Best if you want to enjoy Authentic Maharashtrian Cuisine. 🥺 Enjoyed every bite of the food. From Fish thali to Veg Thali to misal pav, vada paav, everything

An Absolute Gem for Maharashtrian Cuisine – 10/10! Mejwani is hands down one of the best places to experience authentic Maharashtrian food! Every dish is packed with traditional flavors that instantly take you home. If you’re a fan of Maharashtrian-style non-vegetarian fare, this place is a dream come true. Their fish thali and chicken vade are simply outstanding — rich, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. You can truly taste the love and heritage in every bite. The spice, the texture, the authenticity — everything is spot on! The ambience is warm and welcoming, and the staff is truly exceptional — they go the extra mile to make your day feel special and ensure you have the best experience possible. Whether you’re a local or just discovering Maharashtrian cuisine, Mejwani is a must-visit. Trust me — it’s a 10/10 experience you’ll keep coming back for!

If comfort had a flavor, it would be Maharashtrian food. The spread I tried felt like a warm hug, rooted in tradition yet bursting with bold flavors. Starting with the Misal Pav, it was everything you’d hope for – a fiery, tangy, and slightly earthy curry topped with crunchy farsan, perfectly balanced by the soft pav. Every bite packed a punch, leaving that addictive heat you secretly crave. The Pithla-Bhakri stole my heart – the simplicity of gram flour curry with its rustic, garlicky taste paired beautifully with the warm jowar bhakri. It’s the kind of dish that makes you slow down and savor. And then came the star of the evening: Puran Poli, Modak, Shrikhand. Sweet, fragrant, and buttery with ghee, it was comfort on a plate – the perfect ending to a spicy meal. What stood out most was how diverse the flavors are – from fiery Kolhapuri spice bombs to the subtle coconut-kissed curries from the Konkan coast. Every dish felt like it carried a story of the land and the people. Larson provided excellent service throughout our meal. Verdict: Maharashtrian cuisine is more than just food – its culture served on a plate. If you love spice, comfort, and soul-satisfying meals, this is a journey your taste buds deserve.

One of our friends recommended this place for aam rass and puri during summers. I went on the day of Rakshabandhan and despite it being a weekend, the wait time was not more than 10 minutes. There’s tons of parking, and the restaurant is very spacious. The wall art, the music, menu, everything reminded me of malvani restaurants in Mumbai❤️ We ordered kothambir wadi and zunka bhakar for appetizer. The portion sizes were perfect for an appetizer for 2 people. The green chutney and garlic chutney with both were delicious 😋 For our main course we had to try the authentic Maharashtrian veg kolhapuri. Instead of going for naans, we decided to go with bajani che vade (which is like a puri) but it’s made with different flour. It reminded me of Mumbai’s kombdi vade 🤌🏼🫶🏼 kolhapuri was perfectly spiced, portions were good enough for us, it came with rice. We ended our dinner with kharvas (dessert made with colostrum) 🤌🏼 it’s very rare that I find kharvas on menus and this did not disappoint. We also got ukhdi cha modak to go 😋 everything was well balanced. I would definitely suggest this place for its authentic maharashtrian/malvani taste and menu. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We love this place and have become sort of regulars. We drive 30 minutes to come here because we like it so much. My favorites are the Maharashtrian starters—thaalipeeth, batata vada, puri bhaaji etc. My hubby is not Indian but loves Indian food especially Maharashtrian food and his favorite dishes are the fried fish, crab, and delicious Maharashtrian curries. The sol kadhi and kokum sarbat are amazing. Our server, Larsen was wonderful and very attentive. The ambience is nice, bright sunshiny colors and they have very beautiful art on the walls. I love that they have Marathi music playing. I think my only recommendation to them would be to please consider serving chai/ coffee. You need to have garam chaha with batata vada or thaalipeeth😊

