The 11 Best Hidden Bars & Speakeasies In Houston - Houston - The Infatuation

"If all you care about is discovering hidden restaurant entrances, then Meo Bar in The Heights is a fun night out. To get into the somewhat secret Vietnamese spot, look for the tiny framed kitten portrait for the push-button entrance, and make sure to avoid leaning on the giant yellow lucky cat—the wall won’t open. And while the food and drinks here won’t stun anyone into a vow of speakeasy silence, the phở -flavored beef carpaccio and fruit-forward cocktails work as a pre-game springboard into a longer night out." - gianni greene, chelsea thomas

Mèo Bar - Review - The Heights - Houston - The Infatuation

"Those who subscribe to the adage, “It’s not the destination. It’s the journey,” will love Meo Bar. This Heights cocktail bar and Vietnamese restaurant is less about good food and drinks and more about the hunt for the speakeasy's secret entrance. Hidden inside of Wokker, Meo Bar is more style than substance. The push-button entrance disguised as a framed kitten portrait is momentarily deceiving. And hanging out anywhere semi-secret, especially when it's windowless and lit by giant koi fish lanterns, can feel like winning the coolest kid at school award. Meo Bar is worth it if discovering secret spots is what you live for. However, the cocktails and food don’t offer the same level of satisfaction. Nothing here tastes bad, it’s just that the menu isn’t as interesting as the speakeasy entrance. Besides the surprising phở flavors of the beef carpaccio appetizer, everything else on the menu looks and tastes like middle-of-the-road Vietnamese food. Like the somewhat bland bò lúc lắc with undercooked bell pepper or a pile of gummy bánh cuốn chiên. Good, but not tasty enough to warrant the National Treasure hunt. If all you care about is discovering secret entrances and less about flavor, then Meo Bar is the move. It’s a great springboard to a night out, or if you live nearby and only have 45 minutes for dinner because the babysitter arrived late. But if you want excitement with great food, try one of Houston’s other fun restaurants instead. photo credit: Meo Bar photo credit: Meo Bar Food Rundown Cocktails Besides the silly, pun-heavy names—Ban-anarchy, Herb Your Enthusiasm, Keep Calm And Lemongrass On—most of the cocktails are forgettable. Each one tastes like a bland lemonade with a suggestion of herbs or other flavors. They’re fine if you just want something sippable and easy. Pho Carpaccio (Bò Tái Chanh) Out of everything here, this tastes the best. The beef and arugula taste exactly like a bowl of pho, thanks to the intense aromatics and seasoning. Meo Bar should never take this off the menu. Spicy Rice Rolls (Bánh Cuốn Chiên) These resemble fried rice dumplings with sticky tamarind sauce. And while fried food usually tastes great if not satisfying from the crunch, this version tastes gummy and one-note. If you just need something filling, these will do. Shaken Beef (Bò Lúc Lắc) This dish tastes fine, mostly because sauteed tenderloin and sauteed onions taste good with little intervention. But because this is a speakeasy, we expect something a little more fun, especially for $20. Crispy Pork Belly (Heo Quay) The pork is not crispy. So, please excuse us while we take a moment of silence." - Chelsea Thomas

15 Houston Speakeasies to Spice Up Your Night

"Head into the bright Tex-Asian restaurant Wokker, spot cowboy-hat-wearing money cat and lift up the nearby framed kitty portrait to reveal a doorbell. Press the button, and enter a world of moody mystery, mirrors, and hand-crafted cocktails, including a refreshing tomato water martini and a lychee gimlet. Light bites, including dumplings and dim sum-inspired dishes, are also available to order if you work up an appetite." - Brittany Britto Garley, Kayla Stewart

Started with the pho carpaccio, love the tossed arugula on top. The egg rolls were the crispiest I've ever had, very good! The dumplings were also a fun appetizer, served in a sizzling hot bowl. The kimchi isn't too spicy which I really appreciate. Thoroughly enjoyed one of my favorite Vietnamese dishes, the shaken beef. The rice in all the dishes is perfection!! My husband enjoyed his chicken fried rice. We both had two lovely cocktails, my favorite the lychee martini. Would definitely recommend for somewhere delicious and not uppity!

