The restaurant is very spacious so there is usually a spot available if you want to eat in. The food here is unmatched! I’ve eaten at their Brooklyn location as well and they did not disappoint. The oxtail. The patties. The jerk chicken are all 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Best Jamaican food around! Can’t ever go wrong with Oxtail and jerk chicken. Service could be faster. Ordered online to be delivered about 10 min drive away. We waited 45 minutes before calling to follow up and the person immediately said they were “good” on the order. My food showed up 45 minutes later so all in 1.5 hours. Best to show up and order in person.

The best authentic JAMAICAN RESTAURANT hands down if I’m lying I’m flying jerk chicken is on point the curry chicken is on point the white rice don’t forget the brown stew chicken is just perfect everything is amazing the steam veggies yea make sure you don’t forget to take that when offered!!! For late dinner, we could choose large or medium box of four different entrees. Jerk chicken brown stew was our best choice. Jerk chicken was special and delicious itself, but we did not like the sauce on it. Chicken curry was very tasty. Oxtail was cooked thoughtfully and in a strong sauce. There were about 20+ seats inside.

Seems like they have a food shortage or they are really cheap. I got 2 medium jerk chicken wt rice and peas, & both trays were half full. Rice is the cheapest thing to make in a restaurant, i should never still be hungry after eating. Usually u get a quarter jerk chicken wt a medium but all of their chicken is chopped up in a big bowl and they give u 3 little peices. Lol what a joke. Never coming back here! If you work for your money like me, don’t come here either!

I came here on my two month anniversary with my girlfriend to say the very least I won’t be getting any nun tonight the smell of the restaurant and old food made me sick to my stomach I could barley make it through ordering on top of that spent 43 big buckaroos and didn’t get drinks jerk chicken more like burnt chicken as I sit here consuming this beef patty to get my moneys worth I realized it okay sometimes you get got and going here we got got wouldn’t recommend unless they were giving out to the homeless for free honestly you can go 4 blocks over to island foodies and eat 10 times better everything was just sitting there for what looked like all day dried out if you work hard for your money you’re gonna be mad plantains were ahhhhh if yk what I mean I could go on days for days how many chances I have given this establishment but the person in the kitchen lost their passion a while ago Mac and cheese tastes like grease and is over priced

Before i start i ate a little out of the mac n cheese before the pic. It was so amazing and just the right mix of flavor and cheese. The beef patty was perfect. Cant wait to go back to this place. Also very friendly staff.

I ordered the Oxtail -peas-and-rice which was everything I needed to make it through the day. The service was great and the food even better! No photos because it was already gone, by the time I remembered to take a photo!

Food was really good! Everything was well seasoned. I literally could eat the rice and beans alone with the veggies. They have outdoor and indoor seating. I'm glad I got to experience the outdoor seating on a warm summer day. Parking is a little rough but I heard it's easier to find parks on the weekend. Robert was amazing and hospitable.

I got the oxtail and jerk chicken combo with steamed vegetables, plantains and rice with beans. The oxtail melted in your mouth and the jerk chicken had great seasoning. I would highly recommend this place. I plan on trying the fish and the goat next time I'm in the area.

Jerk Chicken, Rice and Peas, cabbage and plantains (I ate the plantains first) well flavored The rice really taste so good I could eat it alone and the jerk chicken yummy, the cabbage was cooked to perfection not soggy. I really took too long to visit and support but once I did it was well worth it. I'll definitely be back. Oh and the homemade sorel and pineapple ginger drink definitely needs to be bottled love every minute of it I need the saline versions of both, cannot get enough. Thank you

Always satisfied here. Flavors, portions, options. It's everything you want. I can always recommend the oxtail. The jerk chicken is what you want. Fried chicken is great. Cabbage is also a yes. Rice was saved for breakfast. So much I couldn't finish. Amazing. Plantains...wish I had more. I'll always give this place 5 stars. Keron is a gem. Have a conversation with her. And then give this place all your money. Seriously, try everything. If you have a family, treat them. If you have a bunch of friends, order this to the kiki.

Jerk chicken was dried out and appeared to be reheated from the day before. Curry goat was tasty and delicious.

Popped in on my way to Roosevelt Island and so glad I did! The food was so delicious and the servings are heaping. I ordered jerk chicken with rice and peas. It came with cabbage and plantains. Everything was so savory and satiating. Thank you Melting Pot for this authentic dish. I could taste the love!!

