"This Peruvian restaurant serves excellent traditional Limeño dishes like lomo saltado and papas a la huancaína, but it’s the more innovative dishes that are the real draw here. Quinoa-crusted shrimp with tart Amazonian camu camu syrup is something you’ll rarely find outside of Peru. There is even a dish of corvina in a Peruvian ají chutney that really works. The menu also features many pasta and risotto dishes." - ryan pfeffer

Quinoa-crusted shrimp with tart Amazonian camu camu syrup is something you’ll rarely find outside of Peru. There is even a dish of corvina in a Peruvian ají chutney, the Indian-inspired spices combining with imported Peruvian chile peppers in an unexpected way that really works. The menu also features many pasta and risotto dishes that take me back to Lima’s old-school trattorias run by Ligurian immigrants. The trigo, a wheat berry risotto with mushrooms, tastes just like what I used to eat at Pastificio Ligure with my dad as a kid." - Carlos C Olaechea

Merkado 31 in North Miami Beach is, without a doubt, my favorite Peruvian restaurant in the area. I’ve had the pleasure of bringing all my friends and family here, and every visit has been a culinary delight. The food is consistently top-quality, and I’ve had the opportunity to try almost the entire menu. Standouts include El Pescado a Lo Macho, which is bursting with rich seafood flavors that never fail to impress. Another favorite is La Chaufa Mixta, cooked to perfection every time, with a perfect balance of flavors and textures. The Causas are all delicious, offering a variety of flavors to suit every palate. And don’t forget to try La Chicha Morada, a sweet and refreshing drink that complements the meal beautifully. You can’t go wrong with the classic Lomo Saltado, which is always prepared with tender beef and fresh vegetables. Their Ceviches are always incredibly fresh, showcasing the best of Peruvian seafood. The staff at Merkado 31 is attentive, kind, and ensures a wonderful dining experience. They are knowledgeable about the menu and happy to provide recommendations. Parking is conveniently located in the back, making it easy to access the restaurant. This location is my go-to because the food and service are consistently excellent. Whether you’re a Peruvian food aficionado or just looking for a great meal, Merkado 31 is a must try. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a memorable dining experience.

I visited the Aventura location for late lunch on saturday, it was not busy to wait in line like the NMB location, so for me was perfect, we were a party of three and we had the causa sampler for starter and the mushrooms risotto, pescado a lo macho and linguini de Mare. Everything was delicious and the portions are great, I even had to bring home some leftovers. Definitely coming back to this location, the service is amazing and loved the ambience.

My husband and I grew up eating Peruvian chicken with their classic yellow and green sauce in the DC area. Since moving here, it took us 6 years to find yellow sauce anywhere in South Florida that exceeded our expectations. Their pollo a la brasa is excellent, it’s roasted and seasoned perfectly. Their accompanying sauces are blended and tastes perfect. My husband got the jalea and the seafood was fried perfectly. That’s hard to find! The pickled onions were chef’s kiss and the tallarin verde bistec was so rich and cooked a la dente. The bistec was tender and you can tell it was a great cut of beef. We live about 45 min away but we will become frequent visitors because it is worth the drive visiting this restaurant.

Here’s the translation: We visited Mercado 31, a Peruvian restaurant, based on good reviews. Catalina served us kindly and was very knowledgeable about the menu. We tried a sangria and a pisco sour, both delicious. For our main dishes, we chose the “tallarines con lomo” and the beef risotto, both well-seasoned and perfectly cooked. The place is nice and clean. I would only suggest using a bit less salt in the dishes. Another thing that caught our attention was that, even though there were only two of us, the bill already included a 15% tip. An excellent experience that I highly recommend!

Great place to enjoy fresh ceviche and anticucho which is cow heart. We had an amazing time every time we go to this spot.

