Ferry Building Foot Traffic Set to Climb Past Pre-COVID Travel Numbers | Eater SF

"Opened during the second weekend in July on Martin Luther King Jr Way, the new creamery's owners Nutchapol Phaungjit and Suphaluk Moontha say they were inspired by their international travels to take options to the next level; guests can expect mango sticky rice, cheddar cheese ice cream, sweet corn, and more, according to The San Francisco Chronicle." - Paolo Bicchieri

SO DELICIOUS!!! I’ve come 3 times in a week since I knew about this place. I’ve tried the matcha strawberry, thai tea, blue jasmine passionfruit, orange froyo, and cereal. All of them are absolutely amazing and I cannot pick a favorite! Matcha strawberry is extremely high quality, it’s bright green and tastes better than $8 matcha lattes out there. The strawberry gives it a nice tartness to balance the intensity of the matcha! The thai tea is really intense & concentrated, with perfectly soft & chewy boba bits. Orange froyo is tart and refreshing! I’d say matcha, thai tea, and orange are the more intense flavors. The cereal one is so good, more intensely cereal flavored than “cereal-milk” flavored ice cream out there. And the jasmine passionfruit is light, fragrant, floral, tea-forward with a nice sweetness from the passionfruit. This place is easily the best ice cream place I’ve ever had in my life 😭😭😭 Please try it and support their small business!! If I wasn’t moving I’d be here every day!!

Google
Absolutely delicious! Melt Me Creamery in Berkeley is a hidden gem! The ice cream is super creamy, flavorful, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. They have a great variety of unique and classic flavors — I tried the Thai tea and ube, and both were incredible. The shop is clean, cozy, and has a really welcoming vibe. Staff were friendly and offered samples so I could find my favorite. Perfect spot for a sweet treat after a day in the city.

Google
Guys I wanted to gatekeep this place so bad but it’s really too good. My family and I genuinely have gone 3 days in a row and at this point, buy the flavors by the pint. The owners are really nice and the quality is amazing. I loveeee the flavor choices. They have a lot of asian inspired ones like mango sticky rice, ube, and matcha strawberry. They’re all so unique and delicious. Genuinely the best ice cream in the whole bay and there’s a veryyy good reason why we go back every day.

Google
A dream come true for ice cream lovers! As a self-proclaimed dessert aficionado, I can confidently say Melt Me Creamery in Berkeley is next-level. Every flavor is thoughtfully crafted with bold, balanced taste and ultra-creamy texture. They clearly focus on quality ingredients and cultural authenticity, which makes this place stand out in a sea of ordinary scoop shops. This isn’t just ice cream — it’s an experience. 10/10 will return (and probably try every flavor).

Google
Good vegan options. The Bangkok flavor and the mango were both tasty separate and together.

Google
Fun new ice cream place in Berkeley! The flavors are exciting and the ice cream is ultra smooth. Looking forward to going back. The corn coffee and ovaltine is great!

Google
Easily some of the best ice cream I’ve had in the bay. Every flavor we tried was phenomenal. Will definitely be back 😋

Google
Omg was it delicious. As an ice cream writer and ice cream podcaster.. I taste a lot of ice cream. But this was next level. See picture for my two favorite flavors.. never did I think I’d have cheeseball ice cream and it tasted decadent. Check it out!

Yelp
It is the best hand crafted ice cream around. Great flavors that you won't find around

Yelp
Amazing and unique Flavors. They offer new flavors monthly. My favorites are Blue Jasmine Tea, Orange froyo mochi and Korean coffee corn. Awesome customer service.

Yelp
I ACTUALLY screamed for ice cream when I saw this cute new place finally opened and did a (legal) U-turn to check it out. It had been 2 days since they opened around 9pm so they were just closing up, but the staff was so nice and wrapped my order as the last one of the night. They have samples, flights, and split scoops so you can try their wide variety of Asian-inspired flavors. It's a smaller store front, but the inside has plenty of pink and a welcoming feel to it. Some flavors rotate monthly and keep things interesting (the cheddar cheese walnut pralines is not as weird as it sounds). Sprinkles are free! Was a huge fan of their blue jasmine & passion fruit, mango sticky rice, and black sesame/cookies & cream flavors. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Came back again with my son!! He wanted to try the cheddar cheese flavor. Fun fact: sprinkles are free so that was a great surprise!

