Mel's Burger Bar

My sweetheart and I entered with enthusiasm and hunger. After attending a basketball game at the Garden, we came for a beer or two and food. Upon entering we were greeted by a young man who offered one option for seating. It was a table by the door as I was looking an empty table further inside. Later finding an entire section with empty tables in the back area. My partner and I sat, waited and then ordered two beers after two glasses of water was placed on our table (which was sticky). The wait for two beers was too long. After several minutes a young woman came over to take our order. Our chicken wing appetizer arrived without small plates and napkins (the norm to provide for an appetizer). I had to ask for straws. There were only two napkins in the table supply bin and we had to use those to dispose of our bones. Five seconds after our plates of food hit the table the young woman came to ask how the food was. Had she looked she'd be able to clearly see we hadn't touch it yet. A minute later she came back and two minutes after that she came back again. It became annoying. I ordered a cheeseburger and sweet potato fries. The fries were cooked and seasoned to great satisfaction. The burger had much to be desired. It lacked seasoning, the shredded lettuce was too much and sloppy (poor choice to shred). I enjoyed the music that was playing overhead. (Trying to point out some positives) The feeling of the staff was as if they did not want to work and the service provided reflected that. There was a lack of attention to detail, welcoming service and professionalism. I was extremely disappointed. Having worked in the service industry I observed plenty of opportunities missed to make more money for the establishment. I observed a staff member having to chase after a patron for lack of payment. My partner had to go looking for the young woman to ask for our bill. He was equally disappointed and was more than ready to go. We will not be returning to this establishment. My hope is that my review will strongly encourage the owner to re-train the staff or hire some that are happy to work on a Sunday with pride, professionalism and efficiency. Also, something of a uniform (if a bar t-shirt w/jeans for staff) would be beneficial for cohesive appearance as opposed to a frumpy sweater, lose hair, college dorm look.

For a local burger bar, this place is great. Absolutely love their fried stuff (tater tots, onion rings), and their burgers. I personally think their wings are a bit dry but my partner loves them, so it's gotta be a personal preference. We've been on a weekday when it was empty and on a weekend when it's full - love both vibes and we will definitely be back for whenever we have a craving for chill burger vibes.

Amazing burgers! we got the Hot Mess and French onion.. SO good. great drinks, reasonably prices on everything. good atmosphere and plenty of seating. Highly recommend if you are in the city!

This place attracts a younger crowd, but that didn't stop us coming in to feed our burger craving during a cold winter weekday evening. There were seats open in the back. Our server was fast, friendly, attentive, and helpful in recommending what to order. We had the Cali and the Bacon cheeseburger, both cooked medium and served hot. I loved the crispy fries, esp since they were the thick ones. I did have envy for the nearby table who had tator tots. I'll definitely come back to enjoy the casual atmosphere and bar food. Enjoy!

Great servers. Beers are 12 ounces priced as a pint. I’ve never ordered a beer and expected it to come in anything less than a pint glass unless it’s some craft beer clearly marked as a smaller size. Additionally no baby changing bad

I’m gonna break down this review into three parts. First, the food. I got a cheeseburger with American cheese and it was 7/10 honestly. A little dry, and WAY too much lettuce. Next time I’ll ask for no lettuce. Anyway, the fries that I got were pretty fine, just a little too crispy and got nasty and cold quickly. 6/10. Overall low 4 ⭐️. Second, the service. Let me tell you, I had to wait 15-20 minutes to get a server’s attention for a water refill. The food takes ages to arrive, so I suggest coming here only for a milkshake or something other than lots of food. Overall high 2 ⭐️. Finally, the atmosphere. It was loud and crowded, and quite rowdy honestly. 3 ⭐️. Overall, it was very mid. Nothing too special, just an average American burger place. It was on the lower end, so that’s why I’m giving it 3 ⭐️.

The perfect spot when you have a burger craving. Went here for happy hour and a small bite and definitely didn’t disappoint. The sliders were really good! Cooked perfectly! The perfect bite with some fries and cocktails. Definitely hit the spot. Service was good as well. Highly recommend!

a nice place if you want to drink and get just a little rowdy. mostly a younger crowd. loud music. the food was fine, wings weren’t that great. i paid in cash and my change was $24.24 but did not receive the .24 cents. it’s only a couple coins but it’s the principle of giving what is owed…

Cool burger spot on the upper east side. Sports bar meets dive bar. A lot of speciality cocktails on the menu along with a decent amount of beers on tap. Mostly burgers on the menu and you can taste the high quality meat. All of the toppings tasted very fresh. Mac and cheese balls tasted just like a big spoon full of mac and cheese from a tray. Onion rings had a great crunch and weren't overly battered.