Google
I just picked up a classic ceviche, it is uncured/raw - still PINK! Ceviche is supposed to be white and opaque not pink and translucent!!! I called and spoke to the manager, he told me it would "be ok in 5 minutes". I asked him, so you send food that is not safe to eat out the door?!? Go to Locura Marina on Miami Beach or Ceviche 305...Mercado 31 is disgusting, stay away unless you want food poisoning.

Google
Food is super delicious! There is not one plate that disappoints. All the meats are cooked to order and they are nice and juicy, cooked to your liking. Definitely recommend for Peruvian food! The service is great, everyone is super nice there.

Yelp
Food was amazing! having been to Peru several times I have come to love Peruvian food and. Mercado 31 is some of the best Ive ever had. Anticucho was FABULOUS! The Fettuccine Fruti do Mare was an absolutelytamazing fusion of Italian and Peruvian flavors. The service was absolutely perfect. Friendly, attentiv, but not overbearing. Here at 6:30 on a Friday evening and no one here...you have no idea what you are missing.

Yelp
Wow!!! Everything so good. I started with a traditional ceviche. It's so fresh with good portion, then I order 1/4 of chicken really good amazing price with black beans and salad de la casa, with 3 amazing sauces. To the end maracuya mousse, really really good. The place from outside didn't justify what you will find inside, really cozy place, and the service was really good, I seat at the bar and all the guys very professional and friendly special Romina, with the recommendation.

Juan Carlos C.

Yelp
Super delicious , good customer service and excelente experience. Good time to go with your family

Milacy D.

Yelp
This place was amazing! The portions were huge and delicious, we tried the lomo, pulpo, ceviche and pasta huancaina and all were amazing. We took half home because of how big it was. Service was very quick and the servers were attentive. The ambience is nothing special, casual dining. Well worth the drive from sunny isles. Better than the other local casual Peruvian spots.

Yelp
Food 5/5 Very good flavors and fresh ingredients Service 5/5 Angelica was awesome Ambiance 5/5 Very Nice - Relaxing Parking 5/5 Park in rear Value 5/5 Very reasonable

Ashley C.

Yelp
service and food is for the most part really good. Portions are decent. However, the ceviches are inconsistent, it's a hit or miss but aside from that, the place is pretty good. my go-tos are the tallarin de huancaina con lomo, tallarin verde con bistec.

Santi N.

Yelp
I came here for lunch hoping for a good meal since they had pretty good reviews but was not impressed. I got a lomo saltado and had asked for the meat to be cooked medium, it tasted and felt like it was cooked well done. The flavor was good/okay but the texture of some of the pieces of meat just ruined the dish for me. It was a bit hot and humid inside the restaurant as well which made the experience less enjoyable overall. The food took a while to arrive, there was a table of 3 guys that ordered after me and they somehow got their food first as well which didn't make sense. maybe my experience was a one off since they have good reviews but very disappointing to say the least. The waitress was nice except she forgot the coke that I ordered as well so I think she probably had forgotten to put my order in as well which is why it took so long

Marwan E.

Yelp
Hands down the BEST Peruvian restaurant in Miami. Seriously addicted to this place. The servers are always super sweet

Mariana S.

Yelp
A delicious taste of Peruvian cuisine in North Miami. From the strip-mall exterior you wouldn't think much of this place. However, when you walk inside this restaurant is decorated with lovely details that welcome you and create a pleasant dining experience. Every time I have visited Merkado the food has been perfect. The ceviche is authentic and fresh the causas are oh so flavorful and the anticuchos (one of the more difficult Peruvian meals to get right) always hit the spot. The only reason I'm not able to give all five stars is due to the service the last few times. The waitstaff is nice enough but I have been kept waiting on two separate occasions. Once waiting for my check for about 30 min (it was very slow) and the last time-- I was at the bar and saw my food come out to the window, the sever came and went a few times and about 15 min later brought me the food that had been left sitting. I hope they tighten up a bit and get things running a bit swifter. I'm happy to give Mercado another shot -- the food is worth it.

