"Gavin Job creates some powerful good Neapolitan-style wood-fired pizza at his modern Italian eatery Meribo, a loose translation of “southern food” to Italian. That means you might see collard greens and local mushrooms on that wood-fired pizza and a crawfish boil gnocchi made with Louisiana crawfish tails and sweet corn. At brunch, the trashy tator tot hash with smoked pork shoulder and pimento cheese is epic." - Beth D'Addono

Yelp
This place is lovely. Brunch is the best! I've been back several times already! The cocktails are really nice. I loved the expresso martini. The brunch carafe of mimosas was a hit too!

Yelp
I had my daughter's 16th birthday party on the patio in April. I would definitely recommend Meribo. The family style pricing was very fair and reasonable (we ordered salad, 2 sides, and 2 types of pizzas, and had 16 guests). The server was very friendly and attentive! She was great with bringing drinks, checking in with guests, making us feel welcome, and boxing the leftovers. The only reason I'd give 4 stars is because we were not advised prior that we would be charged a service fee for using a credit card to pay for the party... had I known prior, I would've brought cash to save the $60 in "service fees."

Yelp
Great place to go for a date night or to bring the family. Amazing food, great service and wonderful atmosphere. My favorites are crispy brussels, chicken parm, the Vinnie and muffuletta pizzas. It's a must go in Covington.

Richard C.

Yelp
Service- AWFUL- rude server, stink badly of smoke, seemed bothered to be serving us. Also, they're severely understaffed. Slow on both food and drinks. Had to ask for water. Food- excellent pizza. Atmosphere- nice, but loud.

Andi F.

Yelp
I was in the area doing something else and was getting hungry. I saw this, and the good reviews and stopped in. I am so glad I did. Good service, great food. The biscuit was delicious, eggs superb, bacon extra crispy.

Yelp
Meribo. The name combines the words: Meridionale (southern) and Cibo (food), and one did not disappoint. My wife and I have spent little time on the Northshore, but this little gem definitely impressed us. It is located just off the main street in downtown Covington, and is super cute. The restaurant was only about 1/3 full at 2pm on a Saturday, so we were seated promptly. The building has tons of large windows that let in lots of natural light. There is a large patio as well, but it was so hot out that we stayed indoors. The servers look like they are all in high school, but they were all very nice. The food all sounded wonderful. We ended up getting the whipped ricotta appetizer and the brussel sprout pizza. They were both good but the whipped ricotta was fantastic. I could eat that any day. The Brussel sprouts pizza was good, but not great. I would happily eat the pizza again, but I'd probably try some of their other pizzas first. Ambiance: 4.5 stars Service: 4 stars Food: 4.5 stars Value: 5 stars

Yelp
Used to really enjoy this place but long waits, rude staff, irregular hours, closing early, and arriving to be told at 2pm they wouldn't seat 2 people because of an event "later" in the evening is pretty disappointing.

Mark H.

Yelp
Well ran, food is excellent. Pretty little place and great layout. Owner/chef I hear won some awards. Great for the town and a solid little place.

Candice A.

Yelp
We enjoy most of the lunch and brunch items. We have not had much of the dinner. The daily specials are great. Happy Hour Drinks. Happy Hour Pizza. Great service always. Love the renovations for spring and summer!

Bailey B.

Yelp
Incredible food. Try everything at least once! My favorite is the crab spaghetti and agnolotti!

Ashleigh P.

Yelp
Everything was absolutely delicious from the service to the food. The tater tots are also a great app you cant go wrong! The linguine and rigatoni are simple but very good. If you want to branch out the casarecce with wild boar was 10/10. As for the pizza the vinnie always steals the show :)

Jeannine R.

Yelp
Excellent Pizza, top quality ingredients but not very well run establishment. Ordered Pizza to go and waited and waited and waited...... Finally someone checked on the order and it seems like it was overlooked and now we waited some more. Don't order the salad!!! $13 for some chopped Iceberg lettuce is a bit much.

Lee W.

Yelp
Go here... Wow, that was GREAT pizza (Neapolitan style). Staff was awesome, drinks excellent and during "Happy Hour" one of the best deals around

Angel C.

Yelp
Omg SO delicious! This was my 2nd time coming back for the muffuletta pizza. We tried the crispy Brussels sprouts as well and they were also amazing. Espresso martinis 10/10! I can't wait to try everything on their menu!!

