Mendocino Farms

Back for lunch today and the same great experience and the delicious food. See photos of today’s selections. One of my companions was in the mood for a sandwich and boy did we find a great place. I had never been here before and was with two vegans. The menu was extensive and a huge amount of vegetarian and vegan options. The service was prompt and friendly. There is a kiosk system, but someone at the counter did the ordering for us. We had the vegan bon mi sandwiches all around! They were wonderful. Tofu, some type of mayonnaise, Sriracha something sweet lettuce, etc. etc. etc. The bread was soft inside crusty on the outside. We also had a side of dill pickle potato salad made with vegan mayonnaise that we shared. It was also superb. Will be a definite stop when I am able to get here. I am kind of glad there are none of these in my area as I would be here much too frequently.

This was my first time here. It is really fresh and delicious. They have a variety of great salads, soups, and sandwiches. I did find that this is very family friendly. Lots of children and kids menu available. There were a lot of call head orders, and the place was busy. So plan ahead or expect to wait at least fifteen minutes for your food.

Mendocino Farms is a delicious restaurant and a great place to come for amazing sandwiches. They also have some incredible juices available for drinks, and I'd recommend trying them if you stop in. We got the "not so fried" chicken and Peruvian steak sandwiches, and both were delicious. This was our 4th or 5th time here, and we keep coming back to these 2 sandwiches. I recommend the "not so fried" chicken for your first time. It comes with a delicious bbq sauce to put on the sandwich, and you won't regret choosing this one. We also highly recommend grabbing a drink while here, as their options are unique and tasty. I always get the pomegranate mint lemonade, as it's my favorite and a great summer drink on the hot days!

Calm place to go eat, spacious, and also have a small patio outside with heaters. Been here couple times with my friend when we want to catch up. We like it because the food is good and it’s chill. However, it is on the pricier side and the portion size of food you get is not much for the price. Depending on how much you eat, this place could serve as a type of snack or appetizer for some. Additionally the times I have visited this place with my friend, the employees who have taken our orders seem upset or not happy to be there which makes it feel like we’re annoying them more by ordering together or something. Other than that everyone else seems friendly. My friend ordered this tangerine seasonal salad that she loved, a chocolate cookie and a lemonade drink. You are able to choose from the lemonade options they have such as guava, pomegranate with mint, and a green one of some sort (which was empty) meaning it could be the most popular. There are also fountain drinks to choose from as well. I ordered the half sandwich with a deli side combo and my friend convinced me to get a cookie as well. I got the turkey sandwich with the pesto pasta salad. Everything was delicious! The pomegranate lemonade was also super refreshing and great! I also recommend the guava one.

Updated review: I had the most amazing meal yesterday, when I came back to San Diego after a long flight. The Steak and Chimichurri Sandwich and lemon chicken soup were incredibly delicious! I highly recommend!!! Previous review: Mendocino Farms calls itself a sandwich market, and they do a great job at that. It’s one of my go-to catering restaurants - I always get great service, good quality, and delicious food. Delivery is seamless every time. I gave 3 stars for atmosphere just because I don’t enjoy dining in - it’s fast-paced and not cozy. But to be fair, they don’t claim to be that kind of place. Overall, the rating is still 5, because this is genuinely a great spot to get sandwiches. My most popular repeat orders: Chicken Pesto Caprese, Not So Fried Chicken Sandwich, Turkey Avo Salsa Verde, The Farm Club, and Mario’s Caprese.

I don't know why everything tastes so much fresher from here than anywhere on earth. Food is consistently outstanding. The way they blend textures and flavors makes salads as satiating as big fat burgers without the stomach ache or guilt trip. Still making my way down the menu.

Mendocino farms catering is top tier! We got it for a product meeting and it exceeded all expectations. I loved the couscous, the crowd favorite was the bacon and steak chimichurri. Thank you so much Holly, Victoria and Kat, you guys are the best.