Google
Wonderful experience! Prefect atmosphere, not over crowded when we were there. All drinks are great and food is awesome. Will definitely return again! Our new favorite place to go! The pork belly fried rice was amazing, we cleaned every plates we ordered!

Google
This place is worth it just for the atmosphere. They also have a lot of different, prettily decorated, cocktails (though I just had coke.) We only had appetizers: kimchi butter dumplings, carpaccio, and egg rolls, and the food was pretty good. We ordered 4 different appetizers, 3 cocktails, and a coke and the bill was $80. I cannot vouch for any of the entree's. However, I would go back.

Love the place! If you’re looking for a nice place for a date this is it. I ordered the pork belly, egg rolls, shaking beef and the shrimp skewers. The pork belly was definitely everyone’s favorite!

Google
We really enjoyed our visit at Meo Bar! The atmosphere was fantastic, with decorative walls and a candle light on the table. The secret door was a great idea and it really gave a fun vibe to the place. We visited during the happy hours and we ordered three appetizers— fried okra, spicy rice rolls, and shrimp skewers. The spicy rice rolls and shrimp skewers were delicious. The sauce that came with the shrimp was really tasty, and we loved the spicy rice rolls. It could become a really good drinking snack. We were fine with the okra, something about the sauce we were just not a fan of. For entrees we ordered the crispy pork belly and the pork belly fried rice. We really loved the fried rice, the flavor was there, the pork belly in the fried rice was tender. It was coated in a tangy savory sauce, and we thought it might be yummier than the crispy pork belly entree. The crispy pork belly was okay. The drinks though, were probably our favorite items of the night. Highly recommend the pandam. It came in a cute cat cup. The toasted rice milk really popped up and went well with the coconut cream and citrus flavors infused into the rum. You got a small hint of pandan at the end. We also got the lychee to the limit from the HH menu, which was surprisingly not too sweet and, heavily spiced. Unlike other lychee cocktails you usually have from other places.

Google
I been there around three times around noon time and it's okay. Service is great and coffee for the new lunch menu is on point. Food left me wanting a bit more. Shaken beef was overly salty and the bo tai wasn't seasoned well. Not the worst spot for the area but mainly go there for the drinks over the food

Google
One of the best iced viet coffees I’ve had! It was perfect not too sweet not too strong just right! The decor of this place is amazing! The lunch specials are priced super fair! Like they are giving out free food at this point! Nice place to hang out in the heights! The owners are really kind friendly people too

This place is such a vibe! I wasn’t expecting much when I walked in, but wow—every drink was a hit! Loved everything from the cocktails to the small plates. 10/10 will be back. Highly recommend for a date night or hangout !!!

Yelp
Wow! Such a hidden gem! We absolutely loved all of the food. It is a speak easy and a cool atmosphere. The staff is very nice and attentive as well. The eggrolls are very good, they aren't greasy and the dipping sauce really finishes out the rolls perfectly The shaken beef is by far the best I've ever had. The spices are so good that you will want to eat every bit of the dish The spicy rice rolls were super addicting. They are incredible 10/10 would recommend the place!

Yelp
Bars with secret entrances are better than bars with regular entrances, that's an unspoken fact. For Meo, the entrance was pretty obvious since you can see the outline of the door. And anyone with a shred of intelligence should be able to figure out how to open it lol. The high ceilings inside was impressive, and the handmade koi fish light decoration on the wall was even more impressive. Didn't get to try the alcoholic drinks since I had a half marathon in 2 weeks, but loved the cocktail options with a touch of asian ingredients. #328

Yelp
Great vibe and ambiance. We tried the Street Corn and Lychee to the Limit. Food is great and drink had a unique taste that complimented very well together.

