Where to Eat London’s Best Dumplings | Eater London

"Most of the kibbeh people know are deep fried, cracking with bulgur wheat and immensely tasty. Those teardrop mincemeat dumplings can be found at (Lebanese) Yasmina in Acton and (Iraqi) Juma in Borough Market. But consider the boiled version, the purists choice, where they are sweet and sticky as gulab jamun, filled with syrupy meat juice. Those kibbeh, known in Turkish as icli kofte (see also, Hala) are the star of Dede Tantuni, where they are a must order alongside the titular tantuni itself." - Jonathan Nunn

The Best Dishes in London Restaurants This Week, By Eater Writers | Eater London

"Içli köfte are presented boiled rather than fried, yielding a compressed bulgur mantle that hides a gushing, spiced meat core; the result is a captivating, juicy take on the kibbeh-like dumpling that stood out even among a table of showier dishes." - Daisy Meager

Where to Eat in London’s Restaurant This Weekend | Eater London

"A lively spot now in Dalston serving excellent tantuni—succulent, fatty meat with onion salad and tomatoes wrapped in thin lavash—and simple but very satisfying desserts like künefe and ice cream. The tight, focused offering is presented as essential, local fare worth choosing over nearby chain options." - Shekha Vyas

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I recently visited Mersin Tantuni in Stoke Newington, and it was an amazing experience! The place has such a warm and authentic Turkish street food vibe — welcoming staff, quick service, and great presentation. 🍴 Food: I tried their famous Tantuni, and it was absolutely delicious — tender, flavorful meat wrapped in soft lavash with fresh onions, parsley, and tomatoes. You can really taste the quality and freshness of the ingredients. I also had Künefe for dessert, and it was the perfect sweet ending — crispy, cheesy, and perfectly balanced. 👨‍🍳 Service & Atmosphere: The staff were super friendly and made me feel comfortable right away. The interior feels cozy and captures the true spirit of Turkish street food. It’s also in a very convenient Dalston location, easy to get to.

Delicious! The cig kofte packed a punch! So flavourful, do not miss, but share a plate with your friends. Ek tantunis (the small £5 ones) were all delicious, though the classic lamb was my favourite (but mushroom also delicious). We shared 3, and they cut them in half without asking, which was a very nice touch.

Absolutely deserves a Guardian feature! The tantuni — both plain and with yoghurt — was absolutely delicious. You can really taste the quality and care in every bite. The künefe was just as impressive: perfectly balanced with the right amount of cheese, not too heavy, and not overly sweet like at so many other places. Everything was spot on. The staff were super friendly and welcoming too. Highly recommend this place — it’s easily one of the best I’ve tried in London!

Thank you to Hussein and the wonderful team that looked after us this evening. My buddy and I had a wonderful meal sharing the following dishes: - Chicken Kavurma - spiced up and delicious with rice. BANGING! - Lamb Tantuni with yogurt - OUTSTANDING! The lamb, the wrap, the yogurt - it had it all! - Kunefe - "good things come to those who wait" The food and service was fantastic throughout! This restaurant has been on my hitlist for a while and now that I've finally been here I can't wait to come back again. I would there 100% say that this is a MUST VISIT restaurant when in Dalston!

I visited Mersin Tantuni in Dalston and absolutely loved it! Both the tantuni and çiğ köfte were delicious, full of authentic flavour and freshness. The service was excellent; friendly, attentive, and welcoming. We were even offered complimentary köfte, just like a Turkish mom would make at home, such a lovely touch and full of nostalgia. A great place for genuine Turkish street food in London. Highly recommend!

I am beyond happy to have found this lovely place! When I lived in Türkiye almost 20 years ago I used to have tantuni, ayran and künefe all the time at a fantastic local place but had not found a legit tantuni place nor one that serves vegetarian tantuni anywhere else since (I’ve been veg for 15 years). It was such a joy to eat here today; I was taken straight back. The mushroom tantuni was juicy and oily exactly as a fabulous tantuni should be. Pickles on the side went perfectly with it. Homemade ayran was fantastic. Künefe and Çay to top it all off and every item was delicious! The decor and vibe of the place also transports you directly to Türkiye. The lovely lady that handles the restaurant as well as the lovely chef were both such beautiful souls as well. Cannot recommend this place enough. Run there now and get everything you can eat that day, seriously!

This place has a 4.9-star rating on Google, which initially caught my attention. That said, I’m a bit confused by the overwhelmingly high rating, as my experience with the food didn’t quite align. I made a trip after seeing it recently featured on social media and was hopeful, especially as someone who really enjoys Turkish cuisine. Unfortunately, based on what I ordered, I came away disappointed. Every dish we tried was noticeably over-salted and, aside from the chicken wrap and chips, quite oily. The mushroom tantuni and chicken wrap were both meant to come with pickles according to the menu, but none were included. When I asked, I was given what turned out to be mostly pickled peppers, not the cucumber pickles pictured on the menu. The chicken wrap had some extremely salty bites and was on the dry side. There was no sauce in it (perhaps you need to request it), but either way, it lacked depth of flavour. The Turkish tea was nice and strong and I enjoyed the accompanying flatbread with the kavurma. The meal came to £40 with no service charge. While that’s not unreasonable for London, the food didn’t deliver for me.

We wanted to come and try tantuni but was too full so ended up trying kunefe instead. It was the best kunefe we’ve had so far, even better than the one we recently had in Antalya. Fresh, crispy and goes really well with Turkish tea. Lovely service and nice atmosphere. Thank you!! We’ll be back next time for tantuni 🥰
