"A piece of Porto heritage since 1914, the Mercado do Bolhão opened its doors again in 2022 after four years of renovations, allowing vendors to return to the stalls where their parents and grandparents once worked. The historic Beaux Arts-style building in the city center houses 81 stalls and 38 stores, which sell a mixture of fruits, vegetables, baked goods, charcuterie, tinned fish, cheese, and flowers. There are also modern coffee shops and newer restaurants, such as Culto ao Bacalhau, where you can taste many preparations, including desserts, made with codfish, one of the most significant symbols of Portuguese gastronomy." - Rafael Tonon

We visited this market a couple of times during our stay in Porto and had a great time exploring all it had to offer. There’s an impressive variety of vendors, selling everything from sandwiches, coffee, and pastries to specialty goods. We picked up espressos, fresh fruit, cheese, and dried fruit stuffed with nuts, and everything was delicious. Prices are a bit on the higher side, as you’d expect from a newer market, but the experience was well worth it. A fun spot to browse, snack, and soak in the lively atmosphere.

A must-visit, you have everything that is best here. Starting with seafood through small sandwiches, cold cuts, fruits and vegetables and ending with wines. Everything is fresh and to try in small portions to share. There are restaurants on the first floor. A must-visit during your stay in Porto. I recommend it

I loved this market. It’s clean and spacious with plenty of place between the stalls. Smells good. You can find anything here - from fruits and vegetables to meat and fish. Most people get takeaway nibbles and wine from the shops and stalls on the ground floor and enjoy them on the stairs or second floor which has some seatings. There are restaurants on the third floor.

This market is just beside the Bolhão metro station and one can access the station through it. It's a huge market with hand made things, fresh vegetables, flowers, meat, fish, fruits and juice, chocolate and cafeteria. This market also contains restaurants in the upper floor. A nice place to have breakfast watching the daily citylife and of course to collect some souvenirs. Must recommended.

Very nice place to visit to eat some snacks or buy some food souvenir. It’s a modern market that was renovated recently. It is not very marg but you can find many vendors. They mostly sells food stuff that you can eat right away or to bring home. Like seafood platter for example or croquettes. We were pleased to find a cheese stall. They were selling vacuumed packed cheese which were handy when you take the plane. The price was quite reasonable for most of the vendors. It’s a must do for all the foodies!