I met Holly Ward and Andy the LaJolla location GM at Mission Valley mall when they were there with other restaurants promoting their businesses and I entered the contest to win lunch for my office. I was absolutely ecstatic when I won and my office was so impressed with the amazing lunch Holly delivered to us!! The sandwiches and sides, salad and cookies were so delicious and they accommodated everyone’s dietary restrictions! My favorite was the Steak and Bacon Chimichurri sandwich and also thoroughly enjoyed the Quinoa and Avocado Superfood Salad….and the cookies were great too!! I highly, highly recommend trying their catering for your next event, I know our manager plans to!!!

I have always wanted to try the sandwiches at this spot. The menu just looks so delicious, definitely not the run of the mill standard options. I went here with my niece, we were in this area and we needed to grab something quick to eat. There were quite a few items on the menu that looked nommy. We ended up getting 3 sandwiches: 1. Chicken Parm Dip- Chicken, Mendo's krispies, melted mozzarella & parmesan, pomodoro sauce, basil, Calabrian chile aioli, on toasted sesame roll served with extra pomodoro for dipping -I got this sandwich, I swapped out the sesame roll for focaccia bread. This sandwich was super delish, incredibly spicy. I think I made a good choice with swapping out the bread. The bread was sort of toasted, it made me of a crispy buttery crouton. I will say the pomodoro sauce was delicious. 5/5 2. My niece got: Peruvian Steak -seared steak tossed in a spicy aji amarillo sauce, melted Oaxacan cheese, tomatoes, red onions, shredded romaine, herb aioli, on toasted potato roll. They swapped potato roll with ciabatta bread. -My niece also loved their sandwich. The combination of flavors hit the spot. This one also was a bit spicy. 5/5 3. I got my sister the Prosciutto & Chicken- chicken, Italian prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, crushed honey roasted almonds, basil pesto, balsamic glaze, tomatoes, on panini-pressed ciabatta -My sister also enjoyed their sandwich. All the different flavors mixed together, she made a note of the crispy roasted almonds. "how delicious!' 4/5 The flavors are top notch, they definitely take the time to put together amazing unique combinations. However, I will not lie, the size of the sandwiches are pretty dang small for the price you pay!?!? I think my niece's was the most expensive, I think the sandwiches were got ranged from $14 to $16. That is nuts since the sandwich itself is very small and you do not get anything else included. No chips, no salad, no drink, no cookie.. We did get 2 drinks, I was very excited for the passion fruit black tea, but it was way too floral for me. The Guava Lemonade was tasty and the pomegranate mint lemonade is even tastier. They sweeten their drinks with Agave. These drinks are homemade. This place had lots of seating, it's cute inside. The staff was patient, kind and helpful. My mouth was on fire from eating my sandwich and he was kind enough to give me some aioli to help it calm down. Would I come here again? Probably. Nice place with great selection of salads and sandwiches that are creative and healthy. The staff was accommodating. The ambiance is nice. There's an outside area and inside with self serve drinks. You order your food and they deliver to your table. Efficient and fresh food

I had such a great experience at Mendocino Farms thanks to Rylee! I had a last-minute order and was honestly a little stressed about pulling everything together in time, but Rylee made the entire process feel effortless. He was incredibly helpful, responsive, and made sure everything was handled smoothly from start to finish. His attention to detail and willingness to go above and beyond did not go unnoticed. Everything turned out perfectly, highly recommend working with him if you get a chance!

Rude and unprofessional stuff. Very slow even it wasn't busy, felt like they were just keep replacing trays to look busy lol. Never again.

Mendocino Farms is a farm fresh staple! such a variety of sandwiches and sides. some of the Sandos have too much bread. they offer seasonal options for a fun Friendsgiving with cranberry and Turkey additions, and veggie options too. lots of seating and catering offered, perfect for your and your group.

My favorite place to eat! My partner and I come here at least once a week because we know it will be consistent, fresh, healthy and delicious. The staff here is incredible. They are so friendly and quick to help. The manager is always so welcoming. The outside patio is so nice to sit at, the heaters are a nice addition if it's a bit chilly. We always look forward to coming back!

I love Mendocino farms when I'm in town but a special shout out to Eddie O. The service received was exceptional service I've received in a long time and he went above and beyond. Great recommendations and food as well!