Janet W.

Yelp
Food was great. Italian food with a twist. Unconventional but it was delicious. Our server was very nice and cheerful. Love the atmosphere.

Dennis W.

Yelp
Upscale Italian food and pizza. Food was good but a little more unconventional than I aim for. Service was good and friendly. Bright, open floor plan which is not crowded. Just a bit loud at times, maybe because of hardwood floors and open spaces. Not a bad place at all, just not my kind of place most of the time.

Lori G.

Yelp
I arrived at 11 AM, as soon as they opened and I chose to sit at the bar. Loved the seating and the modern vibe of the spot. Especially loved the Artuc Monkeys, which were playing. Started off with a melograno Paloma cocktail, which proved to be delicious! So many choices so I stuck with the simplicity of linguini and some skillet bread, both were delightful, the bread was light and fluffy and perfectly prepared. The bartender was a very nice and attentive server, even while faced with stocking the bar. I will return soon to try something different and look forward to that visit!

Ahmad A.

Yelp
In the middle of the day when it's hot and you're doing the lords work at the public defenders office, it's refreshing to go out as a team to get some wood fire pizzas. Must get the Brussels sprouts to start! Can't go wrong with any of the pizzas. The service was very good as they anticipated our needs and the ambiance was shockingly modern. Very nice spot on the inside.

Lindsay H.

Yelp
What a racket this guy has going, just on water alone! You sit down, they ask you what you want to drink, you say iced water, assuming you will get tap, which is what you get literally every other place you go. And if , at other places, you have an option, they would tell you they offer bottled for a fee. Not here. You ask for iced water and they bring you a bottle of water and don't tell you there will be a $3.00 charge till the bill comes. Not cool. Please inform me when you plan to charge me for something I assume is free (like tap water).

Nicole M.

Yelp
Food is good but it is very loud in there. Brussels are really good and its a decent pizza for sure!

Alanah D.

Yelp
Brussels we're very greasy & the cacio de Pepe was very bland. Everything else was delicious!!

Katie A.

Yelp
Delicious! Brussel sprouts are always a hit. Agnolotti was amazing. I will certainly get it again. I get the pizzas pretty often too. Brussel sprout and the rocket are my 2 favorite. Fiancé loves the pepperoni. The bee sting mule and the bubbles and bliss were very tasty. Service was fantastic. Thank you guys for a wonderful evening out.

Georgia C.

Yelp
The food is ok. Not the best, bathrooms are clean though. The service is great but probably short on staff because it takes very long time for food to arrive. Good place take children!

Nate J.

Yelp
Great place for a date or the family! Pizza is fantastic, drinks are great and the service is fantastic!

Nick A.

Yelp
We came here tonight after seeing Santa at the Southern. We've been before it's always just been ok, but my wife works in the area and seems to enjoy the pizza....until tonight. First of all, we seemed like a nuisance to the hostess. Second, we were told that we wouldn't be served for a little while despite having been a at at a table and plenty of servers were kinda just mulling about. Then the servers walked directly passed our tables to service other tables that were sat after us! What the heck!? Our server was a nice person, but not attentive at all. I understand that during this time, staff is in short supply to work especially after a holiday, but that didn't seem to be the issue here. As for the food-sloppy and uninspiring. We had two pizza which had enough grease to lube heavy machinery...cheese slid right off the pie. I ordered a chicken sandwich which was the worst chicken sandwich I have probably ever had-hard sesame seed bun with over fried, dark piece of chicken that was as thin as my hand. No flavor to speak of other than burnt hot flavor. The only saving grace were the tater tots. That's it. Also it was happy hour so prices were reasonable. I'm not really sure what this restaurant is going for in terms of style-I think they think they are more hip than they are which is half their problem. I likely won't be back.

Melanie B.

Yelp
This was our first time at Meribo and we had amazing food and service! I didn't care for anything on the drink menu but they fixed me an Ameretta sour off the menu that was so delicious! We will be back , trying to make reservations now! One of our new favorite spots! We can't wait for broussels and ham and cheese pizza again!

Lauren T.

Yelp
Food, service, & atmosphere were fantastic! We had a large group so we order a few dishes to share. Everything was great! My two favorites were the chopped salad and the rigatoni cacio e pepe! Delicious

Joanna S.

