. I also enjoyed steamed scallops with garlic & vermicelli. I was too full for desserts, perhaps next time. Service here is great. Staffs are attentive and very nice. Plenty of parking spaces at the mall.

Martin K.

Yelp
Usually here for a weekday lunch, we ordered their signature chicken dish, which had a hint of sweetness. The dish is big with a sizable portion as well for two. But of course we had to order a lunch special veggie dish to balance it out. but we usually kept to Sichuan dishes when here for big parties. This elegant dining experience comes with more authentic Chinese flavors. The environment is quite fancy, with a polished and upscale feel that elevates the meal. The service staff was attentive and accommodating too, so our experiences were smooth and enjoyable as well!

Yelp
Roasted duck is great and authentic!! Best in town I also love the pepper beef. It is not that spicy but very refreshing~ Kung Pao Chicken is also good. Highly recommend

Yelp
Meizhou Dongpo has always been my family's favorite restaurant. Celebrating Thanksgiving here never disappoints! Foods are delicious as usual, service has always been excellent, and most importantly everyone is happy!

Yelp
Came to Dongpo recently over a weekend lunch catch-up with friends. We didn't order any duck or pork belly this time, but all of our dishes were shared family style and filling enough for 3 people. They've updated their menu since the last time I came, which was pre-covid. We ordered: -Meizhou Dongpo Sausage - half spicy & half regular. This was a good appetizer. Not too spicy, but a slightly kick. -Mung Bean Jelly Noodles - this has some numbing spice, but was very good! -Wok-Fried Green Beans - a standard Chinese dish, yum! -Boiled Fish in Chili Broth - this was also made with numbing (mala) spice, with white fish fillets, bean sprouts, and green onions. Not extremely spicy, but it does build up as you eat it. -Black Fungus (Wood Ear) Appetizer - I didn't get a picture this time, but I would skip as it was just a soy sauce seasoning. I prefer it with some black vinegar for some acidic bites. Restaurant space is clean and decor is beautifully decorated. Restrooms were fairly clean. Service was quick and attentive, servers always came around to refill our waters and ask if we needed a plate change. We were able to sit and chitchat a little as well.

Yelp
First time dinning here after coming tot he Shops of Santa Anita for years. Mall food has never impressed be but this is one of the higher end restaurants at the mall. All the spicy dishes defiintely were SPICY and I think I have pretty good tolerance. The roast duck was delightfully crispy. The meat was juicy. The lobster, serrano pepper beef and the fried green beans are fantatsic too.

Fanny S.

Yelp
I visited the restaurant on a Thursday, during the weekday, and it wasn't too busy. We arrived around noon and ordered half a roast duck for two, which came out quickly. Their signature spicy chicken. It was my first time trying the dish, and I asked for it to be mild. It was perfectly spiced, not too hot, and what stood out was that it was stir-fried with French fries, which made them crispy and flavorful, just like the chicken. Both were delicious. The roast duck was also great, served hot, though our pancakes got cold as we chatted. We asked the waiter to change them, and he kindly obliged. The service was excellent. I also ordered the weekday half-price beef lunch special. The The portion was generous, and instead of bean sprouts, it had enoki mushrooms and bamboo shoots, which was unique and tasty without being overly spicy. If you check in on their Yelp page, you get four brown sugar rice cakes as a gift, which was a nice bonus. They also had a buy two, get one free deal on fruit tea, and there were plenty of weekday discounts, making it a great value. I've been eating here often lately, and it's perfect for family meals or dining with friends.

Yelp
I had a wonderful experience and Meizhou Dongpo! Huge shoutout to our server, Wendy, for helping me and my friends pick out delicious dishes. My first impression walking into the restaurant was that it looked unique and fancy. My friends and I were greeted immediately and got seats. We ordered: Roast duck (5/5): my favorite at the restaurant! It was flavorful and cut into slices so it was easy to eat Hot chili oil fish (4/5): it was good but didn't stand out. Fish was kinda bland, but I think it's supposed to be that way for this dish specifically. Fried rice (4/5): didn't really stand out to me. It was still good though Brussels sprouts (5/5): as someone who isn't particularly into Brussels sprouts, this was a great dish! The service here was outstanding! The food was good as well and I can't wait to come back to try more!

