A dreamy night at Mere Bulles Celebrating love with unforgettable flavors Last night, my husband and I had the opportunity to celebrate Valentine's Day at the charming restaurant Mere Bulles and it was a magical experience from beginning to end. From the moment we walked through the door, we felt transported to a world of romance and sophistication.

Google
Very historical place. Have not eaten here since the 90"'s downtown Nashville. love the new / old location. Will be making plans for a dinner date soon. Great place for a dinner meeting as well. J

Had a great experience tonight at Mere Bulles. We came in the day after Valentine’s Day looking forward to trying for first time. James treated us fantastic and we even had our wine delivered by the owner. Great food, experience, and loved seeing the Certified Angus Beef on the menu. Had the prime rib as well as lobster ravioli. Dessert fantastic and cocktail selections were delicious!! We will be back!!!!

I ordered the Salmon and corn cakes and it didn't disappoint. I finished off with the Apple Pear Crisp. It was all amazingly good. Overall great experience

Google
Amazing food/drinks. Had the crab bisque which was the best i’ve had living in the south. And the panko chicken was cooked to perfection. The only thing that ruined the night was our waitress, Portia. We had a birthday celebration for a family member and our waitress came to the table in a mood and was snippy with us and not happy about something but felt she took it out on us. Had to ask for plates for our cake, snapped at us when asking for plates, and never once said “happy birthday” or made a nice gesture. Paid really good money only to be treated like we were a bother-not going to recommend.

Google
Wonderful experience. Brandon had everything ready for our Anniversary brunch. Flowers and a signed card by the staff was a nice touch. Food was exceptional as always, atmosphere was perfect. Our waitress was attentive and polite. Brandon stopped by our table multiple times to chat and make sure we were enjoying ourselves. Thank you for a wonderful time. The Browns.

I have been to Mere Bulles several times, and it never misses a beat. The food is exceptional; Chef Derrick always ensure that the food is cooked to your liking and pays attentions to any allergies that the table may have. The atmosphere is always intimate, and everyone is kind. I tell everyone about it because its just that good. :)

I had a 4:00 PM reservation and hoped to avoid the Valentine’s Day rush by arriving early. Unfortunately, the service was significantly delayed. It took 28 minutes to receive our drinks and 40 minutes for our order to be taken. After nearly an hour, I inquired about our appetizers, which finally arrived but were disappointing. The food lacked flavor, and my salad tasted old and poorly prepared. I have dined at this restaurant several times and always had great experiences, but this was not their night. While we were still waiting to order, we noticed that tables seated after us were already receiving their entrées. After waiting two and a half hours without getting our main course or even being asked if we wanted a second drink, we ultimately decided to leave without eating. It simply should not take that long to receive a meal. As we exited, I noticed a large crowd of about 50 people waiting for tables, with champagne being handed out due to reservations running an hour behind. It appeared the restaurant had overbooked and was understaffed to meet the demand. I’m not someone who usually complains, but this was by far the worst service I have ever experienced. Unfortunately, it led to a disappointing Valentine’s Day, as we ended up going home without dinner.

Yelp
Outstanding Brunch Situated in a beautiful 100ish year old house. Greeted at the door and seated for our 8 top reservation (2 children under 2). Beautiful floor plan and woodwork. Excellent staff explaining brunch options, bringing drinks and clearing plates. Its a classic old school brunch. Omelet stations, carving stations with prime rib and pork tenderloin. pancake station. bagel/lox, biscuits/gravy. Numerous other offerings are available. A whole room is filled with deserts Pleasant atmosphere Very highly recomended Slainte!!

Yelp
We had a lunch reservation with a client who was in town. Quick fast seating during a busy lunch rush. The salmon and corn cakes were excellent. I definitely want to go back and try this infamous bisque! Outdoor seating was nice and the decor inside was beautiful. Fast service. Business minded server :)

Lily S.

