"It’s the second DFW restaurant for the chain, joining the year-old spot in Downtown Dallas at 2000 Ross Avenue." - Brittanie Shey

Sandwich Shop Mendocino Farms Opens Its Newest Location in Addison - Eater Dallas

@eater

"The countdown is on for popular Cali sandwich and salad shop Mendocino Farms’ expansion into Dallas. That’s meant quite literally: there’s a countdown clock on the company’s website ticking off the 28 days until Mendocino Farms opens up at downtown Dallas’s 2000 Ross Avenue between N. Harwood and Olive. The highly anticipated downtown spot is slated to open on Wednesday, March 11 at 11 a.m. Mendocino Farms opened its original shop in Los Angeles in 2005, and it has racked up more than 30 locations since then, including multiple outposts in Houston. The chain is known for sandwiches like “Not So Fried” Chicken sandwich with shaved, crunchy roasted chicken breast herb aioli and mustard pickle slaw; The Farm Club with smashed avocado; and Mendo’s Original Pork Belly Banh Mi on toasted ciabatta. Salads include bowl like a concoction featuring avocado, black beans, jicama succotash, and a mix of crunchy fried quinoa, millet, heirloom red rice, and nutritional yeast on leafy greens. Mendocino Farms is currently hiring for its Dallas location, and there will be a hiring fair on Saturday, February 15 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 2000 Ross Ave., Suite 100." - Adele Chapin

During a three-day stay in Dallas for the eclipse, our lunch here was definitely the highlight meal. I had The Happy Hippie sandwich, and my wife had the Avocado & Quinoa Superfood Ensalada (we're vegetarian.) Both were great, but let me tell you...my sandwich was heavenly! Probably due largely to the white cheddar and dill cucumber ranch dressing, but pair those with the bountiful veggies and it was truly a superb sandwich. Not much else to say about the place; typical fast casual environment, but I would definitely go back, given the chance.

Google
Absolutely horrible experience. Ordered a sandwich for takeout for lunch at the location near my office and the main ingredient, hummus, was left out leaving a sandwich consisting of garnishes that cost nearly $14.00. They also toasted the bread (which I did not request) and it was burnt. To top it off, they never texted me when my order was ready so I waited over a half hour for no reason. I tried to call to get a refund but gave up after holding for so long. I have been here before and it was great but it obviously has gone downhill.

Google
Very fresh and healthy options. I had the beet and goat cheese salad and super greens juice with a little lemonade mixed in. By far the best fresh beets I’ve had! Highly recommend.

Google
Their “not-so-fried” chicken was my favorite choice of all foods! The foods concept was interesting, and the staff members were all very friendly. Environment was very clean and spacious. Loved everything about it👏

The Turkey Avo Salsa Verde sandwich I had was delicious! My wife had the Pink Beats and Goat Salad was also delicious! I highly recommend this place.

Google
First time to order from here. We had lunch delivered and was excited to try, the menu has some great stuff on it. I ordered the Hot Honey Peach and Prosciutto Sandwich and the Watermelon Street Cart Salad. The sandwich had Italian Prosciutto & sliced peaches with fresh mozzarella, crushed honey roasted almonds, Calabrian chili aioli, hot peach honey, arugula, on a toasted sesame roll. The salad was watermelon, cucumber, jicama, fresh mint, green onion, and chili lime vinaigrette. The flavor was amazing, by far the best sandwich I have had in a while. This place is a definite go to place, a must try.

Just had a great experience here. Why eat at Museum cafes when this gem is there? Ahmad suggested the Turkey Avo Salsa Verde sandwich, and the Avocado & Quinoa Superfood Ensalada with chicken add on. Both choices were outstanding. I also had the Pomegranate Mint Lemonade (fruity, a bit of tart but not too sweet) The ingredients were fresh and high quality. No deli meat - it was fresh cut roasted chicken and turkey. Greens were fresh in the salad and the combination of ingredients was creative. The three sides we tried (Chopped Italian Chickpea Salad, Kale & Apple Rainbow Salad and Spicy Curried Couscous ) were delicious and unusual. Service from Ahmad was outstanding. He was knowledgeable, professional and friendly with a warm smile!

Yelp
My favorite salad spot! Ambiance is great! Food is great Customer service is great Will be back to try the Oaxaca salad!