Yelp
My friends and I were looking for a place to grab a drink after dinner. Since we weren't as familiar with the area, we browsed Yelp and decided to give Meo Bar a try. I didn't realize it was a speakeasy until I pulled into the parking lot. Parking was plentiful which is always a plus. We browsed some reviews to figure out where to go. Once inside the restaurant (Wokker HTX), we were still confused as there weren't any employees at the counter. A couple who was inside eating helped us out and eventually we made our way inside. The set up is essentially counter service. Order at the bar and they'll bring your drink to you. They do offer light bites, but we didn't order any food. The cocktails are very pretty and very good! I had the Meo G&T and Brenda's Violet Hour. I enjoyed both drinks. My friends had the Honey Bear and the Mui. My friend wanted to order one of the mocktails, but they ran out of ingredients for the drink, so they ended up comping one of her drinks. They have a good amount of tables and booths that can accommodate small and larger groups. The decor was cool and it was such a chill vibe.

Yelp
Ambience and all l...10/10. I took someone for a little intimate night. The vibes were there for surely

Yelp
Please bring back the ORIGINAL menu(lychee martini Specifically) before you closed for renovations Meo was my one of my favorite places to grab a drink and an app before a night out! I was thrilled to see they were reopening, I visited just a few days after and was so disappointed that the cocktail menu had been changed so much. Drinks are still good and it's worth the trip for the vibes alone but Meo had THE BEST lychee martini in Houston. BRING IT BACK!

Yelp
A cute, unique speakeasy! I have seen Mèo Bar on Instagram and finally got a chance to check it out. Apparently it recently opened up again as it was closed down for renovations. The drinks were unique, tasted great and had a great price.

Yelp
I love places that have an air of mystique so I've made it my business to experience every hidden or secret speakeasy Houston has to offer. This one is inside of the Wokker on Airline Dr. I loved it! I didn't try the food but I plan to the next time. The kitchen was already closed when I arrived. The service was great and the drinks go down really smooth. First time I ever had a cognac with no bite. The ambiance is cozy, trendy, casual, laid back, and a real vibe and has cute Asian aesthetics, with a splash of hippy, trippy, neon lights.

Yelp
Mèo Bar, which stands for cat bar, is a speakeasy located in an unassuming Chinese restaurant named the Wokker. Once inside, you lift the cat portrait and ring the bell, and a bartender will open the door for you. The inside is a bit small but has many seats and a dj, as well. Their menu had a lot of Asian-inspired drinks. As a Viet person and pandan enthusiast, I had to get the Pandamonium, which consisted of rum, pandan, vanilla, and banana caramel syrup-clarified milk punch. I also got the Salty Kitty , which contained salted plum-Infused vodka, orange bourbon tincture, turbinado, lemon, and egg white, and a lychee cocktail. The Panamonium was my favorite. It was smooth and not too strong and tasted like a cucumber drink with a slight pandan smell and after taste. The Salty Kitty had foam on top made from the egg whites, and it was strong with a salty and sour taste. The lychee cocktail was so cute and came with a piece of lychee candy. However, I do wish that they put actual piece of lychee, too. I went on a Thursday, and it was pretty busy but not too crowded, and I think it's a great place to bring a group of friends. They also have a few mocktails and food, too! Overall, I really enjoyed their unique drink flavors and the experience.

Yelp
Meo Bar is an intriguing speakeasy hidden within Wokker, and the concept behind it is undeniably cool. Upon entering, you'll find that the bar is cozy, intimate, and maybe even a little romantic. I have to be honest about my experience with the drinks - none of them really hit the mark for me. The cocktails or beverages I tried left me wanting something more in terms of taste. Perhaps it was just a personal preference, but I was left a bit disappointed in this regard. On the bright side, the dumplings were a delightful surprise. The dumplings were a true highlight of the visit, offering a burst of flavor and a satisfying dining experience. Out of the Roasted Corn Wontons, Kimchi Butter Dumplings, Brisket Wasabi, the Kimchi Butter dumplings had to be my favorite. They're packing so much flavor! Although the drinks were not my favorite, the appeal of Meo Bar lies in its unique setting and the potential for a great night out. If you're looking for an intimate atmosphere and to enjoy dumplings, it's worth a visit.