11/10 recommended. I had a work lunch meeting today here at Mendocino farms and was absolutely blown away. There were only four of us but can see that we could likely easily get up to a party of 10 or 12 of us with no issue in the space here. Maybe more. Really loved everything about the food and the staff and the facility here. Even the parking lot was plentiful and the easy to navigate and get a great spot. Walking in from my second row. Parking place, the big menus and people waiting to take your order right away was just great and it made the decision-making experience super easy. Medium sized indoor space with probably around 40 places to sit (about a dozen tables) but also another medium-sized outdoor space with an equal amount of chairs and a bar space that was really comfortable to get up into a stool and sit at even as a big guy. I'd even like to highlight the bathrooms here with it being a gender-neutral bathroom on the left. Just pleasantly surprised all along with how clean and great everything was. Now let's talk about the food.... WOW. Today I ordered the half sandwich side dish combo with the turkey, bacon, avocado Club and curry couscous. I could not get enough and raved about the couscous to my coworkers. I got some of the passion iced tea here and fell in love. Paid me. Think about getting sun tea that mom made in the summertime with a little bit of fruit in it for just the right small amount of natural sweetness. As we wrapped up my work meeting I was thinking my wife would really love something here if I brought her home a dish. I ended up getting another half sandwich side dish combo to go as well with the Chicken pesto caprese sandwich, the curry couscous again, and a cup of the Lemon Chicken & Farro Soup. Even after almost an hour drive home, my wife raved about the meal. Right sized portions and incredible taste across the board. I'll plan on making this place one of my regular spots going forward. Always delicious, but this review is about the customer service. I accidentally ordered my food to a different location and Eddie went way out of his way to not only get me what I ordered, but fired it so it came up right away...and didn't charge me for it! I came for the food, but will definitely return for the excellent customer service.

Absolutely no regard for customers time or any sense of urgency to do their job. Online order was set for pickup ASAP (the time was set for 6:33pm). Coming to the restaurant at 6:29 I saw it was empty and hoped it would be ready early. they said they're still working on it. I didn't get the order until 6:47!! that's almost 15 minutes later than the promised time. there were 3-4 employees just standing around the kitchen not doing anything but chatting and looking around. no one was rushing to prepare anyone's order, dine-in included. Normally it wouldn't be such an issue but people's time is valuable. in this case we were trying to get dinner before going to the hospital, so to see a lack of care from the employees here was even more frustrating. this is the second time that's happened in one week. the previous order was lunch from the same location and wasn't delivered until 10 minutes after the promised time. the problem is the expectation set for a pick up time and then disregarded when there should be an accurate representation of the time needed to prepare an order.

The La Jolla location is notorious for preparing food late and on some level I'm use to it. I expect my food to be 10-15 minutes late because that's their norm. You can go in the morning, the food will not be ready at pick-up time. You can go at night, the food will not be ready at pick-up time. I just thought the manager couldn't tell time. However, yesterday my food was ready 30 minutes after my pick-up time. So, it took them 50 minutes to make a sandwich. I know it's not the kitchen staff's fault because the food was cold. Bottomline, if you want to add stress to your life, please choose this location.

Outside seating was pleasant since they have patio heaters which made the experience better, inside seating is very small and it gets crowded. The tables have a QR code that needs to be scanned so then you need to enter the number on the receipt, I suggest you keep your phone with you. We did wait for more than 15 minutes ffor a salad and a sandwich. The food is not worth the 15 minutes of waiting. It is a better alternative to fast food and maybe I'll give it another chance in the future.

Although I only tried the Cobb salad, it was an absolutely DELICOUS Cobb salad, and huge! I got it with the vegan ranch. I couldn't believe I ate the whole thing. Service was great, no issues. Casual ambiance, good for a quick bite or catch up with friends. In comparison to the exponential increase in food and eating out, prices here were absolutely reasonable. Will be back for that delicious salad.

This is truly ridiculous. I tend to like Mendocino farms because I find the quality and amount to be worth the value. I ordered a 1/2 sandwich and small side salad. The salad is smaller than my hand. The box isn't even full. This isn't a salad, this is the amount of lettuce that should've been on the sandwich. On what world is a half sandwich and this handful of greens worth 12$. Fingers for scale.

