EDIT: They've explained and apologized for making a mistake. Since I'm not on the North Shore on a daily basis, I'll change this review for now, and perhaps give them another chance in the future.
This pizza place has a branded offshoot at the Pythian Market in new Orleans, and despite not having the best experience there, I gave the mother restaurant a try. The place is an impressive building, very airy and very Southern.
The menu isn't quite the way I would have it (they like egg on salads a lot more than I do, for one thing, and they like vegetable pizza toppings less than I do), but of what I wanted to try, the "hot tots" were a quintessentially Louisiana thing in that I felt bad for ordering them because of the indulgence, but they were delicious. They come with spiced pimento cheese not as a side dip but melted into the pile of tots, which must be about a whole potato's worth and come in a hot iron skillet. On the pizza side, I'd hoped the food hall location had underrepresented their pizza, but it was much the same. The crust a bit too thin for my liking and tasted rather bland, with a sprinkling of sea salt-atypical for a margherita-apparently meaning to rescue it.
Still, I would otherwise rate them better. The reason for my dissatisfaction is that despite eating during their happy hour, I didn't get the happy hour price on that pizza, with no explanation as to why. One could argue I should have handled it in the restaurant, but I really shouldn't have to litigate something that they do every day. The way I read their (very generous) policy, it's half price on pizzas 3-6 every day when you dine in, weekends included, regardless of whether one sits at a table or the bar. I hope it's not their business model to fail to honor their trademark deal (one that even the food hall location has a version of) unless you call them out on it. So unless I get some sort of explanation, I must register my disapproval.