Yelp
PLEASE open a Mendocino Farms off 75 in Allen, PLEASE!!! This place has it all - convenient, fresh, tasty, decently priced, plenty of seating, sandwiches + salads + good kid options + drinks + soups + sides and the portion sizes are awesome! My husband picked this place for a date night spot, not your typical date night spot I know, but he nailed it! This is the exact kind of place I love and we both had a great meal, felt full and it was so nice to know everything we ate was fresh. I really hope we get some locations up north in Collin County soon!

Yelp
Location Downtown Dallas Parking Lot/garage Atmosphere casual -no tv's Seating Booths, high top counter with upholstered chairs or stools. Good for groups, outdoor tables Service Order at the counter, food brought to you. Menu One look at this menu and I thought-YES!!! Did not disappoint in person. The modern caesar was huge-loaded with cherry/grape tomatoes, kale, chopped romaine, purple onions, shaved parmesan, quinoa. Yum-the dressing was AMAZING-not salty and a touch of lemon. The shaved chicken was moist and plentiful. Salads to go-spicy potato salad, chickpea, rainbow apple!! So yum! Summary Downtown hipster like salad/sandwich place-very clean. Friendly and informative service. Love everything on the menu!!! Have to come back soon.

Taylor W.

Yelp
HOLY DELICIOUS! got the peach salad and she is soo good. there's the perfect sweet flavor with touches of mint and kale that brings it all together

Kevin N.

Yelp
that chicken peato was too much peato pesto la. pesto pesto pesto service and ambience was so pesto as well very pesto. Especially the pesto

jeff b.

Yelp
The food was incredible. Really it tasted so fresh and flavorful. I had the Turku avo sandwich and it was delicious. My wife got the pork belly baby mi and had it as a salid and she ate it down. My daughter had the chance to cken pesto caprese and she said it was fantastic. I had a side of the couscous and man was it good. The people that worked here were also amazing and so friendly. We will definitely be back. Love this place.

Kate M.

Yelp
Very nice and fast service. All pretty tasty, some better than others for sure. Really liked the Thai chicken sandwich and the Mediterranean crunch salad. Crunchy quinoa in the salad made it very fun to eat a bowl of greens. Their homemade lemonade runs pretty sweet though. Validated parking in the building it's connected to. Follow the street and you'll find it. Nice quick lunch spot.

Yelp
We stumbled across the BEST eating place just five minutes walk from Sheraton. I searched Yelp for highest-rated food near us, and the place was an unbelievable treat: the food was delicious, and the staff even more amazing. Rebecca and I split a salad and there was more than enough for both of us--for $15. Delicious. I had a store-made green drink. Phenomenal. Rebecca: "Such good tastes it's unreal." Indeed. Mendocino, please come to SW Florida!

Rachel L.

Yelp
This place is consistently fresh and delicious. I love they do seasonal items to change things up. I order them on UberEats quite often and have never had an order wrong. Can't wait to try more things.

Kathy N.

Yelp
Food was delicious! And the service was so nice. The place is also really cute! We also came for lunch and there was no line.

Bill U.

Yelp
We had a group of five that stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for an order that we had ordered to go. We took our food and walked down to the park to sit outside on a beautiful day here in Dallas. I ordered the A Sandwich Study of Heat and it was delicious! The staff was great and not an ingredient missing from our orders. We'll definitely return will return.

David C.

Yelp
Was at a meeting in the area and wanted a good option for lunch, Healthy meal and clean restaurant, Super friendly and fast service. Stevie was very cool and gave us some great recommendations. I tried the pork belly sandwiches.definitely check this place out!

Rachel P.

Yelp
For a quick lunch after arriving late from the airport. The vibe of this place is so cute! Love the bright colors and open space. The girl at the counter it was super friendly, and offered great suggestions and answered questions since it was our first time here. I ended up with the pink lady beet salad. It was delightful! I ate every bite. My first experience with that type of beets, and I'll be on the lookout for them at the grocery store.

Yelp
Long line, order ahead online if you can. I did just that when I saw the line out the door. I walked around for 15 mins while my order was getting made. I did wait an extra 4 mins past the order time. However, it was super and prime lunch time 12:15-12:30 pm. Salad was delicious! I love the chipotle vinaigrette. The cookie was meh. And the place is pricey but I figured I'd try it since it was close to my conference hotel. I love salads and it was truly unique and tasty

Kiet L.

Yelp
As of Vietnamese born American, I was very skeptical of trying the banh mi. But it was definitely delicious and the ciabatta bread was a nice twist because sometimes French baguettes hurt. Definitely would recommend.

Janrose S.