Yelp
I have been here a few times, and the food is always great! Prices are average of $15 and higher, and the portions are perfect. The pastas and pizza are my favorites, they are fresh and flavorful every time! Service is also great, my only complaint is it's very loud, not sure if the remodel changed this but it's very noisy. Otherwise I enjoy my visit every time!

Megan A.

Yelp
We had a group of 17 out on the patio and Christina, our waitress, was amazing! She was a great sport, patient with us and had a great sense of humor. This is why we often eat at Meribo when we have a large group. They accommodate us, the service is great and the food is always awesome too.

Amber C.

Yelp
Pizza? Undercooked dough, inedible. Extra charge for a few leafs of arugula for a subpar burger. Waitress did not ask if we wanted tap or bottled water. Very over priced for mediocre food.

Catherine S.

Yelp
have loved this place for years, especially the happy hour and ladies night!!! our go to spot for pizza!! would recommend to anyone!!

Faith A.

Yelp
Y'all. This is the best pizza in the state. I first discovered Meribo's delicious pizza when they were located in Pythian Market in New Orleans. Since they closed that location I have driven thrice from New Orleans just to eat here because it's THAT good. Now anytime I find myself on the other side of the lake I make it a must to stop for delicious pizza! My favorite is the Sopressata pizza. Don't sleep on this one, it's so yummy. I don't even like olives on pizza, but these are something else. So if you are like me and ordinarily would say "no olives please" take a chance and get it, I promise it will change your life. Everything is made from scratch and the ingredients are high quality. I believe this is what makes their pizza stand out so much from the competition. My favorite apps are the Brussel sprouts and pimento cheesy tots. The portions are generous so perfect for eating family style. I also enjoy the crunchy Caesar salad. The service is always good and everything they've recommended has been great. Make sure you try this local gem out!

Lauren C.

Yelp
Food and service was great, decor was beautiful. Everything fresh. Love the fancy bread oven and the homemade dressings and sauces. So much better than another dumb chain restaurant. Will definitely come again. My son wouldn't let me eat his leftovers. Tried food from every category on the menu.

Chad M.

Yelp
My wife and I love the Brussel sprouts & pizza! We always enjoy the environment and service at Meribo. Happy hour is the secret gem here.... Maybe not a secret... because everyone knows and enjoys the happy hour menu!

Kiley H.

Yelp
The food is always really good! The best time to go is during happy hour when the pizzas and drinks are half off!

Alyson N.

Yelp
The service was excellent and the food was DELICIOUS! I can't wait until my next trip to the Northshore to visit again!

Sarah F.

Yelp
We love Meribo. The food never disappoints, and they have the best ladies night on Thursdays, which includes $5 - $6 specialty drinks, (including house bubbly) and even includes some pizzas.

Sarah B.

Yelp
Made reservations for a busy Friday night 3 days prior such a good decision. From the appetizers to the entrees, everything was absolutely delicious. The crab meat spaghetti was worth every carb. Whipped ricotta, flash fried greens, and hot tots were also delicious. Ham and cheese pizza drizzled with yummiest truffle honey. Service was great, and made me feel incredibly safe by asking us to wear masks when not at the table. Can't wait to come back!

Steve H.

Yelp
Fantastic pizza, cocktails and craft beer. Great service. Wonderful neighborhood pizza joint. Happy hour all day on Wednesday!

Youngone K.

Yelp
The pizza was fine but not all that great. I love mushrooms but wasn't all that thrilled by my shrooms pizza. The cocktails were very good. I loved my fig & rose. We got there around 5:45 pm on Friday and it was deafeningly loud. It seemed to be popular but you couldn't hear the person sitting directly across from you without yelling. I definitely wouldn't recommend sitting inside for a date night. Children were running around like it was a bit challenging of a social interaction and I wouldn't go out of my way to pick up from here. Outside seating would be nice if the temp wasn't too bad. I might come back again for happy hour during the week, and I'm glad we gave it a try.

Linda S.

Yelp
Amazing food. The Brussel Sprouts are my favorite. The mushroom pizza was delicious as well. Definitely coming back.

Goku Z.

Yelp
Never had a bad meal here. Or a bad cocktail. The Wednesday all day pizza happy hour has gotta be the best bang for your buck in the whole New Orleans metro, definitely in Covington by a wide margin. The crowd is usually a northshore stepford wife kind of vibe though... children of the corn looking kids abound. But I haven't been sacrificed or absorbed into a cult yet. Yet

Brittany B.

