It was my first time visiting this place, and it instantly became my favorite! 🌅 The bar is absolutely amazing — I ordered a non-alcoholic mojito, and they added banana to it, turning it into the most delicious smoothie-style drink I’ve ever had. 🍹 The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, and the sunset view made the experience unforgettable. Highly recommend this beautiful spot! ✨

I had the "Asia de Coco Cuba Fried Rice & Shrimp" and the "Cuban Coffee Flan" both were fire ! Amazing ! And the service was amazing shout out bartender Blake ! And it was near the beach. But the food, truly, was superb

I went here after a long day of work. I was hungry. Service was fast, my server was very pleasant. I ordered the ceviche it was so fresh. And a mojito which was excellent. environment here is great.

Mercedes Grill has come full circle... We had a 60th b-day for about 25 people and used the Aloha Room (their new Tiki Bar which is SO CUTE!). The food was EXCELLENT - Sliders, Tacos, Quesadillas - the service/ cocktail selection / and quality from the Bartender (Will) was awesome (we had a golf theme 'Caddyshack" and he even went and got Golf Tees to use as a garnish for our MaiTais!) Our dedicated event Server (Gus) was not only attentive, he had a fun attidtude and kept the party rolling - and I really had such a great time working on a simple event menu - w/ the along with the culinary team - it was truly a top notch event. The new managers (Michael & Patrick) brought great energy - it's nice to see one of the OG spots in Venice coming into a bright light! ... We'll be back for Cuban food, soon - but wanted to leave a nice note about events & their new Tiki bar concept - A Venice Beach GEM.

Mercedes Bar & Grille is one of those rare Venice Beach spots that gets everything right. The food is consistently excellent, full of flavor without trying too hard, and clearly made with care. Every dish feels thoughtfully prepared rather than rushed or touristy. The atmosphere is just as strong. Relaxed, welcoming, and effortlessly cool, with great service that makes you want to stay longer than planned. It’s the kind of place you come back to again and again, whether you’re local or just passing through.

Lovely Cuban restaurant just off the beach. I got the lechón, my son got some pollo. Dessert was caramel/espresso flan. Great cocktails, great food, great service. Reasonable prices for the location.

2 out of 5 stars I drove all the way from the Inland Empire because I had a serious craving for their hibiscus tacos. I used to be a regular here, but this was my first visit in over two and a half years. Unfortunately, while the food was still phenomenal, the overall experience left much to be desired. I ordered two hibiscus street tacos with black beans, rice, plantains, and a side of mushrooms in their delicious caper sauce. I also got the artichoke dip and a virgin blueberry mojito. The food did not disappoint. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and exactly how I remembered it. They did accommodate my request to have the mushrooms with caper sauce on the side, which I appreciated. The service, however, was disappointing. I was not greeted or seated. I had to grab a menu myself and ended up placing my order at the bar out of frustration. It was obvious I was there to dine, but I felt completely ignored. One of the staff members also made a very forward comment about tipping. I had every intention of leaving a tip, but the way it was approached felt tactless and unprofessional. I was also overcharged for the artichoke dip. It was listed at twelve dollars for happy hour, but I was charged eighteen. To make matters worse, they did not include any utensils in my to-go order. At that point I just went to go enjoy my food in the car instead. The food was incredible, but the poor service made the experience frustrating. I am not sure I will be returning.

As a Cuban American with high expectations for my Cuban food, I can happily recommend Mercedes! My husband and I absolutely loved our both our plates; the mojo pollo was amazing and his lechon asado was so delish. Plus the black beans and plantains reminded me of exactly how my abuela used to make them!! Go before 6 for the happy hour cocktails!

Perfect late night dinner binge after a 10.5hr flight back from the UK! A work trip took me to Belgium through London for the week--amazing yet exhausting. Pictured appetizers are the Spinach and Artichoke dip (with the garlic shrimp--highly recommend adding this!) and the Caribbean Ahi Tuna Pica with crispy homemade wonton chips. Both were pretty incredible! Bright, savory and fresh citrus flavors from the Ahi tuna balanced by a rich, creamy comforting infusion from the S&A dip with the added garlic shrimp. Only criticism was the S&A dip was quite salty! Nothing a few (or 5) glasses of water couldn't handle. Lol For dinner we tried the Spinach and Goat cheese enchiladas and Cuban Mojo chicken. 5/5 stars for the enchiladas!! Delicious and nutritious in every way plus the goat cheese added a really nice flavor burst which was the perfect twist on a classic Mexican style meal. On the other hand, 3/5 stars was the Mojo chicken. My husband had to add salt and felt the chicken was under-seasoned and just unimpressive overall. We're big Cuban food lovers so we know good Cuban when we taste it. Oh, well. It just means he'll try something different next time. This was my second time here since a Mother's Day brunch my family took me to some 5-6 years ago. I'm still impressed, and will be back! Service from our bus boys were amazing! They were friendly and attentive and just...well there. This left plenty to be desired from our server. Lackluster is the most fitting description, but I didn't let this ruin my experience. Overall the restaurant had good food, good vibes (as we sat on the patio) so I would still definitely recommend. Also, not pictured were 2 classic Brazilian Caipirinhas that were really good! They use Leblon cachaca--the real stuff, which was great.