If you're a seafood lover, particularly of the Maharashtrian coastal variety, you should try out this place in Edison, NJ. Specializing in authentic Pomfret and Surmai thalis, this restaurant is a true homage to the flavors of the Konkan coast. We visited on a weekend evening and were greeted warmly by the cheerful owner, whose energy immediately set the tone for what turned out to be a fantastic dining experience. The manager, Sam, was incredibly courteous and attentive, making sure every detail was taken care of. We ordered the Pomfret Thali & it came with a perfectly fried pomfret & its coconut pomfret curry, perfectly spiced prawns masala, light and flavorful rice bhakri, and the much-loved SolKadi — refreshing and balanced. Alongside that, we added a crispy Surmai fry, a melt-in-your-mouth Bombil fry, Pomfret tandoori that was smoky and well-marinated, tender Malai kabab, and for good measure, some classic batata vada and sabudana vada. & not to forget its Kharwas for sweet tooth Every item was spot-on in terms of taste and preparation. What truly stands out here is not just the food, but the feeling that you're being welcomed into someone’s home. It’s rare to find a place that balances authentic flavor, warm hospitality, and a genuinely cheerful vibe so well.

Google
Mejwaani is the go-to spot for authentic Maharashtrian cuisine. We tried a fair bit, the vada pav, thalipeeth, puri bhaji shrikhand, and their thali too. The veggie thali isn’t officially on the menu but it is something they’ve started to offer, and it was really good. Price point wise it’s pretty solid. Would 100% recommend paying a visit.

Kya Baat, Kya Baat, Kya Baat!!! 🙏🔥🤩 I must say, I have never encountered such a delightful and satisfying experience – five stars! This establishment truly embodies the essence of Marathi taste. The food is exceptionally good, prepared with authentic ingredients and without compromise, resulting in an undeniably genuine taste. The service is incredibly welcoming and attentive, creating a warm and homely atmosphere where one feels truly cared for. Food I ate: - bombil fry (bombay duck) - stuffed pomfret fry - Surmai thali (king fish) - thecha chicken (I guess because this was presented as surprise to us by the chef. Amazing taste of green chillies) - thecha paneer appetizer - Solkadi Our server was very attentive, made sure we were enjoying the food. I had flew from SATx and when I mentioned them they went beyond their closing time to fetch whatever we wanted to order letting us enjoy our time at Mejwani. He served us Sheera in dessert and that was just a perfect 👌 finish to our dine in experience. Could only hold upto two pics after that I was all lost and indulged in the moment. Never have I ever really!

Yelp
Food is freshly made and lovingly served ! We usually order the goat curry thali and fish . The kokam drink is good but kinda expensive!!

Yelp
I strolled into the restaurant with great enthusiasm to taste Konkani seafood. We had the fish thali and the fish fry both with king fish or surmai as it is called in Mumbai. The fish fry was OK and while the fish curry was good the spices were definitely missing. Sol kadi also missed the mark. The only thing that was memorable was the exorbitant pricing. I have been craving Indian seafood for sometime and Mejwani did not satisfy that craving. Will have to go back and try a couple of other dishes just for ambiance sake.

Yelp
My girl and I decided on a whim to come here for dinner after walking around Menlo Park Mall for a little bit in the afternoon. When entering from Grove Ave, it's easy to be a little bit confused because the restaurant is stuck in the corner behind what used to be Stop n Shop and such. The shopping center is certainly very empty without the anchor grocery store, so it's often quite easy to miss this. Knowing that the restaurant opens dinner service around 6, we got here just before then and realized that the staff was already accepting people beforehand. That was great. As my girl is from Goa, this was a place that was on her mind for some time to try. Likewise, I wanted to try some authentic Maharastrian food too. To start, we ordered a mango lassi & a Kaira Panha. I stuck with the former, which was great. My girl enjoyed her drink too, though def not my first preference. For an appetizer, we ordered the Kothimbir Wadi. This was quite tasty and well enjoyed with the chutney. Certainly authentic. For the main meal, my girl enjoyed her fish fry. I got the Veg. Kohlapuri along with Garlic Naan. The Kohlapuri was good and was easily able to finish it. The only small gripe we had was that the tomato-based curry kinda reminded me of a North Indian korma that you'd get from other establishments. My girl noted this and do wonder whether this is truly the proper way of making and enjoying a Vegetarian Kohlapuri. She noted it was meant to not have a tomato base and was supposed to be a bit more flavorful. As this was my first time, I'm not sure if I can fully validate this, but it's worth a question. Nonetheless, I can't complain about the food. Just simply a curiosity on my end.