Yelp
The food is great (served from Wokker next door) however the drinks were surprisingly disappointing given the speakeasy vibe and existing reviews. My cocktail was not strained and was gritty to drink. The pandamonium was good but watery. The salty kitty wasn't bad however it was served with a bunch of the drink spilled down the side. We came at 5pm on a Saturday and were the only guests there for the hour we stayed. If you want to try it out now is your chance!

Yelp
This is an absolutely spectacular little bar tucked away inside Wokker, a Latin-Asian fusion restaurant off Airline. It's a bit of an inconvenient location for us, but central enough that the majority of Houston won't have a problem with getting to it. I was pleasantly surprised to see ample parking, as Wokker is located at the end of a strip center. We managed to park right out front and walk right in. I hadn't told my wife why we were coming here, so she saw the cat murals and assumed that was the appeal-- of course, until I lifted the little framed cat and rang the bell. She was expecting music to play, not the door to open to a speakeasy style bar. Meo and Wokker are night and day. Wokker is bright and casual. Meo is much darker and upscale. There was a single bartender working the entire place, but sharing a kitchen with the public storefront meant there was ample service. We ordered the truffle soy dumplings, spicy rice rolls, and garlic sesame chicken bites off the Happy Hour menu. They were all dim sum style plates, but tasted spectacular. My wife opted for the tamarind margarita while I went with the whiskey highball. Neither was particularly impressive, but they rounded out our little trip nicely. We were among the first to arrive and the place never did get full while we were there, but the entire room seemed to hold maybe 40-50 people total. We'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Hard to beat!! Great drinks, great food, and cool vibe. Ghky recommended for any occasion
google avatar

Yelp
You walk into Wokker, go slightly to the right and see a mural of waving cats. Lift up the kitty frame, press the button, a bartender will open the door for you. It's dimly lit inside but the aesthetic is great. Since it was Father's Day, it was pretty slow. But we had great drinks and good conversation. I observed the bartender organizing their in-house infused liquors for their drinks. They sous-vide the alcohol with various fruit or flavors to make their cocktails extra special. I got a tamarind margarita, it was strong, slightly spicy and tangy. I also tried the lychee martini, this was slightly sweet, subtle and easy to drink. We ordered garlic chicken bites and truffle soy dumplings from the HH menu and an order bourbon soy dumplings. They were very delicious. Seasoned well, served hot and I enjoyed them. I also had a Pandamonium. It had nice notes of vanilla and it was kinda floral. We also got more dumplings and drinks, kim chi butter dumplings and squid ink siu mai. These were just alright. The flavors weren't what I would prefer but it was ok. The bartender was great, she was attentive and friendly.

Jodie Q.

Yelp
This place is really cute and the food is pretty decent. They have a speakeasy inside which is cool. You follow the cats to find your way in. I won't spoil it, you'll have to find out yourself. Good amount of parking outside, it's located in a strip of businesses. There is a few tables inside to sit and eat if you order from the counter. Bathrooms are clean and the place itself is clean also. The speakeasy bar is very dark and romantic with little lamps on each table. There is bar top seating and a separate menu that Is served at the bar. We went in a Sunday and it was slow, most likely because it was Father's Day so it was really nice. We had a good time and I would go back again.

Yelp
A squad of us journeyed here after the whiskey event in spring. We arrived in the restaurant, and walked up to the car on the wall. We clicked the button, but it didn't appear to do anything, so we clicked it again. Out came a gal who said we only needed to click once. Our bad! It might be good to have a something to let us know the bar signal was activated. Maybe the cats eyes glow red? That would be sweet. Walking in, the lighting is low. Great for mood setting, but it was a lovely crowd, so definitely not a romantic vibe on this particular night. The bar was jumping, the gals were doing work! Throughout the night, we ordered almost everything on the menu, and even got a free drink that was delivered that we hadn't ordered. We appreciated the good fortune. We ended up closing out the place. The drinks were all really good. So good that one of us even ordered a non-alcoholic drink by mistake, and it was still great. We didn't order food this time, but it looked good. The staff was very fast, and very nice to chat with. We had a great time and look forward to going back.

