The Best 24-Hour Restaurants in Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"Metro Cafe Diner opened in downtown Atlanta’s Peachtree Center in 2006. This is where to head for breakfast fare, wings, classic burgers, and even baby back ribs and platters of spaghetti at any hour. Currently, the restaurant closes at 4 a.m. (5:30 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays) to restock and refresh the menu, before returning to all-day and all-night dining at 6 a.m. Hours are extended when conventions and larger crowd events are in town. Metro Cafe Diner also includes a location open late in Stone Mountain." - Henna Bakshi

Google
We came across this diner after our hotel restaurant was 50+ minutes backed up at 8:30pm. After a long day of driving with two kids, that wasn’t happening. METRO DINER was absolutely happening!! The food was perfect, the staff was absolutely the friendliest we’ve come across and the prices were extremely reasonable for the amount and quality of food received. We enjoyed it so much, we came back for breakfast the next two days! So nice to find a good location with friendly service and a variety of food offering to satisfy even the pickiest eaters 😝 OH! I almost forgot about the desserts! Insanely delicious. Wish we lived closer!

Google
This was my first time dining here, but I must say it will not be my last! Everything from the immediate attention provided to seat us although they were quit busy, to the attentiveness of our waitress , to the DELICIOUS food prepared exactly as requested was nothing short of excellent! The serving sizes were not sparse and I even cheated by getting a slice of red velvet cake! Might I say it was well worth my cheat day!! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking good food and service!

This place is a must try!!! The food was fresh and excellent. The service was very kind. The atmosphere is charming. Very clean. The prices are reasonable. Next time I will try their huge cakes. I wanted a chicken gyro. They only sold lamb gyro. The cook made an exception for me. Awesome experience.

Google
Yummy!!! If you are in the Stone Mountain area I would definitely recommend you go and try this place out. Felicia was super kind and made our experience so much better. Food was delicious!!! We did end up having to wait 10 to 15 minutes, and the place was packed. I definitely have to recommend the lemon chicken soup!!! I will definitely be coming back to this hidden gem!!!

Every time we visit Metro Café, we know we’re in great hands with Naima! Her incredible service, friendly personality, and sharp sense of humor always brighten our day. She has a way of making everyone feel welcomed and cared for ike family. The food is always on point, and somehow her jokes make it taste even better! Naima, thank you for your outstanding service over the years. You’re the reason we keep coming back again and again.

Google
The best key lime cheesecake I’ve ever had. Great service. The salads were very good. The entrees we had were OK. Definitely save room for dessert!

I've been coming to this place for over 10 years. Always loved it. Never disappointed. Not out to beat your pockets up. Just a good old wholesome family diner

Very friendly servers and the managers checked on us several times. The food was absolutely amazing and you get a lot for your money. Will be back next time we are in town

Yelp
On the 2nd morning of our stop in Atlanta, we wanted to give a different breakfast spot a try. Metro Cafe got the nod and did not disappoint! The inside is styled like a modern twist to a retro cafe. What I assume were homemade cakes and deserts greet you as soon as you enter the restaurant. If these deserts tasted half as good as they looked they would be 10 stars! Our food was great! I had the chicken fried steak with eggs. The CFS was fried crispy but not overdone! It was well seasoned and the gravy was decent. My wife had the French toast which is her favorite and she really enjoyed her dish as well. I would have liked to explore this menus some more. The lunch options looked tempting! They also have a full bar with televisions.

Yelp
Always happy with the food and great service at Metro. I had an excellent salad prior to the chicken.

