"Running next to the West Side Highway is great - mainly there are barely any stoplights, random potholes, or unexpected showers of A/C liquid. If you want to get a bite to eat without having to cross the highway and deal with any of those things, head to Merchants River House. Despite being right on the river in Battery Park City, this casual American spot doesn’t get as crowded as places like Pier A or City Vineyard, so you shouldn’t have trouble getting a table inside or on the outdoor patio. Either way, you’ll have very nice views of the river." - Matt Tervooren

"If you’ve been on the Hudson River running path by Battery Park, you may have noticed people drinking wine on couches or hanging out at tables behind rows of bushes. It’s not a commune, it’s Merchants River House. You can go here for a full meal, but we like it best for drinks during Happy Hour (4-7pm on weekdays) on the first-come couches on the terrace." - Matt Tervooren

This place has a great view of the river. The service was great. But food quality was mixed, and dishes were overpriced. Their $29 lobster roll was worse than the $17 lobster roll at Luke's Lobster. Their reasonably priced cauliflower steak was pretty good except for the dried out carrots that came with it. They have some gimmicky menu items like mac & cheese in a cone selling for $17 each. They've got everything else going: the great vibe, the amazing view of the river, and the awesome service. What's lacking is good food that's reasonably priced. I might give it another try and order some of the other menu items, but my first impression is that it smelled like a tourist trap.

Celebrated our Anniversary at Merchants River House now “Mezze on the River” and it was absolutely amazing. Food was delectable drinks spicy and atmosphere was spectacular. Our server Lind was kind, pleasant and very attentive. After dinner we took a walk by the water which was even more romantic. Totally worth it 💗 Absolutely will be going back.

Reservations highly recommended. Perfect for gatherings and spacious outside and inside. We took friends that came in from out of town. Close to the path trains and MTA trains. Really can’t beat the outside views at this restaurant. The staff was friendly and attentive. Nice selection of cocktails and food that felt like comfort food than fine dining. And comfort food is the best.

The view for river, sunset, and night light is unbeatable. The servers were attentive and polite. The food we had were decent, not that good but fair for the price and portion. There are dividers for indoor seating. Overall a place to consider if you want to have a relaxing night to hang out.

One of my new FAVORITE places. This place has it all - perfect quiet location, direct river/sunset views, super ROMANTIC vibe, good selection of seafood dishes, excellent service, and best of all, shockingly reasonable prices considering everything. The food won’t blow you away but it’s still very solid, especially if you’re craving things like mussels, fish and chips, or calamari. I totally recommend getting an order of the mussels to share - the white wine/sausage based sauce is to die for. You can enjoy a full dinner for two with a bottle of wine for around $100. This is the IDEAL DATE SPOT. You can’t see in my photos, but the other side/angle is a complete view of the Hudson. Sit outdoors on a summer night (come around 8pm when it’s cooler and the sun is setting), but the indoor space looks stellar as well.

The food is very tasty!!!Truly a romantic place on the river side in NYC where you can get the view of Newport and Hoboken. The food menu is very limited but whatever it is it is yummy yummy. the place is not that spacious because we went in the winter , but there is is an outside seat area. Must to visit place.

The PRETZEL IS TO DIE FOR!!!! It was nice and hot. Salty, chewy and just all around delicious! The atmosphere was calm & just very laid back. The view is beautiful. We went at night and it was perfect. The macaroni and cheese waffle cones were delicious! My favorite was the bacon & my husband was lobster. Only one thing I can add is to the plain macaroni one is some salt and pepper maybe, and the buffalo was just a bit too spicy. But overall delicious! The burger was AMAZING! Good flavors! Juicy & the onions was a good hit to the burger. Thank you for making our night with the delicious food and drinks on our anniversary.

We found this restaurant when googling for a dinner place close to The Wagner Hotel. What a lovely find. This is a local bistro with good food, nice ambiance, and a pleasant view of the harbor and the Statue of Liberty at a distance. The prices are decent and the service was good. Portions are also generous. I would recommend this place for dinner if you are around the Battery Park area.
