Mendocino Farms

One of my favorite places for fresh salads and sandwiches. This location in downtown is so easy to get to so there’s no excuse to not eat fresh food. I like this location because it’s big and easy to get to and on a very main street. I would recommend getting the Thai mango salad. My favorite of all time.

One of the best sandwich shops in downtown San Diego. Located off Broadway in the “courts” area of downtown, usually busy around the lunch rush. I don’t live or work near here, but make sure to go out of my way and eat here since it is so good. Sandwiches and salads are light and super fresh! Lately, been bringing my computer and staying for a few hours to get work done. Great environment for that!

Our first time at this location and it will be a one and done visit. Cashier was very unfriendly during our ordering process. They did not call out the name when the food was ready. Why print the customers name on the order if they're not going to call it out. They have a rather large seating area however many of the tables were covered with what I assume was a large catering order, so seating was limited because of that. The November sandwich special was really good and we split a cesar salad. There were an enormous amount of large flies while we dined inside, they leave the front doors open which doesn't help. If they're flying around while we eat they must be flying around while food is being prepped.

Great to see they have vegan options on the menu. I tried the Vegan Bahn Mi which used tofu as the protein and the Impossible Salad which was fantastic. The service was really good, they bring the food to your table once you have ordered using a QR code. Didn’t realize they had house made lemonades until we were leaving, will try it next time. Would dine here again!

The Peruvian Steak was excellent. I recommend the avocado addition, it cuts the spice level down. Restaurant moves pretty quick, dine in or take out. If you choose to stay they bring the food directly to where you’re sitting. They also have adult beverages to choose from.

This place has seriously gone downhill. 10+ years ago I started going to mendo in LA. Back then there used to be someone at the cash register and tons of other people working. Today I stood at the register waiting for someone to acknowledge my presence and take my order. 10 min standing there and finally someone came to take my order. Did not feel welcomed and seems like they’re pushing for online orders. It took 24 min for my sandwich to be made after placing the order. Food scattered in different containers along the counter top. 3 people working and 7 people patiently waiting for their orders. Trash piled up around the trash bin. Plates on the table tops. What a disgusting place. Do better.

Delicious and filling salads! The Mama Chen’s salad and avocado quinoa salads were both loaded and they make the meats in store. The chicken was tender and dressing flavors unique. Staff and the manager were incredibly kind and helpful. Sit-down quality service and taste with fast-casual speed and price! Highly recommend!

My new favorite sandwich shop. Not even kidding! Picked up sandwiches from here for a beach picnic with some friends and everyone loved the food! I built a custom: Potato Hoagie Brioche Roll, Roasted Turkey, Fresh Mozzarella, Daikon & Carrots, Mixed Greens, Pickled Onions, Tangy Mustard BBQ Sauce, Jalapeno Salsa Verde (on the side) Okay not even kidding, I could have this same sandwich for lunch every day of the week! It was so freaking good! A large amount of turkey, the freshest mozzarella ever and so much of it as well. Perfectly Panini-toasted. No words here. It didn't even need any of the sauces. Husband got the Sweet Heat Crispy Thai Chicken and loved it. It was like a giant burger and a very indulgent. Friends got the ½ Chicken Pesto Caprese and Vegetarian Pesto Caprese Sandwich, and both of them like them. Appreciated the freshness as well. Also finished both the Basil Pesto Shells and Creamy Potato Leek Soup on the side.

Food was quick, and fresh. Service was nice, you order at the counter they bring you you're food but you take care of your table at the end. The bathroom is not connected to the restaurant you have to walk to the next spot over and put a door code in twice. Ambiance was nice, this spot reminds me of a Panera but the food is much better. I really found the prices surprisingly low for the quality and quantity Will be coming back

The Pluribus casting director is missing its actors, as they all work at the downtown SD mendo location now! Literal zombies just walking around doing their jobs with zero facial expressions or eye contact, smiles, greetings, nothing- not even from the manager! How depressing! First ones in the place at 10am opening, ordered two wraps that took over 20 minutes as the cast focused solely on catering orders. A group of guys who ordered after us received their food first... The staff also covered half the tables with catering orders so there was no where to even sit and wait without "getting in their way"- I'm not kidding when I felt like I was on the set of Pluribus! Why open to regular customers at 10am if your clear and only focus is catering? Not to mention, the $6 wrap they sold was utterly disgusting. I couldn't even finish half of it, and was straight to the toilet not even an hour later. Gross. So I got food poisoning to boot. Never coming back here again.