Yelp
What an amazing experience! I saw the pictures and great reviews and knew this is the place I wanted to try since I never tried Thali. Thali consists of everything for a perfect meal, appetizer, entree, carbs, dessert and a digestive drink. The server was so awesome at explaining some items to me. And everything tasted great! The lamb and chicken had some similar components and would pick based on protein preference. The dishes have some spiciness to it. What was super interesting is the pink digestive drink. The flavor was so unique and refreshing. It was salty and sour. After the drink, I felt less full. The restaurant looks so fancy. The food looks and taste amazing. The serves is great. Also, my fingers smelled fabulous for hours; I didn't want to wash them and reminisce all scent from the food. While leaving I saw someone with a fish Tahli. I shall try that on my next visit!

Yelp
This place is a bit hidden way in a strip mall, a bit far from the Indian streets of Edison. Post a few rave reviews from my fnds I went for a Friday afternoon quick lunch and ordered a thali . The service was fast but food was a bit sub par the gravy of most of the dishes felt watered down and lacked flavor, the pink sol kadi or the drink accompaniment and the fried fish was the only thing that was worth remembering!

Yelp
Kidaan New Jersey! This Ganesh Chaturthi, as we open our homes and hearts to Lord Ganesha, why not treat yourself to some authentic Maharashtrian dishes at Mejwaani in Edison? Here are my top recommendations: Aamras Puri - a summer delight of Aamras--a luscious mango puree enhanced by hints of saffron and cardamom served with puri, it's a heavenly combo! Swaad aa gaya ji! Poori Bhaji Shrikhand - this comforting classic aloo bhaji with poori will remind you of home and the creamy and thick Shrikhand is my favorite of all time! Misal Pav - Experience the authentic taste of the mixed sprout spicy curry. Top it with farsan, onions, lemon, and chilies, and take a BIG BITE the iconic mumbai wala pav! Ek Number ji! Jhunka Bhaakar - served with desi ghee bhaakri -this savory mix of chickpea flour sautéed with garlic, chilies, and cilantro, served with a sprinkle of dry garlic powder and onions is Iconic! Thalipeeth - crisp, flavorful and fragrant! made from blend of different lentil flours, tomatoes, onions, and chopped chilies! You really can go for a second, or even a third without any guilt. And don't forget to try their mouth-watering **vada pav, sabudana vada,** and **Kothimbir Wadi** for an unforgettable feast!

Yelp
As always, had a fantastic yummy dinner this past week. The food was super fresh and delicious. The service was fantastic as always and they even gave us a complementary dessert. They've opened a small banquet hall which is visible from the regular seating.

Yelp
This was my second time at this restaurant. We ordered the fish thali with pomfret, the bombil fry, teesrya, bharli bhendi, mutton biryani, chicken lollipops and some sol kadi. The service was very good. As for the food, the biryani was excellent. Good portion of meat with ample masala so that the rice was nice and moist. Chicken lollipops were also nicely done as was the bombil fry. The fish thali was served with a good sized fried pomfret and the head of the fish was served with the curry which was part of the thali. The thali could use a couple more vegetables just to add some variety. The teesrya was a bit disappointing. Most of the clams were empty. Some clams were loose in the masala. Masala was good but it needed some clams which held their form through the preparation process. A nice surprise was the malai kulfi which was nice and creamy. So if we go back here, we know what's good and what's not. Hope this helps.