Yelp
Mere Bulles, I am going to tell everyone about you! Multiple factors contributed to a truly 5-star lunch. - The staff! They were so warm, inviting, and clearly enthusiastic believers in their establishment and take pride in it's history & excellence. - The ambiance! Classically southern all around, the large historic home is divided into several comfortable dining rooms, including a beautiful sun-room & patio. Mere Bulles would be the perfect place for any number of social and celebratory gatherings (& they don't charge a venue rental fee!) - The FOOD! The worst part was having to select just one menu item, but after much deliberation I landed on the Beet & Burrata salad (add salmon.) It was presented beautifully, and was scrumptious down to the last bite. I'm already plotting my return to sample more of the menu sometime during the holiday season - I hear their Christmas decorations are spectacular!

Marla T.

Yelp
Their food has always been good. I love the historic mansion. It's cozy and has charm. All of the servers are excellent. She crab bisque is a favorite!

Dennis S.

Yelp
A very attractive historic home, with plenty of convenient parking. Really like the separate rooms, and how all the seating appears to be 4 tops with enough space between to have a private dinner. Overall Mere Bulles is a bit difficult to review, because while some of the positives are really strong, some of the weaknesses are really off putting. Started with the half shell oysters. Mistake, they were not properly shucked, it was a struggle to finish separating each on from its shell. Smallish in size, both east and west coast options, reasonably fresh, but wife had perhaps three of the dozen and deferred on the rest of the plate. Definitely not their best starter. Dirty martinis were really good, a nice balance between the gin and the brine, and the clearly house stuffed blue cheese olives are a treat. Excellent cocktail start. The house she crab soup is as good as billed. thick, rich, flavorful. A small cup goes down quickly, but it's rich enough that I don't think I'd want to upsize to the bowl. Decent selection of wine by the glass, and they were happy to let us sample a couple to help decide on a wine. The by the bottle options are a joke. It's a good selection, but they've doubled the usual restaurant pricing for each bottle, so the prices shown are completely laughable, then they feature on the menu how the bottles are always half price. Shows you how little they think of their clientele, pulling such a ridiculous stunt. But then I see a number of reviews that think the half price is some great deal, so perhaps a business underestimating the public works out fine sometimes. If you're a fan of wine, you'll find this tactic very off putting. Service was very friendly, but pretty spotty. It was a challenge to find out what the east and west oysters actually were or where they were from. The wait between starters and main courses was a very very long one. We saw all the tables around us being served bread, so we asked about and were told it's 'on request'. Not sure how we were expected to know to request it. The prime rib was quite good, and something I'd certainly get again. A generous portion, felt much larger than the 14 ounce cut ordered. It was done nicely to temperature as well. Wife also commented that her filet was nicely done as well. The sides were generous to share. Mashed potatoes were good, the two of us had our fill and left plenty on the plate. The mushrooms were a fun and unusual combination of interesting types, but I'd try something different next visit. It would be good to see a green veg side option other than just the asparagus. So overall a good restaurant with some easily improvable flaws. I'm certain we'll revisit, and will happily update this review with a better experience, though we might not rush to return.

Yelp
Mere Bulls is a place I used to love. Known for great food, atmosphere, and service it's well known. Then came 2020. Since, service and consistency have suffered. Last night was the worst. Arriving on time with a 9:30 reservation, it took about ten minutes to be seated. This was after having to chase down someone to help us. Once seated we ordered a bottle of wine and looked over the menu. As the server arrived with our wine... so did the manger. After having been in the restaurant for 20 minutes, he informed us the kitchen was closed, and we would not be able to dine. We arrived on time per our reservation, it was not yet closing time. We, regular patrons, were unceremoniously sent away. By this time, options were slim, but if you end up in this situation find your way to Fire Birds. They will provide the service we all deserve. #firebirds

Yelp
We have in the past had good experiences at Mere Bulles, but our latest dinner was terrible in almost every way. It was a Wednesday night, so we did not expect the slow service that we received nor the cold creamed spinach, nor the over-cooked steak, nor the fact that our server forgot to put in our wine order. No apology or excuse given, just presented with a $140+ bill for what was a (hopefully) forgettable dinner and a ruined evening out. We may try MB again at some point, but it will be a point far into the future.