This is a great place for breakfast. Stopped in with my family twice and both times the food was amazing and the service was great. Fast refills and very friendly waitstaff. It was great sitting outside so close to the ocean.

Tried here for second time after epic fail the first time around. Came for happy hour. Peruvian pollo tostada is what u should get. Refreshing and tasty. The quesadilla and beef slider alright but I won't be getting it again

Service was friendly but food left a lot to be desired. It was fine to stop for lunch, but if we're in the area again I'll go somewhere else. My hibiscus tacos were okay, a little bland. I would have liked some salsa maybe on the side but the only thing available was tapatio. My partner's Cuban fish and chips were, according to him, definitely frozen fish filets warmed up. He didn't make it through the meal, said they were the worst he'd ever had. Glasses of wine are impossible to screw up, though! We enjoyed them on the patio and had fun soaking in the ambience of Venice beach. Again, servers and bus boys were all very very friendly and quick. Thank you!

May 2023/Memorial Day Weekend: Mercedes is a neighborhood favorite & luckily, only steps away! While over the years, I've enjoyed the jerk seasoning on some of the items, the salmon dish, including usually ordering my absolute favorite, the Hibiscus Tacos w/beans & plantains, I tried something new! This week, while playing w/my neighbor's dog, she told me about their breakfast special! Venice Hippie Omelette Breakfast: Fun name! Haha! I ordered this dish, as it was piping hot and stuffed full of colorful veggies! I highly recommend! Flavorful as ever, and absolutely delicious, alongside home fries & an English muffin! You also have a choice of substituting the home fries for fruit! The meal is definitely plentiful! I couldn't eat it all & had plenty of leftovers! Both of my friends enjoyed their omelettes as well! Overall: Say yes to half off omelettes between 8-9AM at Mercedes M-F! They are more than delicious & worth it! There is both indoor and outdoor seating as well! Plus, it's right by the beach, so you can take a walk afterwards or even walk on the pier! Score!

A beautiful sunny Saturday just asks for a pleasant brunch by the beach. After a long walk by the canals and the Washington pier in the Marina we spontaneously decided on eating here. We were seated fairly quickly in the outdoor section, the server was friendly and happy to please. The menu has a nice selection of options and priced fairly. Food portions are respectful and well prepared. The politically correct omelette was really good and plumply stuffed, the pancakes were moist but the potatoes can use a little more seasoning and can be crispier and served hotter. We opted for pineapple mimosas and really enjoyed them. Overall sitting there, enjoying a meal, day drinking with nice company and people watching was a fun time.

The service wasn't only bad it was non-existent. And the waitress as soon as I was able to find her was really rude!

Great place to hang out during a long layover. Marcus was super helpful and held my large and in charge suitcase in his office so I didn't need to worry about it. Food was delicious and beer was refreshing. Excellent Venice Beach spot!

I'm from Albuquerque, but I am traveling to Venice Beach. Here I encountered this lovely restaurant, and had breakfast. Wonderful ambience, watching people go by with surfboards, enjoying the sun and the breeze, the ocean in the distance. Great service here, and nice to have a vegan option on the menu. It was delicious. And really tasty coffee.

Holy Shit!!!! This is the best restaurant I've ever been too. Had absolutely outstanding service, the food was the best I've ever had, hands down. And the blended banana mojito really blew me away. The atmosphere of this place is very casual and absolutely lovely. Our server was Devan and he was AMAZINGGGGG. He was absolutely outstanding. Very fun to talk to and gave great recommendations. I would give this place 10 stars if I could.