It's been forever since I've had some great Jamaican food! I hopped off my plane today and I made sure this was the first place I came to! The curry goat was fresh off the stove, and seasoned perfectly. Not salty at all as I ate it with the rice. This is definitely a go to spot I'd recommend to anyone wanting to try Jamaican food, or is looking to satisfy a craving. Make sure you get a Ting or Ginger Beer too to wash it down.

I order from them faithfully bc they're black owned but it's always disappointing. Either the soup is extra pepper, the saltfish is too salty, they don't follow the instructions (and my instructions are the same each time bc it's recurring), barely give you any ackee and it really pisses me off. I have to call every time for them to fix it. Just ordered breakfast and i have a pan of dumplings with no ackee. I'm so hungry and upset. For 20.00 a pop, I'm not supporting them anymore. I've had it. Time to find a new business, to support.

This spot is amazing! I've been craving oxtail for years. The oxtail was full of flavor, and the meat fell off the bone. The delivery person was kind as well! Would definitely reorder from this establishment again.

Ordered take out. Service was excellent because the food was delivered early, hot and well packaged. Got the jerk chicken and oxtail dinner. The oxtails were well flavored. I prefer mine w a bit more juice but they were not dinged for it. Peas and rice and plantains well made and flavor pad was the cabbage. The jerk chicken had gold but not great flavor but it was on the dry side. Like it was over cooked possibly. But I would give them another try to make it up because it wasn't terrible. The portion sizes are great too. Every ting was irie.

For lunch a medium oxtail with rice and peas and a tamarind Juice for $28 is reason enough to not come back to this place. The oxtail was average and the portion was on the small side. Tamarind juice was the stand out here and priced about right for $5.

I literally just stepped off a plain from the Caribbean and needed a dinner to help me feel like I'm still on the beach. I speak from the heart, the food on the island i just came from can't touch the quality of this spot! Jerk chicken is a 10! Take a look at what's left on the plate!

I always passed by melting pot when taking the 103 bus and today I decided to try it out after my Costco trip . Ordered ahead and it was ready a few minutes after getting there . Staff were super nice have us bags for our Costco stuff so we wouldn't have to carry them . It was me and my boyfriends first time here and him knowing Jamaican food said it was the best he has ever had. We ordered the medium oxtail meal two Jamaican patties one chicken one beef , two coco breads , 2 pc fried chicken and of course a side order of mac & cheese . Everything was great. The fried chicken not greasy which is a plus The medium oxtail meal came with veggies rice and peas and a plantain it was very good and hit the spot The beef and chicken patties with coco bread was what my boyfriend craved and he said it's his new favorite spot Mac and cheese we waited a bit longer for but was with the wait We will coming back soon and felt very welcomed by the staff

The best Jamaican restaurant in the area. Oxtails and stew chicken are my favorite. Food is always on point. This is my go to restaurant for Jamaican food. Love it

Jerk chicken (quarter) was pretty good - well-seasoned, juicy, easy to pull off the bones. Not very spicy without adding the jerk sauce on the side. My wife enjoyed the curry chicken too. Patties (one beef, one curry chicken) were bit dry and short of filling and flavor. It hit the spot for grabbing quick Jamaican food without venturing to Brooklyn, the Bronx, or the far edge of Queens from Long Island City. But not the best we've had by far

Oxtail with rice is off the hook however I wish their services are quicker. I ordered delivery take out twice here to work. For take out delivery make sure you ordered at least one hour in advance during lunch time. It will take at least 5-7 tries reaching them over the phone to place your lunch orders. Perhaps they are short of staff. Once my call is answered, I was placed on hold for 5 mins. I can hear from the phone they are super busy and phones ringing off the hook. Oxtail were so tasty. Love their sauce. It was served with steamed vegetables and two pieces of plantain over rice and beans. Cost about $14.10.

I would like to give this place 6 stars, but parking around here is horrible during the day. The oxtail was beautifully seasoned and cooked to perfection, as well as the rice and peas. The space is nice and open, and staff very friendly. Definitely a hidden gem.

So...first time. Large oxtails, rice and peas, cabbage, beef patty, coco bread. Delivery took 2 hours. Coco bread- meh. 1st time and last time. Beef patty-still frozen in the middle. imagine my confusion. Oxtails- hot, pretty good, but would've been tender had they simmered ,idk, 2 more hours. Cabbage- it's cool. Rice and peas-salt city. I AM SICK OF WASTING MONEY ON SUBPAR FOOD. Would I order again? Nah. $30 for this? EL-OH-EL. Gonna check out some places in Harlem or manhattan.