Yelp
Loved the food....there was no doubt we would love it. We know the owner of the place and the creator of the yummies on the plates - Supriya and have ordered from her years back. Were happy to be here in her restaurant! The ambience is clean and comfortable. Service is attentive and quick. We had ordered - Chatpata Techa Paneer Tikka and Veg kholapuri with bajri and rice bhakri. Food came out fresh, pipping hot and was yummy. It was so sweet of Supriya to recognize an old acquittance and give us complimentary sweet dish - puran poli and sheer. The puran poli was sooo yummy my husband had to make sure I dont end buying a few more dishes to go! Definitely coming back for more!

Yelp
Definitely an amiable ambiance. Good friendly service. We had ordered kothimbir vadi for starters. Had it for the first time. Tasted good. For the main course it was pomfret fish thali and mutton curry thali and malvani egg curry. The fish and mutton were nicely cooked. Finally we ordered puran poli. I found it a bit dry as compared to what I have tasted earlier. Apart from this we enjoyed our meal.

Yelp
What a food - good quality, fresh and awesome awesome awesome. A little pricy but satisfaction was great. Usually when I come out of a restaurant you feel too bloated but here it was amazing. Please go!

Yelp
Great food great service and good ambiance Food is authentic to Maharashtra region Vegetarian options are good The only reason they got 2 stars is they don't offer tea of any kind That is blasphemy for aMaharashtra restaurant
google avatar

Ashwini D.

Yelp
Not a place for Maharashtrian vegetarian thali, coz you can prepare all this at home without too much effort. Masale bhat was alright, varan was okayyyy, like how can you mess this up, chana usal and bhindi were also okay. One of their best things you can order is their Puranpoli. Came with ghee and milk on the side. It was warm, flaky and perfectly sweet. Loved the elaichi proportion in it. Also ordered the kharvas. I have had their kharvas previously in their first location and it did not taste artificial, this one is just like any another alternative to kharvas served. Probably best if you are a sea food lover or a meat eater to try their other delicacies but not a place to try the v thali. They dolled up pretty well from the preand now can intake a lot of people inside with decent interiors. Also the parking is ample.

Yelp
Took my friend out for her birthday in the middle of the week. We went about an hour-ish before last call and enjoyed the food! The servers were knowledgeable about the menu and assisted us in choosing our chicken entree (unfortunately, I forgot the specific name). The seating was very typical for indian restaurants, very family oriented but the decor was pretty. Definitely recommend coming for a nice, intimate dinner. It's also BYOB!
google avatar

Chandni D.

Yelp
First time trying authentic marathi food and it was a great experience! We got the sabudana kichadi, dahi batata sev puri, misal pav, and kothambir vadi. The sabudana kichadi and the misal pav were definitely my favorite and I would recommend. The dahi batata sev puri could've used more chutney and the vadi were a bit dry but still good. Overall, it was a great meal and I will definitely be back to try more!

Yelp
So glad we reached Mejwaani at 1 pm because as we sat in the restaurant was full and there was a long waiting line. The ambiance looked pretty clean and comfortable. For food, we started with thalipeet which was good. The disappointment was they served it with sour cream and ketchup. I wish they served it with thecha and butter. We ordered kothimber vada that was good. Vada pav was great. Misal pav was great. Veg thali was yum! Ussal was delicious. For drinks, we ordered sol kadhi and masala chaas both were delicious and refreshing.

sanjoli k.

Yelp
I ordered 2 things , chicken malwani curry and veg kolhapuri. Chicken malwani was good in taste but way too less quantity! So disappointing to see how can a place serve a tiny bowl worth of 20$ !! Veg kohlapuri was nothing like kohlapuri. It was just like regular mix veg curry with bland runny tomato curry ! The most astonishing part was this place serves FROZEN CHAPATI ! It was hard dry as it they only reheat frozen bad chapati! Don't order chapati at all. I had to order naan then which was good

