"The self-proclaimed coffee nerds at Methodical Coffee now have three cafes and a roasting facility, but the downtown location at the One Plaza is a place to sip and savor, offering two stories of seating including patio tables out front. Coffee arrives in blue and white cups and saucers, and there are cloth napkins and vintage spoons. Every cup is expertly constructed from espresso to pour-overs, chai to matcha, chocolate milk to steamers to cold brew. Coffee offerings are varied, interesting, and purposefully complex." - Stephanie Burnette

"I was in Greenville before Methodical started serving wine, and it was still my favorite spot in town. The in-house roasted beans are bright and fruity, and the pastries from Bake Room are some of the best I’ve had anywhere. (Get the morning bun.) But as of late last year, they’ve started to serve a small list of killer natural wines from producers like Broc Cellars. Go in the early afternoon. Get a coffee. Bask in the natural light. Sip your pet-nat. And keep doing that until they kick you out." - ByAlex Delany

Drinks - We ordered the hot chocolate and the Dove. The hot chocolate was a disappointment, unfortunately. We took the drinks to go and by the time the hot chocolate was cool enough to drink, it had the flavor of steamed milk; no chocolate flavor. I thought it was just me, so had my wife try and she said "it tastes like a Hershey kiss was melted into the milk". The Dove that she ordered was exceptional and mentioned wanting another. Service - This was the Downtown location and it appeared that everyone was having an off day. Customers and staff alike. Restaurant - Very clean interior, floors and tables were well maintained. Small tables and a small bar inside, a bit of seating outside. Overall - We would most likely skip this to go to one of the other coffee shops that we visit downtown instead.

Google
Great coffee and great vibe. It is a very cool location with most of the seating located on a mezannine. They offer all kinds of coffee drinks, a variety of pastries and some other items. The staff is friendly and welcoming. My favorite part was probably how unique their dishware is. It really made the shop stand out in my mind

Google
The pour over coffee is just the most amazing coffee I’ve ever had, and the latte is also spectacular. This has got to be the best coffee that I know of. I have come here twice already and have been blown away by the amazing quality of the coffee here.

Ohhh buddy, lemme tell ya somethin’ about Methodical Coffee in Greenville, South Carolin — this place is fancy shmancy, like wearin’ a bowtie to breakfast. I stroll in there, right? Smell hits me like a beautiful bean-scented freight train. I say, “Gimme that cappuccino,” and BAM — they hand me this smooth, steamy cup of joy in one of those fancy cups that makes you feel like royalty, buddy. I took a sip and my taste buds did a lil’ happy dance. I’m talkin’ frothy, creamy perfection, like a hug in a mug. Then — oooohhh no — I spot the almond croissant. This thing’s sittin’ there all golden and crispy like it knows it’s a superstar. I take one bite and WOOOWEE! It’s flaky, it’s buttery, it’s got that sweet almond crunch that makes your eyes roll back like, “Did I just ascend to pastry heaven?” You ever eat somethin’ so good you gotta pause for a second and thank the universe? Yeah. That’s what we’re dealin’ with here. Five stars, no question. You go to Greenville? You go to Methodical. Get the cappuccino. Get the croissant. Live your best caffeinated life.

Google
Great ambiance and decor and a delicious espresso drink. I sat at the bar. It was perfect. Their seating rolls into a second room and there is also a balcony so plenty even if it’s crowded.

Google
We absolutely love this coffee place in downtown Greenville. They pour much love and care into their drinks and serve their customers. We were super thrilled when Methodical purchased the Baked Room. The pastries are seriously, absolutely delicious!! The staff are always friendly, and we love the atmosphere. We love watching people come in with their dogs and see their furbabies. Love, love the community.

Google
Walking in the cafe to see 3 employees staring at me without greeting me until I got to the register seemed strange and cold. Almond milk cortado was super foamy- probably a petty remark, but I had higher expectations for quality. Seating inside the cafe seemed very uncomfortable, but the joining building had more seating and a bathroom.