Yelp
Meow! I mean if there was a place built for me, this is it. I've always been a big fan of speakeasies and it's been nice to see them sprout up around Houston recently. This one is located inside Wokker in The Heights. Not the best part of The Heights but well worth it. I stopped by on a Saturday evening. To get in, which is a lot of fun in itself, you pass by the food counter until you see a cat painting on the wall. From there, there's a cat painting that you lift up which will reveal a buzzer. Click the buzzer and they'll let you in. Once you enter, you'll experience the typically dimly-lit ambiance. It's relatively small bu the decor is cool and there's comfortable seating. They do have a nice menu of appetizers but we didn't eat on our visit. Instead, we focused on the list of eight or so craft cocktails. Meo Bar, beyond being cat-themed, focuses on Asian ingredients, so you'll see things like yuzu and lychee make an appearance on the menu. I tried three of their cocktails and they all delivered. They were creative, they tasted good, and they were elaborate. Out of the speakeasies I've been to in Houston, Meo Bar holds the number one spot for me.
google avatar

Brooke G.

Yelp
Wow! My friends and I checked this place out last night after being told about it by some neighbors. I had no idea this cute Speakeasy was right down the street. The ambiance was great, they had a DJ Playing and the music was fun. The service was amazing, fast, friendly and efficient. The flavors from every dish were so good and different. So good, that I didn't want to add any hot sauce or chili oil and I add it everything usually. The Brussel Sprouts had these yellow dried berries that were so delicious and really completes the dish. Brisket eggrolls, were so soo good! The Pad Thai had a really nice kick to it and to be honest was one of the best pad Thais I've ever had We will definitely be back
google avatar

Rachel J.

Yelp
The vibe is immaculate. The whole theme of the speakeasy was definitely unique, and who doesn't love a good Asian inspired themed bar? My friends and I had more than a great time, but we weren't complete sold on the drinks despite how aesthetic they looked. Brenda's Violet Hour was a fan favorite for us (the pink drink with purple, circular ice cube).
google avatar

William L.

Yelp
Speakeasy inside of Wokker, a creative idea having to lift a framed photo of a cat to press the doorbell. A cool vibe once you walk in, dimmed lights, very intimate settings, great potential date spot. Busy Saturday evening when our group walked in, good seating space and the staff was very attentive, got our drinks fairly quickly. I like how there's an Asian twist on some of the classic cocktails, Toki Smash, Old Fashioned, the gimlets were very good. I did not enjoy "something in the water", but all the other drinks were pretty solid. Would definitely try out the food next time!
google avatar

Nadia V.

Yelp
This cute and cozy hideaway of a speakeasy is a good spot for either a small group of friends (six tops) or date night. My favorite things about Meo: flavorful food choices, creative drinks, and there's an actual parking lot. Actual parking lot, y'all! That's hard to come by in the area. We arrived around 7:30 on a Saturday night and there were only a few other tables occupied. By the time we left around 9pm, the place was nearly full. Food recommendations: Brussels and the kimchi chicken dumplings.

Cindy R.

Yelp
what a gem. ambiance, service, drinks and food were all perfect. try the pho carp. egg rolls and rolled rice. and yes, pick up the cat picture on the wall to open the door
google avatar

Judy C.