The food here is actually good, but what made we give 3 stars was my most recent experience. I ordered a beer from Mel's Burger Bar before ordering my food, of course. When the beer came out, it looked very frothy--which is always nice. However, upon looking into the beer I saw lots of pulp from a remaining drink. I didn't order a citrus-like beer or anything with pulp so I was shocked to see it. I got the server's attention and they didn't believe me at first until I had to point it out. They apologized and gave me another drink: I requested a Sprite this time. It was kinda gross to get that pulpy beer...but what made it worse was I was still charged for this beer. I doubt I'll ever come back.

I usually like Mel's but this was crazy.... 1 piece of French toast for $29.... The other meals that were ordered at table were normal portion sizes... but for $29 getting 1 piece is legitimately a rip off. Don't order it. Their bottomless brunch is solid but this really annoyed me this time.

Mel's Burger Bar Not has a good variety of beers, and delicious appetizers . I found that the the sliders stole the show. They are packed with flavor and cooked to so well. The staff Wes attentive and the bar was really cool. It had low lights with almost a cowboy feel Tucked away in the back, there's a hidden speakeasy. I'm looking forward to visit the speakeasy on another day! It seems like a great place to have a steak or burger.

Came here on recommendation from a good friend and the result was a quality selection of pub foods. Let's dive in ... French Onion Burger (4/5): This patty came smothered in Swiss and caramelized onions. The bread was suple but also sliding all over because of the creamy sauce on the cheese, so it was hard to stop and start eating this burger. All in, it was quite tasty with the au jus for dipping! Sweet Potato Fries (4/5): These shoestring-style sweet potato fries were cooked to a perfect crunch and crisp. The dipping sauce (I think their special?) was a nice flavor but I would prefer it a bit thicker like the consistency of ketchup. But that's just me nitpicking -- we enjoyed this! Onion Rings (4/5): The batter was airy and a crunch was audible with every bite. The onion was sweet but I'd argue marginally overpowered by the batter. Same dipping sauce as the fries. Quick Note: Their bottomless options look very reasonable price-wise and I would come back for that if it wasn't dry January. Ambiance (5/5): Fun bar, tables, and high tops set up and not stacked on top of one another with unique lighting in the back. Service (5/5): Server was nice, patient while we ordered, and came by to check in after we got our food. Said goodbye on the way out. Quite lovely. TL;DR: Solid fried foods and burgers here. Ambiance is perfect for brunch, burgers, and beers. Will need to return to try bottomless.

Fun NFL Sunday experience. The food was really good, the nachos were loaded and their wings lived up to the hype. Recommend the Buffalo and garlic Parmesan, the BBQ was just ok. Minus a half star cause the beer wasn't that cold. This 3.5 round up to 4, I liked this place overall.

the food here is amazing but the SERVICE!!!! it outweighs the food by far! I have never been to a bar with such caring & personable bartenders! the drinks and food are great but the reason this place is packed I can tell is because of the service.

We came here for brunch on a nice Sunday. They were able to accommodate us and find us a table in the shade to sit outside. Food: I got the avocado toast without the egg. It came on a croissant and I thought it would be a little more than avocado and bread. Thought there might be at least tomatoes or something on it. It still tasted pretty good but was just thin. My husband got the breakfast burrito. He said it was a bit dry because the sauces were on top instead of inside. Both meals came with tator tots and those were delicious! Price: We got an entree and bottomless for less than $35 per person so overall I do think it was a good deal. The ambiance of Mel's is nice especially if you're going there to watch a game.

Is Mel's having a money issue? They raised the price of "bottomless" brunch and then it seemed like the bottomless brunch in fact had a bottom. What a miss. Burger was cool, though.

The food is good and the beers are reasonable priced for Manhattan but the staff is what makes this place the best bar in the area. Tons of TVs to watch any game your heart desires and you'll leave with at least two new friends. 10/10

The Cookie Monster milkshake is delicious! It comes in a fun old fashioned milkshake glass too!

