I like to visit Houston’s Rice Village. The small shops are quaint, and the eateries are just right for an afternoon lunch or dinner. My most recent Sunday afternoon visit to Rice Village included a stop at Mendocino Farms, a deli style eatery.
The emphasis at Mendocino Farms is on healthier alternatives. They serve assorted sandwiches, salads, and soups. The options include such tasty sandwich choices as Chicken Pesto, Chimichurri Steak & Bacon, The Farm Club, and others. The sandwiches are freshly prepared and yes, they have a very fresh, wholesome taste.
One option I recommend is the one- half combo. It’s a great idea when your appetite leans toward the moderate side. With this option, you get a half sandwich and either a deli salad or bowl of soup. I paired my Chicken Sandwich with a bowl of tomato soup and it was excellent. There are several vegan options and if you have kids, there is a menu made just for them, too.
Another thing to love about Mendocino Farms is the beverages. Once again, they stick with the healthy theme and they offer several house- made drinks like Guava Lemonade, Get Your Greens, Pomegranate Mint Lemonade, and others. This is certainly better than the usual soft drink, and the drinks match well with most any food you order.
With the service, it’s efficient and well- organized. You place your order at the counter, get yourself a self- serve drink, then choose a table. You then scan the code on your table and enter the number on your receipt. The staff will then deliver your food to your table when it’s ready, which should be less than 10 minutes. There is indoor seating and outdoor seating. I recommend the latter, if the weather is nice.
I love a quick, tasty lunch and Mendocino Farms is an excellent choice for quickness and food that satisfies. The fresh taste of the food, the healthier drink options, and the efficient, friendly service make this the perfect option for an afternoon lunch or dinner in Houston’s Rice Village area.