I'm writing this right away to warn others as it may be time-sensitive. There was a chunk of glass in my vegan bahn mi sandwich tonight 3/15/26. Glass must have broken near the ingredients for it to have made it in my sandwich. My boyfriend and I tried to call them numerous times to let them know but we couldn't get through to the restaurant. We were still in the area so we drove over quickly to let them know that there was glass in my sandwich and there is probably glass in their prep area. When we arrived, the manager on duty, Eddie O, greeted us and we let him know that there was a chunk of glass in my sandwich. He said " Glass? I don't know how that happened, we only have glass over here (motioning toward the beer tap section, which was away from the food prep section). What can we do about that? What would you guys like me to do about that?" I said "I guess a refund" and he said "Okay, was it just this one sandwich? I'll refund the whole order. You'll see the refund tomorrow, it doesn't go through right away. Is there anything else I can do?" and I said "maybe 'sorry about that'?" He said "Yeah of course sorry, I wouldn't want glass in my food. Is there anything else I can do for you guys?" I just said "no." His response was concerning to me since he is a manager and should be trained on how to handle situations like that. No apology offered until I asked for one, no refund offered until I asked for one, no immediate checking of the ingredients and prep station to ensure that no one else would potentially consume glass. My boyfriend and I have been coming here a couple times a week but we will not be returning. If you want a glass chunk in your sandwich followed by the manager not caring at all, Mendocino Farms La Jolla is your place.

I truly love their sandwiches. The "Not so Fried" sandwich is my favorite. Mendocino Farms makes it perfectly. The chicken is crispy but not greasy. When you dip it into the tangy mustard barbeque sauce, you will taste the most delightful flavor. Additionally, if you like pickled red onions and mustard pickle slaw, you'll really enjoy it in this sandwich. The texture, the flavor, and the crunch are everything.

I have been to other locations before but this location was really nice. My friends and I came here to find a study spot to lock in for our finals and we realized that this place had outlets! It was perfect because there were plenty of seats available and the food here was amazing (as usual). I got the Thai Mango Salad and although it was a little pricier, I thought it was pretty worth it. The sauce was sweet with a sprinkle of tanginess. The addition of peanuts and cilantro really ties together the salad. Being in the same plaza as the Melt, I thought this place would take TritonCash but they do not.

Mendocino Farms is a great spot for a casual lunch with a variety of sandwiches, soups and salads. The menu accommodates gluten free, vegan and vegetarian diets. The wait is sometimes long for to go orders but overall this is a solid consistent restaurant with fresh ingredients and unique flavor combinations. Portion sizes for the sides are a little small relative to the price.

If I could, I would put 0 stars due to my multiple bad experiences at this store. I wanted to modify an online order I placed and when I called, the manager stylar on the shift had told me "you should have placed the order right the first time". I then showed up to pick up my order and saw the manager outside vaping!!! Extremely unprofessional. She then walked in (an hour later) and spoke in a very condescending and disrespectful manner to the employees that I would not expect from a manager.

Food was excellent! The not so fried chicken and buffalo wrap was amazing. Also the service from Brandon was the best!

Edit: order was 51 minutes late, which is unacceptable. But they refunded the order and further made it right.

I'm definitely not big on typical sandwiches being raised on a lot of home cooked meals. However, I do enjoy a warm sandwich made with "home cooked elements". This is my second visit to a Mendocino farms. The location is simply decorated with indoor and outdoor seating. I attended with my husband and friend. He ordered the pork bahn mi, I ordered the chimichurri steak sandwich and our friend ordered a chicken pesto sandwich. All are made fresh to order and honestly looked delicious as each of us unwrapped them. Service was great from the cashier to the employees calling our order names and handing them over to those dining in and with to go orders.

Came here for lunch; I ordered the 1/2 sandwich combo that includes a half of a select menu of sandwiches and a side. I chose the turkey avo salsa verde sandwich and the seasonal chickpea salad. The portion sizes for both are filling. I do wish there was more turkey in the sandwich and the kale in the chickpea salad seemed very wilt-y, like it wasn't made fresh that morning. Location is in a busy strip mall but lots of parking. There is inside and outside seating as well.