Yelp
Had our wedding and Sunday brunch! It was beautiful with our private room and best of both worlds with endless food options... Classy, classic, attentive staff, great with details from our room set up to the food staying fresh and in abundance and private with plenty of warm inviting charm. Planning was easy and accommodating. Megan was our event planner and she checked in, followed up, clarified and gave me options! I really appreciated the tour ahead of time so I could imagine how I wanted to use the space. So so happy with the venue and food, I plan to return for brunch!

Yelp
We are a family of six that dined at Mere Bulles yesterday evening, and we received outstanding service from Cole C, our server. When my wife was trying to decide on a wine, he brought her two tastings to help. When my brother's steak arrived medium well instead of medium, Cole explained to him when it arrived that it appeared so and offered to replace it proactively. The food and atmosphere was also top notch. Highly recommend this Brentwood institution as a place to dine.

Sean S.

Yelp
Very good place with lots of options. The braised rib was fantastic. Highly recommend. This is a place for an occasion or just having lunch. A must visit for the Brentwood area.

Dylan K.

Yelp
The service was so wonderful here and the portions were huge. We came here with a group of 20 and they really took such great care of us which is no easy task! The steaks are my go-to but really you can't go wrong

Stephanie P.

Yelp
Always a wonderful experience here. The staff is top notch, the management is amazing, and the food is to die for. Love the bar options too!! A must visit!!!

Tom L.

Yelp
It's in a big old house serving very good food. The crab bisque is a must with every meal. Great for lunch but get there early

Laura J.

Yelp
I loved eating here. Always do!! Amazing food & the customer service is amazing. The vibe when you enter the restaurant is so welcoming!

Libby B.

Yelp
If you want to spend a lot of money and be treated like fort. Go here!! Sub par food and old and needs remodeled

Sherry W.

Yelp
Went for Sunday brunch buffet: 39.99 per person, 5 tables w an assortment of food that had action stations and deserts in another room, to include a chocolate fountain with strawberries and marshmallows (see website menus for details as pictured)... Although, price is somewhat steep, it's worth the treat... All entrees are made in house, down to the croutons for your salad... It's all so fresh tasting... Staff won't let the food containers become empty or allow the food to get cold... There is much attention to detail at this restaurant, as seen in presentation of entrees... Your treated with class, to mention, my waiter brought a steak knife immediately to my table when saw the prime rib on my plate because the table settings just had butter knives... Mere Bulle's stays full of patrons, but they are so attentive, you feel like your the only one there... The only reason i didn't give this place a 5 star is because I was looking forward to the Blackened Mahi Mahi listed on the menu... It did note there may be possible changes, and when i questioned why it wasn't served, i was told it's been hard to get in stock... I was a little disappointed, but it was replaced with good steak tips and rice (just not what i was hungry for)... The overall experience was incredible, and i will be returning to try lunch and dinner too... I must also add the ambience is very pleasing!

Brittan G.

Yelp
The crab bisque was delectable! I'd definitely go back for a dinner, the lunch seemed very empty and lacking on the menu but dinner was very nice!

Autumn N.

Yelp
My husband and I had a great anniversary dinner here. We prefer sitting at the bar so when seats were open, we chose to sit there instead of a table. The bartenders were very attentive and made the best drinks. Meg or Mag (I can't remember) was very knowledgeable and made the best old fashioned and espresso martini I've had. My husband agreed! We opted for the calamari, salmon, and braised short ribs. They were all tasty. We ended the night with the carrot cake. It was also delicious. It is such a warm, cozy restaurant. I loved all the wallpaper, tapestry, and fabric decor. We will definitely be back! It is nice to have a non corporate vibe restaurant in Brentwood!

Jim H.