Yelp
Really cool & cute & chill speakeasy! The location is inside of Wokker the restaurant and then you walk-in and there's a cat wall that has a picture frame of a cat and you lift it up to ring the door bell. Someone will let you in! It's actually quite spacious inside too for a speakeasy. Good amount of seating spaces for 2-6 people! They had different cocktails and small bites. Ordered the rice rollls and they were made out of rice paper that's rolled up and deep fried and then sauced up with a sweet/spicy/tangy sauce. They were nice and crispy and chewy at the same time. For drinks, we ordered two non-alcoholic beverages on the norm...but added tequila to make it a cocktail. The "she's giving" and "golden moon" both with tequila and they were light/not too strong and refreshing. There's 1 bar inside and then you can use the restroom that's inside of Wokker. Parking - within the Parking plaza of Wokker (free) I really liked this concept and would come back again to try the other small bites! Excellent hospitality too!

Yelp
This place is the cutest, most unique bar I've been to in a while. So, I didn't know that this secret bar existed and it was where we were going. My husband was adamant that I'd love it. I walk inside. See the nice cat mural and think...okay he thinks I'm a crazy cat lady. Then the secret is shown to me and I'm inside a hidden bar! When the door popped open I almost yelped. It caught me off guard that much. The service inside was excellent. The bar itself was dimmed perfectly to create a cozy atmosphere. Our bartender was really nice and did a great job. She was super professional and patient with some entitled rich customers, so that spoke volumes for her and the establishment. The drinks and food were unique and fresh. The food had a Latin Asian infused menu and the drinks reflected that as well. We ordered a little bit of everything and were blown away. If you follow me, y'all know I love Maple Leaf, but man this place won me over. Definitely go there and try it out.
google avatar

Jacquelyn C.

Yelp
The food here is alright, but the drinks here are spectacular. We got the Bourbon Soy Mandu, Squid Ink Siu Mai, and the Kimchi Butter Dumplings. The Mandu and Siu Mai both tasted like they were missing something, but the Kimchi Butter Dumplings had potential. They tasted a little too buttery to our taste, and could have used a bit more kimchi. It was a great dish to try though. We ordered basically every drink on the menu except the old fashioned. The pandamonium tastes sort of like an alcoholic boba drink, and all the other drinks tasted like juice. The tea ceremony tasted like straight up cognac, but as the ice melted it began to taste better. Will definitely be returning for the drinks.
google avatar

Karen D.

Yelp
Came here on a weekday late evening for drinks and snacks. The entrance is difficult to figure out by yourself, so we asked for help. There is a picture of a cat that you lift up, and then you push the button. A secret door opens, and voila! There you are. The bar is dimly lit, with a modern chic vibe. We tried the blame it on the juice, salty kitty and Meo G&T, which were all excellent. Salty kitty was my fave. There were 3 drinks that were greyed out on the menu - later informed they were out, which I think is strange to still keep printed on the menu. We also had the chicken dumplings and Brussels sprouts. Both dishes were solid as well. Water is self-serve. Excited to come back and try some others!
google avatar

Liz N.

Yelp
Super cool place!! Located inside Wokker. Look for the yellow cat door and the doorbell is located behind the cat pic. Just ring it and an employee will open it up for you! The ambiance is super chill and laid back. The cocktail selection is solid and they have bar bites in case you're hungry. We didn't get any food since we had just come from dinner, but we ordered all the cocktails off the special lunar new year menu. We got the white lotus, jasmine tea old fashioned, and the meo sua da. The white lotus and jasmine tea old fashioned were my favorites. This is a great date night spot or if you just want to come hang with friends!
google avatar

Keandra P.

Yelp
Located inside a restaurant. You lift a cat framed photo and press the button, and wait until someone let's you in the door. I came here with some friends after a yelp event. I would have never known about this place if my friends had not mentioned it. You place your order at the bar, and wait for it at your seat. Drinks- I got the Brenda's Violet Hour. Which I enjoyed. But it was last call so I didn't get a chance to order anything else. This was the cats MEOW
google avatar

Vanesa V.

Yelp
Cool little speakeasy inside of wokker restaurant. It's a bit confusing so if it's your first time I would ask for help on how to get in. We basically had to lift up this cat picture on the left side of the door to find the doorbell for Mei bar. We tried some of the dumplings and really enjoyed it. Only thing was we would have preferred the corn dumplings to be hotter as it was a bit cold on the inside. We didn't need reservations and were able to snag a table on a Friday night pretty easily.
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
A little difficult to find but that's the way it's supposed to be. I love it. Excellent cocktails.
google avatar

Nick R.