Yelp
What we thought: I had a spa appointment and my friend was working at a coffee shop on the same street so we decided to go back to Mendocino Farms since it was so good at the other location we'd tried. The service at this location was excellent and the lady at the register explained that if you're dining in, you scan the QR code at the table you choose and they bring the food to you. I asked for a water cup and she said the water cups by the drink fountain are small so she gave me a regular drink cup for my water, which was super nice and appreciated. Everything was delicious yet again, but I do think I preferred the Peruvian Steak sandwich I got the first time. My friend enjoyed her salad but wished there were more broccolini but I'm sure you could ask for extra! What we got: - Chimichurri Steak & Shishito Bowl Roasted, carved steak over ancient grains tossed with caramelized onion jam & chimichurri, baby spinach, roasted shishito peppers with broccolini, tomatoes & red onions, grilled lemon (740 cal) - Chimichurri Steak & Bacon Roasted, carved steak and Applewood smoked bacon topped with marinated red peppers, caramelized onion jam, chimichurri, shredded romaine, herb aioli (640 cal) on a toasted sesame roll (300 cal) - Basil Pesto Pasta Shells pasta shells, basil pesto, sun dried tomatoes, feta cheese, parmesan, arugula

Milkey S.

Yelp
Great and healthy lunch. Stopped in over a friends recommendation. Had a fresh tasting sandwich. Liked the sides as well.

Minly L.

Yelp
A previous review described Mendocino Farms as an upscale Panera, that is the most accurate description of this place. I had the Caesar salad, it was filling and had a great crunch from what I assume to be fried or air fried quinoa. So good! It's a great quick stop for lunch.

Alexandre C.

Yelp
Staff was very nice and the food tasted great but was also very healthy! The cookies tasted really good and they even gave us one on the house. This is an extremely underrated restaurant and I would highly recommend it for a nice lunch with your friends or family. The scenery was very nice with nice decorations. Awesome place to eat!

Yolanda S.

Yelp
I ordered the Chicken Pesto Caprese & the Southern Macaroni Salad. Everything about the CPC was delicious, including the bread & it has the perfect amount of glaze. The SMS is also delicious - it has a little bit of a bite. Both items are a must order

Krista G.

Yelp
We've eaten at the location in Legacy West before and thought the food was awesome so we took some friends to this location for lunch and it was not the same. The restaurant was clean and parking is plentiful but it was such a weird experience. The restaurant was easily 60° inside. We were freezing! It was so cold, we kept out hats and coats on to eat. It was a cold day but jeez. We got the Peruvian steak, chimichurri steak & shishito bowl, avocado & quinoa superfood ensalada and the chicken pesto caprese sandwich. For the sides we had the curry soup and Greek lemon chicken soup. The bowls were a nice change up from our normal sandwich choices and were a good portion. The soups were a welcomed warm option because it was so cold in the building. Overall nothing was outstanding but nothing was bad. The lemonades were still as good as always.

Manta K.

Yelp
I would compare Mendocino farms to an upscale Panera. There are a number of sandwich and salad options and a few bowl options. There are many different options for various dietary restrictions. Portions are a generous size and the tofu bahn mi I ordered was delicious. The side of pasta salad that came with it was yummy as well. I tried the lemon cheesecake cookie which was tasty. I am knocking one star due to all the plastic packaging that is used. I feel like for dine in the company should look to reduce disposable containers and utilize reusable ones instead. Good to know: -Hours: M-F 11am-7:30pm. Closed on weekends -order online at the counter or use the ordering station (that was broken the day I came in -they will give you a buzzer where someone will bring your food to you -you can order online and have your food bagged and waiting for you at pickup

Sam R.

Yelp
I've never had such great service at a casual restaurant like this. Stevie happened to be outside while we were walking up and I was about to go in the wrong door. It was for order pick ups and had signage on it that I wasn't paying attention to. Stevie was super friendly and let me know it would be better to go in thru the other door so we would be right at the menu and counter. Instead of just pointing to it, he walked with us and opened the door for us. It may sound silly, but this really impressed me! Then when we were looking over the menu, the cashier, George was very helpful and friendly. The food was good too. I loved the vegan banh mi and the curry couscous. My sons got the farm club and liked them. Will definitely come here again if we're in the area. I find that great service is hard to come by and really appreciate the awesome service here!

Victoria W.

Yelp
A very corporate lunch - the place was clean and we got our order fast! Mediterranean Chicken Bowl ~ super yummy & healthy! bowl includes roasted chicken over whole-grain bulgur with vinaigrette & tahini yogurt sauce, and veggies

Kevin P.