Yelp
A Brentwood treasure! Great updated menu and a refresh of lounge and patio areas. The GM Kevin warmly greeted us and ensured we were comfortable. A professional and friendly staff. Our server Holly was exceptional. Every dish was delicious.

RJ E.

Yelp
My daughter chose Mere Bulles to host a b'day party for me earlier this week. Over 25 friends flew in from around the country to celebrate the moment. Service at MB from start to finish was exceptional. The staff was warm, welcoming and accommodating. The food, the food, the food, ah yes, the food at Mere Bulles was (and is always) exceptional. Rave reviews from all who attended. Not one complaint from any of my guests. My only complaint is that the MB building seems to have fallen on hard t times. Over 30 years ago when I moved to Nashville MB was one of the few top scale dining spots in Nashville. The food remains superb but the physicial conditions of the restaurant needs attending to. To access the private dining room you have to pass through unsightly storage rooms and peeling hallways. Once in the private dining room there's a big patch of masking tape in the middle of the carpet to hide what must be a tear in the carpet. Not a good look. My daughter did what she could to make the room to look festive and ready for the party.. But conditions were still a bit shabby. By the evening's end no one cared or noticed the drag space. Great friends. Great food. The party was the people. Still the restaurant needs to keep up with the times and makes some improvements to the building.

Bobby G.

Yelp
Usually Mere Bulles is fantastic. I have been going there for years and have always enjoyed the ambience, food and service. This particular outing was on Mother's Day, and it was absolutely miserable. Almost a $500 tab for a Buffet I could've gotten at Shoney's

Lexie L.

Yelp
The general manager and staff were all incredibly accommodating! We were seated on the enclosed patio but when we asked about the table by the fireplace inside the main room they surprised us and moved us there :) The food was so flavorful, and we were able to enjoy a dessert as a treat on the restaurant for being a first time visitor! Mere Bulles is a gem of a place and their hospitality is wonderful, it made for such a fun special valentines week celebration! Thank you Mere Bulles team!! We'll be back!

David B.

Yelp
Children running thru restaurant. Food underpar. We come here about twice a month for Sunday brunch. Prime rib severely undercooked. No flavor mac and cheese, gravy biscuits, blacked eyed peas had no seasoning and we added salt pepper, didn't help. For the high price, we expect better. Please correct. This was on Sunday July 30th 2023

Ira W.

Yelp
Great menu that changes with each season. Service is top notch. The patio has an excellent view of the grounds.

Stephen C.

Yelp
One of our favorite places! Our go to for special occasions. The chef always has great specials that taste amazing. The staff always makes us feel welcome, are very accommodating, and go the extra mile to make your celebration something extra. Set inside a beautiful old manor home, the ambiance is top notch as well. Highly recommend!

H. L.

Yelp
The food here is just plain awful. The steak was so hard to cut and tasteless. The room itself looks old and dingy. The service is mediocre and the check you receive will blow your mind. Why? Poor Brentwood, not a decent restaurant to save their lives and this one is supposedly one of their best......how unbelievable.

John W.

Yelp
Wonderful food! Wonderful ambiance! Went for our anniversary. Interesting dishes uniquely prepared that were just delicious. Make a reservation, especially on the weekend. Took the family back in August for brunch which was FANTASTIC! Had a great time and all of the stations were outstanding. Grandkids loved the chocolate covered crepes, the prime rib was awesome, the crème brûlée French toast should be illegal and the service was very attentive. Has become one of our favorite Brentwood restaurants.

Matt C.

Yelp
This place is classic and should always have a home here in Nashville. The food is always outstanding. We most recently came for the brunch on Sunday. We'd been before, but it had been a few years only because we were busy pumping out kids. But we braved the elements and decided to take them all with us and man, we didn't regret it. The brunch had gotten even better since we'd last been and was worth every penny. The staff was also amazingly professional, kind and patient with our little family chaos. We will be coming back again soon now that we've put us (and them) to the test!

James E.