Service is TRASH. Bigger girl with glasses was our server. Too interested in talking to her coworker than to take our drink orders. Brought my boyfriend a flat beer so we sent it back. Rather than bring my drink they waited 10 minutes to bring it with my boyfriend so my drink was warm. Sent it back. Had to literally wave my hands in the air to get the servers attention. I wish I was exaggerating and rather than be hospitable and accommodating she waved back at me sarcastically. I work in the service industry in NY and I am appalled at the level of ineptitude, disrespect and apathy the staff showed us. Spend your money better places where the serves will listen

It was my first time at Mel's! I ordered a deluxe bacon cheddar cheese burger with no onions and pickles and Frenchfries. The burger and bacon were pretty good! I just wish the fries weren't so thin. I also ordered their rum punch drink. I liked it so much and it definitely did it's job making me feel a little buzzed to the point where I would like to go again and try more meals off the menu and more rum punch drinks! The service wasn't so great..the waitress was nice but was weird when she asked if the food tasted good lol and barely came around to see how everything was.

My family and I walked in for a late lunch , the burgers we ordered were delicious ( I have two grandchildren who are the best critics!). The service was good and the ambiance gave us a place to escape the hustle and bustle of NYC.

Mel's burgers are legit. Came here after work for an early dinner. It was fairly quiet at the time and we sat at the bar because it was too hot outside. I ordered the Back Yarder burger and a side of tater tots. First, the burger. Juicy, messy, greasy goodness. They say the burgers are cooked medium (they don't ask you what temperature you want), but mine was definitely on the side of medium rare, which I love. The burger came with the classic toppings (American cheese, LTPO, ketchup and mayo) as well as crushed potato chips. The chips added additional crunch and texture, which was a nice touch. Moving onto the tots. I happen to love tater tots and wish more places had them on the menu. Definitely enjoyed these, although I don't feel like the house sauce was very flavorful and the tots themselves were kind of falling apart. As far as where the burger would rank on my list, I'd say it's not at the top, but it's up there. Would definitely go back and try the other burgers.

We went for brunch today and the experience was disappointing. The servers did not even pretend they wanted to be there. The brunch burger was ordered medium and came back mooing. The burrito was as dry as cardboard and the milkshake we ordered had plenty of milk but questionably little to no ice cream. To top it off the restrooms were in dire need of cleaning. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place.

Tbh honest I ordered trashed wings on seamless the pictures look delicious. But what I got wasn't anything like it just plain boneless chicken with a little bit of buffalo sauce on like about 2 peace's and the waffle fries are ass. Won't be going there anymore this is false advertisement if the picture has the boneless chicken covered in buffalo sauce and some greens and I get this. (Pictures below) just trash

We went this past Saturday, my fiancé and daughter. When first entering this location, I was impressed by the ambiance! It was a vibe! The energy was hot! We sat towards the back, and as I sat there, I thought to myself, this place is so cool. Love the Mel's sign on the wall. Love the televisions to watch sports. When the burgers arrived I was a bit disappointed because I was expecting a bigger burger. Thank goodness I ordered onion rings! The taste of both my burger and onion rings were delicious! Worth every penny. I had the Mel beer. It was good. I will definitely be back!

Came to MEL's as I was craving burger and beer. Vaccine card checked at the door. Sat at the bar- friendly bartender ( female) forgot her name but she was awesome. Made a delicious beer rec- "flower power " which is HOPPY IPA! My fave. Cheese burger with avo and yam fries. I was surprised to see a lonely sliver of avo, the bartender checked the kitchen and brought me a proper portion. Flat screens for the game. On this night the knicks lost. Bar with locals makes it almost feels like Cheers! Will be back.

We were loyal customers for years but they just lost our business forever. Twice in the last month we ordered pickup and they forgot to pack the sweet potato fries. The first time I called and they said they could not credit me for the price and I let it go. The second time I called and said I would go pick up the missing fries. They called back & said their employee remembered packing the fries; in other words that I was making it up. I told them I was looking right at the food they packed & it was not there & we would pick it up. When we arrived they said you have to wait 15 to 20 minutes. We asked for a credit instead and they said you have to wait 15 minutes to speak to a manager. Terrible customer service & they are not the least bit apologetic for their mistakes.