Yelp
We love Mendo Farms for both the sandwiches and the salads...oh. And the sandwiches as salads. Food quality and flavors are high and the staff is generally very well trained. Oh, and the restaurants are always tidy, so eating in is usually what we do.

Kris M.

Yelp
Great menu and service. Plan ahead and order online. The rotating menu offers great seasonal sandwiches!

Sandy O.

Yelp
Fresh food, clean facilities, great service. It's been quite some time since I made my way into a Mendocino Farms. The last stop was in California. I was still impressed and left happy and full. If you're looking for fresh and tasty options, be sure to stop in!

Travis S.

Yelp
Hands down the best healthy fast casual sandwich spot in Dallas. Tons of healthy options. The no so fried chicken is spectacular along with the chicken caprese pesto Sando. Unreal sides. I go here at least once a week and it never disappoints. Can't wait to try the other menu items on their vast menu. The service here is spectacular someone is always asking if you need any help.

Neema S.

Yelp
The food was good, same as the other Mendos I've been to in California. However, I'd avoid M-F especially during lunch hours. I placed my order online at 11am. It said it would be ready in 75 minutes at 12:15pm. When I showed up to pick it up, it wasn't even being worked on, and took another 45 minutes. 2 hour wait for a sandwich and soup is absurd.

Celina B.

Yelp
Working in downtown, this place is always packed during lunch. I finally got to try it and it did not disappoint! I got the wonton Chinese salad with chicken and the miso dressing was soooooooooo good!!! I want the recipe! I posted of a pic of my clean bowl!

Amanda L.

Yelp
Y'all ever have a hangover just annoying enough to have incredibly specific cravings? Mine are vegetables. Salads. But so much more than chopped lettuce and sauce. I needed a real, whole-story salad. I ordered off a delivery app and, considering I'm 15+ miles from downtown I shot my shot and ordered a LOT. 1) avo and quinoa ensalade - I don't know what the superfood "krunchies" are but suffice it to say I wanted all of them. I was full and still swiped the sides of the bowl for more. A few times. Well, several times. At least a baker's dozen times. I may have licked the bowl. And fork. Just to make sure. It was lovely! 2) Thai mango salad - yooooo. I don't care for raw spinach or kale but I annihilated every bite of this one! I LOVE mango (just the right amount) and that Thai almond dressing was incredible. Just enough kick to make you go back for more but the rest of the salad stole the show. Damn good. 3) strawberry fields- on a whim I went for this one. I'm a savory gal, not much for sweets so fruit in a salad doesn't often get my attention. I'm used to a spinach and strawberry boringggg but this was so much more! No spinach (yeehaw!) and the Gouda goat cheese totally took me by surprise! It tasted like goat cheese but also like Gouda- yea I get the name BUT I've been disappointed by try-hard cheeses in the past and this made my lactose loving heart very happy! The dressing was phenom. I loved every bite. 4) prosciutto and honey peach sandwich- My hubby reviewed this one best: I wasn't sure I liked it after the first bite but as I was licking my fingers with the chaos of the sandwich I realized I loved it. Unexpected, indeed! This was the only part of the order I was willing to share- it's just too good not to. The amount of times I've had to fight with prosciutto to only get a bite vs the whole slice and half the sandwich- not a problem here! Came apart beautifully with minimal fight! 5) banh mi- it was everything you want in a Vietnamese sandwich; fresh, simple, and delicious. A Vietnamese sandwich from a sando/salad place? Yea it doesn't make sense but I enjoyed every bite. I suspect someone's bá is back there lovingly adding a quick pickle to the vegetables and slapping the delightful pork around. I looooove spice so the accouterment of spicy curry couscous was nonsensical in the traditional way but I've tossed my notions of food typing out the door with my to go containers. I want a pile of that couscous! There's love in there. Y'all. I'm not kidding when I say this food made me feel better. I thought it was the hangover relieving itself but nah. Had my last salad for lunch today (sans hangover) and I genuinely feel like I did something good for my body. I'd never heard of this place prior to yesterday but I already know I'll be ordering it when i go to Dallas for work. I look forward to trying more of the menu and figuring out the makeup of the mysterious krunchies (while annihilating them).

diana h.

Yelp
Service was quick, food was good. The potato salad was great. Not super crowded, big open space with lots of indoor tables and a few outdoor.

Rachel F.

