Mercure Grand Jebel Hafeet Al Ain Hotel

"How did it strike you on arrival? At an elevation of 3,000 feet, this mountain resort overlooks Al Ain and the Oman border. The atmosphere of the hotel itself isn't particularly destination-worthy, but the surrounding scenery is. Nice. What’s the crowd like?A large conference center means lots of local business travelers, but the hotel is popular among honeymooners and couples, too. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.Rooms are a bit dated and lack any sort of discernible regional flair. Headboards in the suites have elaborate wood inlays, and white bedding is accented with tropical hues. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?Beds are comfortable, but beware that some double rooms consist of two twin beds pushed together. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down.Bathrooms are on the smaller side, with dated tiling and so-so amenities. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Wi-Fi is free, strong throughout the property, and fast. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.The hotel's mountain-top location makes for great views, overlooking the pool and Al Ain below. The pool is spacious, with a bar for you and a waterslide for the kids. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay?Al Ain isn't exactly a hotbed of luxury resorts, but Mercure Grand Jebel Hafeet gets the job done." - Laura Ratliff

The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the stunning view from the balcony – waking up to panoramic mountain/sunset/lake views each morning was unforgettable. It truly felt like a retreat away from the noise of everyday life. The food was exceptional, with a variety of fresh, flavorful dishes served at their restaurant. From breakfast to dinner, every meal was prepared with care and beautifully presented. We also appreciated the free and convenient parking, which made traveling in and out stress-free.

I’m very disappointed with my recent stay at this hotel — especially considering I’ve stayed here before and had better experiences. To start, we requested an extra bed in advance via Booking.com (a verified account), but it was not provided until we arrived. We had to wait over 30 minutes after check-in, and to make it worse, we had to move and install the bed ourselves because no staff was available to assist. When we arrived, we also waited outside the hotel for over 10 minutes with our luggage and no one came to help. Eventually, we had to go inside and ask for help — only to be handed a trolley and move our own bags from the parking lot to the hotel. Despite booking through a verified platform, they insisted on ID for every guest, which caused unnecessary delays. The room itself was much smaller than advertised and nothing like the photos shown on the website. On top of that, they charged us for the extra bed, even though Booking.com clearly states it should be free. When we wanted to use the pool, they also charged us an extra fee for the third person, despite no mention of this in the hotel’s policy. In the end, we ended up paying more in hidden fees than the actual room booking itself. This stay was completely unexpected and disappointing — especially from a hotel I used to trust. Sadly, I won’t be returning unless major improvements are made.

The room was spotless, beautifully decorated, and offered all the amenities I could ask for. The bed was super comfy.I also really enjoyed the breakfast – fresh, delicious, and with plenty of options. The location was perfect, with easy access to nearby attractions. The hotel itself is nice, but unfortunately, most of the facilities come at an extra cost only the pool is free to use. One major downside was the food. We ordered pasta, pizza, and grilled chicken from the hotel restaurant, and it was both overpriced and very disappointing in taste. The breakfast buffet also needs improvement. There were very few options, no fresh items, and no proper coffee only black Nescafé and canned juices. Most of the food was cold and lacked quality.

I had an extremely disappointing stay at this hotel. The service was absolutely awful — the staff were rude, unhelpful, and seemed like they didn’t care about the guests at all. The food was just as bad, if not worse. It tasteless, and clearly not fresh. I couldn’t even finish my meals, and I ended up eating elsewhere most of the time. The overall cleanliness and maintenance of the hotel were also unacceptable. The rooms were dirty, the facilities were outdated, and everything felt neglected. I would strongly advise everyone to avoid this hotel at all costs. It was a complete waste of money and a very unpleasant experience. I will definitely never come back.