Yelp
Great place. Actually locating it inside of Wokker was a bit of an adventure. Once inside, the dark interior and colorful design set a great mood. Our drinks were fantastic as was the food. For this type of speakeasy and the quality of food, the prices were really remarkable. Would definitely come again. It is very small, so I felt fortunate we were able to be seated quickly (Friday night, 930ish).

Yelp
Happy Lunar New Year! It's the Year of the Cat! It's the Year of the Mèo Bar! While everyone is celebrating the rabbit for Lunar New Year (Tết) 2023, us Vietnamese folks are celebrating the Year of the cat, con mèo. As a child, my excitement of Tết was focused around the amount of lì xì (lucky money) I would receive. I remember waking up early each new year's morning to memorize the blessings that I would later have to give to each elder I came across. I truly believed the more blessings I gave, the better chance I would have to receive extra red envelopes. As I grew older, I started to recognize Tết was so much more than the lì xìs. I started to see the symbolism behind the cleaning of the ancestral shrine, the care my mother took to make her pickled veggies, the offerings of sweet sticky rice to Ông Táo, the kitchen god, the smell of incense roaming through the house before the crack of dawn, the family gatherings surrounding a table filled with assortment of dishes from bánh Tết to thịt kho trứng, and the silent bows in front of Buddha my parents gave to pray for me and my siblings to live a life that's happy and healthy. And maybe it's because this is my first year not being able to celebrate Tết with my family, but I value more than ever now, the meaning behind how you welcome in the new year. So friends I am here to tell you, that if you find yourself in a place where you don't have close access to your family or usual customs, Mèo Bar is here for you. Year of the Mèo Bar, I share these blessings with you. Chúc mừng năm mới - Happy New Year The Golden Moon: sugar cane juice, kumquat, lemon grass, and egg white. A perfect representation to celebrate the first new moon of the lunar calendar. Bright, bold and refreshing. An khang thịnh vượng - Wishing you security, good health, and prosperity. Daikon Foie Stacks: turnip cakes, house bacon, sesame sweet soy, and grated foie gras. May the new year be as prosperous and solid as this thick stack of turnip cakes were. Vạn sự như ý - May things go according to your will. Spicy rice rolls: crispy rice rolls, spicy tamarind, sesame, and scallions. Life is a rollercoaster, let the good times roll, and it will always be a good time with these rice rolls. Tiền vô như nước - Hope your money flows in like water. Squid ink siu mai: house bacon, gulf shrimp, squid ink wonton skins, gold flakes. May money flow in like water or sit on top of your dumplings, both sounds nice. Sống lâu trăm tuổi - Wishing you a long life of 100 years. Kimchi butter dumplings: steamed chicken filling, Napa cabbage, kimchi butter sauce. Maximize your lifespan by bathing yourself in this kimchi butter sauce. Sức khỏe dồi dào - And a year filled with plenty of health. Salty Kitty: salted plum vodka, orange tincture, lemon, turbinado, and egg white. Do not be a salty kitty and have regrets. Instead, go drink a salty kitty and spend your time intentionally. Live a life that is full of love, happiness and good health. And if you made it this far into this review you deserve a lì xì. Order the tea ceremony! -Sailor out

Yelp
Been a fan of Wokker for so long that we had to come out and support this speakeasy. From the drinks and snacks to the service and ambiance - everything was top-notched. Hard to find a speakeasy with not just delicious drinks but also bomb food. We tried a little bit of everything, but my favorite drinks were Something in the Water and Tea Ceremony. Really interesting combination of flavors. As for food, we really enjoyed the rice rolls, turnip cakes, and brisket dumplings. The shaved foie gras on top of the turnip cake makes each bite delectable. While the dumplings seem ordinary, they're actually homemade, and the sauces for each dish are what make them truly outstanding.