Yelp
I was atlast able to taste food at Mejwaani. was planning for sometime now. There have been so many restaurants in the same place before (nala bheema, persis etc), and this one is better than most of the others before. i wish i could have given a 5 star, if not for a couple of things ... Positives: First of all, i ordered a thali.. food was really awesome.. 5/5 for the food definitely. thali seems to be less quantity, to begin with.. but when u finish, its actually perfect.. right quantities.. chicken keema was just outstanding.. never tasted such good kheemas before in Edison. curry was good.. nice and good flavor.. biryani was good too.. chapati was like the chapati we get in patels (ready made ones).. and to finish - kala jamun was just awesome.. 20$ for the thali wasnt bad. Service was good too. parking facilities are good. interiors are good, and lots of tables to sit and eat Negatives : They dont give you options to choose the starter or curry, in the thali..for eg - if someone doesnt like kheema, you can atleast order a chicken 65 or something . menu doesnt tell the starter you will get with the meal.. 2nd negative is - they charge extra for a chapati, or anything else. so, dont get fooled by them asking - do u guys want extra chapati. there is no mention in the menu about extras, and their costs. 2$ for one chapati was a waste for me. Overall it was a great experience with food. Food cost is ok.. just eat that, and dont order anything extra. its worth it..

Yelp
Get some authentic Maharashtrian food. Love Thalipeeth. Good service and great menu options for vegetarians.
google avatar

Swetha R.

Yelp
We ordered the thali. Cute restaurant and wasn't very packed. Service was fast for the thali but any a la carte dishes took a while. The pomfret thali was really good and highly recommended. The chicken curry in the thali was disappointing as it was very watery. But I'll come back for the fish and sol kadhi
google avatar

Nischinth S.

Yelp
This is my second visit within the last 3 months. My maharashtrian friend loves the food here. My first experience with food was better than the second. We ordered 3 different fish appetizers off which 2 were good and one marginally above average on my 2nd visit while all three were good on my first visit. The location is apparently being moved to Edison. However, the owners plan to keep the current location open for take outs. Note, the 2 times I visited I was pretty full as this was our last stop on our foodie trip to NYC.

Yelp
Best around! Friendly staff, great food, fun atmosphere. Good food and a good time Hahahahah

Sona K.

Yelp
Unfortunately, my recent visit to Mejwani left me with a bitter taste in my mouth - both literally and figuratively. Firstly the food, I must say that the prices were quite steep for the small serving sizes. While the menu boasted of exotic and flavorful dishes, the actual portions were disappointingly meager. Moreover, the taste did not live up to the expectations set by the menu. The flavors were lackluster and the spices seemed to be missing from the dishes. Overall, the food failed to impress and was not worth the price we paid. my experience was marred by the rude behavior of the owner and the overpriced, unsatisfactory food. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a pleasant dining experience with good food. The restaurant needs to address the issue of their owner's behavior and improve the quality and quantity of their dishes before they can expect to earn positive reviews.
google avatar

Omkar H.

Yelp
Great restaurant and very authentic. Fish was fresh and tasted just like what we get in india. Chicken curry was exceptional, and the portions for the thalis were perfect. Staff was very friendly and helpful as well.
google avatar

Priti J.

Yelp
Excellent food. Food that you cant find everywhere. Must try! They get extremely busy.
google avatar

Dewan A.

Yelp
I am so glad this Maharashtra-style Indian restaurant exists. 1) The restaurant serves food from Maharashtra, the state the city of Mumbai is the state capital. 2) They have unique food you will not find anywhere. I tried the vada pav and malvani chicken. Both were excellent. 3) The must get item here is the puran poli. One of the best tasting sweet breads out there.
google avatar

Aishwarya W.

Yelp
I always love Maharashtrian food. I always visit Mejwaani when i miss my mom's food from India. I love their fish fry. Malwani chicken, kombadi vadi. They have delicious thali. Veg and Non veg. Their khothimbir vadi and aalu vadi must try. Overall i love their menu and keep visiting.
google avatar

Hemanth D.