On a trip to nyc, my little brother and his wife suggested this place for us to go check out. I'm always willing to try something in regards to food so I said just lead the way. We took the train and walked during what was an unusual heat wave for winter in the north. After arriving we were greeted promptly and sat down right away. We came on a Sunday and wanted the unlimited brunch drinks, I started with a Bloody Mary because they are my favorite and then kept with the mimosas because frankly they are drinkable to a buzz like amount without getting fat fingers from sodium. The service was awesome and my drink was never empty. Of course we had to have some food since we were brunch drinking to that level, I decided on the eggs Benedict they were simple but very delicious. This is a cool location, it was pretty packed since it was football Sunday but enjoyable and a place I would return to

Dark as we walked in on a Sunday afternoon. Not crowded at all compared to the other sports bars around. Others have already checked in and we were led to a back room. Brighter was this semi-private room, two small screens with faint sound. Being a guest, I kept mouth shut, for I love my football Sundays big and loud. Anyways, sweet was our server, bringing in rounds of beer and sodas. Nice and hot were the nibbles our table ordered, favorite was their "Fried Cauliflower". A good impression Mel's made that I would come again! Cheers!

Staff super friendly and bar food not bad! Great sports bar to have fun at! Mac & cheese bites and of course tator tots are always awesome!!

First- the playlist was amazingggg. I could barely eat because I was singling along to every song. My friend and I stopped by Sunday night and sat outside. I had the Back Yarder with tots and he had the Hot Mess sweet potato fries. Both yuuummmmy! Bathrooms were super clean and out server, Lillie, was friendly and efficient. I'll definitely be back!

Stopped here with a friend after work. The place was empty which was amazing (it was 3pm). I ordered a chocolate shake, a beyond burger and fries. My friend ordered onion rings and a burger. I do have to say, the portions are SMALL and they barely give any fries/ onion rings. The picture below is the plate immediately as it was placed on the table. The shake tasted horrible but the burgers/fries/onion rings were good.

Beautiful, clean restaurant and the wait staff is very friendly and attentive. The onion rings are absolutely delicious but the burger feel short. It was cooked exactly how I liked -- but it needed more sauce to keep it from tasting dry. Burger was lackluster, overall; however, the ambiance coupled with the friendly staff... I'll be back to try again.

(Last visited 10/11/2020.) Hanging out in NYC for the weekend and no NYC weekend starts without a grand boozy brunch. Today's destination is Mel's Burger Bar! There are multiple locations, but we chose the Upper East Side due to ease of access from the hotel. Here's how it went! Atmosphere/Appearance: It was a gorgeous day in the city so we opted to sit outside. I absolutely loved how this place handled the new restrictions and guidelines. There are plastic dividers on wheels that can be moved and rearranged between every single table. Party of 2, no problem. Party of 4, also no problem, the divider just gets moved and the tables pushed together. This was very clever and kept all the tables in their own bubbles. I hardly remember what the inside looked like except for going to the bathroom. Lol. Service: I can't remember who took care of us, but they were awesome. Quick, funny and just made sure that we had everything that we needed. Food: Here's the drawback... when you come to brunch and you get the mimosas, it includes a brunch item ONE OF 3 BURGERS. Why? Why can't we just... choose something else? Nope. You pay one price and the entrée included has to be one of the 3 burgers offered unless you want to pay more for other stuff. That was irritating, but we ain't broke... so whatever. I opted for the Breakfast Burger which consists of an all-beef patty, bacon, American cheese and onions on a soft roll. It was very, very good. I won't even lie. It also comes with tater tots. It wasn't enough food to be honest... especially when you're chucking back mimosa after mimosa which by the way... you pour yourself. I LOVED THIS IDEA. We (our party of 2) was given 2 bottles at a time and a cup of orange juice in a bucket of ice. You pop your own cork and pour it all on your own. Later on down the line we got a Giant Pretzel. It comes with cheese sauce and spicy mustard. I actually liked this more than the burger. It's a must-order. Value: This place is steep, but you gotta pay to play. The brunch rules differ from location to location. So, if you wanna drink for 2 hours it'll cost you $30.00 and that comes with one of those burgers. If you wanna drink for 3 hours it'll cost you $40.00. Not bad at all, but if you start ordering more food the bill will start to climb. The Giant Pretzel was $13.00. All of the food was totally worth it though. In conclusion, I really enjoyed this place. It checked all my boxes and gave me everything I wanted. I may want to try the other location, which doesn't force the burger on you as a part of the brunch, but if you're on this side of town, check it out!