Yelp
We came for the first time here to taste Peruvian cuisine my son had the Shrimp Pappardelle, spaghetti with shrimps, he enjoyed it very much, my brother had chaufa mixto he also had very good comments about it, my wife had Lomo saltado, she was a bit disappointed with it because she asked for well done meat and it wasn't, sent it back to corrected it however it came back almost the same... I ordered lamb and it was delicious , I enjoyed every bite of it, well seasoned combined with white rice and Peruvian beans . Natural juices were also very tasty... service was very good our waiter came time to time to check with us and Thats enough for me. The music was a at perfect volume we could talk without the need to scream, something that was a downer for me was that the room was a bit too cold I could tell all the females were cold and not comfortable. The back entrance is a bit dirty, ceiling tiles are dirty and not being look after. It makes the restaurant feel a little bit dirty and they have someone take care of that it would be great. The lighting through the back hallway is very dim. Overall I would give a 3 stars for the room temperature and cleanliness, for being unable to cook the dish at the correct temperature. So close to get 5 starts. Overall food quality 4.

Denisse R.

Yelp
The food was tasty, service was great, & nice ambience. I recommend the Salmon Pappardelle. el

Yelp
I highly recommend this place. I have been there several times. The food and service are great. My favorite drink is the Panka Rita! So delicious! Martha is always friendly and attentive to the customers.

Yelp

Alex G.

Yelp
We were actually looking & suggested by a family friend a place called for "Chuyo" (mmaybe "Chuyos"). When we got to the location, it changed it's name to "Merkado 31". First of all, the wait for the food after ordering was MAYBE 7 min, I timed it. Granted it wasn't really occupied whatsoever besides my Dad & I, but in reality, it worked out in our favor. The Chorros a la Chalaca were FABULOUS!! Tip: add a few drops of lime juice & those fried corn kernels you see on the left side of the plate, BELIEVE ME when I tell you to add some to the Chorros. It's the HEAVENLY combination of soft with a secret crunch. The Tacu Tacu Limeño HIT THE SPOT. I do not have a single complaint, "Ehhh, this part wasn't that good." Add a few drops of lemon, I doubt you'll regret it. The drink you see is called

Chantal O.

Yelp
I love Peruvian food so I've been to this place a couple times. If you are driving on 163rd you will see the name of the restaurant and know where it is so you can park in the back. The back entrance is not glamorous but once you get it the decoration is really nice, there is a long hall for pick up orders where people can sit on benches while waiting. There is a host who can take you to your table once you pass the pick up area. The food was pretty good, we got the ceviche for two that includes the clasico, mixto and merkado. These include fish, shrimp, calamari and octopus. I was surprised to see that they also have a mushroom ceviche which I would like to try next time! Portions are a little small but we were OK since we were not that hungry plus they did give us a lot of canchitas (peruvian popcorn) Service was good, it wasn't too crowded so we got our food pretty fast. We did wait a little bit for the check but the waiter was really nice. A must try if you are in the North Miami Beach area!

Julien H.

Yelp
In my opinion one of the best place to enjoy a nice yet affordable Peruvian meal. We keep on coming for the great service and neat ambiance. Service is always great. Don't get fooled by the not so great location, this place is gold. I recommend. See you there!

Diana M.

Yelp
I came here when my friend recommended me and it was okay overall. The entrance was a little weird, since the gps took us from the back side. As soon as I entered the bathroom smell leaked... not a good impression. We ordered fresh strawberry juice and frozen chicha morada for drinks. Loved the juice but the frozen drink was too sweet for my taste. Our friend ordered ceviche and papa a la huancaina and he loved it. I ordered chaufa mixta (beef & chicken fried rice) and it was delicious but a little too salty. My husband ordered his salmon saltado and they forgot his order and it came out after 15mins our food came out. At least he enjoyed the dish. The server barely came to check up on us and we had to ask other server to get the server to come. We just wanted to pay and leave at the end. I might come back for the food but they service have room for improvement. They also charge 15% tips automatically so make sure you check it before you add more tip.

