"Bustling Tulum is the perfect spot for Chef Hinostroza's second restaurant, Mestixa. This intimate spot beckons with its simple but welcoming ambience. Asian accents, including a snake mural and traditional lighting, hint at what's to come on this highly original Asian-Mexican fusion menu. Order the bao, deliciously stuffed with pickled pear, hoja santa, pickled cucumber and cashew macha sauce. Few dishes define this cuisine as well as the birria ramen, made with egg noodles, beef shank, cascabel chili, and tamarind. It's an excellent mix of textures, colors and flavors, and generously sized. Finally, a waffle taco is tucked with yuzu parfait, dried plum and caramelized white chocolate for a sweet sendoff." - Michelin Inspector

The 24 Best Restaurants in Tulum, Mexico | Eater

"This is renowned Arca chef José Luis Hinostroza’s other Tulum restaurant, which now counts an additional branch inside the new Tulum Airport. Under the direction of executive chef Daniken Ramón, Mestixa effortlessly blends the street food traditions of Mexico and Asia. Wooden chairs and tables with wrought-iron frames contrast with inlay brick arches and eggshell-white walls, which feature a mural of a face-off between Quetzalcoatl and a Chinese dragon. East meets Yucatán in dumplings stuffed with cochinita pibil over a habanero sauce, or in Baja tacos loaded with shrimp tempura, furikake, mayonnaise, and ponzu sauce. On Bao Sundays, brilliant colors burst out of buns filled with pork belly or soft-shell crab, best paired with a mango and passionfruit daiquiri." - Bill Esparza

Every time we’re in Tulum, this is one of the first places we come back to — it’s become a must for us! The fact that it’s featured in the Michelin Guide is no surprise — the food, service, and atmosphere are all top-notch. The Asian-Mexican fusion menu is so creative and everything we’ve tried has been incredible. We especially love the shrimp tacos with that delicious ginger sauce, the chicken wings, potstickers, and of course the birria ramen — all bursting with flavor. The tuna tostadas are another standout — super fresh and perfectly balanced. The service is always fast and friendly, and the moody, stylish atmosphere makes it such a great place to relax after a day in the sun. It’s also pet-friendly, which we love — we were able to bring our dog and felt totally welcome. A perfect blend of flavor, vibe, and hospitality — no wonder it’s on the Michelin Guide. Highly recommend!

Fantastic flavor in every single dish. I especially recommend the tuna tartare, wontons in green curry, and the birria ramen.

We must have hit this place on a really bad night, December 27th. One of the worst dining experiences I've had in years. Our waiter Patricio introduced himself and said he "was in charge of our dining experience" but we didn't see him again until we needed to pay. Bad music was so loud we could not have a conversation without yelling. We waited well over an hour for our disappointing food and were told there was no bottled water or cold beer left. Our "pot stickers" were miniature fried wontons. We left hungry and hugely disappointed.

We had such an amazing experience at Mextiza! Patricio was our server and he made the night absolutely wonderful — so attentive and welcoming. Every dish we tried was fantastic, but the tuna tostada was a true standout. The cocktails were perfectly crafted, and the dumplings and wings were just as delicious. Everything came out beautifully prepared and full of flavor. The atmosphere is vibrant and stylish, the food is next-level, and the service from Patricio made it all feel so special. Highly recommend Mextiza if you’re in Tulum — it’s a must-visit!

Myself and 6 friends stumbled across this restaurant last night, and we had an amazing time!! The cocktails were amazing - stargrita was delicious. The bao was soft and salty and tender. The tuna tostada was just the right amount of spice and wonderful mix of textures and flavours. The cabbage salad was how everyone should eat cabbage. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was beautiful. Thank you for your hospitality! This restaurant needs to be all over tourist Reddit Tulum.