Yelp
Came here for dinner with family after a long day at Universal! I've been to this location once when they first opened. I must say it's exactly the same. Big and plenty of tables. The servers were very attentive and made sure everyone had the correct orders and drinks. Now let get talking about this duck!!! I've had my fair share of Peking duck from Vegas to the Bay Area and even SLC in Utah! I will say for the price Dongpo has a pretty decent duck and the skin is crispy as it should be. I'm not expecting them to make additional dishes out of the duck as I don't really care for those. I'm just down for that skin and fatty pieces of duckliousness. Is that such a word??? They serve the Peking duck with the thin crepe or should I saw tortilla like wrap. Comes with scallions, cucumber, sugar and a very dark hoisin sauce. Delish! However I'm more of a canto type of guy and would like the buns instead. But who cares what I think! Next dish that was on my list of "yes" was the sweet and sour fish! I'm a sucka for Chinese sweet and sour! This dish won me over with looks and flavor! Some white rice please! The seasonal scallops was also of the hook! Overall great dinner and great service! If you haven't tried Peking duck give Dongpo a try! Not saying it's top notch but for the price and that crispy skin "Hell Yeah"

Donna C.

Yelp
Finally got a chance to try Meizhou Dongpo! The taste of the food was really good, the portions were a bit small. We ordered a whole duck and it took forever to come out. Otherwise, the service was good too, I would come back for special occasions.

Nancy N.

Yelp
I give it 5 stars for food, but service was a negative 3. We had a variety of vegetables, including baked peppers with avocado, cucumber salad, and green beans with garlic and chilis. They were amazing! We also had a half duck and a whole fried fish that looked like a blooming onion. We chowed down like hungry puppies and left satisfied. This service however was abysmal. We waited at least twenty minutes to order, and while the food came out quickly, delivered by runners from the kitchen, our server disappeared for long stretches of time. I would go there again, but if I were seated in this server's station, and would ask to move.

Agnes P.

Yelp
My daughter & I have an annual tradition every 10/10... so today 10/10/2024 we decided to come back to Dongpo for our 10/10 lunch. We still shared our admiration for the chef who came out to present and slice our Peking Duck order....As usual, we found everything we ordered delicious & perfect.... service is as always, outstanding....thank you we really enjoyed our lunch...

Jin H.

Yelp
Authentic Chinese food. If I want to eat Chinese food in Southern California, I will for sure pick here. It's expensive but worth it. I ordered Peking roast duck (1/2), fresh bamboo, hot and sour soup, and spicy noodle salad. Everything was very tasty. Service was pretty attentive too. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want high quality Chinese food.

Lexi S.

Yelp
This restaurant is beautiful! I found it by doing a yelp search for another restaurant in the area, but when we parked and walked in to this shopping center this restaurant was right in front. My friend and I smelled the delicious aromas coming from the establishment and redirected our tastebuds. We waited 15 minutes for the 2 of us to be seated on a Saturday evening around 6:30pm. The restaurant is a quiet elegance, clean, darker lighting, and I love the floor to ceiling glass doors and windows. The service was quick and happy to point us in the right direction. We opted to share the organize chicken, roasted green beans, and fried rice. I loved the crispy, tangy orange chicken! Still freaking around the garlicky, ginger fried rice and the green beans were so savory! We took home leftovers and we can't wait to return the next time we are in the area!

Irene G.

Yelp
Great Service and excellent food! John is the best! We'll be coming back soon! And clean restroom.

Charles C.