Maria A.

Yelp
My family & I have been coming here for years! Anytime anyone asks me for authentic Peruvian food recommendations (since we're perivuan) I always send them here. The food is always delicious, always taste fresh, price is right & with all the remodeling they've done over the years, it's really a vibe in there. They have a bar as well if you're dining alone or just looking for a quick bite when it's busy. Definitely recommend!

Anie R.

Yelp
Ok let's start by saying I'm truly sad disappointed that I'm going to give a negative review. I was recommended to go here for my sister & I really wanted to have some great delicious Lomo Saltado. Ok 1st directions lead us to the back entrance no big deal but yea looked like it was closed if it wasn't for that neon 'open' sign on the side of entrance. We go in they sat us down place looked nice. Waiter comes over takes our order, food comes out, fine. So at first when I look in how it's made it's a little different from what I'm use to normally 'for me' fries are mixed in with the meat, sauce etc. I noticed the sauce looked alittle darker than what I've had but we ate our dishes & at the time we thought it was good. Oh by the way our drinks that we ordered were delicious. So our server hardly came around we had to get some other server attention which living in Miami unfortunately this is common. Anyway fast forward we're home my stomach starts to act up & my sister is in the bathroom vomiting the food. I'm going to leave it at that. I don't know what happened or what the heck we ate but obviously something was not right. Like I said in the beginning I normally don't write these type of reviews but I'm a 'yelper' & I Yelp. Yes I give them 3 starts for the decor & for the drinks. Like the saying goes: You win some or you loose....I lost

Michelle L.

Yelp
I've been going to this place since I was a little kid and let me tell you they never let me down, it's mind blowing how the food just seems to taste better every time. My two favorites are el ceviche y el pulpo the flavors are just amazing they always taste amazing! The service is good and the ambiance is good as well I always bring a jacket because it's cold.

Yesenia F.

Yelp
The food is detestable. I ordered a steak medium and this is what they sent. I called the restaurant to let them know they forgot an item, sent an abismal dish, all after waiting one hour and 45 minutes. The lady was horrible. Told to drive over there to discuss it. Terrible food and service

Waleska M.

Yelp
Excellent service, food and ambience of the restaurant. Cozy, waiter very attentive, if you are looking for a Peruvian restaurant you need to stop by Merkado 31.

Sandra B.

Yelp
Have someone who is taking the orders have better comprehension. I asked for mussels in my soup and for some reason the lady couldn't figure out what I was asking for. A different person ended up calling me back and asked for clarification which I thought was great. Picked up my order... still no mussels. Your food is amazing when you get the order right but this is ridiculous to have to talk to three different people to get one simple thing added. Why should your customers have to navigate trying to order food that I am paying for the way I like it. No one is asking you to change your recipe, just wanted some mussels in my soup that I was more than willing to pay for.

Jon O.

Yelp
We we very excited to have dinner . We arrived but what were ordered was relatively good but the kitchen too slow. It took wat to long !!! service was just decent but could have been better !!! Hope that

Kathy K.

Yelp
This is literally me and my hubbys go to spot! Faves are the jalea which is such a generous portion, fettucine di mare which brings it with it's fantastic flavors and the grilled octopus. Every SINGLE drink is scrumptious. We aren't regulars for no reason. This is a hidden gem. Always great service and the ambiance is perfect too!

Rafael L.

Yelp
The food was ok. Very small portions and prices going up Bad the bad service was the night The waitress stat cleaning the restaurants areas and she forgot about the tables we have to asking for the check to other person But a soon I put my card on the table she runs to pickup Please when we will have a good service in miami ?

Sonya M.

Yelp
The Mixto-a combination of seafood, sweet potato and corn, in a delicious leche de tigre. The service was fast, friendly, clean establishment and relaxing ambience.

Maria Paula B.