Yelp
Went to this fabulous establishment for Easter dinner and WOW. Plenty of food choices including prime rim. The also offered breakfast which is delicious any time of the day. A Abundance of deserts and snacks. Or waiter was A1 spot on . They had it figured out Easter THANK YOU

Eric T.

Yelp
Only ever been here for the Sunday brunch. It's always really good. A touch expensive but they have all the staples of a great brunch. And the food is great.

Candy C.

Yelp
Great restaurant and awesome atmosphere. Service was super slow as they were short staffed. .

Bruce A.

Yelp
Sunday brunch was a big disappointment. I was looking forward to a good prime rib but it was bad. It was raw from about a 1/2" in and tough as shoe leather. There was some special French toast that was crispy on top and soupy below. Not good. The smoked salmon was the best thing there. Everything else was good but average. Our $30 bottle of wine is less than $7 at the wine rack but good. Service was good, not great, and when you get your own food should you tip 20%? Dilemma. I don't recommend the Sunday buffet.

Mark T.

Yelp
I had lunch there today. What a disappointment. I enjoyed the Cobb Salad so much on a previous visit that I was anxious to get back and have it again. Unfortunately there was absolutely no similarities in the one I had today and the one I had several weeks ago. I ordered the "large" one. The lettuce was different. The salad dressing was different. Last time it was creamy and flavorful. This time it had an almost sour taste and was harsh. Once again I ordered blackened chicken. Last time it was truly blackened, and a nice size portion of chicken. Today it was 3 small strips of chicken sitting on the side of the salad bowl, and instead of it being blackened, it looked like they had grilled it and then sprinkled some type of powdered rub on it. Had this not been a business lunch I would have sent it back. So my question is this. Have they intentionally changed the salad from a couple of months ago, or on one of the two visits did someone make a mistake in how it was prepared? If what I had today is the norm, never again. For the most part I still like this restaurant, but today if it had not been for several good experiences in the past, I would've left 1 star instead of 2. Service was attentive, and we had a nice table, but that doesn't offset really bad food.

Genee S.

Yelp
My fav place to eat in Brentwood! Everything is always impeccable and they're so accommodating!

Quionna M.

Yelp
The brunch was ok, nothing to write home about. Nothing bad to say it was just mediocre food. Wouldn't go back but it was a good experience with friends.

Scott F.

Yelp
I came here with a group of twenty or so; these were people I had been with in meetings all day. Our server was Russ, who is a consummate professional. He waited on us single handedly and managed to pull it off without a hitch. The food was just wonderful and we all enjoyed ourselves. Some of the highlights, the Charcuterie Board, the Bruschetta, and the Prime Rib which was divine. The beautiful old mansion was the perfect atmosphere and the grounds were immaculate. What a nice evening we had.

Connie L.

Yelp
Wonderful food and Service!! Great Spot for Special Occasions!!! So Welcoming, Love!

Annette M.

Yelp
My husband and I dined here about a week ago to celebrate his birthday. Days have passed and we are still talking about our experience here. The food was phenomenal, but the service was what made our time here so special. Our waitress was kind and poise, and not to mention, very funny. She was extremely knowledgeable when it came to the menu options and the extensive wine selection. She was quick to answer any questions we had, and we felt as if we barely had to lift a finger. We will definitely be celebrating birthdays here in the future. Thank you for making our night SO special Madison. We will be back!!

Blair B.

Yelp
Love the ambiance of the restaurant, but was very disappointed in the food. I ordered a caesar salad to start and it was pretty bland. For my meal I had the 4-cheese ravioli. The langoustine overpowered the entire dish and so I only ate a few bites. Another person at my table also ordered this dish and was highly disappointed. Others at the table enjoyed their meals and the service was excellent, but just a warning to others - do not order the ravioli!

S T.