Yelp
Here for an amazing lunch! Surprised how empty this place was compared to DTF, people don't appreciate high end authentic Chinese food and service. We reserved a private room and the ambience, food and service was first rate almost China Shanghai/ Beijing level food. Sadly I seemed limited to posting only 10 pictures but all the food we ordered was from excellent to awesome!

Brandy S.

Yelp
Food was very greasy but mostly tasty, and the service was chaotic from the jump. The host couldn't find our reservation even though they called us the day before to ask us to come in earlier, and it took 3 people and 10 minutes to sort out that we were on the separate Yelp reservation list. NOTE: Call them directly for reservations, but be prepared that English may be very limited. Every server needed to be flagged down aggressively as they don't really assign tables, and we waited ages for our check. Side note: My mom is obsessed with the Black Fungus dish so she may drag me back here.

Sanny C.

Yelp
This place is more like a 3.5. $50 for half a roasted duck, definitely aint cheap. When I chose to order it, I expected it to be flawless lol Presentation wise - beautiful. Except for the 2nd plate with 2 pieces on it lol Thanks! But funny and awkward. Taste wise - I got a fatty duck? Lots of fats. It looked like they had poured some oil on it. It wasn't bad because it was tender. Just too oily. There wasn't much crisp to the skin. Some parts of the ducks were dry. It just didn't look dry because of the oil on it. The stirred fried pea was also oily. Some tasted sweet, and some was a bit rough to chew. The pig trotter soup was pretty good. I think the soup was prob the best. Everything in it was good. I like the meats on the softer side (the more tender, the better). To others, it might be overly soft to mushy. Oolong tea was okay. It looked pretty strong, but the oolong flavor was lacking. Strange. Service was great in the beginning. Our waiter was patient. He didn't quite get what my mom wanted, so he tried to have another waiter help. My mom wanted the slice chili and soy sauce. He went and got it for us asap. Service disappeared when all the foods got to the table. We tried to ask for rice. It never came. No one bothered to ask if we needed more teA. We had to hunt someone down for it. Ok place.

Yelp
Came in on a late evening and was seated after a short wait. I was impressed by the waiting area-- There's a long couch and ice water, which was appreciated! Unfortunately, the food service left a lot to be desired. They didn't have two separate vegetable dishes--I was told by the server that the kitchen had been too busy the previous night to prepare them, which isn't a good look for a regular item on the menu. I imagine that this would be extra frustrating for vegetarians and vegans, since it seemed the kitchen was only too busy for vegetarian dishes... Our food also came out at very strange intervals, with the bang bang chicken coming out extremely fast and then the duck coming out long after we were finished with the chicken and an additional wait on top of that. That said, the chicken was delicious and a good value. I can't say the same for the duck-- It doesn't compare favorably to other Peking duck in the area. It's fine, but nothing special; the fat wasn't as well rendered as I would have liked. Overall, a nice enough restaurant, but slightly overpriced and seemingly unprepared.

Mike L.

Yelp
After coming to the Culver City location, I was happy to try a Meizhou Dongpo near me. I made a reservation through Yelp but they didn't find it even though I had a confirmation - when showing it to the host, they looked at their "reservation list" which had pencilled in reservations. Luckily, the restaurant was empty so there was no issue but if you have a big party, best to call and confirm as they apparently do not use Yelp waitlist/reservations. Regarding the food, it was good - I'm happy that they had the same quality as the Culver City location. Service was a mix. There were some good servers and some that were just chit chatting and not paying attention. Overall, the Arcadia Meizhou Dongpo was just okay. Not sure if I'd return to this location.

J H.

Yelp
Super yummy Chinese food at the Santa Anita Mall - outside. Everything here is delicious, but a little pricier. However, they do have a deal right now. We got the Mapo Tofu - very Szechuan and spicy. The orange chicken was delicious, and the eggplant was flavorful and terrific. The Peking duck is what most people go for, but make sure to call ahead and order it, or you'll be waiting awhile!