I was craving some healthy food so we ordered to-go through Door Dash and did the Pick up option. Parking- there's a parking lot down the street but no street parking. The best to get here is by foot or public transportation. Food- 4/5 Avocado & Quinoa Superfood Ensalada. I added tofu to it and asked to have no romaine and tomatoes. They still added the tomatoes which was a bummer for such a pricey salad. Otherwise, it was such a refreshing salad with the perfect crunch in every bite. Chipotle dressing was good and unique. 4/5- Happy Hippie Sandwich- I ordered this for dinner to eat later but snuck a few bites since the presentation of it was too tempting. The colors of all the different ingredients had me drooling. 4/5- Farm Club- also packed full of flavor. Service- I thought I had ordered with plenty of time but at 2 PM on a Thursday it seems like there were shift changes happening right then so our order got delayed a bit which made it tricky for the parking situation. Cleanliness- the store looked clean, free from debris and had an open vibe to it. Overall, I'm happy with our food even though the parking was difficult and the service was a tad slower. I wish they would get another location in the South Bay!

Great place for lunch. The place is breezy, bright, and refreshing, just like their sandwiches and salads. I love their Fall seasonal sandwich with the turkey and cranberry so decided to try their Summer one. It's a peach prosciutto mozzarella sandwich on a sesame bread, and it did not disappoint! Who knew peach on a sandwich would be this amazing. Definitely a 10/10. The only thing I wish is that they offered it as part of their half sandwich and half side combo. Another cool thing about this location is that they bring your food to you after ordering at the counter. Just pick a place you want to sit, and scan the QR code on the table and add your order number. Plenty of seating inside and out too.

Sadie went above and beyond the call to make sure we enjoyed our first experience - the saying, "Eat Happy!" as their by-line was well met. She held our meals and made sure our drinks were fresh and re-did our order to our satisfaction (took responsibility for the lateness of the correction) did everything with a smile. We certainly "Ate Happy!"

Again a winner. Just before headed to the train stating to board the train to L.A., I fortunately passed by Mendocino Farms to grab a takeout for the trip. Perfect sandwich, tasty, juicy. Wonderful. PREVIOUS REVIEW: With franchises in many places, it took me to go to San Diego to finally check one out. Hectic day, still some work to do on the computer, I chose to go there as it was in close proximity to the hotel. I elected not to preorder on the phone, but to old-fahsioned talk to the staff. The gentleman was super friendly and made good suggestions about the choices. The Thai curry squash soup was a wonderful start as was the Swee heat crispy Thai Chicken for main. The potions could be a touch larger, but overall, I was very pleased.

Yummy sandwich. Mendocino never disappoints. Got it via doordash. Steak sandwich came nicely packed. Clean. Not greasy. Easy eat. Also came with napkins, thoughtful! Steak nicely cooked. No overly strong flavor. Overall a great sandwich. Worth the $18 bucks + delivery fee? I'll leave that up to you!

The sandos and salads are BOMB here! I've been to both this location and the one in La Jolla/UTC. I love the prosciutto peach sandwich!!! It's a 10/10. My boyfriend loves the steak sandwich which was also FIREEEEEE the goat cheese beet salad is also very good. The service is good and quick. The ambiance is crispy and clean (not what I would expect for being downtown. They do a good job of keeping it clean).

Underrated Affordable. Delicious. Refreshing. Portions are hefty. I'm surprised this place isn't packed more often. Regardless, when I'm in need of a nutritious meal I know where to go. I'd like to keep this a secret though, so I'm already breaking my rule by reviewing. Oh well.

We went to Mendocino Farms located on Broadway Ave in Downtown, San Diego. This was my second time dining at this location. My husband and I, ordered the Mendo's Original Pork Belly Banh Mi and the Chicken Parm sándwich and both were outstanding!! I give these two sandwiches a 5/5 so good!! We enjoyed the fountain station with different fruit drink options such as; Pomegranate Mint Lemonade, Get Your Greens agua fresca, Pineapple Tajín Lemonade, Passion Fruit black tea and regular lemonade. My favorite drink was the Pomegranate Mint Lemonade. The service was okay and the restaurant had plenty of seating and was clean. I definitely recommend this restaurant! Happy Yelping :-)

My whole family loves Mendocino farms, it's like when we're out and about don't know what to eat but want something fresh. This is the spot for it! The impossible taco salad is bomb, love the dressing. The mango Thai salad , delicious. The Bahn mi sandwich absolutely tasty. Great place to sit outside enjoy the sun or inside and enjoy the ac. Service is always great at this location, I've never had an issues out of the tons of times I've been. Pick anything off the menu you won't be disappointed

I always come here whether its by myself or with my colleagues for lunch. Staff is always friendly and will fix what you need quickly if theres an issue. Thank you!