The best oxtails you'll ever taste . Yes it's expensive but if you buy them at the supermarket you'll pay a steep price and I guarantee yours don't taste as good as theirs, Treat yourself . You won't be disappointed.

We saw this place during a run and decided to stop for a quick dinner. Glad we did! We shared a jerk chicken meal (jerk chicken, veggies, rice and beans, plantains) for $12, and it was amazing! The chicken was well seasoned and moist, and you can't beat the price for a healthy meal!

It was hard for me to give them this and they really deserve no stars. The oxtails are non flavorful just taste like meat. The rice was very nasty and they have the audacity to increase their prices. They should pay people to eat this food. It's best that they close down and just cook for their families. I also called them to tell them about they food and the cashier was very rude and unprofessional. In order to strive in life you must be able to accept constructive criticism. If you have money to waste then order if not, order from somewhere else or just cook.

I was suuuupppperr hype when I found a Jamaican restaurant in Astoria..it's a 3 minute drive from my house but i was feeling lazy so I decide to order on seamless and have it delivered. I was very specific in what I ordered..leaving comments under "specific instructions". I have been craving Jamaican fried chicken so I decided to order it. I specifically asked for white meat and guess what I got everyone...dark meat :/ I was very disappointed but I still decided to try it anyway. mistake on my part..the chicken was bland, salty and soggy( I was looking for crispy chicken. I've visited other Jamaican establishment where the chicken is crispy and flavorful. The melting pot definitely dropped the ball on this one. Also the menu isn't clear as to what you get with you meal. I wasn't sure the large fried chicken came with rice because it didn't specify so I ordered a separate order of rice so now I have 2 things of rice that I will not be eating . I also order the macaroni and cheese to try but that is also bland. It has a thick layer of hard yellow cheese on top and I'm scared to eat it lol. I'm not trying to bash this place. I was just expecting better food. I'm Jamaican so I know what it's supposed to taste like. I'll definitely give the restaurant another shot. Hopefully it's better..stay tuned!

Rounding up from a 3.5 here. This review is just based on a takeout order of curry chicken. Food was pretty good, definitely hit the spot. And takeout portion was huge. A nice option in the area for when you can't trek out to deep queens or bk. And the woman behind the counter was nice enough to put extra curry sauce over the rice for me.

Ordered delivery, which came pretty quickly. The curry chicken roti and codfish fritters were flavorful and just what I craved.

I've about had it with Melting Pot. I just waited for two solid hours for a medium oxtail, 6 plantains, and 2 fried dumplings. There is absolutely no excuse that warrants a 2 HOUR wait time for already cooked food. I've supported the business thru it's inconsistencies but this is the last straw. Dear Melting Pot, As the only Jamaican food restaurant in the neighborhood you have the opportunity to represent the West Indian cuisine and culture in LIC/Astoria. Please keep that in mind and Do better! There are way too many options on these delivery apps for you all to treat paying customers this way. Thanks.

If in Long Island City and looking for oxtails. They are a must visit. I am very picky when it comes to oxtails, they have the best that I have had on this side of Queens. They have 2 sizes and I visit about twice a month as a treat. They will pack your plate, and they are super friendly.

Finally found some Jamaican food in Astoria!! I grew up eating Jamaican food in miami. Every now and then I crave the taste of jerk chicken or Jamaican curry and rice and peas...this place does not disappoint. I believe my jerk chicken meal with rice and peas, salad, sweet plantains and soda, was less than $10. I ate every last bite. The chicken fell off the bone as if it had been marinating for a week. I let the jerk gravy cover the rice and peas and basically scarfed it down. Very cute with ample seating and cute vases on the table. It felt more coffee shop than Jamaican restaurant. Just wish it weren't so far near the water. If they opened near a more populated area in Astoria- guaranteed more business!

Food is delicious... but if you are ordering for delivery, expect an unreasonable long wait. It takes them over an hour and a half to deliver anything. At first i thought it was a one off... but it happens every time I order. Too many other good food options in Astoria to put up with this.

If you are feening for some authentic Jamaican food in Western Queens (and why wouldn't you be?), you couldn't do any better than Melting Pot. The jerk chicken here was just as good as any other I've ever had (outside of Jamaica) and paired with some rice and peas, you can't go wrong. The chicken was tender and tasty, with some kick to it. You can always get a table, as it's never crowded, so I'm guessing they do most of their business via takeout/delivery. If that's the case, they should be around awhile, so those of us in western Queens can get some good Jamaican food. Otherwise, you have to go deep in to Queens or Brooklyn.