Grace C.

Yelp
Made a reservation for 4 at 6:00 pm. Took my parents and my husband here for New Years Eve dinner. Ordered a whole Peking duck with duck soup on the side. Ordered two of the dongpo pork, the jellyfish and Chinese cabbage salad, bang bang chicken, and stir fried A choy. Dishes were served fast and there was not much waiting time during the busy holiday season. My family enjoyed every single dish we ordered. I loved that the pancakes that came with the duck were chewy and thick. Thicker compared to other Peking duck places such as happy duck house in RH or duck house in Monterey park. I really wish they gave more scallions for the toppings! There was so many cucumbers and not enough scallions. The environment was not noisy which I prefer compared to other Chinese restaurants. Loved the interior decorations and seating was spacious. This is my second time here and I will be back.

Jacqueline T.

Yelp
I never know if Meizhou Dongpo at the Santa Anita mall. Our office came in for dinner, 15 of us. I ordered family style, and so much food. The duck is amazingly with the thin pancake and sauce. It was a hit for all my coworkers. Another wonderful dish is the deep fried fish with sweet and sour sauce. The cutting craft is good. We had our own private room and a small sitting lounge when we waited for the party. Alcohol beverages weee served and the ambience was chill and tastefully designed. I worked with our server, John, who was very friendly and was willing to put in the order with me that fit our budget. Overall, everyone enjoyed the dinner at Meizhou Dongpo.

Lisa C.

Yelp
First Impression: I don't understand how this place only has 3 1/2 stars! The ambiance is absolutely stunning, with a look that feels more suited to Beverly Hills or Vegas. The service is polite and inviting, and the food is beautifully prepared. This is definitely a spot for family gatherings or a romantic date night. My husband and I had such a great experience here, we're already planning to return for Thanksgiving dinner with our family. What We Ordered: * Dong Po Short Rib ($85) - This was the star of the night! The short rib was cooked to perfection--tender, moist, and flavorful. The dish was beautifully presented with the sliced meat reassembled on the bone, topped with spicy chili flakes, caramelized red onions, and an incredible soy-based sauce. It was melt-in-your-mouth delicious! * Kung Pao Shrimp ($29.99) - My go-to dish at any restaurant, and they did it so well here. The sweetness came from a fragrant fruit that added a unique flavor to the shrimp--I'll ask what it was next time! * Serrano Pepper Beef ($28.99) - Served in a light, sweet broth that paired perfectly with the tender beef. * Orange Chicken ($19.99) - This dish is nothing like the version at Panda Express! You can actually taste the savory, tangy, and fruity flavors from the orange. It's elevated and much more refined. * Wok Fried Green Beans ($18.00) - These were perfectly crispy with great garlic and savory soy flavors. Final Thoughts: We're making plans to return for Thanksgiving and this place is definitely staying on our rotation. Highly recommend for the gorgeous ambiance, great service, and amazing food!

Yelp
Went here on a random Wednesday night & got the Peking duck. I loooove Peking duck but this one was the first time I had it and it tasted super gamey. I didn't love it. They also provide sugar to add crunch which I've never seen before. I typically receive the skin crispy so no need for additional sugar, so that was a bit offputting. Especially because the hoisin sauce is already super sweet! Service was kind of weird-- we wanted sake but the woman insisted we get beer? I don't drink beer lol. And then when we finally got sake we ask for a filtered bottle and they only had unfiltered and it was so confusing trying to communicate that we ended up just getting beer. Overall, meh experience and would not go back here

Lauren N.

Yelp
- super nice waiters - cut duck in front of us - good service + sophisticated and pretty interior and ambiance - slightly pricy - nice restrooms - good family style dishes

Dawn C.

Yelp
Honestly, both overpriced and overhyped for what you get. Because the ambience is so grand, and the prices so high, you expect the food to be celestial - which was not the case. Everything was a little bland. The only dish that I truly enjoyed was the sichuan fried fish. Come here for the ambience, not the food.