Yelp
Upon entering the restaurant there is a sign that has you to wait to be seated. They have a large display of delicious looking cakes. They were very tall and inviting. I wanted to order cake instead of a meal because they looked so good. Also in the front aside from the chairs and tables at the counter there were more desserts. I did not try any but they all looked very good. At the time that we arrived there were not many customers inside. The TVS were on so we got to watch a little bit of that. Not sure what we were watching but the screens were large.I did not use the bathroom but the inside, the floors and the tables appeared to be cleaned. The silverware that was wrapped in a napkin was also clean. I did not see any water stains which is usually at most of the restaurants. The waitress was very nice and accommodating. We did not have to call for her much because she continually made her rounds to check on us and others while we ate. The food was just ok. To be more specific it was very bland. I ordered the salmon, shrimp pasta and the Chicken Marsala. Both meals looked great. The presentation was fabulous but the flavor was lacking. I was glad they had salt and pepper at the table because it was HEAVILY used. I was hoping the meals would have more flavor but I was disappointed. The meal portions were a good size but the flavor made you wish it was less. I did bring my leftovers home not sure if they will be eaten though. This was my first time coming here and I have seen the restaurant on a number of occasions. The best thing we had was the appetizers. It was the cheese sticks. They were cooked correctly. They were good and passed the pull test. Which is when you take a bite and the cheese is still connected even after you pull it, so we know it was fresh and hot. Even though the restaurant was clean, the waitress was nice, and the portions were of good size I will not be returning only because I needed more flavor in the food and Metro missed the mark.

Yelp
Have been coming here since 2019 the food quality has been the same but of course the prices have gone up ,service is always good I just wish the inside was a tad bit cleaner .. the food is always good and I never have a complaint I love the cheesecakes that they serve

Yelp
Our waitress was attentive, the food was delicious and I've found a spot for Reuben sandwiches! I will be back and I would recommend

Yelp
Looooved the vintage decor but yet modern. Very clean restaurant and our waitress was amazing! She just moved from Orlando, FL, and did not catch her name. My mom and I shared the steak and shrimp fajitas. The portion was okay, about 8 shrimp and 4oz beef. It came sizzling, and the flavor was good. Would have liked a little more beef. My older son ordered calamari, and it was an excellent and nice portion. Younger son ordered tomato bisque, it was VERY delicious! We were full and did not get to the dessert. I would cone again :)

Yelp
Neat lil convenient space sitting in Stone Mountain, adjacent to the Netherworld macabre. Caters mostly to older folks usually; and due to proximity to N., you get all kinds at night. Menu quite varied and Expansive. Check out the numerous pics. Active bar, and if you love cakes n desserts, u came to the right place. Grub choices everything from Greek gyros, Italian lasagna, Fajitas, to good ole backyard burgers n fries. The mystifying calamari and salmon were nice btw. Service was rite on. Hopefully u sit in Dunja's or Naima's areas, with v kind prompt service and energy. Thx.

Yelp
Came here with a group of friends. As far as service goes it's a 10/10. But the food...the whole menu is literally hit or miss. The noodles for the chicken alfredo is very "watery". No clue what's going on in the kitchen. As for me I ordered the chicken fried steak. The grits have a very watery texture and the butter just floats at the top of the grits. The steak itself is fine. The wings and chicken tenders are a 10/10. Would only comeback late at night if it's the only option available

Yelp
First off my server Naji was absolutely amazing. After traveling for the past two days, it was nice to have a good meal with excellent service. I am not from the area and live in Los Angeles and came here for a business trip. I was recommended this restaurant by the hotel I was staying in. My server Naji was amazing. Naji was very knowledgeable about the menu and recommended some dishes. He was very attentive and constantly checked on me if I needed anything. I went with the calamari and the loaded baked potato. The baked potato came with crispy bacon, butter, and sour cream. It was so good and filling. They definitely make their food from scratch and it taste homemade. I love sweet tea and it was fresh. I recommend coming here if you are in Stone Mountain. Also please give Naji a bonus and employee of the month. Bravo for one of the best customer services I have ever had.

Yelp
We had brunch at the Metro Cafe diner this morning. The food was exactly what you would expect from a brunchy-diner and no complaints. Our table all had breakfast itWm's, but they do offer sandwiches, burgers, and salads. We also came with a large group of players and their families and were grateful the diner set aside seats for us via call-ahead. The kids had a great time and the restaurant staff were incredibly patient with us.

Yelp
This place really changed my life LOL I was not expecting Metro Cafe Diner to be this good! I dined there on a Wednesday afternoon for lunch and it was a great experience. It was busy but that didn't prevent the service from being quick and efficient. I ordered the onion rings (served with a chipotle ranch - amazing) as an appetizer and lasagna for my meal. Both were delicious! Everything was so fresh. Those that dined with me ordered the chicken wings, catfish, and of course, cheesecake! Everyone was extremely pleased with their food. I cannot wait to return to try out dessert. They have a large assortment of cakes and cheesecakes so make sure to save some room when you visit!