Yelp
One of my Favorite Peruvian spots! Ceviche is always perfect! Been going to this place for over 3 years and haven't been disappointed once. From customer service (the girls are super nice always) to quality of the food! 100% recommended!

Buzz M.

Yelp
Yelp review The food is amazing!!! We love Peruvian food and this is truly authentic and delicious. The service and staff were excellent; very friendly. The atmosphere was nice and the other customers were super friendly too. We look forward to going again soon.

James B.

Yelp
Been here several times for different events. Great little Peruvian restaurant in NMB. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and comfortable inside. Service is excellent and the staff is very friendly and attentive. Food is very good my favorite is always the Lomo Saltado but the Cerveche is a must have. Believe me you won't leave hungry or disappointed.

Jesús R.

Yelp
si pudiera poner 0 estrellas se las pusiera siempre que compro mandan cosas que no son pedí un pollo con papas y me mandaron un pollo con arroz ya van varias veces que mandan cosas que no son y aparte se enojan si no dejas propina

QuanDale D.

Yelp
The only thing I could say is the food is a thing if you have the time, stop and buy ceviche, that and the Chicharon fish feels like your soul left your body. Service is amazing the staff is super friendly, and the ambiance looked amazing. The only thing I didn't like was they were playing the best music but in a more chill version

Oswaldo H.

Yelp
Been coming to the restaurant since it was just called Cholo's, I'm not the most loyal customer but chef Fabricio and his staff are always superb. The food quality is the one thing that has stayed the same and the interior improves every time you visit. You can see the hard work they've put into it. Food is art at this place, your senses are elevated by just looking at the food, tasting it even better. I always recommend the pollo a la brasa, chaufas and causas. I just found out that at the bar their signature cocktails are $8 all day. Fatima is the best bartender in the Miami area.

Pamela M.

Yelp
The food was great! Service also very good. There's a lot to choose from on the menu and I doubt they get much wrong. My friend and I shared two fish dishes and both were unbelievable: corvina cucho and salmon a la parilla. The corvina came with a tasty yucca mash (yucca is excellent if you haven't tried it, I describe it as a more dense potato). The salmon came with a decadent and hefty serving of pesto risotto which was wow, just wow. We shared a really light dessert as we were quite full and taking leftovers, so sharing the custard really did the trick. The fruits with it were tropical and my only criticism is that it tasted like fruit cocktail out of the can, just at the top of the custard itself. I am not sure if it was homemade to taste like that or if it indeed was from a can/jar - I kind of wish I'd have asked now just for my own curiosity. But still, it was a perfect ending to our meal.

Wendy O.

Yelp
This place is the best peruvian restaurant ive been to in miami! The lomo saltado is to die for and the chaufa was absolutely delicious. My absolute favorite thing was the ceviche!! The ambiance was great, very humble and cute. Our service was spectacular! We were taken care by Emir and he recommended us the best things and was very nice and attentive. He made our experience better in every way! Love it here

Alicia P.

Yelp
This Peruvian restaurant was highly recommended by my Peruvian best friend and Wow! It was perfection. I'm very spoiled and have high standards when it comes to Peruvian cuisine thanks to my best friend and her mom's cooking, and this place definitely gets a gold star. I ordered our meal to go and Merkado has an awesome and efficient take-out counter and the meal was ready on time. I do recommend you park in the back of the restaurant if you're ordering take out. We parked in the front and had to walk past the dine - in guests. Not a big deal, just a tip. We ordered a whole rotisserie chicken to share, along with appetizers which consisted of the tuna causa and the papá Huancaina. The chicken was juicy with a mild smoky flavor, DELICIOUS! The tuna causa was phenomenal. I wish this appetizer was a little bigger BUT, I can't complain because it was priced right. The papá Huancaina was top notch, I would buy a bucket of their Huancaina sauce if they sold it by the bucketloads. They really should! I've eaten in several Peruvian restaurants in the area and they never get this sauce right but Merkado delivered. No wonder my friend recommended, her home made sauce is the best I've ever eaten and she approves of Merkado's sauce! Lol Adding this restaurant to our fave restaurants list.