Great Jamaican food. Worth a trip if you're like Carribean takeout. Portions are generous. You're not going there for ambiance- inside looks like a cab dispatch but Mangement is nice .

This spot is a keeper on my list! I love me some Caribbean food and I only like a few spots, one particularly in bk but living in LIC Queens it's so hard to find! So finally a spot close to home with some GREAT oxtails! My bae had stew chicken and he loved it!!!! Definitely will be back!

Ordered the curry chicken & jerk chicken, all so flavorful! Chicken is tender and falls right off the bone. Also got a side of the mac n cheese... honestly some of the best I've ever had!! Again, so flavorful!

I bf (who btw was raised in JA) and I love this place. The food is consistently stellar, they usually have everything on the menu (unlike many other spots that will leave you with the whut left by the time it's 3pm), they serve generous portions and have honored our special requests. This is our GO TOO spot!

I finally made it back for lunch. Their space is very big, clean (with dark sleek wooden chairs and tables), and well lit with lots of windows and a view of the Roosevelt Island bridge. It seems like they have a good take-out business, a lot of the workers were sitting around watching futbol, and they seem to know the locals and Con Ed workers. I got the oxtail and it was as good as I expected. They only have the oxtail in a medium ($10.50) or large size. The medium came with sauteed cabbage, carrots, and strings of collards, 2 plantains, rice & red beans, and about 5 pieces of oxtail. I asked for light on the sauce. What a great lunch! with a little bit of leftovers. They have a new breakfast special, beef patties, and a few cakes in their fridge as well.

Such good Jamaican food- I like it better than Golden Crust! Beef patties are a must as well as the jerk chicken, curry goat, and ox tail! They also have DG Ginger Ginger beer which is my favorite

The food is alright, but the owner and the ladies that take the orders are not warm and friendly. They all have attitudes and act like they are doing you a favor. When I'm getting food I expect it to be served with love & careI see how they treat white folks and it's yes ma'am, thank you, have a nice day. I sat down while I waited to order once & the owner yelled at me "no sitting"! Wtf!? No hello and not even a thank you after I spent 65 bucks. They all need customer service training. . I only go once in a while because of their attitude but I don't forsee myself ever patronizing them again. I gave one star because I had to!

Very rude people. Just left from there and will never go again. I walked this establishment, greeted the woman at the counter. She doesn't even acknowledge me at all. Then she rudely takes my order no thank you come again or nothing. The food is not great or good for that matter. This place is a NO!

Rice and peas was so dry and hard. I wondered it was from yesterday. They should check before they sell to customers to make sure the quality. If rice is bad, the whole meal is ruined. Otherwise they have solid good Jamaican food, but they got to make sure the quality is good everyday. That's how you lose a customer.

We ordered in and had it delivered. Which was perfect for a cold football night. I had the oxtails, Rice & Peas with cabbage and sweet plantains. It was very much enjoyed. Will definitely be going back!

Service is slow (as said before) and it is a bit off from the usual hussle and bussle but today is Labor Day and I needed a West Indian fix without trekking to Brooklyn. The food is solid here. The mac and cheese is probably the best I've ever had, rice and peas tastes like home. Jerk chicken was fall off the bone as was the oxtail. Medium oxtail was $12 Medium jerk chicken was $10. They have various sizes and such. All comes with rice and peas, veggies and sweet plantains. Baked mac & cheese was $4 I will say I wish the jerk chicken was spicier and had more of a kick but since this isnt a typical Caribbean neighborhood, perhaps making it less spicy caters to all. They did have hot sauce but I was getting it to go. There's no AC so eating there in the summer may be a terrible idea though they have lots of seating, and they do deliver but I don't know how good they are on time since I did a pick up order. They don't accept $50 or $100 bills. I would definitely go back. Check it out!

I cant believe this place is even on yelp, every negative comments are true about this place. Im not sorry to say this but the place is mediocre as a jamaican restaurant, the delivery is super slow (2 hrs wait), they wont even compensate or apologize for it not arriving on time. I am surprise that this place is still open when the restaurant is empty most of the time. Do me and your self a favor and stay away from this place.

Food was average. Beef patty showed up burnt on one side and dry. Curry goat roti was good. Rice and peas was different than any other Caribbean restaurant. It was "saucy " and overall ok nothing memorable. Curry chicken was good. I could actually deduct another star since the delivery took over 1 and a half hours but I've ordered from here before and expected it. They don't really have much competition in the neighborhood so they can get away with it.