Yelp
Cinnamon roll pancakes do not disappoint! This lively diner, great servers, and outstanding food are a winning combination. Five stars on everything!

Yelp
Came here for dessert after an escape game. ***LOCATION*** Had plenty of parking in the lot. It's around Stone Mountain and 2 minutes from Netherworld. ***ATMOSPHERE*** The inside seemed cute like a retro diner but had modern elements as well and surprisingly a full bar. ***FOOD*** We just got an order of fries which were good + desserts. They only had strawberry, chocolate and vanilla shake or ice cream flavors. I'd have loved other flavor options. I also hate chocolate syrup but the shakes were loaded with it + whipped cream. They were average. Not the best shakes and very sugary tasting with all of the syrup. Of course shakes are full of sugar but the syrup was a bit over the top for me. The desserts in general are all over the top. We split a slice of cheesecake thinking it'd be small and it was massive and loaded with chocolate and extras as well and an Oreo crust. We just wanted plain or strawberry but they were out so we got snickers, so that is also prob why there were too many toppings for us but the slices are huge for sure. I'm not really a fan of over the top desserts since I feel there's enough sugar in them as is. The portions were also a bit extreme for me but nothing was bad. It was all alright I'd just say definitely split things between 2-4 people. And it's a decent option if you want to go sit down somewhere for dessert, otherwise, Bruster's or Sonic down the street may be better ice cream options. The other food all looked good and the fries we had were really good! ***CONCLUSION*** Definitely a nice atmosphere with an extensive menu. Would definitely come back here for dinner and maybe for a dessert if we want to sit down inside at a later hour. They are open very late which is a plus!

Yelp
I saw this place on diners drive ins and dives and if it was good enough for Guy, I figured it would be for me too. I've been back multiple times since going my first time 6-8 months ago. Great food, clean restaurant and friendly/helpful wait staff. Writing this has reminded me I need to go back again soon for some chicken and waffles!
google avatar

Blake H.

Yelp
We've been to Metro Cafe Diner several times and it never disappoints! Service can be a little slow on busy nights but with friendly staff, comfy seats, clean restrooms and plenty of TVs it's no big deal. Ok prices on great waffles, great soups, great omelettes, great burgers and lots of pricey but great desserts!
google avatar

Yelp
Family birthday lunch at one of the birthday girl's favorite local restaurants. Very large diner menu with something for everyone in a classic diner setting. We only waited about five minutes to be seated and our server was very attentive and good. One of our guests had a delay in her food's arrival after all of our food was delivered and our server apologized. I had the chicken panini and fries which was delicious. We also got desserts- I had the Reese's cheesecake- and I had plenty of leftovers of both. We had a fun time together and we will be back.
google avatar

Ahmad W.

Yelp
I haven't been here in awhile. The food is good. The cake assortment is vast and delicious. You see the size of this slice of red velvet cake. Go try these folks out and thank me later.
google avatar

Betty T.

Yelp
First, It's a good idea to check the website to get an idea of what to expect as far as wait times. Check to make sure the server has you on the wait list. By the way the restaurant is very clean and the waitress was very professional and efficient. You can rock out to some real deal rock-n-roll. I'm also an OG hippie. You young folks need it in your life. Once you get past that, the food quality and service are excellent. You get the full diner experience. They have a bar where you can get a decent mimosa AND fresh coffee. That's nirvana for me..just sayin. I had the Alpine omelet which was excellent, cheese pulls included. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Andrea C.

Yelp
I am very upset that I have never tried this place before! They are open late and have any food you may be craving! I had not had a burger in so long and this one hit the spot. I also had the best cake ever which consisted of a layer of chocolate cake, cheesecake and brownie. I definitely had to get a good workout in after this meal but it was 100% worth it! The food was fresh, the service was amazing, and the server did not mind answering all the questions we had. It is a very clean and lively environment. I will definitely be coming back a million more times.