Yelp
If I could give this restaurant 6 out of 5, I would have. This is Maharashtra food and you don't get this in normal Indian restaurants. That bread you get (Baakra) is soooooo much better than unhealthy and tasteless naan that so many Indian restaurants serve. Junkaa Baakar, Kothimbir Wadi, Thalipeeth - all of these traditional Maharashtra food were so tasty and healthy!! So Refreshing!!! I'll definitely visit here if I'm ever in the area again.
google avatar

Ambika S.

Yelp
This was my first time trying some of tge maharashtrain delicacies but my husband has lot of experience in it. We ordered misal pav jhunka bhakri n vada pao. It was all decent but lacked that kick of spice that one gets in authentic misal same with vada pao, i have had better, this was good but not the wow factor. Jhunka bhakri and kind of dal it was served with was but bland when my husband said it should have been spicy. We also got saoji chicken curry and veg kolhapuri for takeout, I was trying saoji for first time and it didn't impress me, but I don't know how authentic it was. Kolhapuri was decent as per my husband. I liked solkadi, i was having that for first time as well. Prices are bit steeper than I expected

Yelp
Authentic Maharashtrian place located in Edison! Great ambiance, amazing service and even more authentic and tasty food! Everything on the menu is delicious - you literally won't go wrong with anything. We went on a Monday evening, and apparently it was super packed, but it was worth the wait. Will definitely visit again, but next time will make sure to reserve a table in advance. Recommendations: Vada pav - very authentic, very delicious vada served with dry garlic chutney Chole bhature - amazing flavorful of the spices, with fluffy and light bhature Saoji chicken curry - extraordinarily delicious, flavorful, filled with spices, chicken curry made in coconut gravy. MUST TRY!
google avatar

Reshma K.

Yelp
Superb , most authentic tasting food , great service inspite of them having so much waiting. Loved the ambiance too . This has become our go to place when we miss Maharashtrian food .

Yelp
Glad to find authentic Marathi cuisine in US. This was our first time visiting, so we tried Spl. Goat Thali, Spl. Surmai Thali, and Bombil fry. Bombil (Bombay Duck) is hard to find in US and Mejwani's preparation was really good, so it's definitely highlight for us. Surmai fry, Goat kheema and Bhaakri was very good as well. Solkadhi was very authentic. Mejwaani's service is also very good. Very attentive and respectful staff. Only thing I wish could've been better is Goat curry. It seemed like Goat was cooked separately and added to the curry. The spice level could've been 1 notch up, but overall wonderful experience.

Yelp
Excellent Maharashtrian food. Reminds you of home. Ideal for both vegetarians and non vegetarians.

Yelp
Me and my husband were craving vada pav and dabeli and unfortunately by the time we started searching for restaurants, most of them were closed except Mejwaani. Came in with zero expectations tbh but oh boy the food was delicious. It was super packed and had to wait for almost 30 mins but definitely worth the wait. Recommendations - vada pau - cholle bhature - aloo papdi chat - coconut chicken curry One of the best Indian restaurant in the area. Definitely coming again
google avatar

Aashil D.

Yelp
This is a hidden jem in Edison specially for Indian food. It was so refreshing to taste something different and authentic indian food. We ordered Kothimbir Vadi, Sabudana Vada, Misal Pav, Thecha Paneer and Vada Pav. Each dish was totally upto the mark and the taste was what you would expect from such food. The service was great and staff was friendly. Definitely going to visit it for second time.
google avatar

Priya V.

Yelp
Got seated without a reservation. They take forever to take your order. For drinks we got the solkadi, aam panha and masala soda. They all have some masala in it and reflect the taste of hajmola. I would skip. For our appetizers we got the sabudana wada and a boneless fish fry. These were amazing! Not too spicy - just perfect! For our entrees, we got the mutton sukka, malvani chicken curry and the veg kolhapuri. We got some rice and bhajani wade as sides. The mutton sukka was splendid - extremely flavorful. The malvani chicken curry lacked salt and spice and tasted rather bland. The veg kolhapuri had a weird smell - perhaps due to the vegetables being raw? But they taste home cooked ( which is rare for a restaurant) . They use moderate oil and no cream ( which I loved). I also got their sweet paan and enjoyed it. I would come back just for the appetizers! ( so good) Service was good barring the initial wait.

