Shipping container kitchen & bar with bay views & outdoor seating, serving elevated comfort fare.
"Treasure Island is still technically part of San Francisco — in fact, it offers the best views of the city from halfway across the Bay Bridge. Mersea is a restaurant built into an old shipping container, and the cafe serves comforting burgers, fish and chips, chowder, and cioppino." - Paolo Bicchieri, Eater Staff
"Offering bocce ball, vast open space for frolicking, and front-row views of the bay and city skyline, Mersea represents the ideal spot for whiling away a weekend afternoon with kids in tow. The menu embraces its Treasure Island location, with chowder and fish tacos mingling with burgers, pizza, and daily chef specials — and soft-serve ice cream or a classic Rice Krispy treat is always the move for kiddos. Wine, beer, and a sunny lineup of house takes on classic cocktails, including a few, oversized shareable spritzes, give the hard sell on Mersea’s appeal." - Laura Smith Borrman, Christine Gallary
"Escape across the bridge to Mersea, where a $30 lunch deal also buys you some pretty incredible views of the city." - Lauren Saria
"Built out of shipping containers and a military kitchen, Mersea is the island’s only all-day restaurant, and it’s just turned one year old. In that short time, it’s become a dining hub for Treasure Island’s local community." - Caleb Pershan
"The restaurant, Bauer notes, was built by tech veteran MeeSun Boice and chef Parke Ulrich, who also partnered on Waterbar and Epic Steak across the water on the Embarcadero. The pair, members of the Treasure Island Yacht Club had “lamented that they didn’t have anyplace to go after sailing.” Some of the menu, however, was also a bit underdeveloped. A few of the sandwiches, including the burger, were so “generously loaded” they were too messy to eat. The short ribs with spätzle gratin started out good before giving way to “a flash flood of grease.” The ricotta ravioli, on the other hand, “would be right at home” in a more formal spot like Waterbar or Epic. Even though “there’s certainly room for improvement,” the vibe makes it a likely place to find him and his dog, Bauer says, while taking the opportunity to identify the pedigree of his Brittany spaniel Sheba with more specificity than either the hamburger or the roast chicken on the menu. Two and a half stars." - Andrew Dalton