Yelp
Recently came with friends around Christmas time. We came on a Wednesday, and the deals on pizza & drinks are unbelievable. We each had two cocktails and split three different pizzas plus a pasta. We had tons of food and everything was delicious! We always bring out-of-town visitors here for a great meal!

Tiff D.

Yelp
I write this review as I stuff wild mushroom pizza into my face, so it may be bias. This may be one of the best pizzas in nola. It's perfectly charred, thin, and crisp. Brick oven style. Which is hard to find in nola. Happy hour till 7 is $9 pizzas. Get yo self a pie and sit at #bar1908. You wont regret it.

Wes C.

Yelp
What a great find in downtown covington! Unfortunately I had a big lunch , but I wanted to try the place before I left town! Service is truly Louisiana friendly and I sat outside in the patio area. They have a wonderful menu with lots of choices. I decided to try two of their appetizers. The Brussels sprouts and the meatballs. Both were excellent! I would have liked the meatballs to be a tad warmer temperature wise, but I understand it's tough to make fresh ones for each order. Flavor wise, they were excellent. The crusty bread that goes along was also amazing! Will definitely be back!

Collin L.

Yelp
Amazing happy hour. Has great drink specials and $8 pizzas. Turtle cannoli is one of the best deserts I've ever had.

John B.

Yelp
EDIT: They've explained and apologized for making a mistake. Since I'm not on the North Shore on a daily basis, I'll change this review for now, and perhaps give them another chance in the future. This pizza place has a branded offshoot at the Pythian Market in new Orleans, and despite not having the best experience there, I gave the mother restaurant a try. The place is an impressive building, very airy and very Southern. The menu isn't quite the way I would have it (they like egg on salads a lot more than I do, for one thing, and they like vegetable pizza toppings less than I do), but of what I wanted to try, the "hot tots" were a quintessentially Louisiana thing in that I felt bad for ordering them because of the indulgence, but they were delicious. They come with spiced pimento cheese not as a side dip but melted into the pile of tots, which must be about a whole potato's worth and come in a hot iron skillet. On the pizza side, I'd hoped the food hall location had underrepresented their pizza, but it was much the same. The crust a bit too thin for my liking and tasted rather bland, with a sprinkling of sea salt-atypical for a margherita-apparently meaning to rescue it. Still, I would otherwise rate them better. The reason for my dissatisfaction is that despite eating during their happy hour, I didn't get the happy hour price on that pizza, with no explanation as to why. One could argue I should have handled it in the restaurant, but I really shouldn't have to litigate something that they do every day. The way I read their (very generous) policy, it's half price on pizzas 3-6 every day when you dine in, weekends included, regardless of whether one sits at a table or the bar. I hope it's not their business model to fail to honor their trademark deal (one that even the food hall location has a version of) unless you call them out on it. So unless I get some sort of explanation, I must register my disapproval.

brette a.

Yelp
Meribo is one of the best for a fresh pizza. You can't go wrong with any but the Soppresato and the Margherita are the best. They use the freshest ingredients and you can tell when you eat it. The service is incredible always willing to give a great recommendation. The wood fire artichoke is also another amazing dish. I've gotten it as my meal and as an appetizer and it's plenty to share! We love to do friends nights at Meribo with their cheery atmosphere and amazing food.

Kristal W.

Yelp
Great food and drinks. The pizza is brick oven style and not processed. They have decent drinks, too. Wednesday is their special day where the pizzas and drinks are cheaper.

Scott L.

Yelp
Ventured into downtown Covington for a brunch/lunch with my Foodie Krewe and discovered this little gem that - for me - was hidden - but clearly not hidden at all for a lot of people. Following the helpful comments by previous reviewers we tried several of their signature cocktails - which were all well-made - and my favorite discovery was the "Grammy" - a surprisingly simple combination of Disaronno & Orange Juice. Delightful. For an app we shared the crispy Brussels which could have been a meal all by themselves and then shared three of their pizzas - a Brunch pizza with breakfast like things on it, and then two others that were my favs. The Margarita pizza was simple yet well balanced and very tasty in an understated sort of way. I was surprised by the flavors honestly. The "Shroom" was heartier, cheesier, and more bold in its flavor profile and equally delicious. Kate was our server who was always there and never hovering. Will definitely come back to sample other parts of their menu!