Mendocino has always been a good healthy menu'd restaurant. The decorations feel fresh, environment is very welcoming a feels good. The staff is friendly and helpful. I got one of my go to's the impossible taco salad. Love love it! Tasty and filling!

Delicious food options and a nice clean place to sit, relax and dine. Service is always excellent and their staff are welcoming. Never a bad decision to grab a meal here.

I was visiting a friend for lunch. I wish we had these in Florida. It is so hard to find a good gluten free fast casual option. The service was great and they helped me decide on which entree I should have. The gluten free bread was so good! It was a nice place to sit and catch up with a friend. Didn't feel rushed at all.

The "Avocado & Quinoa Superfood Ensalad" salad is delicious, light yet still filling, and at a reasonable price.

This was my go-to place to celebrate finishing finals while at UCSD. Several tasty sandwiches with unique sides that really encourage you to try something new instead of the old burger and fries combo. I've always been served quickly and I enjoy sitting outside on the nicer days. They have refreshing decorations and it's a nice cheaper date spot.

Wow this is my first time actually coming in and ordering from here. That Cesar salad was amazing - it's not your typical Cesar too- I love those crunchy superfood things on it and the dressing was just right. My daughter loved the chicken sandwich. I will def come back here again. Food was so fresh!

Mendocino is my new favorite spot for gourmet food, specifically sandwiches and salads and I love that they have several locations, and the menu changes based on seasonal ingredients. This is my first time visiting this location and I got sandwiches and salads for take out: Vegan Banh Mi, Peruvian Steak, Medium Dan Dan Noodle Salad and Medium Kale & Apple Rainbow Salad. I love how the bread is always made fresh, soft, and fluffy, are made with fresh ingredients, and flavorful (rather than salty). I came here for lunch and they were kinda busy, but my food was ready in less than 15 minutes. The place was clean, bright, and comfortable seats in case you are looking at hanging out here much longer after eating. They have a good wifi connection too.

I was looking for a very quick and easy place for lunch and the front desk clerk said Mendocino Farms was really good and about a 15 minute walk from the Manchester Grand Hyatt. It was a nice stroll and when I got to the restaurant it was very clean which was great to see. Almost like they just opened this location. From what I can tell you get a lot of the people who work downtown that get lunch here. They had a lot of to go orders. I got the Italian roast beef minus the cheese aioli. After you place your order you sit down at a table and scan the QR code with your receipt number on it , so they know where to deliver your sandwich or salad. The sandwich had a nice sweet taste from the relish that was on it. Would definitely recommend for a quick bite to eat.

After arriving in San Diego for a conference on a Sunday, I found there weren't too many food locations open around 3. Fortunately, this establishment was open so I gave it a shot. There was a fair amount of seating and the place was clean. I was greeted immediately and ordered the Peruvian Steak. I received the food fairly quickly and was presently surprised. At first, when receiving the order I thought it was a small sandwich. But after finishing it, it definitely filled me up. Very delicious! Moving forward, knowing this is a chain I'll definitely be visiting trying out the ones closer to my home base.

You know what sucks? Jury duty. You know what doesn't suck? Getting a 2 hour lunch break to leisurely dine at Mendocino Farms. Maybe the 2 hours was slight overkill, but thankfully, the Mendocino Farms had a spot for me to charge up my laptop and get some work done over a delicious meal. They are pretty busy so it can take time to get your order. I love Mendocino Farms. The cous cous is just my absolute favorite, but I also love the not so fried chicken sandwich and the tofu bahn mi. Mendocino makes you feel good after you've eaten it which is the best part. Delicious fresh meals for a reasonable price.

Delicious and fresh. I had the pesto 1/2 sandwich and the lemon chicken soup with farro. It was delicious. Very consistent quality and the service is fantastic.

Great spot to grab a quick lunch in downtown! Be careful of weekday lunch rushes but I do recommend ordering ahead of time for pick up. Workers are always so nice and the food is great! Lots of sandwhich and bowl choices to choose from.

All their salad dressings have GMO canola oil, so I sadly opted for a "dressing" of salt and pepper on my salad. For a place that touts "health food" eatery with its earthy decor, it's far from it. I got the Avocado & Quinoa Superfood Ensalada, and I will admit, the shaved chicken (+$3.50) was absolutely amazing, and surprised me with how juicy and soft it was. The greens (romaine and kale) were also fresh, and I appreciated that when I asked for no black beans, but I really wanted the jicama and didn't realize it was a pre-made mix of succotash, the manager came over to my table and gave me a complimentary side of the succotash so I could pick out just the jicama and still get it. That's what I call good service! Besides the chicken and jicama, the salad was quite bland (and for $20? Ugh) so please add some EVOO dressings /alternative vinegar based ones and I would return!