Looking for a great boozy brunch? This is one of the best spots I've been to in a long while $32 all you can drink mimosas, bloody mary's, screwdrivers, and regular beers with an entree. WOW! And they really stay on top of filling you up and making sure you're boozed up. The food is honestly pretty good! Split and order of buffalo wings, which were tasty and fresh, my partner and I both got the breakfast burrito, which was really delicious, and splurged on the dessert sampler, which was decadent. The breakfast burrito was the star of the meal! It was loaded up with eggs, meat, and cheese and the beans and pico on the side were great to mix in. Definitely a knife and fork burrito. The dessert sampler was so yummy. Deep fried oreos and cookies with ice cream to boot. That deep fried chocolate chip cookie was outrageous. Would recommend and would certainly come back here.

I ordered from Mel's twice and was disappointed twice. This time around we ordered a burger, boneless buffalo wings, fries, and a milkshake. The burger meat tasted off and nothing else on the burger had any flavor at all. I thought the milkshake would be big enough to share, but it came in a very small cup wrapped in plastic wrap. The milkshake itself tasted like plastic. The boneless buffalo wings tasted like the ones you get at the supermarket and bury in your freezer and forget about until they develop freezer burn but you eat them anyway. I ate a bunch of them anyway ‍ The fries were fine but not great.

A few weeks ago I brought the boys to Mel's Burger Bar and had a perfectly pleasant meal. We only ate food and it did not disappoint. The French Onion Burger was the highlight. I NEVER order a burger but the French Onion seemed too rich to reject. I get my burgers medium well and it was cooked perfectly. The ratio of swiss to onion to burger was great, and dipping it in gravy was the cherry on top of the cake. The onion rings were slightly burnt but other than that tasty sides (love fresh cut fries!). Server was lovely and friendly. We'll be back!

Bottomless brunch is the way to go here. They give you the bottles of champagne and crafts of orange juice to make your own. Ordered an egg sandwich with avocado on a croissant and damn was it good. They play good music and the crowd is always fun.

This business is yummmmy! My family and I stumbled upon this gem one Sunday afternoon and we have been back several time after that. The burgers are always juicy and the service is great. The servers are so warm, they make you feel like you are at their house. The food is predictable, which I love in a restaurant. You know what you are getting. The backyard burger with the chips inside is delish. The boneless buffalo chicken wings are amazing! Wide selection of beer and always expect a smile! Def a place to go to with or without your family!

I went on Saturday for bottomless brunch with a group of friends that were visiting from Spain. The hostess did everything to accommodate us even though we didn't have a reservation. The food came out fast and it was great, although the kitchen messed up two of our plates. The waitress apologized profusely and gave us some free shots for the inconvenience, and made sure we got our plates right. She got along really well with my friends since she spoke perfect Spanish (I think she was from South America) and she even did shots with us! We had a lot of fun. The champagne is cheap but after your third Mimosa you won't even notice it anymore. A great deal if you want to have a great time. Definitely try their avocado toast with tots!

Stopped in for a lunch and cocktail after the NYC half marathon. Heard the burgers were what they are famous for. Got the breakfast burger off the brunch menu. It was pretty good but not something I personally would return for. The interior is really well built out. Love the decor and the staff was so friendly as well.

The burgers are great! The service not so much. My husband and I have been in Mel's several times and the last two times we waited a LONG time for some to take our order. I think they might be short on staff due to COVID, not sure? None the less the burgers are great! You may just have a longer wait than expected.

Beer and giant pretzels, what's not to love? Also the wings and French onion burger are stellar.

This might be the best bar in New York city. Andrey is absolutely amazing, they have a great staff. Super professional and also serve the best drinks and food you will not be disappointed

PURCHASED: All-you-can-eat and drink College Football Championship Special TOTAL: ~$30 PROS: + All-you-can-eat: Mouth-watering sliders and wings (BBQ, Teriyaki or original). Off menu items are extra. You are limited to certain beer (e.g., Coor's Light, Budweiser--the light beers). + Not overly crowded: It wasn't too crowded in late-Fall 2019. We were there for the 2019 College Football Championship Game. Geaux Tigers, as they say. I was not squeezing in between people's personal space at all. + Reservations accepted: We got a massive table of 18 people in the back of the bar which has a massive MEL'S sign (please see photo) illuminating everything and scores of TVs in every direction. + One cool bartender: The female bartender working the main bar apparently was a veteran. She took care of everyone. One of our acquaintance planned to return home to New Haven via the North Metro (2-hour train ride). She adequately gave and re-filled his water to make sure he was going to get back. (Huge + to this bartender. Hope her and all the others are doing well during this COVID-19 situation). CONS: - I can not think of any at the present time. IMPRESSION: This Upper-East-Side spot is owned by a young man in his 30s. The front is a bar runs down the length to the back of the block on one side. There are stool-height couches running along the opposite wall. These couches face the TV to allow for great sports-watching. We watched the LSU tigers push Alabama down a hill in the 2019 College Football Championship Game. It was not crowded. The food was excellent. Quite frankly, the food was excessive to say the least. It was a feast in the middle of Manhattan.