Yelp
I absolutely loved this place. The whole place felt super clean and had very nice vibes! The lady who checked me out was super friendly, I asked her a lot of questions about the menu and she was very knowledgeable and helpful! I got the sweet heat crispy Thai chicken sandwich and I loved it! Sandwich was not too spicy and had a sweet kick! Food came out quickly!

Kevin L.

Yelp
John greeted us with a smile! The Thai chicken sandwich and Peruvian steak sandwich were awesome! I loved the potato salad and my wife thought the couscous was the bomb. Everything was epically prepared and the entire staff was super!

Ghazaleh R.

Yelp
This place is so good. This is my second turn coming here. Bummer that it's only open Monday-Friday. I have tried the study of heat and the Peruvian steak sandwich so far and loves them both. I have tried both sandwiches on Ciabatta bread which was fantastic. They also have gluten free bread as an option. For sides I have tried the potato salad and the kale salad. I thought potato salad was kind of bland but the kale salad is so good. Overall everyone that works here is so nice and helpful and the service great. 100% recommend.

Chris B.

Yelp
The best lunch spot! I've been eating at MF in LA for years and then moved to Vegas. It's a glaring omission from my life now... BUT, I found this one on a work trip in Dallas, and now I'm eating it every day. It still holds up ,as every sandwich and side I've tried is amazing! And the lemonade variety was a new surprise for me.. rose lemonade.. mmmmm

Rissa H.

Yelp
Let me tell you something... this restaurant... SO good! They have a great selection of fresh sandwiches and salads. They also have a selection of chips, soups and sides to choose from as well. I'm not much of a potato salad person but their spicy Dijon potato salad is amazing. It has a good sweetness to it and the spice is just right. I highly suggest getting a lemon cheesecake cookie too. I'm a sucker for anything lemon flavored. The best cookie I've ever had. Very clean and organized and someone was there to greet me as I walked up to the register.

Martha C.

Yelp
Pricey but good sandwiches. Husband wishes the sandwiches were bigger too. More drink options please!!

Bryan M.

Yelp
I just didn't want to wait for nothing. time can be a killer. MF provides a much better product and service than a single star.

Cale K.

Yelp
Excellent food in quality and freshness. A travelers delight! I recommend the beets and goat cheese salad. This place has a clean vibe and friendly staff.

John C.

Yelp
Besties 2023 very fun. We found a little issue with our order, manager called, and they comp'd some! Overall, one of our favorite places.

Jessica Z.

Yelp
I've been to Mendocino Farms in Palo Alto and was super excited to see that they have one in Dallas now!! This place is so delicious, fast, fresh, and the flavors are incredible. I got the "not so fried" chicken sandwich with bbq sauce and a side of the spicy curried couscous. The spicy curried couscous is absolutely incredible. The spice is a really warm spice and is not too hot for me. There are little carrot pieces in there which add an awesome crunch. The not so fried chicken sandwich was excellent as well. I love the "mendo's krispies" that they put on the sandwich. I can't get over how fresh and delicious everything here is. The only drawback for me personally is that I don't live or work downtown, so I have to drive into the city and they're not open on weekends. There is a garage, and they'll validate parking which is nice since parking downtown can be hard. I There was some construction around the garage when I went by today which made it slightly harder to navigate, so next time I go I'll probably do the curbside pick up for the convenience.

Susan B.

Yelp
A fresh and filling meal! Had the soup option as a deli side which was meh; the sandwich was the definite star of the meal. Per downtown Dallas rules, easy parking nearby is hard to find. Popped in as I was in the neighbourhood and in walking distance.

Steve M.

Yelp
This place has the most incredible salads and sandwiches! It's all fresh, healthy, and very tasty! John took care of our order at the register and gave top notch service and went above and beyond to make sure my friend's first experience here was a good one.

Brian F.

Yelp
$5 dollar "cup" of soup Buyer beware- this comes with the half sandwich half soup. Blah blah blah blah blah blah

Phillip H.

Yelp
Really friendly service, very clean, follow-up, and handsome staff. Did I mention the food is AMAZING? I work in the TCC building and this was my first time at Mendocino Farms. It will be a weekly place for me.

Brittney T.

Yelp
Love Mendocino Farms! I fell in love with the Cali location and was so excited that they came to Dallas! I've been several times since and the quality is consistent. I'm super bummed that they don't have the vegan cheese anymore and that they don't let you have the chips as a side tho. Overall great place and one of the only spots I can get a good vegan sandwich!

Jason R.

Yelp
If doing takeout check your bag before leaving. either incompetent or underfed but they routinely leave the sides out. That's w/a tip.