Sylvia C.

Yelp
Foods are good, portions and prices are reasonable, good ambiance, service is great. Will definitely come back again.

Eunice C.

Yelp
The stars were based on what we experienced and ordered that day. Personally, the duck here is better than Ji Rong in Rosemead, so was the service. Duck is smaller than those of Ji Rong. Here, duck was cut table-side, whereas, it was pre-cut at JR. The duck skin at Meizhonu has more meat attached to it, which is also how I would prefer. The skin was moist and crispy! The meat was more tender and juicy than JR (I found the skin & meat at JiRong were dry and cold). We also ordered the combo where the rest of duck bones & meat would be cooked in soup and a salt & pepper fried version. Soup was delicious, not the over-salt bouillon soup base. Also I really like the Dongpo pork belly w/ preserved veggies (梅菜扣肉), best in town, and it would make you ask for more rice to finish up the sauce & veggies. Boiled fish (水煮魚) & sausage were tasty too! I also love their shrimps with scallions. Service was fine dining-esque. Best to park near Macy.

Mikii S.

Yelp
Great for special occasions and large crowd. Only got pictures of half the dishes. Everything was great. The standouts for me were surprisingly the veggie dishes. Think the wok heat really made the difference between professional and home cooked veggies. The bamboo and sautéed A veggies were delicious along with the slightly numbing mala chili sliced beef. Fish in chili sauce was ok. Braised pork in special sauce was good...it's a fresh gingery sauce that's not spicy or pungent. Kids enjoyed the duck and got two rounds of the steamed and fried buns for the kiddos. Definitely saucy heavy dishes good with rice. Unfortunately the duck soup was lukewarm.

Hsu W.

Yelp
We had an amazing meal at Meizhou Dongpo Restaurant, and the food was honestly so good. The braised short ribs were probably our favorite, so tender and packed with flavor. The sweet and sour fish was another winner, with the perfect mix of tangy and sweet. And if you like a little heat, the spicy chicken is a must-try. These three dishes really stood out for us. Everything else we ordered was delicious too. The presentation was beautiful, and you could tell they put a lot of care into each dish. It's rare to find a place where almost every item on the menu hits the mark, but Meizhou Dongpo definitely delivered. We're already planning to come back and try more dishes next time. Highly recommend if you're looking for some top-notch Szechuan food!

Maria P.

Yelp
I enjoyed the atmosphere. Food is tasty and service is prompt. I especially enjoyed tasting non American cuisine

Raymond J.

Yelp
Expensive restaurant but many dishes are not so good. There was even spam in one of the dishes! I would not go back.

Will Y.

Yelp
LOCATION: located in the outside food area of the Arcadia Mall, it's hard to miss. Sometimes can be hard to find parking, you would need to park in the garage down below and take the escalator up or park outside and walk in. SERVICE: great service, friendly, food came to the table very fast. Filled up water a couple times. I would think it would be a little better based on the environment of the restaurant. Overall, was good. FOOD: if you like classic spicy Chinese food, this is your spot. The king pal chicken and string beans are delicious. The big rib for $85 is delicious but a little overpriced. The cold noodles with chili oil was delicious as well.

Lina N.

Yelp
Friends birthday dinner together here, we have a private room, very beautiful, freshly baked roast duck is very delicious, we also ordered a live fish, very fresh, beef ribs is my favorite, very good taste, also very beautiful, , if you a party, very recommended here private room, service is also very good, next time will come againyu需 满

Yelp
Amazing food and price is reasonable also big dishes Service is great Decoration is very impressive for entertainment

Jackson C.

Yelp
Stopped by for lunch since I was at the mall. The signature dongpu is good flavor. Duck is great and they had a half off deal on the mapo tofu. The also introduced me to the white rice alcohol. I was amazed how good it tasted. Nice sweet taste and super low price. The waiter said it's even better priced than at the market. Services was superb. Will definitely come again.