A great location of MF. Nice inside and out. Great staff. Efficient service. Mama Chen's salad did not disappoint!

Terrible service. Ordered at 8am for an 11:45 pickup and didn't get my food before 12:15. Forced to tip upfront on ordering. makes sense since no one in their right mind would tip after having to wait 30 mins extra. Inquired about how to make sure the order was more on time for next time and they answered with "you can't, just have to wait." Poorly run. Update: after the poor experience the manager made a point of calling me back, and remedied the situation, looking forward to trying the place again.

Love it here. Great for when you want a healthier option for fast food. I highly recommend the thai mango salad. I'm not much of a "fruit in my salad" type of person, but whewww.. They do it right! For those with kiddos, swing by on Thursdays and take advantage of the free kid's meal (with purchase of an adult entree). Decent amount of indoor and outdoor seats. Service is always on point.

The food was great and the service was amazing. Friendly staff, Fellipe, who helped me decide on the chimichurri steak and Joselyn, who brought me my food. (Thought I was going to have to go get it lol). As well as the whole staff who made my incredibly tasty sandwich. The prices are also very resonable. Which kinda suprised me with how nice the place was. The only thing i though they got me on was the drink, but once I realized there was freshly squeezed vegetable juice, I was sold. Very much reccomeneded if you need some clean food with out sacrificing taste.

Stopped in for a quick lunch break while in La Jolla, located in the village and very convenient with plenty of parking in front and many other shops and restaurants around. pleasant atmosphere with both indoor or outdoor seating and complimentary water, clean restrooms and kind service. the flavor is consistent and portions respectable. nothing very exiting but you know what you get. they have their regular go to items along with a small seasonal or a changing menu for an added variety.

This place is such an easy choice for lunch especially when you have a group of people ordering! Warning: if you decide to order around lunch time via DoorDash, expect to wait 1.5 hours for your lunch esp if it's a big order. I got the Sweet Heat Crispy Thai Chicken sandwich. It was sweet, had a little spice and the brioche was perfectly soft. It was a small sandwich so it wasn't that filling. The side of chips helped satisfy my hunger. Would order again!

I would give this place a 3.5/5 stars but since that isn't an option I'm rounding up to 4. Mendocino farms is most well known for their sandwiches and I tried two. I tried the chicken parm dip and Peruvian steak sandwiches. They were both good. They filled me up and I felt good after eating as they used pretty fresh ingredients. Would I come back? I don't think so. There's nothing about the sandwiches that "wowed" me. If anything, the interior of the restaurant was more impressive than the food. Other than that, the staff is really friendly and helped me pick out a sandwich based on my preferences. I recommend coming if you're looking for something quick and tasty.

The bread is carefully chosen to match the fillings, enhancing the overall harmony. I thoroughly enjoyed the Farm's Club sandwich. Service: The staff are very friendly and quick. They introduce the various options available before taking your order and give you plenty of time to decide. Ambiance: The store was clean and pleasant. It wasn't noisy at all.

I love going here. My husband and I usually split a salad and a sandwich. The chimichurri steak & bacon sandwich is SO good! This summer I've been obsessed with the Sweet Peach & Goat Cheese Salad. (Mendo PR Team, if you're reading this, please keep this salad on the regular menu bc it was a summer seasonal hit!) The food is consistently great. You order at the counter and then find a seat. I love places like this for bigger groups. The staff is always friendly and my order has always been correct. What's not to love about tasty and fresh food?

Amazing food and great ambient. I am so said they removed the pork belly bahmi sandwich, but still great options in the menu. One of the employee Felipe T. was really helpful and made the experience even better

Great sandwiches. Great quality sandwiches. This location gets packed during lunch time. Took about 30 minutes before I got my food. Everyone that works around here comes here for lunch. Makes it quite busy. Recommend ordering online and picking up when it's super busy!