I met a friend here on 7.14 around 9PM and we decided to have some drinks and appetizers and our server Maya was really helpful, courteous and professional! We ordered the Peruvian Pollo Tostada ($18), the Shrimp Ceviche ($25) and the Avocado & Mushroom Fried ($16). All three items were tasty and well prepared! I also had Iced Tea ($4), and we both had Decaf Coffees ($10). We stayed awhile and ate on the patio and the vibe was very cozy, but just a little brisk to be outside. Washington Square was hopping and it is clear summer is here in Venice! The total bill with Tax was $78.27 and a $20 cash tip for great service by Maya. I have had my issues in the past with Mercedes Grille, but that seems to be in the rearview mirror and I love the food and the vibe of the street in the summer! Mercedes Grille is located at 14 Washington on the same side of the street with Casa 12 & The Whaler! There are always a mix of regulars and locals alike and they have a great menu, with the Citrus Salmon at the top of my list! Summer is here and so is Mercedes Grille, always a reliable place to dine, have a drink and congregate by the beach here in Venice! RECOMMEND!

Excellent place for a private birthday breakfast celebration. They have a partitioned off area on the outside patio that can fit up to 15 people. What made it the best was our server, Lauren. I had spoken to her before the event and reviewed how it could be set up. It was so nice with fresh flowers, table set with waters and coffee pitchers. And she even made a sidewalk sign!! Her spirit and hospitality made this an enjoyable and scrumptious celebration. You can't beat the location as we had planned a group walk around the Venice canals afterward (2 blocks away). Thank you Lauren and the other staff at Mercedes.

The food is always delicious at Mercedes and our server has been there for ages. He's exceptional! We shared a carafe of Sangria and Ceviche appetizer. The chips were crispy and lightly salted. I enjoyed the citrus salmon and it was EXCEPTIONAL! My husband likes his Ropa Vieja, well seasoned and good peppers flavor but not too spicy! Our friends had ahi Tacos and Chicken Empanizado. They loved both choices.

Atmosphere, Service, and Food - They nailed them all!!! I sat outdoors in the street side offering. Totally chill vibe and my server had a spectacular personality. Food: I started with the Caribbean Tuna Pica which was an incredible compilation of flavors! Main dish was the Citrus Salmon. Both were incredible! Highly recommend checking them out if you're in the area!

If your in Venice Beach and want a descent spot to chill and grab a bite to eat. Swing by this place. I grabbed some fish and chips which was basically beer batter and fries...same as advertised. They had a steak on there I should of tried instead. My friend had a chicken thing with rice and beans....said was good. Would I go there's again.....yeah...I would.

Delicious restaurant on Venice beach. Food was amazing, geat service. Natasha was our waitress, she was amazing! Only bad thing was the constant fly swatting. Hard to enjoy your meal.

Great breakfast! We came here for brunch and enjoyed sitting outside down the street from Venice Beach. Girls ordered the 2 x 2 x2 breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon and pancakes. Big portions with fluffy pancakes yum! I had the Huevos Rancheros with corn tortillas, beans, eggs, rice and plantains. It was a delicious dish and loves the sweet plantains! Service was pretty quick. Tons of menu choices and served lunch and dinner as well. We will be back!

New bar stools suck...Devan is a great asset; he knows how to cater to the loud, demanding regulars - who like a liquid lunch - while still taking care of tourists, etc...

Never disappointed, always surprised with the best mixologist- seriously, Will satisfies w the freshest. The heart I. This place. Live music, etc. Inside AND Outside! Dogs good outside.

Great place with a local bar vibe. Everyone was friendly and seemed to know each other....I felt like I was in "Cheers" (an old TV show that took place in a bar for those youngins reading this lol). We had a couple appetizers and the Mexican shrimp ceviche was my favorite!!!! So if you're undecided definitely get that! The truffle oil fries and spinach & artichoke dip were also pretty good. And for the main dish I had Ropa Vieja which I would get again! Such a classic Cuban dish and it was prepared to perfection. And it was huge!!! I was so stuffed there was no room for dessert so I'm looking forward to the next visit.

Gia, is the best waiter ever! Her energy is infectious in a positive way. The food is always tasty and spicy. Ambiance is great on the weekend. A must if you're in the area on a sunny day and don't forget to ask for Gia she is 5 stars always

A great breakfast & brunch find at Venice Beach - Outstanding, varied menu - try the Arizona Benedict on sweet corn bread with avocados and house-made hollandaise sauce, or the chicken and waffles! Fresh and flavorful! Exceptional service and fun place for outdoor breakfast.

Disgusting! The shrimp I ordered was spoiled and smelled nasty. The drinks were watered down. Service was ok but once I tasted the spoiled food the mood was set.

We were looking for a good Cuban place near venice beach and were lucky enough to find this place! The service was very welcoming, food rich and flavorful and good prices.

This is a great Venice/Marina del Rey spot. Almost hidden right in view. Trust the locals and eat here. There's a lot of options right in this area that scream beach life. If you want food that never disappoints, nice outdoor seating, and a cosy bar atmosphere inside then this is the place. It definitely has a more polished vibe than party central. Great place for date night drinks. Awesome brunch food. Highly recommend that you try this one out.