Decided to come to Mel's Burger Bar on Valentines Day with my coworker to grab some drinks. They have pretty good happy hour specials, some of which include 1/2 special appetizers, $2 off well drinks, and buy one get one drafts. Pretty good deal if you ask me! We ordered the fried mac and cheese balls, beef nachos, and loaded fries with bacon, sour cream, and chives. Fried mac and cheese ballz: 5/5 these were my favorite of the night. I love a good fried mac and cheese ball, and Mel's didn't disappoint. Topped with a tasty marinara sauce and a crispy outer lay. Beef nachos: 3.5/5 Mel's makes their own homemade tortilla chips, which I absolutely loved! I would have liked to see more cheese on my nachos, the cheese that was on there seemed to be dried up and hard. My friend who I shared the nachos with didn't want pico de gallo, which in my opinion would have made the nachos taste a lot better. These were half off during happy hour, so I guess I can't complain too much Loaded fries with bacon, sour cream, and chives: 2.5/5 These wee just OK for me. Mel's has some pretty cool fries options and I decided to go with these. The bacon was the saving grace.The fries would have been better if they came out hot, but mine were cold, and just not good fries. Overall, Mel's is a pretty decent bar that offers pretty good happy hour specials and bar food!

Great burger place for a great price! Lovely decor for any occasion. It's a dimly lit atmosphere. The bar space is in the front and seated tables in the back. The lunch special is a great deal at $12 for burger, fries and a beer. The burger is delicious and juicy. The hand cut fries are a must. Goes so well with the beer. Should you not make it to lunch, their happy hour is also a great deal. Select beers are $5. There is a good selection of Happy Hour menu items. I tried a few items and sliders were my fav and the creamy dip was good also. If going for a healthier dish with greens, the steak salad was good. The steak with fries and a beer made a fabulous meal.

Came before 6pm and the bar was quiet with few patrons. Very chill atmosphere with nice staff. Ordered the backyard burger which had potato chips in it. It was ok, lacking some juiciness. The fries were my favorite though! Thin and crispy. The Buffalo wings were spicyyyyyy, they don't skimp out on the sauce!

Mel's is our go-to burger joint in the neighborhood. It's also one of the better bars in the neighborhood, with a diverse clientele ranging from longtime neighborhood residents to Columbia kids, young to old, and everyone in between. Service is always good and very down to earth. Happy hour, football and other specials are great, especially their $12 lunch special for a burger, a side, and a beer cannot be beat. Little disappointed that they got rid of my favorite burger (french dip) awhile back when they updated the menu, but such is life. Regardless the meat quality is pretty damned great. It's one of the few places also that can cook to the proper doneness, including rare which is what I usually go for. Their buns, special sauce and toppings are also fresh and good. Fries are good sweet potato fries are good, tater tots are good, beer list is good, shakes are good...get the picture? This may not be in the upper echelon of NYC burger joints, however it's damned close and much more affordable (no $30 Minetta Tavern burgers here). Great place to come, chill and eat.

Drunk right now writing this...so you know it's good of MIMOSAS AND MIMOSAS ONLY. Don't get the breakfast burrito for brunch. Frozen inside. Sausage was raw. Burger cold. Fries cold. Waiter....cold. Save your money and buy Andre Brut and Tropicana from the bodega down the street.

Came to Mel's with my boyfriend last night as we were trying to satisfy BAD burger cravings! The restaurant was about half full (8:30pm on a Monday night) and we were told to sit where we pleased. We were waited on promptly and the friendly waitress offered up some suggestions of popular food and drink items. Food was brought out to the table quickly, and portions were generous. We went all in and ordered the "Half and Half" (half fries, half onion rings), an order of buffalo wings and a burger each. My date ordered "The Hot Mess" and I got "The Dirty Hipster". We were happy with the quality, portions, and taste of the food. It was only met with the friendly nature of the staff. The reasonable tab and variety of choices make it a cute casual spot to check out if you live/work in the area.