Yelp
You ring the doorbell under the cat picture to be let in. And please only ring it once, as it keeps going off for all to hear. The drink selection was crafted by people who really understand flavors as we tried several drinks and loved them all. Their dumplings and non dumplings were delicious. This is definitely a must try, but you may want to get there early; there's limited seating and it was already full by 645pm.

Yelp
Meo Bar is a hidden gem - literally hidden - behind a secret door in the wall of Wokker!! Ring the buzzer and step inside! Meo Bar has the classic speakeasy vibe: dimmed lights, elegant decor, and intimate seating. The interior design is stunning! The walls are hand-painted and many of the other pieces, such as the chandeliers and seat cushions, are also hand-crafted by one of the owners. The drink menu puts an Asian twist on several classic cocktails, and Meo Bar has a small dumpling menu for snacking. The chicken kimchi butter dumplings were our favorite, and the sweet corn dumplings were also delicious. I got the Gin & Tonic, and others in my party enjoyed the Salty Kitty and Tea Ceremony. All drinks got positive reviews - we'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Fun little speak easy. Lighting is dim and cool vibe - great for a date. Service is kinda slow - but the service industry is suffering these days - only one person was servicing the entire bar. Food was okay but wouldnt brag about it. Drinks were not complex or balance - but tasted good and had interesting ingredients. A cool date spot but dont bring your cocktail snob friends here - they wont shut up about it.

Yelp
Cool little speakeasy inside the Asian food spot. Lighting is dark and sleazy like a true speak. Good is quick fare nothing to scream about. Cocktails are fun. Mostly ambiance is why i rate it 4 stars. Service was slow but understandable with service industry these days. Overall good place to hang out and chat on a date.

Yelp
I would give it zero stars. Friday night at 9:00 and it is closed. Totally dark and waiter came in and shooed us off. One couple was in restaurant and had not touched their food. We are headed to The Houston Watch Company.

Yelp
This was a really cute, albeit random, spot! Drinks are good and vibe is cool! We ordered drinks and the Brussels sprouts--which were delicious.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went out for a date night and I had no idea where we were going (as I'm from out of state) and I was so pleasantly surprised to find a bar in a closed restaurant! such a cool concept and so unexpected. We enter and the vibes are immaculate, drinks are AMAZING - shoutout to our bartender Charity !! And their dumplings are so bomb. Definitely coming back here to hang when I'm back in town!!

Yelp
The vibe here is pretty cool, speakeasy just as it claims. It is very dark, somewhat romantic, and the service is really quite good. I tried all of the gin cocktails, which I thought were somewhat difficult to differentiate because they all tasted heavy on the lime and the G&T could use a little work, particularly by removing the floating bits of flower. The dumplings are delicious, sampled with all, kimchi butter was probably favorite and stood out the most with an excitingly sweet spicy sauce. The daikon stacks weren't really anything to write home about, in fact I dipped them in the kimchi butter sauce. The ambiance is great but the room gets a little toasty. There were large and small groups, even a first date that you could tell went EXTREMELY well

Yelp
VERY cool atmosphere! This is EXACTLY what HTX needs, though... I kinda don't want to tell anyone about it, and wish I could keep it a secret!

Yelp
I'm a sucker for hidden gems. Perfect for a late night drink and to satisfy a snack craving. Their dumplings are on point!

Yelp
This speakeasy is a great place for a date or drinks w/a girlfriend. The vibe is chill, modern, artsy and relaxed while the drinks add some spunk to the evening. Yeah, I said 'spunk'. We ordered the Salty Kitty, their most popular drink, which tastes like a grown-up orange julius and the Noname which my friend thought was a bit too strong but tastes like a marshmallow. The food was terrific - order the butter kimchi dumplings and the chicken dumplings - you won't regret it. 4 stars because the bar was so cold, we had to put out jackets back on and our food got cold fast plus the service lacked a bit, but that's everywhere these days, isn't it?