Yelp
Opened last Friday (7/11/25), Melt Me is the ice cream shop Berkeley needed, move over iscream. After the closure of an amazing ice cream shop (you know who you are), Berkeley was in short supply of ice cream shops with a focus on Asian flavors. I am ecstatic and simultaneously worried for my sugar levels that it's a short distance from where I live. Today, I decided to make a spontaneous trip down MLK to this cute little shop a stone's throw away from Trader Joe's. First off, ovaltine! YAS. But bc I wasn't in a chocolatey mood, I opted for mango sticky rice+ blue jasmine and passion fruit. They went really well together! The mango sticky rice was bursting with mango and the passion fruit although normally very tart was subdued by the jasmine. Both very tasty! I got to try the Bangkok summer scoop. Kind of wish it had more jack fruit bc the coconut ice cream was def the stronger flavor. Other than that I can't wait to come back to see what other flavors they scoop up!

Yelp
Very intriguing, Asian forward flavors. They had a bit of everything from ube, mango sticky rice, to miso peanut butter and Korean corn latte. I like that they have a split single where you can try 2 flavors in a single cup instead of having to get 2 full scoops. Their ice cream is very creamy and they give good generous scoops. The Korean coffee is a nice medium roast flavor with the lingering flavor of corn at the end. It was really yummy. Their mango sticky rice tasted mainly of fresh mango. We enjoyed it even tho we didn't get a coconut flavor. We had the last scoop of the mango in the tub so maybe we didn't get the best representation of it. It was delicious nevertheless. We will definitely revisit for other flavors in the coming months.

Yelp
Most UNIQUE ice cream in the East Bay!!! This place is so fire. I got the Honey Lavender and the Blue Jasmine and Passion Fruit Swirl as a split single scoop. The Honey Lavender was amazing -- floral, sweet, strong. Classic flavor pairing. The Jasmine and Passion Fruit Swirl was phenomenal -- the perfect floral tea base from the jasmine butterfly pea, with a refreshing pop of fruity brightness piercing through from the passion fruit. I absolutely looooove a good floral-fruity moment! My sister got a split single of one of the flavors of the month, the Korean Coffee Corn Latte, and the other flavor was the Matcha Strawberry from their regular rotation of flavors. An aside -- Matcha Strawberry was smooth, rich, and not at all gritty. Even Matcha Cafe Maiko, sometimes their matcha can be gritty, and Maruwu Seicha too -- but this place was very good. Apparently, the kind of matcha they use is from Mizuba Matcha Tea Co. -- I'll have to check them out later! The Korean Coffee Corn Latte -- very coffee, very corn -- both strong and present flavors. One, I love that they offer a split single scoop in general. Two, all of their curated starting flavors are so unique and wonderfully picked. I can confidently say I've never seen SO many distinct and palatable flavors before in one ice cream shop -- although it may be a lot for people who prefer simpler, less complicated flavors (not I!). The quality of their ice cream -- I sampled half of them -- were all really, really good. So creamy, very consistent in quality, strong flavors. I'm not having to fight to taste and figure out what flavor I'm eating. This place is newly established in Berkeley, not a chain. The pink decorations in and outside the storefront are really cute. Their cups are cute too -- pink cow-print to match. Their menu layout is clear and appealing. Everything looks crisp, bright, and eye-catching. Also, service is excellent. I tried so many samples, and the employee helping us (one of the store's cofounders!) was very kind and patient, not pushy. The place is still pretty low-key -- they just opened a week ago, so I'm excited to see it gain more attention and flourish, hopefully becoming a mainstay in the Berkeley food scene. I may come back just to try the rest of their monthly flavors!

Yelp
Best. Ice cream. In Berkeley. Full stop. I'm talking about the creamiest, dreamiest ice cream. The kind that disappears after a few minutes and makes you wanting more. When you walk in, it's a feast for the eyes. Every flavor has a distinct & colorful look and makes you curious to try them. So far I've had: * cheddar and candied walnuts -- the hint of cheddar is perfectly balanced with the crunch of candied walnuts * jasmine and passion fruit -- floral with a hint of tartness * ube malt crunch -- a classic flavor that never disappoints * Korean corn latte -- love the sweet corn puree in every bite My favorite flavors so far are the savory & sweet combos because they're the perfect balance of both. Seems like some flavors are seasonal so try them before you miss out!