Yelp
Najee is a good server, he is very nice, the food is good, I also like the server Najee

Yelp
This is a great spot to dine at anytime but I especially like dining here after the movies. It's right across the street so the ambiance is welcoming and warm it's a diner vibe. Decent parking it was busy but I still managed to park right in front of the entrance. Hostess seated us and presented us with menus. Waiter then came over introduced himself and took our drink order. I ordered a sweet tea it wasn't until I was leaving when I realized they served alcohol! I saw margarita and almost sat back down I ordered the Metro Plate 2 eggs your way,2 sausage, 2 bacon, and 2 pancakes YUM!!! I like my eggs over medium and the chef got my eggs perfect! And they have soooooo many desserts! You have to go for yourself to see them all but I had their strawberry cheesecake omg! The slice is so huge!!! This is one of my go to places so be sure to check them out... until next time SYOY! And as always check out my pics and vids.
google avatar

Linzy M.

Yelp
Upon arrival we had a 15 minute wait, not bad for the time of day. We were sat and able to look around. The vibe is cool, the music was okay, not loud but audible and I could still hear my family. The waitress took a while to take our order but was courteous to alert of the delay. We ordered our drinks and food and the same time and there did seem to be a delay with the food as well but again our waitress was courteous to alert us of the delay throughout our wait. Once the food came out it came out warm, plates were hot so I knew the food had been sitting. The food was okay, the steak was too salty for me but ate it. I would try something else the next time.
google avatar

Karo R.

Yelp
It's a YES for me!!! They have an amazing breakfast menu with a full bar! I ordered bacon, grits and eggs with a bagel with added cream cheese. The grits were seasoned and very buttery and the eggs were cooked to perfection. The service was good and the prices did not break the bank.
google avatar

Shanna G.

Yelp
Place was clean and friendly. Food was decently priced, lots of items to choose from, and the service was good. I enjoyed my breakfast as did everyone else at the table. Not super gourmet but a great diner experience. They have a full bar and some crazy delicious looking cakes.
google avatar

Luke T.

Yelp
Oh man, does this place get busy on a weekend. But, its worth the wait. You walk in and there is lively chatter from all the filled tables. Its like dining with your extended + extended family. Like everybody here, with grandma, and all the babies , and all the cousins. Like everybody having a good time. That's the vibe. Good food, family, and the pace is fast, fast, fast. When you enter, the first thing you'll see is that cake display. Full of gigantic cakes, 3-4-5 layered cakes. MAkes you think... why can;t I have cake for breakfast. Well , you sure can. It does get busy , but the tables turn fast, so have a seat outside, or in your car. They'll text you when your table is ready We came for breakfast and had the egg benny, has plate, bacon, eggs, pancake and a huge slice of vanilla coco cake. We'll get to the cake later, but the breakfast was delicious. Portions enough to make you skip lunch. The best thing was actually the diner coffee. It not exactly gourmet, but it no nonsense, hot , satisfying , diner coffee. I guess I have a thing for diner coffee. The eggs ben was actually done very well. That vanilla coco cake was awesome. Moist and just enough icing , so that its not greasy. And finally, service was fast. The server knew what we wanted before we asked for it and that's much appreciated. I didn't have to ask for water, I didn;t have to ask for creamer and sugar, ... everything just magically appreared at the right time too.

Yelp
So glad we stumbled upon this place! So many great things to be said. You walk in and there's a beautiful display of cakes! Staff was great! Place was so nice and clean. The food was amazing!! Cannot say enough good about the delicious food. Make sure to visit if you're in the area! You won't regret it!

Yelp
Great spot to hit after checking out Stone Mountain. Sat at the counter and was taken great care of by AJ! Service was fantastic, food was delicious. Wish we had had room for what looked like through the front case, amazing desserts. Maybe next time;) Very unassuming from the outside but based on the full parking lot we stopped and we're not disappointed. We had a good look at all the food coming out of the kitchen from our spot at the bar and everything looked amazing. We had the buffalo chicken wrap and the tuna panini with onion rings and fries respectively, both delicious. Would recommend to anyone traveling though. Thanks AJ! You took great care of us:)
google avatar

DeRoyce R.

Yelp
Went here on a Sunday afternoon. You have to go inside to put your name down. The wait took about 20min. It is really nice on the inside and the service was fast. The food wasn't great but wasn't bad either. I probably wouldn't go back unless I was in the area only because the food could have been better. The breakfast bowl had way too many potatoes in it and just feels like it was rushed.
google avatar

Deborah H.

