"An Asian and Mexican street food concept founded by executive chef Cara Davis, Jose Luis Hinostroza y Rodrigo Aspe, it's not fusion it's mestixaje"

"This is renowned Arca chef José Luis Hinostroza’s other Tulum restaurant, which now counts an additional branch inside the new Tulum Airport. Under the direction of executive chef Daniken Ramón, Mestixa effortlessly blends the street food traditions of Mexico and Asia. Wooden chairs and tables with wrought-iron frames contrast with inlay brick arches and eggshell-white walls, which feature a mural of a face-off between Quetzalcoatl and a Chinese dragon. East meets Yucatán in dumplings stuffed with cochinita pibil over a habanero sauce, or in Baja tacos loaded with shrimp tempura, furikake, mayonnaise, and ponzu sauce. On Bao Sundays, brilliant colors burst out of buns filled with pork belly or soft-shell crab, best paired with a mango and passionfruit daiquiri." - Bill Esparza
"Bustling Tulum is the perfect spot for Chef Hinostroza's second restaurant, Mestixa. This intimate spot beckons with its simple but welcoming ambience. Asian accents, including a snake mural and traditional lighting, hint at what's to come on this highly original Asian-Mexican fusion menu. Order the bao, deliciously stuffed with pickled pear, hoja santa, pickled cucumber and cashew macha sauce. Few dishes define this cuisine as well as the birria ramen, made with egg noodles, beef shank, cascabel chili, and tamarind. It's an excellent mix of textures, colors and flavors, and generously sized. Finally, a waffle taco is tucked with yuzu parfait, dried plum and caramelized white chocolate for a sweet sendoff." - Michelin Inspector