The food is always perfect!! Been coming for at least 14 years. No matter where we are in La this is our first stop!!!!! G is the best and its so nice to see all the same staff!! Shows great ownership and consistent amazing perfection food!!!!!

This place has some great breakfast food and the service is amazing. The Halloween decorations on point. Definitely will recommend.

Seeing all of the tablecloths on the inside as we were walking by made me want to pass the place by but the seating outside was casual enough for how we were feeling (beached out and just looking for a good salad). Their tostada salad was great and ample. The sweet plantains were a very nice compliment to the salad as well. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere on the inside, while fancy with the tablecloths, was very jovial.

I love this restaurant. I enjoyed all the dishes that we ordered. Their cocktails are so addictive. They have outdoor seating and heaters. Service was fast. The servers took care of us and made sure we got all our orders. I'll definitely come back. Please continue to support our local restaurants.

Well, I'm traveling alone which always makes it hard to find the right place to relax and enjoy dinner without feeling awkward. This was the perfect place. Nice but chill. And coming out of a long Chicago winter, being able to sit outside in the sun was heavenly. Between the smell of the ocean and the really good music vibes, I almost forgot about the actual meal. California dreamin'. I ordered the citrus salmon. So fuckin' good. And the plantains were the best I've had. A glass of Prosecco and a crème brûlée was the cherry on top. I mean, the crème brûlée wasn't good, stick with the entrees. Honestly, I was so happy I went back the next night. This time, the ahi tacos. Even better than the salmon. Delicious. Ahi tuna cooked to perfection, with avocado and this delicious sauce. Go here. Plus, everyone is so nice.

Mercedes personally takes care of me, my family and friends every time i come here. The service is amazing, food is always fresh. All the waitresses and waiters are personable and attentive - especially Sierra. Will on the bar is also great. I Always have the best time here. Thanks

Mercedes' is located right near the beach. You will love this place. Everything is good and the drinks are amazing. Parking can be a bear, but you will find a space. The location is wonderful, lots of stuff to do nearby. The service is quite good, a tad slow, but I assume they need to hire. We got our food hot and pretty fast. We love their salmon and their rice is just the best. They also have wonderful breakfast burritos if you are there early. You can also get great vegan there if you want. The chicken is ever so tasty and the prices are fair. Go there.

This restaurant discriminates against pregnant women. After I told them I am pregnant they refused to serve me and told me to leave.

This is a great spot for brunch on a weekday. You can choose from either the brunch or dinner menu, which is good if it's around noon and you're in the mood for something other than pancakes. We ordered the Spinach and Artichoke Dip with Garlic Shrimp, the Citrus Salmon, and the Cuban Pork Sandwich with Sweet Potato Fries. Spinach Artichoke Dip: Definitely get it with the shrimp added in. I think without the shrimp, it wouldn't taste as good. Citrus Salmon: On the menu it says this dish was voted top 10 in the nation by Travel Channel, so of-course I had to get it to try it out. It was a stellar salmon that went will with the rice and black beans. Cuban Pork: Very large sandwich. The sweet potato fries were nice and crispy too. Everything came out quick and fresh and our server "G" was wonderful!!

Amazing experience! The food was fantastic! Had brunch-avocado toast and egg was delicious! We are visiting and the host offered ideas on other restaurants and places to see, which we greatly appreciated. Loved the atmosphere! Will be going back during this trip for sure!

I always love Mercedes Grill the food is consistently wonderful. I love the morning special but I have to get up pretty early to have a two for one breakfast.

I just went there for happy hour. The worse service ever , which explains the empty restaurant , after waiting for an hour the food arrived cold and poor quality as well. Would never go there. The ambiance is terrible and our waiter was very rude

The Chef and owner know what they are doing here. Good service, flavorful food and great location. Had the Huevos rancheros and shrimp ceviche...all excellent. Will return soon.

Went here for breakfast after walking down the beach! It's very cozy and chill! Loved the outside patio area. They have patio heaters for the cool mornings, which is a plus for me! I had an omelette which was stuff full of yummy goodness! Bacon, spinach, cheese, and chicken patties! So tasty!

The food was really really good, they are open on a Monday morning @ 7:30AM. Coffee, Gravy, bacon and their omelets and bacon is awesome its highly recommended. And Bacon if I didn't say it already.

Seemed like a nice place, but they don't honor the prices advertised. "I guess the bartenders didn't update the board" per the server.

Their happy hour is awesome! Felix is a friendly attentive server. Really enjoyed sitting outside listening to the music next door. It was great because it was sunny and their outdoor seating is really comfortable. Ceviche is a must.
