Arrived at 2 on Saturday. Advertised as open.. Definitely not a bustling market at this time of day 80%of stalls closed. Pretty much fruit and veg only options. Some restaurants open but fresh selection limited. Update opening hours. Visit before.12 or after 5.30.or prepare to be disappointed 😔

We went at 7a but only a few of the stations were open and ready for business. We grabbed some fruit from one of the stations though and it was so fresh! I imagine this market is amazing later in the morning when all the stations are open!

Stopped in as part of a food tour, so the experience was probably different than it would be if we had just popped in. As a result, the service was super friendly and attentive. There are a bunch of cute stores. Solid amount of options between pasta, cheese, meat, produce. I'm not sure I necessarily would have needed to come here it it weren't part of a food tour but in the end it was a nice experience. Not as overwhelming as some other similar markets may be and a nice way to see some of the authenticity of the area.

Many varieties of fresh vegetables. Excellent fish counter. The Mercado is lined with restaurants and coffee shops. We ate tapas al fresco behind the fish section of the market. Delicious food. Great variety. The staff totally understood which dishes had, or did not have gluten in them.

Surprisingly small place. Few stands with fruit n vegs, bakery. Nice to see if youre passing by.

Quite a few stalls were closed when I visited, so it was lacking that hectic vibe that a true fresh food market has, but I managed to get great lunch options: pasta with brodo from one place and eggplant parmigiana piadina (made as the closed version, can’t remember the name) and both were so tasty! 😋

This market is a mecca that no foodie should miss! Fortunately I had a hotel nearby. As well as all the stalls selling all sorts of good quality produce there are great restaurants, but they only do lunch. Closed in the evenings. Don't miss it!

Nice mix of produce vendor and ready to eat food. Less crowded than Mercato di Mezzo.

Yelp
Perfect night at the perfect place to have dinner. Fried bread for antipasti, green lasagna with traditional ragu, tortellini with parmigiano reggiano cheese, and tortellini in beef and manzo broth. Complemented with white wine from Bologna winery and tiramisu for the dessert.

Yelp
One of the main indoor farmer's markets in Bologna, this is located on the western side of city center. Hours are 7am-midnight daily except Sundays, the fresh produce vendors open earliest around 7am, and start wrapping up mid/late afternoon, while the prepared food and restaurants open later closer to noon, and stay open later at night. Walking into the building, depending which entrance you are at, a couple salumerias are located right as you enter, carrying a selection of local cheeses, aged meats, and other traditional Italian deli items. Once inside, about a dozen fruit and vegetable vendors make up the stands set up in the middle area of the market. Bunches of asparagus, artichokes, regional tomatoes, Sicilian oranges, strawberries were in season in early April. Along the sides of the market were shops selling meat, cheese and dairy, olives/olive oil & condiments. In the side wings on both sides of the produce section were food vendors--pasta, pizza, cafe/wine bar, traditional Italian seafood, there were quite a few options here. I ended up grabbing pizza at one of the spots inside - Mozzabella Street Food. Not bad, unique toppings one with black cabbage and sausage, the other green chard and marinara sauce. The dough was crisp on the bottom and had the slight chew you want in a good crust. Not too many people on a weekday morning though closer to noon more people started coming for lunch. Bathrooms were available. The location is about a 7-8 minute walk to the central square Piazza Maggiore, and most of the main attractions in the city center.

Yelp
This market is a feast for your eyes, as well as your stomach. It's on the smaller side but it really does pack a punch. The building is surrounded by places to sit and eat, while the interior has shops you can buy all the produce you'd want from (and other items of course). I appreciated that even though most of the stands inside were produce, not everyone had the exact same product so you could see different things from different stands. Everyone who worked here was friendly and helpful but not pushy and I loved that. I like to be able to just look and decide later if I want to buy some stuff or not. We ended up eating at Noi and it was an incredible experience.

Yelp
We saw a couple of Food Markets in Bologna and decided to stop at this one and weren't disappointed. Small to medium size Mercado with a traditional/classic feel to it. Fresh fruits, beef, cheese, Salumeria and vegetable stands in the middle surrounded by a variety of food stands and sit down restaurants. We stopped at Mozzabella and had some excellent Flat Bread. Mortadella/Mozarella and a second one with Mushrooms/Artichokes. Paired with a Goose Island IPA and a Belgian Ale. For main lunch course, we walked around given a few choices and ended up in the same section as Mozabella. Noi is a traditional spot but inside seating was full given the lunch hour. We had an amazing Al Fresco lunch. This spot is not to be missed. They do have a restroom but it is attached to one of the restaurants so good to check their closing time. It wasn't open around 3:30 on a Tuesday. All of our servers were friendly and engaged. Overall, nice Mercado for a local flavor experience!

Yelp
A great place to get fresh produce. Been back a few times and always been lucky to end up with good tasting fruits and veggies, better than those that we pick up from the groceries. There's also several restaurants to choose from that is set up like a food court but really good quality food. We would go there throughout the year but also perfect during winter and rainy season since it's in door.

Yelp
Want fresh produce? This is the place to go. Great olive stand and great fresh veggies and fruit. Lov place for lunch off the main market. Many options around the room. Vegan options as well in the market.

Yelp
This is one of the markets downtown. They sell produce, meat, seafood and pretty much everything you would expect at a food market. On both sides, there are restaurants which you can eat at. There are maybe 10-15 restaurants total so you have many options. We ended up eating at one of the stalls and the food was very good. Make sure to visit this place if you are in town. I liked it because it had a very relaxed atmosphere for a market. It wasn't overly crowded or noisy/smelly. (We did go on a weekday, so not sure how it is on the weekend.)