Yelp
3 samples per customer. Nice lady behind the counter was pleasant. Got the orange froyo mochi and Korean Coffee corn latte. They charge for a cone FYI. I love that they have a split single option do you can get two flavors.

Yelp
This place is so good! I was so excited to see a new place that had some unique flavors of ice cream as well as fruit freeze. We tried a few flavors of ice cream, and they were spot on! I definitely recommend trying a few to get what you truly want. I had the strawberry matcha and it was very good. The fruit freeze is so similar to Gunther's from Sac. So refreshing and delicious ! The owner was so friendly and encouraged us to try flavors in their cute little shop. Definitely will be back.

Yelp
This is a very cute shop! It's on MLK way and the inside is quite small. I would say possibly 5 people comfortably to order inside at a time. They had really good flavors, such as their Thai tea , Honey Lavender and their s'mores. Surprisingly they were able to make the s'mores flavor taste have a slight smoky taste as if you roasted a marshmallow! The staff is very kind and helpful! I was able to try 4 different flavors before I ordered.

Yelp
Cute space, nice service, good ice cream. Flavors for the blue jasmine & passionfruit swirl and honey lavender were subtle, not punchy, more delicately floral -- even the passionfruit. Clearly made with real ingredients. Texture was good, scoopable without melting. There was the tiniest of icy aftertastes but I'm really quibbling here. It's good. Four outdoor pink stools and a park on the next corner provide pleasant locals to eat your treat.

Yelp
Drove pass and notice the cute decor outside. Had to check it out. I'm so glad we did! Grand opening this past Friday. Cute clean interior Friendly staff Creative and Unique flavors My partner and I sampled a few flavors and it was so difficult to decide which ones to get, they were all so good. I had the split single scoop with Ube and Orange mochi. He had the Korean coffee corn and mango sticky rice. We enjoyed it so much. We will definitely come back and try other flavors!

Yelp
Just tried this ice cream spot and I'm obsessed So many unique flavors I've never had before--every scoop was a surprise in the best way. The vibes are chill and super welcoming too. Definitely coming back for more!

Yelp
Certified best ice cream in Berkeley. Scared the line will be around the block once the Cal kids are back but also hopeful it is. The owners are amazing people and I'm glad they're getting the hype and recognition they deserve! You gotta try it!

Yelp
The atmosphere is so bright and welcoming and beautiful. You can tell they put so much care and intention into their space! The BLUE JASMINE PASSION FRUIT IS SOO GOODD! It's not overly sweet and gives a good mix of creamy and fruity The lady who helped me was so kind and patient with me and my brother as well as the other guests! The service was amazing! I'm so happy for this new addition to this neighborhood and Berkeley as a whole.

Yelp
I would give more than 5 stars if I could. Hands down the best Ice Cream shop in the Bay Area right now. Campfire smores left me speechless. You can actually taste the roasted marshmallow. To the owners, Thank you for opening, and wish you all the best! Stay hydrated, you guys will be sooooo busy!!!
google avatar

Marcy S.

Yelp
Wow, you guys! I saw this place was opening up a while back and finally got to try it today! It is so freaking good. If you like interesting flavor combinations, and or maybe someone that is kind of a foodie, you will absolutely love their ice cream. They have other things too, and I'm looking forward to trying everything. The staff and owner are so humble and sweet and hard-working. I hope they find great success here.
google avatar

Daniel A.

Yelp
Randomly stopped here and so glad I did! Amazing flavors and great customer service. Got the Campfire Smores that tastes just like roasted marshmallows. Also got the cereal flavor. I'll definitely be back to try a few more flavors.

Yelp
Highly recommend!!! I got a flight (4 mini scoops) loved the Cheddar Cheese Walnut Praline (particularly when getting a chunk of cheese in a bite). Miso Peanut Butter Brownie was probably my fave. But so was the Mango Sticky Rice, great mango flavor and not too sweet. The Korean Coffee Corn had a strong coffee flavor, tempered by a corn ice cream swirl. I love a good coffee ice cream that tastes like coffee (as opposed to beige ice creams that barely have any coffee flavor) The texture of the ice creams is a classic creamy one that tastes freshly churned. No ice crystals or grittiness. Already scheming about when to come back to try more flavors!