Alina W.

Yelp
Love here true china taste! Peking duck is my fav Can't get enough. Will come back soon

This was a different experience I have not really frequented a lot of really authentic Chinese places. This was in the heart of Azusa. There are a lot of cool shops in the area. The food here was good. I went with a Chinese friend who recommended what I should order - maybe not the best idea. She didn't know me and I'm sure this place had better dishes than the one I had. It might be more fun in a bigger group as well so we can all try more dishes. Service was good but all in Chinese so I don't really know what was said - but that's ok. Try it! It's a bit fancy.

Yelp
Serrano beef pepper: 2.8/5 Roast duck sliders: 2.75/5 Stir fried bamboo shoots: 4/5 Setting/interior: 4/5 Customer service: 3/5 Serrano beef pepper was okay... it wasn't bad.. in and of itself, it's a decent dish... not my favorite but...it does taste like homemade cooking... I guess we kind of just hyped it a bit much to ourselves and it fell short of our expectations but it's not a bad dish. Definitely overpriced though. Roast duck slider wasn't the best... in one of the sliders, the duck meat was pretty bad... like they took the left overs from other duck dishes to make our little 3 sliders with since it's not worth it to them to use an actual new duck for just a few pieces of sliders which I can understand but damn at least be fresh... disappointing dish. Best dish we got was the stir fry bamboo shoots... delicious, savory, hearty... that served along with rice can be a meal in and of itself... Customer service wasn't bad... at least they speak English and care about their jobs... but once the food came out, they didn't really come around anymore. Had to flag them down a few times but they were good sport about it (just like we were)... It did take forever for the Roast duck sliders to come out (truthfully they probably forgot about it until we reminded them) but it finally did come out at the end... and if you've read this far then you know how that turned out. I wouldn't go out if my way to come eat here... but if I'm in the area and wanting some authentic food, I don't mind coming back... it'd be nice to try some of the other dishes since they have a pretty great menu... and the wine wasn't bad.

Yelp
Food: I started off with the black fungus appetizer which was very tasty and the entire table enjoyed it 5/5. The vegetable rice was good as well although I think it could've used a bit more veggies 5/5. The wonton soup was oddly spicy and I couldn't quite place it, possibly the ginger or pepper? Not sure but I didn't like it 2/5. The oxtail soup was decent but didn't really stand out to me, the broth was okay but the oxtail itself was good 3/5. Kung pow chicken was the last dish to come out and I feel it would've been better if paired with the rice, unfortunately the rice came out first. 4/5 Drinks: Hot jasmine tea for the table did not disappoint 5/5 Service: we were seated quickly during a busy Saturday night, and we were pleased with the service & attended to often.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my Thanksgiving dinner here to the point I might make it an annual thing. My girlfriends and I knew we wanted some Peking Duck, but didn't have a reservation anywhere on Thanksgiving Day. It wasn't looking good for us until I called Meizhou Dongpo where the very nice hostess advised us to come around the senior citizen hour for a chance to be immediately sat before the rush of reservations would make a long wait inevitable. We showed up early and sat right down! Service was okay and we did have to wait a bit longer than we wanted for the duck, but all of the food was soooo good. The string beans were a pleasant flavorful surprise. The duck was extra crispy.