Yelp
Came here for lunch, place was busy but it took a long time to get seated on already empty tables. Tried the bombay fried fish, chicken special and potatoe bread. The fish was great, really enjoyed the spices on it but it is a small portion since doesn't come with sides. The chicken special was ok would not get again and not a fan of the pink drink it comes with. Overall very tasty meal.

Yelp
Best maharshtrian food in united states I have ever had. We drove here around 9.25 pm to pick our order and Nesh uncle was so nice that he invited us inside and asked if we would like to EAT sitting here. I think it was the best service we have ever received. Food was authentic, fresh, and served hot. We had Kharvas, puranpoli, Veg thali, pav bhaji,& Solkadi. Each pf the dish was delicious. Wish they had more branches. If you are in NJ please do visit here.

Yelp
I always thought that this will be another regular desi takeout place and never bothered to look at the menu. Last week a friend spoke highly about this place and it's food. They serve Marathi style food. I went there the next day. It is a family owned small and clean restaurant. They had a vast variety of food starting from great street food from Maharashtra to Kairi Panha, Piyush, Solkadi to Kombdi Vade , Special Goat, Chicken , Fish Platters etc etc etc. We ordered : Kairi Panha Misal Paav Kombdi Vade Special Goat Platter Special Chicken Platter The taste was very authentic. They served 1 bhakri and 1 soft Chapati. Vade were delicious. Well, I am going again to have another round of Vade with Goat curry very soon. I give 4 stars to Mejwaani.
google avatar

Nil K.

Yelp
Great food, loved the stuffed pomfret. Misal an Kothimbirvadi were OK. Vada pav and Dabeli were great too.
google avatar

Anushka B.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time with expectations of authentic marathi food. Ordered vada pao, misal pao, chicken lollipop, bombil fry, pomphret fry, kombdi vada, kairi panna, kala khatta soda and masala soda. The ambience is good and completely desi vibes and the service is quick and people are friendly. Food proportions are good, moderate - high price. Food tastes good - decent. However all the food items are extremely oily so that needs to be worked on asap. Drinks were not good so better recipes needed. Menu is diverse and definitely worth a try.

Yelp
Amazing! Amazing!! Amazing!!! I come from the region of India (Mumbai) that this restaurant's menu focuses on and I will vouch that it is authentic and so so yummy! In fact, the owner hails from the exact location in Mumbai that I was born in :) We had the surmai curry, fried halwa, and mutton vada. Everything was to die for. I was amazed that they were able to get fresh Indian fish varieties - apparently from New York. And they had kharwas for dessert! I asked the owner where they got the special milk that you need for this and he said Philly. It's clearly a labor of love. That was evident in both the husband and wife constantly checking to make sure we enjoyed the food. Which we most certainly did. It was like going for dinner to a friend's house and the good stuff just keeps getting rolled out. My only regret (and surprise) is that I found out about this place 6 years after they've been open. I do not know of a single restaurant in all of US that serves this specific cuisine from India. Kudos just for that!

Yelp
My friends were raving about this place and just wouldn't stop talking about this telling me to give it a try and how this place served the best Indian (Maharashtrian & Konkan) food. I must confess, after trying some of their offerings, I've also joined that club now. YOU MUST GIVE THIS PLACE A TRY! Let me point out by saying that they serve one of the most authentic Indian styled fried fish. Their bombil fry is second to none. All of their fried fish have those authentic Indian flavor that is very hard to find in any Indian restaurant. We had ordered quite a few items to give this place a proper go. For appetizers we went with Gobi Manchurian - Indo Chinese style fried cauliflower fried with tangy, spicy and sweet sauce mixture . Here's everything we had from the fried fish menu- bombil fry, pomfret fry, surmai fry - all the fish were smell free and fresh. For rice we went with Veg Schezwan Fried Rice - had a lot of flavor and was a little spicy. Finally, for curries we got a few namely chicken korma, Malvani chicken and paneer butter masala - the paneer and malvani chicken were good but the korma was a little bland given everything we had prior to this. The appetizers, fried fishes and the rice were fantastic. The curries were a little lacking and didn't stand out. This restaurant has a small indoor dining and isn't flashy with its decor. They sway you with their food. Given the current circumstances going on, indoor dining is closed so I had ordered takeout. The quantity of food is decent and the prices were very reasonable. If you are craving for some typical Maharashtrian/ Konkan food, then do give this place a try.