Google
TLDR; pretentious coffee in an unpretentious space. 10/10 would recommend I’ve had this place recommended to me for years and when I had a chance to be in the area, I went out of my way to go. Was not disappointed. Delicious espresso drinks. Beautiful espresso machine. They are precise with weight of grounds, they serve milk based drinks by the oz. Not the name. For example order a 4.5 oz instead of a cortado and an 8 oz instead of a cappuccino. They know what they’re doing. They didn’t have many snacks or food, so that was a bummer, but they do coffee 100% and that’s fine by me. The icing on the cake is that they play vinyl records for their music. Legit vinyl records piping through the sound system. Super cool chill, unpretentious space for very pretentious coffee. Seating upstairs too. Outdoor seating available off a small plaza. Plenty of options. 1000x yes.

Yelp
Great coffee shop with an eclectic atmosphere tucked down a pedestrian street. The service was incredibly prompt considering how long the line was. I had the seasonal castle latte featuring juniper and it was just the right amount of sweet with a nuanced flavor.

Tiff H.

Yelp
I have been fully converted Methodical - check the 3 bags of Methodical beans currently in my kitchen as proof. Parking isn't easy at this location - try your luck on the street! The interior of this location has great natural light. Coffee is SOLID - I have loved every seasonal drink I have tried like the orange mocha and the castle - but THE 5 star item at Methodical is the Yuzu Citrus muffin - I'm not sure if it's something still on their menu but if I could buy 2 dozen at once, I would. Super fluffy and airy but not too sweet. Definitely recommend this location or any location of Methodical you stumble upon in Greenville!

Yelp
Solid hipster coffee shop. It's quite popular among the locals and with good reason. Had a lavender latte and it was delicious. It's a little difficult to find if you don't know where you're going since it is in the center of a walkable downtown area and not really accessible directly from a street.

Lauren O.

Yelp
I thought this coffee shop was just OK. The baristas were friendly. I ordered a cold brew iced coffee and their advertised "back in season" vanilla syrup. It didn't taste like anything at all, no flavor. They also don't have cream or half and half for the coffee which is strange, only option is milk. There weren't any interesting specialty drinks to try, everything was just blah and boring. I went to 4 different coffee shops while visiting this area and enjoyed all of the other coffee shops more than this one. They had a few pastries on display but none of them looked appetizing. Ambiance is clean and minimalistic.

Jay R.

Yelp
Small, efficient, clean, with friendly helpful barristas. Most importantly the latte and the cappucino (decaf) were about as perfect as could be. Smooth and full flavored and good balance w/ the dairy . And if you appreciate latte art you will dig this too. So good we went out of our way and walked from our downdown hotel the next day as well. My only regret is that I wish I had purchased a bag or two of their beans!!! Worth the trip!

Nick D.

Yelp
Typical homemade southern biscuits and cookies, great coffee! Better then SB. Service was great. Very artsy feel inside. Nice and relaxing. Good feel of Greenville, SC.

Madison M.

Yelp
Methodical has truly become a coffee staple in GVL over the last few years for good reason. Always solid. Tried tres leches latte last time and OMG do yourself a favor, it was amazing.

Christopher T.

Yelp
Great coffee shop in the heart of DT Greenville. The feel is very modern - clean lines, hard surfaces, and minimalist vibe. The service is friendly and engaging. The menu is not large, but covers all the basics and some specialty drinks. I opted for an Americano. The espresso was smooth without the highly acidic taste you can get from some shots. Very enjoyable. When in Greenville, I suggest you stop by. N*Joy!

Cynthia L.

Yelp
My fav local coffee shop; when I'm visiting Greenville I go and was so happy I got to got this time. It's the best coffee lattes

Dipali G.

Yelp
I loved everything about this coffee shop and if I lived here, I'd come every weekend (if not everyday)! Drinks: they have a standard coffee menu with seasonal options! I got the standard almond milk cappuccino which was heavenly! The espresso taste was really strong and flavorful! Ambience: the coffee shop itself if so cute! I can see why so many locals come here. They have two seating areas (ample seating)a they also sell their own merch and coffee bags. Everything feels so intentionally placed as well! Service: great service! Price: very reasonably priced

John B.