This was probably one of the best sandwiches I've ever had in my entire existence. It's definitely giving thanksgiving in a sandwich. The flavors are completely balanced. This is my first time here and I will definitely be coming back to try all the different sandwiches that are offered. I also got the guava lemonade and it's delicious. 10 out of 10 highly recommend! Good job to whoever created this place .

Very slow service. I get this location gets a lot of DoorDash orders, but everyone behind the counter moves in slow motion. Hard to come here and grab lunch if you're working nearby unless you've got a long time to wait.

Used to be consistently amazing and yummy but the quality has gone down in the past couple years The number of times I get limp lettuce, soft sour tomatoes, or my order is missing add ins I pay extra for (ie chicken) is extremely frustrating For a 20$ salad it's not really worth the price given the inconsistencies. Sandwiches are a bit better but still pricey

I have been to this location twice and always get Mama Chen's Chinese Chicken Salad. This location has indoor and outdoor seating and is kept clean. Sunday night here wasn't too busy as far as sit down orders, but the employees were working hard to get the online orders done. Food and service were good.

Never get tried of Mendocino, they have great customer service, and the food is ways delicious. Not so fried chicken is my favorite and their 3 different lemonade selection never disappoints. I have never experience or seen any uncleanliness and the environment varies on the day of the week, but it is usually busy but relaxed.

If you're ordering lunch during the week, order online and make your pick up before 11am. Yes, that is correct, before 11 am! This place is very popular during the workday which means the food is delicious here from the burgers, salads, drinks and chocolate chip cookie. There is seating inside and outside but both areas get crowded during the week. There is a dedicated bathroom that is very clean, ask the staff for the code and directions. The food is good here and on a busy day have patience. The impossible burgers and salads are excellent here! The drinks are delicious and you get free refills. Service:5/5 Quality:5/5 Menu:5/5 Group friendly:3/5 Kid friendly:5/5 I recommend using the app to order one hour ahead during the weekdays. The weekend are not crowded here but still tasty! The food sells itself.

Absolutely love the fresh and healthy food options that they offer! We got the potato leak soup, pesto caprese sandwich and pesto pasta side. Everything was delicious!!

I came in for lunch. It wasn't too busy inside but they were making a ton of pick up orders. I ordered the Philly shroomsteak. It didn't take too long to get my order. The shroomsteak was pretty tasty. I think meat eaters might even enjoy it.

I was staying in downtown San Diego for a convention and needed something to have in the room to eat for dinner later since I wanted to watch a hockey game. I figured once I got back to my hotel, the last thing I'd want to do is either get dressed and head out to a restaurant, or wait a long time for delivery. I decided to pick up a sandwich at Mendocino Farms to take back to the hotel with me. I arrived around 1:30, prime lunch time. There was a crowd of people hovering around the menu board, and I made eye contact with the friendly cashier, Gabrielle. She asked if I was ready and waved me over. So kind, thoughtful, and observant of her! She cheerfully took my order and was very helpful with the menu. I opted for a half sandwich and side, which was reasonably priced at $11. I got the chicken pesto caprese sandwich and the curried couscous. Although the restaurant didn't feel packed, it took a while for the staff to prepare my to-go order. That, to me, signalled that my food was being made fresh to order and with care. I got back to the hotel and put my takeout bag in the in-room refrigerator, then opened it up to eat about 6 hours later. The sandwich and side held up very well! My sandwich was a little soggy in the corners, but it was no big deal. I had no heat source so I ate it cold, and it was delicious! The ciabatta was flavorful with a nice salty, herbed crust. There was an ample portion of sliced chicken and fresh mozzarella cheese. Greens and delicious marinated red peppers were added as condiments. It was a great combination of ingredients that tasted great together. The curried couscous was the absolute star! Slightly toothsome, it had a strong curry flavor that was a bit spicy. I LOVED it. I wish I had opted to pay an extra $1 to get the larger size because it was so tasty. Note that the small size was a very generous portion, especially for the price. Best of all, I didn't feel gross after eating this meal. It felt healthy and fresh, and was surprisingly filling (and I am a pretty big eater). I sat in the room with my gourmet takeout and watched an NHL game where my hockey team won. It was the perfect way to unwind after a busy day.

First off the staff was phenomenal! Super friendly. I ordered the Peruvian Steak Sandwich...super flavorful with a slick spicy finish. It was so good I went back and got another! Add this place to my "must haves" and recommend you try it out as well.