Yelp
I used to live in Beijing so i've been to some of the Meizhou Dongpo's in their home base. Honestly this place just has a passing semblance to the real deal in China. The setting is beautiful and the ambiance is great, they did a great job on making the restaurant beautiful. We came at 6pm Sunday of memorial day weekend, we had made reservations but our party got larger so we had to add an addtional 5 seats making ours a group of 12, they were able to accomdate us at the last minute so that was cool! We were a group of 7 adults and 5 children. The service was quick prompt and courteous except, that when they tod us it was going to take a while to order a duck because the restaurant was busy, I was told it would take 30-40 min, so we thought nothign of it because we were going to order wine and appetizers the whole lot have a big ass meal. It eventually ended up taking over 1.5 hours for the roast duck to make its appearance at the table (they should've told us about preordering a duck when we called to make rsvp or just give us a real time estimate, sittin around after finishing all your other dishes to wait for a duck is horrible). BUt as far as service goes, they over heard that we had a birthday in the group and they did end the service by giving the birthday person a bowl of longevity noodle soup, so that was a nice touch. Ok back to the food, the food presentations were great all the dishes had great presentation, but a lot of the times the food was just middling, this was especially true of their 2 signature dishes of the roast duck (took too long and was pretty greasy and the skin was not very crispy) it was certainly not good enough to wait almost 2 hours for, but the table side duck service was a pretty cool show. The Meizhou Dongpo Rou (braised pork belly) this dish was over cooked and the meat was kinda stringy instead of fall apart tender, also the sauce was too thin and soupy for this type of dish the portion is also ridiculously small with each portion coming out in a tiny porcelain cup with a tiny brocooli in it. You pay a pretty penny for the ambiance and the service, the food needs work however. I would say this isn't really a restaurant for little children, but surprisingly the kids loved it and they were able to make lots of accomdations for the kids. The kids loved the steamed and fried mantou with condensed milk, that was a hit. go for the ambiance, but keep your expectations low for the food. I could be persuaded to come back but I would definitely temper my expectataions .

Yelp
Came here for a birthday and the food that was ordered were all good dishes. I just let one of my friends sister do all the ordering. I just sat patiently waiting for the food. First up was the cabbage and jelly topped with garlic. It was a bit spicy but I definitely enjoyed. Next up was thinly sliced beef from Yoshinoya over some slaw. That wasn't anything special imo. After that the Peking duck was delivered and that was scrumptious. I didn't get a pic of many of the items we got because we had hungry little kids on the opposite side of the table but I will tell you best I can. So the duck came with these thinly sliced tortillas that you add the duck to and then you sprinkle on some sugar and add thinly sliced cucumbers and this dark sauce and wrap it up like a taco and partake. That duck was awesome as we viewed them slicing it up. The next dish that came were the steamed shrimp which was already peeled and looking fresh. After that the fried rice came out and that was actually tasty. It had whole shrimp in it as it got around to me on the lazy Susan. Next up was this fish swimming in chili peppers which caused me to choke as it went down the wrong tube and was that thing spicy. Of yes it was that spicy. I enjoy the heat but my nose and mouth were runny. I really needed a coke to wash it down but I'm really trying to be good with my soda intake. Next up we got the pea sprouts which was quite bland and possibly undercooked. We also got pork belly and the top pieces were tasty and melted in my mouth but under the top layer it felt kinda tough. We got scalloped and Dan Dan noodles along with duck soup to finish off our meal. The place has nice decor with high ceilings. The wait staff were okay. I needed to ask twice for ice in my water which was annoying but overall food was excellent and worth coming to try at least once. Since this is part of Santa Anita mall there are plenty of spaces to park. All around the area but this portion is outside and close to Macy's.

Yelp
We visited on Christmas Eve to celebrate my friends birthday & thankfully they were open. Even with a full house we were sat within 10 minutes. Staff was super friendly and attentive. Food tasted good & well spiced- they even offered different levels of spicy if needed along with any allergy adjustments. The restaurant itself is beautiful and well lit. Overall it was good, a little expensive but that's what you'd expect from a restaurant inside Santa Anita mall lol.

Yelp
To be fair, food is a 3.5 star, pretty good, but not as good as the OC location (keep in mind its same pricing as OC tho). Other servers was pretty nice, but, our server, we either owe him money or he just got a devorse IDK lol 2.5 in total, not an option so i round it up to 3