Yelp
A centrally located coffee shop, this was better than basic with quality non-dairy options, seasonal drinks, and a rather impressive pumpkin spice cinnamon roll. While there was a line, it moved quickly and my drink was made in good time. Having pulled apart a moist and luscious cinnamon roll, I dipped into a chai that was more spice than sweet, which made for a nice compliment. Wifi was free with seating on the downtown square. I couldn't ask for a whole lot more from this sort of place.

Jon M.

Yelp
Now, normally I'd be maybe more critical with what I'd consider an average presentation of a drink, but it was very busy, and the flavor and overall profile was superb. It was very flavorful, and easily one of the best versions of a pumpkin spice latte I've had this year across many coffee shops. Not too sweet but bold and delicious. The environment was nice, plenty of seating to be had and well decorated. The standout feature was the gentlemen who took our order. He was extremely friendly, and personable even with how busy it was. 100% responsible for that additional star to make up for an ok presentation. I've been to coffee underground, which was also great, but overall coming back to Greenville this would be my preferred stop for best coffee.

Rachel B.

Yelp
I'm visiting Greenville, SC for the work week and had to scope out the local coffee scene. One of my friends back home had recommended Methodical, so I knew I had to check it out. This shop has a beautiful setup, and seems like a great spot to both work or catch up with a friend. They have tons of coffee options, with some traditional twists like their popular Tres Leches latte. I tried an iced honey latte with oat milk, which was delicious. The staff were incredibly kind, and overall it was just a sweet way to start my morning. Highly recommend if you're passing through Greenville!

Rupali K.

Yelp
It's inside commons and spacious. Service is good. Milk options are whole, oat, and almond. Lattes are good. We have tried lavender latte with whole milk, which was good. I liked my chai latte with oat milk and a shot of espresso. The Moriatto with whole milk was ok.

Hannah M.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and convenient location if you are in downtown area. The staff are very friendly, helpful, and work hard. The syrup flavors are very limited. I had an iced latte with tres leches, and it was really delicious! It's not a designated menu item so ask for it if you like cinnamon flavors!

Robert J.

Yelp
Great coffee fanstastic service Tucked away near the plaza downtown at base of Canal Building. Enjoying this cup in the plaza today!

Avery D.

Yelp
When I found out I would be staying the night in Greenville Sc there first thing I went looking for was where would I be getting my coffee! Methodical coffee came highly recommended from many different people and websites and let me tell you it did not disappoint! One of the best lattes I have had in a while. They are served in cute mugs making the whole experience 5 stars! They have a great upstairs which creates a cozy environment. Definitely will come again when I am in Greenville next!

Ramsey M.

Yelp
Amazing! I had an almond milk latte with simple syrup and it was delicious. We also split a biscuit and pumpkin cinnamon roll and both were so good. The biscuit was buttery with flakes of salt on top. All around perfect!

Cara E.

Yelp
I always love visiting coffee shops while on trips, and I knew that Methodical Coffee was the stop for Greenville. It is located just off of Main Street in a calm courtyard with several tables to sit at. Inside is very minimalistic and pretty. The packaging of their coffee bean bags is beautiful and floral. And the staff was really kind! We ordered an iced mocha and an iced chai latte. Both were very tasty. Our friends ordered a black coffee and an iced mocha, and they mentioned that the black coffee tasted like blueberries and was really unique. The pricing was average, but I felt the quality of our drinks was above average. I'd definitely recommend, and I look forward to returning on our next trip to Greenville!

Shawn K.

Yelp
Coffee focused, well crafted drinks with a passionate and knowledgeable staff that doesn't come off as too cool. If that wasn't enough, they use LPs and record playing for the music! Must visit if you are downtown and need a coffee.

Sarah M.