Yelp
One of the best Indian restaurants I've ever dined in and the staff is extremely helpful for those not familiar with the food but get there early because every table was taken by 6:30 on a Sunday night.

Yelp
Literally the best maharashtrian food in the country. Having had my fare share of Bombay sandwiches at churchgate, chindian food from five spice and home-cooked kohlapuri chicken - it brought me back to my childhood days. If you've ever been a mumbaikar, do yourself a favor come here and the food will make you reminisce those days. I will be back very soon with a very large appetite.

Yelp
My sister and brother-in-law introduced us to this place, a small family run business, and we thoroughly enjoyed their food. Their Kombi Wade is absolutely spot on and delicious! Priced on a little expensive side, it's worth spending that kind of money for some delicious authentic Maharashtrian food! Service, understandably takes a bit of hit during their peak business hours, but food is made fresh to order and is worth the wait. The only thing I did not like is the foam containers they serve their food in. Initially they used to serve in proper plates, but am sure that adds to additional time for cleaning plates.

Yelp
Simple, Sumptuous, Satisfying sums up our experience at Mejwaani! A Husband and wife duo run this restaurant serving authentic Maharashtrian cuisine. The wife ( Priya) does all the cooking, and she rocks at it! Don't ignore or pass on this unassuming little eatery based on the location, size or ambience. No pretty hostess , fancy dinnerware or dim lights. Paper plates, plastic silverware, clear your own plates and fill your water is what awaits you, but that shouldn't be a turn off. Wait it out and you won't regret . We came here with family, who had lunch at this place earlier. They loved the Thaali and Vada Pav, that they got the battalion for their next visit, to try the exhaustive dinner menu. It was the perfect post Christmas gift for us! If you are a foodie and have tried food from the Konkan region, you will definitely appreciate the food here. Even better If you have not, but are an avid food explorer and wanting to tingle your taste buds, just walk in and try anything on their menu and I am positive you will not go wrong. Here's everything we tried, tested and rated 5 stars - Kothimbir Vadi - steamed and fried to perfection. - Thalipeeth - soft slightl crisp with loads of subtle flavor served with sour cream and ketchup - it's hard to stop after a couple ! - Jhunka Baakar- Chickpea flour stew served with Indian Bread made from Millet and Sorghum . A healthy alternative. - Surmai Fry( mackerel) - coated with aromatic konkan spices and deep fried - A squeeze of lime and sliced onion amps up the flavor - Shrimp Fry -deep fried and seasoned well making it a perfect appetizer. - Rice and Dal served with homemade Mango pickle - how can Dal taste sooo good that it makes you slurp after every mouthful . Takes you straight to Aayi's (Mom's) kitchen - Alu Paratha and Achar- Soft potato stuffed Parathas served with mixed veg pickle and sour cream . Comfort food at its best. Chicken curry with Naan- A tribal style curry which is not too spicy nor tangy. Onion Pakora- Crispy fried onions in chick pea flour leads to limitless eating.. Misal Pav- One of Bombay street food choices - was a treat to taste after eons! Puran Poli- Do not miss this jaggery and cardamom stuffed sweet dish severed warm dripping in clarified butter . How can something taste soo divine that it opens up your 7th sense ! To sum it up, Make a leisurely trip here and try their food choices. You will be treated like family, served fresh hot homemade food, with a not so big dent in your pocket. You will leave with the desire to come back and also bring your friends and extended family over, to flaunt your new found amazing restaurant pick! Simply put, "Never judge a book by its cover" fits Mejwaani!