Deja L.

Yelp
Food and service sucks, food takes for ever to come out just for it to be nasty smh don't even waste your time

Gracie J.

Yelp
Came here to eat a late dinner after arriving in Miami. GREAT ceviche and octopus appetizer. A small, casual dining experience with live music. It felt like a very familial establishment and the service was positive. I would not hesitate to return for dine-in or take out.

cardiac c.

Yelp
You can't tell from the outside, but this a really cute and tasty neighborhood spot. Giacomo, our waiter, was great. I started off with the Panka Rita. It was delicious. Had it with Tajin on the rim to add a bit of spiciness. We had the special as an appetizer - Orgia Mariscos - it was huge martini glass full of corvina and shrimp in Rocoto sauce (other seafood options were available, but we omitted them) topped with fried calamari. Portion was great and enough for more than two to share. Be sure to ask for the spicy green sauce...perfect for dipping the calamari. Closed out with the shrimp chaufa. Saucier than I'm used, but delicious still. I recommend it for an unassuming dinner in the neighborhood.

Ana C.

Yelp
Very bad service. Asked for water twice, and literally had to walk to the bar to get it myself. Ambiance is nice, decoration is nice. Food is okay, not outstanding. The terrible service truly did not make the food any better. I am a manager and I deal with customer service on the daily ... this truly can make or break an experience. I was excited to come here today & left disappointed.

Daniel G.

Yelp
Delicious food. Will be definitely coming back. "Cocktails" are not really served with hard liquor, but are refreshing and enjoyable.

Jennifer V.

Yelp
Great food and great service. Found this place based on their Yelp reviews and I'm so glad I did. Giovanni, our waiter, was one of the nicest waiters I think I've ever had. He was so attentive and kind the entire time. Each dish was prepared well and tasted fresh. I'd definitely come back!!!

Samuel B.

Yelp
We went to Merkado 31 with some friends, celebrating birthdays and we all had a fantastic time. The Ceviche was one of the best ive had in awhile. Service was a 10, Food 10, Drinks 9, for a good price. We/I will be back soon!

Bianca L.

Yelp
This place is a little hidden gem in a small plaza in North Miami. I ordered a ceviche mixto for takeout so I didn't get to experience the inside seating which looked very nice. The staff seemed nice when I went to pick up my order, restaurant was clean as well. The ceviche was one of the best I have had, very nice portion and very good! Definitely recommend!

Mahamood A.

Yelp
Great restaurant one of my favorite restaurant in Miami the The bartender Carlos always take care of me great guy great food & and drink. Also great for take out one of my favorite Rotisserie chicken

Walmys L.

Yelp
Hands down my absolute favorite place. I usually come here a few times a month and I have never had anything less than delicious. Sometimes it gets really busy and you have to wait, but worth it!

Sib R.

Yelp
Hi, my name is Aiyaah. This is the best restaurant ever! The green pasta is fantastic! I will be back

Gennesis M.

Yelp
I google Peruvian place near me and went there with my co workers for lunch. The outside doesn't say much, but the inside of the restaurant is beautiful and clean. The food is AMAZING!!! Everything we ordered was delicious, fresh, and tasteful. Service is quick and friendly. The people that work there super friendly and helpful. I would definitely come back.

Andy T.

Yelp
A hidden treasure in North Miami Beach. Easy to miss but definitely worth the visit. Find this place! Very clean, nice ambiance, excellent customer service and one of the best Peruvian eateries I've had in the area. I ordered the Ceviche de Conchas Negras for the first time ever and highly recommend it. Please know that this amazing dish is only available on the weekends! I also ordered Grilled Octopus, Ceviche Merkado and Causa Limeña. Everything on point with presentation and taste. For dessert, try the Picarones and the Chocolate Cake with Lucuma Mouse. Delicious! And don't forget to order a passion fruit juice.. Definitely coming back. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