Yelp
Ice cream with asian fusion flavors. Very good! They mark their ice creams with labels for gluten free, vegan, etc. Interestingly, only one had eggs (you know, a classic way to make ice cream). The ones we tried were without eggs and flavor-wise, they were fantastic. Shout out to the Ube Malt flavor, our favorite of the ones we tried. Best way to sample is to get their flight of ice cream -- 4 smallish scoops to try 4 flavors at a time.

Veronica P.

Yelp
We drove 35 minutes to come to this cute ice cream place! We loved it ice cream is soooo good! Love how they do flavors for each month. The staff were so nice I loved the atmosphere so cute!

Yelp
Was curious about this new location in Berkeley. Once inside it was a cute lil ice cream shop. Very clean. Very polite, once we came inside we were greeted. They let us taste the different unique flavors. I personally like the dalgona coffee. Will come again.

Yelp
This ice cream was ok. I tried the black sesame cookies and cream as well as the matcha. The flavor was pretty good, but the texture was a bit off. I like creamier ice cream, and I felt like this one was on the icy side. Might go back to try their mango sticky rice flavor though
google avatar

Vanessa G.

Yelp
My daughter and I were so excited to try this place as it's by our house. We tried a few different flavor samples. The lady was very patient and she thanked us many times for coming in and giving them business. My daughter got the mango and sticky rice, which is not a flavor I would think that she would like and she loved it and she tends to be picky. I got the cereal charms one it was very good. The place is super cute. Can't wait to go again and try more flavors. They don't have anywhere to sit inside, but they have some stools right in front on the outside to sit.

Yelp
An amazing new ice cream shop is in town! Homemade ice cream with such great combinations of flavors! My favorites are the strawberry matcha and campfire s'mores! More visits to come!

Connie O.

Yelp
This is the best ice cream! It's beautiful, especially the Ube, creamy, and not too sweet. The shop is lovely and the person serving me was so nice. It reminds me of the third culture bakery vibe.

Judy S.

Yelp
Amazing first visit! We enjoyed all the flavors we tried (mango sticky rice was particularly good -- we didn't even realize it was non-dairy! -- although we also enjoyed the Thai tea with boba and the Bangkok Summer Scoop) and appreciated the split scoop option. We will definitely be back!

Connor M.

Yelp
Amazing choice of exceptional tasting flavors, will definitely be going back soon and recommending to others!

Tom B.

Yelp
Creative. Tasty. Simply amazing. Excellent addition to the neighborhood but worth a trek.

Ana R.

Yelp
Amazing ice cream selection and wonderful service by the owners! Definitely recommend, we've already been back twice.

Sienna C.

Yelp
Melt Me had many unique, different flavors. They offered vegan and gluten free options so everyone had an option. The staff were incredibly friendly and kind. The vegan mango sticky rice ice cream was creamy and smooth and had a delicious mango flavor which was not artificial at all. Definitely will be coming back!

Mary M.

Yelp
Wonderful, clean, happy shop. Too chicken to try the exotic flavors, but their vanilla is tip top. Also had a pineapple and orange 'freeze' which was scooped icey and very good. Will be back for sure!

Yelp
After hearing great things, we drove from Oakland to try this ice cream - great move!!! This ice cream is hands-down some of the very best I've had in my 70-yr lifetime! The unique flavors alone would be enough of a reason, but the quality surpasses even them. It is very very hard to find a really creamy ice cream that is still solid enough to hang around for awhile & be tasted alongside another flavor, 1/2 & 1/2, for the additional flavor combination. And these flavors! We tasted, between us, 6 of them in flights: Thai tea & brown sugar mochi, blue jasmine & passionfruit swirl, honey lavender w/ malt dust, mango sticky rice, cheddar cheese & praline, Ovaltine w/ flocos crocantes. All unique & delicious; great textural experiences. They have fruit ices, too, if you have a friend who's lactose-intolerant. As a bonus, the couple who create these & serve you are the nicest folks imaginable!!!

Grace H.

Yelp
Amazing flavor selection! The lavender was delicious. They have a lot of gf flavors too.

Rachel H.

Yelp
Such a cute little shop with fun and unique flavors! I got the Thai tea flavor which also has little mochi in it. Delicious! And the person serving us was so sweet and kind!