This place is so slow! Food is great so I guess it's worth the wait. Tons of employees standing around not preparing food.

I ordered the Roast Beef sandwich. It was my first visit and I wasn't familiar with how to order but once I figured it out (no one asked if I needed help) all went okay. The sandwich wasn't as good as I'd expected it to be but the Kale salad was delicious! I probably won't return. Not a bad spot just didn't suit my taste buds.

My company ordered some food for delivery and since I've gotten their sandwiches before (which are always delicious), I decided to try a salad this time and I was not disappointed! I got the Pink Lady Beets & Goat Cheese Salad with no red onions. Since I don't like any salad dressings, it is very important to me that I have quality ingredients and good flavor when I order a salad. This did not disappoint at all! t was packed full of flavor and all the ingredients paired very nicely together. I was very happy with my choice. This place always delivers quality ingredients and food. It proves that healthy food can also taste good! Can't wait to stop by and try another new thing next time!

Came here on a Saturday. There was a line but it went quickly. There was both indoor and outdoor seating and the air was nice and cold indoors (it was a hot day). We ordered the kids cheddar quesadilla which was free because kidlet had a coupon from the library's summer reading program. It came with apples and a drink. I ordered the half turkey avocado salsa verde with the oaxacan potato salad. My husband ordered a sandwich that had peaches on it but when he went to bite into it, it had almonds so he just returned it rather than get a different sandwich. They were nice about the return. For drinks we tried the regular lemonade which was ok. That is what my husband drank. I drank the rose lemonade. I believe my husband tried tried the green drink but none of us tried the one with turmeric. Overall my sandwich was ok. It tasted fresh and dood but wasn't anything amazing. The potato salad was just bland. Kidlet did not like their cheese quesadilla and my husband tried it and agrees the taste was not good. It legit just looked like they put cheddar cheese slices on a tortilla. The apples tasted weird too. Am glad this meal was free. Overall a mediocre experience. I don't feel there is a good value for the money. The food is probably fresher and healthier than other options but not a place I will be able to convince my family to go to again. If I am alone and come here I want to try a salad.

This was my first time here and I will be back. I had the happy hippie on gluten free and it was fantastic. Lots of veggies in there and the bread was perfectly toasted. I had a side of potato salad that was the best potato salad I've had in years, along with one of the lemonades. I have a list of places I try to go to when I'm in SD and this is going on the list.

Great food and drink selection! The chicken parm and potato salad was amazing and the pomegranate mint drink was great as well! Corrin went above and beyond to help and was very friendly! The cookies were the bomb as well as the bbq chips. Super fresh and tasty food honestly can't go wrong here

Outstanding job, as always, by Catering, and Victoria, one of the Catering Specialists, and the entire Mendocino Farms Team in La Jolla! Thank you ever so much for our favorite Salads provided, Avo and Quinoa, Spiced Curry Couscous, Mama Chens, and the Modern Caesar! Keep up the great work, and we order from you every week to two weeks for our Office! Sandwiches are equally fantastic!

Visiting San Diego again and stopped into Mendocino Farms. They were very busy and looked like they were overdue for some take out orders with a lot of people waiting where the food comes up. Just wanted to leave a positive review because the staff were working very hard and were still so friendly. I even saw a manager Andy who was here the last time I visited going around taking care of those that were waiting. All with a smile. Working in the customer service industry you don't see people get enough recognition for the hard work they do even through the more difficult times. I feel someone should know. I'll be back next time I'm in town!

Eddie and his crew make amazing sandwiches and provide amazing customer service! We weren't sure what we wanted to get so we kind of came in and let eddie the manager pick for us. We approached him and he was super cool and came up to our table, and it gave one of a time service. Very personable. And we will definitely be back!!!

On a busy Friday night, first time to this location and their dining room was trash d by prior patrons. Eddie was a great host and was doing his best to keep the facilities clear and clean. This kind of set up will never be a five star afair, but the staff were on it and the food met my expectations. Would return - but don't expect a perfectly clean dining room on a Friday. The other guests here were rude (asking for my group to leave while we were still eating!!) and dirty. Props to staff for keeping it up as best as they could.