Went back to this place twice in three days! I tried their avocado and quinoa salad, as well as the Happy Hippy Sandwich. Both were amazing, especially the sandwich, really gave the "wow" factor. I LOVE that they don't skimp on ingredients -- seeing those huge chunks of avocado made the experience better. Oh, and service was also incredible. Lots of seating options both indoors and outdoors. Will definitely return!

My visit to this location today was beyond disappointing. We stood at the register for nearly five minutes before anyone greeted us. Even though there was staff standing six feet away from us. Our food took over twenty minutes and after realizing it was sitting at the pass for almost five minutes I went to check on the status. I was then told that it will be a few more minutes. Five minutes later the same food that had been sitting in the pass for now ten minutes was finally delivered to our table. The food quality was not at the level we have come to expect from Mendocino Farms. I ordered the potato salad and it was very runny and resembled a two day old tuna salad. When I took it back to the kitchen I asked if it was suppose to look like this and the employee told me "No, that does not look right." There were two other guests in the restaurant and our friend's food was delivered to the only other table in the restaurant. They waited over 35 minutes in total for their food as it had to be remade. This experience was simply a joke, a waste of money and time. The staff here needs a lot of training and the quality control needs a major revue. What we experienced today was not nearly close to the standards of Mendocino farms.

SHOUTOUT TO THE DOWNTOWN STAFF FOR BEING SO FREAKING AWESOME! You guys already know from my previous review how much I love Mendocino, but I truly truly truly appreciate the staff at the Downtown location. Mendocino is always my go-to place for lunch especially for staff and client meetings. My boss told me we had a big client coming in at 11 and I was like CRAP what do I do?!!? I called Mendo around 10:30 and gave them my order. The originally quoted me around 1130 bc they had multiple orders ahead of me but I had asked politely for as soon as possible and boy did they deliver!!! I arrived at 11:05 and it was ready and I was able to run back to the office and get the lunch ready in time before our client arrived. He was super impressed with everything I ordered. THANK YOU BROADWAY STAFF FOR SAVING ME!

I appreciate that I don't have to walk through the whole shopping center to get here. Parking can be a hassle in this area, but usually not too bad of a problem. We came here for a lunch break and it was not crowded at all. The food is prepared nicely and the ingredients taste fresh. I usually get the chimichurri steak, and it is yummy! So much flavor! The place is casual, so you get your food brought to your table on a tray. The place is clean and quiet. Nice spot to unwind after a day of shopping or before heading back to the office.

Wanted something on the lighter side for dinner while traveling - I wish we had this place in Arizona! The avocado & quinoa superfood ensalada was wonderful. The avocado was plentiful, at peak ripeness, and plated beautifully. Then there was the most satisfying crunch thanks to the housemade "superfood crunchies". If they sold bags of these, I'd give up croutons forever. The dressing was flavorful and just the right amount - I do feel like the salt level could be reduced slightly. Actually the proportions of ingredients were also just right across the board - greens, corn, beans, cheese, etc. There were a few Spindrift sparkling water flavors to choose from - perfect. In addition, the cashier and person who brought the food to the table were so friendly!

The front counter girl was a gem. She was so welcoming, bubbly and genuine. I'm already a fan of this place, but she made me actually feel welcomed, which sadly has been rare to see lately. Please give her a raise. The food as usual was scrumptious and of course the lemonade was delicious!

Mendocino Farms might be my favorite "healthy chain" food spot. Quick, fresh, filling and delicious. I go to Mendocino for the curried cous cous alone. Perfect, bursting texture with the right amount of sweet, savory, and spice. However, this 5 star review is for Kristina from the downtown San Diego location. She greeted us with such warmth and positivity. My family had a lot of questions and special food requests. And Kristina was so understanding and accommodating. We stayed past the 7:30pm closing time, and Kristina encouraged of us to take our sweet time as she cleaned up around us. And she even continued to check in on us to make sure everything was to our liking after closing too! It's having employees like Kristina that make a great restaurant, an exceptional one. Mendocino Farms, you have an incredible employee in Kristina!

I had the farmfresh club with mayo and mustard, minus onions. It was incredibly delicious! The restaurant itself has a nice ambiance with both indoor and outdoor seating. The servers were helpful and attentive.

"Victor" the manager is an asshole. I asked for direction to the restroom and he withheld the code to the door. I went back and asked again (thinking I hadn't found the correct door) and again he gave the same directions. Then I asked for the code. He thought it was funny. I will NOT go back.

Always eat here it is my go to for fresh and healthy food options! Staff is always amazing and helpful every time my family and I go!