Yelp
Mere Bulles never fails to be delicious. It's great for a nice luncheon or dinner. I love the atmosphere, too. Set in a historic home, the seating is quaint enough for intimate meals, both inside and out. However, there's a great amount of space for parties, too... I absolutely love the Charleston She-Crab bisque. It is so rich and tasty. The fruit tea is so southern and a must - even if you have to cut it with some unsweetened tea. A side I recommend (had as an appetizer) is the Roasted Brussel Sprouts...it was so crispy and flavorful. I ordered the Butternut Beet Salad with Salmon. The combination of the salad's bittersweet crunchiness with the salmon was perfect. The salad was a great portion as well. Try Mere Bulles today!

Nick R.

Yelp
I have been here for Christmas Eve dinner the last couple years and it's just amazing. The service, food, ambiance, half priced wine! Everything! It's a great dining experience and I plan on keeping this a tradition for years to come.

Nushina P.

Yelp
I really am such a sucker for places that have an interesting history and I always hope that the history of the place is complemented by the current happenings. In this case, naming a restaurant "Mother Bubbles" told me I was in for a treat and I was not disappointed. I think Mother Bubbles would be proud of what's being served here and Mr. Ward wouldn't mind that his love of entertaining is carrying on in his absence. Everything was delicious. As you can see we had a nice variety of food. The prices are actually on the low side for the portion IMHO. We will make this a repeat must when we find ourselves in Brentwood.

Rachel L.

Yelp
Stellar. First, the grand entrance. You pull up to the restaurant and are greeted by beautiful crepe myrtle trees and can't help but smile. Gorgeous old home turned restaurant... so very southern in the best way. Food. I ordered the Caesar salad, the 6oz filet and some crispy Brussels sprouts for the table. Caesar: spot on. Homemade dressing is tart, bright with fresh lettuce and seemingly made in house croutons. Filet. Ordered medium rare and it came out medium. They have you slice into steak with them there to ensure satisfaction. I let my server, Maggie, know and they remedied it so quickly! Once I had a fresh (perfectly cooked) medium rare filet it was one of the best I've had. Grass fed cut from Colorado, amazing. Brussels steal the meal. Wow. The jalapeño honey was spicy and sweet and perfect. The veggie itself was like little chips. Addictive. As a first time guest you get a free dessert and we got the strawberry shortcake. Hint hint: GET THE STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE. Service. Maggie was wonderful. Kind, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. I cannot say enough lovely things about Mere Bulles. Please experience it for yourself. I'll be back!

Heather W.

Yelp
Amazing dinner & service! Loved everything from the fried artichoke appetizer to the fall pasta special. Had a bite of my husbands steak and it was deliciously tender. This is a hidden gem in Nashville. I've lived here for 20 years and have never been but will definitely be back!

Linda G.

Yelp
I've been going to Mere Bulles for many years. Today's lunch was a disappointment. My crab bisque was lukewarm. The lettuce in my Cobb salad was not fresh and crisp but was wilted and not very good. For the prices the meal should have been better.

M P.

Yelp
Longstanding local restaurant with excellent service and many great dining options in an ambiance of an old plantation house dividing the dining area into small cozy units. Must try if in Brentwood.

Brandon O.

Yelp
We celebrated our daughter's graduation at Mere Bulles and it was fantastic. Our server (Russ) did a great job. Russ suggested the She-Crab Bisque and it was an amazing starter. Around the table our main courses included Filet Mignon, Swordfish, Short Rib and Shrimp & Grits. Each member of our party reported that their meal was very good! A warm, celebratory Carrot Cake finished off the meal. Yum! Great place to go for special occasions.

John S.

Yelp
A fantastic place for an early happy hour which starts at 2pm. Great selection of food and salads. Our bartender Taja was very attentive and friendly, she made the afternoon more enjoyable. The crostini was really really good

Debi S.

Yelp
I'd come to Mere Bulles years ago for their incredible Sunday brunch and really pleased to see this lovely restaurant still going strong. I loved the dinner options! Great portion sizes, excellent service from Ron and delicious meals. The old fashioned cocktail exceeded my expectations. Extra points when a restaurant has sufficient hassle free parking. Everything that went by looked and smelled really good. Definitely planning to come back for brunch and for dinner.