Yelp
I tried the cold brew and a latte and both were wonderful. The cold brew was perfectly balanced, and you can tell they care about the brew. Staff was friendly and helpful, and there was a good number of tables to get some work done. Only a few outlets, so come with a full charge.

Christine M.

Yelp
The coffee was delicious and the staff was helpful and friendly. I enjoyed it so much that I returned the following day for the coffee and yummy breakfast sandwich.

Ruta f.

Yelp
Always great and a cool vibe. Friendly baristas and the food is baked fresh and always creative.

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
Great coffee. Friendly baristas. And delicious biscuit! I would come back for sure.

Andrea P.

Yelp
Sooooo I just bought 2 twelve ounce bags of coffee. And the coffee here is really outstanding. BUT exactly how greedy can a company be?! I ordered a cappuccino and the sweet barista told me I was entitled to a free cup of coffee. Methodical used to give you a card for this cup of coffee if you didn't want it at the time. That's about $3. So I said could you please write me a card for a complimentary cup and I'll have it at another time. The barista told me that they don't do that anymore so I said well if I bought these bags of coffee separately, that would be two different $3 cups of coffee and the cappuccino is only five dollars, so could you comp the cappuccino. The barista said no. So I guess I'm an idiot for paying $30+ per 12 ounces of coffee beans. Sigh. The coffee for sure is 5 stars but the business disappointed me SO MUCH today.

Bill C.

Yelp
Coffee was very bitter..I won't go back. many coffee options in Greenville to choose from.

Nancy J L.

Yelp
It was average nothing special unless you like modern / business feel. I was visiting and wanted that history feel and being outdoors. This place was more for business people who work down the area. So it was okay to me coming from someone who's traveling. Food was okay again nothing special so if you're traveling and want something local and great pastries I suggest go somewhere else

Christopher D.

Yelp
Great coffee. I had a lavender latte and it was great. I said I wanted something with lavender and asked what way I should get my coffee as I hadn't made up my mind. They definitely delivered on it. Great place to stay and work a while!

Abby R.

Yelp
Absolutely perfect lattes - seasonal/sweetened options balanced and not too sweet, cutest cups/saucers, friendly staff

David S.

Yelp
Easy parking, good coffee, great meeting place. I recommend this for anyone looking for a great place to drink coffee and do a little work on the west side.

Mike T.

Yelp
BACK IN GREENVILLE! Ambiance: Small local gourmet coffee nook in the middle of the main plaza. No wait for coffee, and indoor/outdoor seating to relax and enjoy the vibes. Parking was annoying because it's all street or parking garage as a touristy area... and I couldn't easily find a spot. Price Point: In line with small gourmet coffee spots in tourist areas (based on my amateur expectations :) ) Pros: I love coffee shops where you can sit and read and ponder while drinking your coffee. They definitely set it up well in the middle of the shopping center of an outdoorsy relaxing touristy town. Cons: Just the parking Overall: Can't wait to go back to the area, and will definitely stop in to Methodical coffee to relax/refuel for my trip to Greenville!

Ryan L.

Yelp
Methodical is so good it hurts. I had The Betty, a seasonal option this Spring. It was great.

Palmer B.

Yelp
Methodically stubborn this well rated coffee shop will not do a 1/2 caf without charging for an extra double shot?! That said, my full caf oat latte was very good.

Eric W.

Yelp
No matter which Methodical you try, you'll have great coffee in a great space. Staff is always super friendly (and super hip!) never a harsh vibe. They all seem to just enjoy the fact that you're here to enjoy a hot beverage with them. Coffee or tea or whatever - can't go wrong at Methodical.

Jason K.

Yelp
How can I give this place 6 stars? What a great place for coffee! The coffee is flavorful without ever tasting burnt, the pastries they have are a great accompaniment without being too sweet, and the vibe is spot on. Heard someone try to order a skim milk latte. "We only have whole milk." YES! Stop ruining coffee drinks with skim milk! Also they don't ruin and destroy your pastry my heating it in the microwave, they actually have a toaster over. WHAT A CONCEPT! Can't wait to come back!

Damon H.

