A cozy spot serving up delicious Mediterranean tapas and Moroccan dishes with friendly service that'll have you coming back for more.
"Meme has two locations, and we especially like the one in the West Village. The dining room is a little small, but there’s a good amount of outdoor seating where you can hang out and watch West-Village-residing celebrities walk their dogs. The food here is an affordable mix of the Mediterranean greatest hits and crowd-pleasing dishes like brussels sprouts and mac & cheese. It isn’t going to blow your mind, but the servers are nice, and if you’re looking for a nice little place with some healthy-ish stuff like salad or lemon chicken with vegetables, Meme will do just fine." - hannah albertine, bryan kim
"For lunch, I had mediterranean food: chicken shawarma, pita bread, lamb shawarma, and hummus from Mémé."
"Let’s face it: The Cafe Breslin’s famous lamb burger is usually spoken of as the best in town, thick and juicy and presented with real distinction on a wooden cutting board with a serrated carving knife. That place has been closed since the pandemic and nothing else can quite compete, though this entry in the lamb burger sweepstakes from a little corner cafe in the West Village comes pretty close. The burger is thick and striped from the grill, the tomatoes themselves charred for extra oomph, and a whipped-up gob of feta proves itself better than mayo. The fries that come alongside, a complete necessity where all burgers are concerned, are also very presentable. I wish the burger were on a regular bun instead of a too-crusty baguette — but you can’t have everything." - Robert Sietsema
"Saying a restaurant serves Mediterranean food doesn’t tell you a whole lot. The place might serve grilled octopus or shawarma or ravioli, or in the case of Meme, all of the above. This place is a good option for when you’re eating with picky or indecisive friends, and it's never too tough to get a table here." - Matt Tervooren, Neha Talreja
"It’s always useful to know about a spot where you can get a plate of pasta, some hummus, or a nice piece of fish. If you’re in the West Village, that place is Meme. The food isn’t flashy, but it’s solid and packs wide appeal (tuna tartare, paella, kebabs, etc.), and it’ll get the job done when you’re wandering around the West Village wondering where you can sit and eat things without having to wait for several hours in order to get seated. Stop by with someone you need to catch up with, or bring your parents and make some small talk in the homey space while you eat a chopped salad." - Bryan Kim