Yelp
I like to drop in for an iced tres leches before heading to the farmers market. It's a busy coffee shop but the staff move the customers through the line efficiently. They're usually spinning some cool beats on the vinyl record player if you want to hang out for a bit in the loft, or there's plenty of room on the patio outside.

Morgan S.

Yelp
Everything on the menu looked amazing. The staff was helpful and friendly! The cute umbrella topper with my drink really made me feel like I was on vacation.

Bianca R.

Yelp
Such a gem!! We were staying at a hotel downtown. We wanted good coffee so we ventured out and found this super cute little place! I tried the Tres-Leches latte, it was good. Super milky (haha its in the name). My two friends tried the chai lattes, also good! All of the baristas were super sweet and nice! They were all wearing their mask the proper way!

hannah s.

Yelp
I personally did not enjoy the coffee that was served. Everyone has their own taste preferences though so I encourage people to try new places if that's what you like to do!

Ana L.

Yelp
Had the misfortune of having a steamed bagel sandwich and needed an escape. This place blew me away. Love love love the vibe and the iced coffee is bomb.

Mark W.

Yelp
Stopped in around 8:45 am. Friendly staff. Tried a pastry, orange pastry. It was fresh and moist and I really enjoyed it. Coffee was good but wish they had a little bigger selection. Watching people come in and out service was super quick and everyone greeted with a smile

DC R.

Yelp
Tremendous coffee and vibes. The baristas showcase their talent and as the name suggest -- serve up some methodical cups. I travel often and would put this coffee shop among the best in the country

Lauren O.

Yelp
Amazing service, very friendly staff. Love the atmosphere and the dish wear that they serve your coffee in. House made syrup too boot

Maria K.

Yelp
Super friendly staff greets everyone as though they are old friends. Exceptional coffee served in the very best manner possible for each drink. The freshly delivered pastries are phenomenal and their prices are reasonable for the very high quality products you are consuming. The vibe is really laid back and quirky with a record player spinning tunes and great cafe seating inside and out. Can't wait to come back.

Alexis S.

Yelp
Nothing says "great coffee" more than when you can watch them prep, make, and fawn over each cup as if its their baby. EVERY Methodical coffee I am in, I can see the love on each baristas face for this dark elixir. Its really fun to watch. And if youre not a HUGE coffee fan (like me, Im on the fence) they make amazing Cafe au laits and Chai Lattes as well! Literally everything in here is fresh and amazing.

Donald G.

Yelp
I was so happy to find methodical coffee in downtown Greenville. There is also another location in Greenville as well. With that being said this is the go-to place to have excellent espresso and coffee. I have been drinking very good coffee for a long time and methodical coffee gets five stars and had me coming back every day of our vacation. Nice staff, terrific location

Shawn B.

Yelp
Excellent atmosphere, coffee, and a staff. The Cortado is one of my favorites. They have a wide assortment of teas/coffees and know how to prepare them correctly. Their space is convenient and includes an inside area, outside seating, and a shared space with couches and a large community table. Restrooms are conveniently located inside around the corner. They are kid friendly, dog friendly outside, and have great work spaces for the professional on a break. If you are downtown they are in a great location and I recommend dropping by.

Sophia N.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop with a great atmosphere and space to study or catch up with friends. Service was great! We got the sweet matcha latte, tres leches coffee, pumpkin muffin, and salmon focaccia board. The sweet matcha latte was very sweet and milky (not a strong matcha taste) so I would not recommend. The pumpkin muffin, tres leches coffee, and salmon focaccia board however were delicious!

Rachel P.

Yelp
Went here on a Saturday morning, and it was super busy, but I'm glad I waited in line! Got an almond milk lavender latte, and it took me a second to adjust to the flavors, but it was delicious in the end. If I had to critique something, I do wish that there were more syrup flavor options, but this was definitely in the top lattes that I've had.

Jennifer G.

Yelp
Can't find it at this location. No answer when attempted to call. Believe business to no longer at this location. Sad because reviews encouraged me to try.