Yelp
My husband and I always catch a quick Friday meal at Metro Cafe, the service is great, our food is always served hot and delicious, and the cocktails are delicious.

Tracey C.

Yelp
It's ok....dont believe the hype....I have been to plenty breakfast spots here in ATL and this is definitely BASIC! Pancakes taste like Jiffy Cornbread mix and it's cheap American cheese....IHOP is better than this place!!
google avatar

Kim T.

Yelp
My son ordered a well done hamburger and it arrived medium (almost dark pink). I ordered an omelette that had too many mushrooms and the grits had big chunks in them. Overall, beyond the good the experience was pleasant.

Donald O.

Yelp
Good food at reasonable prices. Grilled Chicken Panini is delicious. Whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner, they have it all!

Desmoine B.

Yelp
Honestly, great establishment. I really love the staff and the cooks that work there. They bring out my food quickly and nicely ready to eat! And the food just tastes absolutely amazing, it's really worth a try.
google avatar

Yelp
Thank you for the great service and food at your cafe. My co workers and I found it hard to find lunch options in the Stone Mountain area. Most places are closed or not truly lunch places at all. We certainly loved all the options that were available, and the potions are huge. Shout out to our waitress she provided great advice on the food. Yes, your fries are delicious! I can't wait to stop back by the next time we are in town. You're 5 minutes up the road and perfect for a quick bite to eat. PS the Ruben is delicious as well
google avatar

Tracy J.

Yelp
The manager on duty was very rude, because of my back I can't sit at a table with high chairs. He rudely told us we will have to wait then. We frequent this diner often and he was very rude today. Not happy with the service today.
google avatar

Jeanne G.

Yelp
Really good. Cute little diner. Greek salad was great. Granddaughter had spaghetti. Large variety of menu options. Beautiful display of dessert. Reasonably priced. Good portion sizes. Friendly staff.

Donna W.

Yelp
Excellent food, atmosphere, and service. Manager and staff are very polite, friendly and professional.
google avatar

Yelp
Service was incredible. Side salad was lettuce, cucumber and onion...suuuuuck. The lasagna was recommended by the lady at the hotel, she don't get out much...it was not good. Shoulda stuck with breakfast for dinner. Service was out of this world.

Yelp
Perfect early morning breakfast spot before errands OR late night, after party spot before crashing for the night. Decent prices, plenty of seating and parking, and good service. Location: great location, right between stone mountain and Lilburn- easy to access from highway 78. Nice roomy parking lot & close to lots of shopping areas. Service: staff is easy going and attentive. I've never had to wait at the door longer than 1 minute without being greeted and updated on the status of a table. This place is always busy but never with a wait longer than 5 minutes- they have a ton of seating but it doesn't feel overcrowded. The only draw is that I will sit quickly but usually have to wait a decent amount of time for my good to arrive. Cost: I typically spend around $12 per person, per visit but that price can ramp up quickly if you're getting an appetizer, a full sized dinner entree, and a treat from their pastry counter. In that case, expect to spend around $30-35 or more per person. Menu Variety: a ton of options ranging from breakfast staples to lunch sandwiches and burgers and more hearty dinner dinners like fried chicken or ribs and lasagna. They also have an extensive wine list and full bar. Taste: GOOD. EVERYTHING IS ALWAYS GOOD. Served fresh, always hot, and just what you expect from a 4 star diner.

Yelp
Shocking good lunch. I was traveling through the area and assumed nothing special for food in the area and randomly seen an ad for this place. The food is very good and clean not fatty and oily. Good quality and large portions. I returned for breakfast the next day but wasn't as impressed over all it was good enough but the breakfast potatoes were not crunchy a bit more soft like they boiled them first and grilled them to serve quickly. Considering the options in the area this place is great. Beware the deserts they are impressive also cheese cake hmmmm looked pretty yummy!
google avatar

Shanise M.

Yelp
This place is a regular dinner but very nice and spacious. The waiter was nice but wasn't really paying much attention when we placed our order. The philly cheese steak and fries I had was nice and seasoned . My friend complained her wings tho tasted like gasoline Would recommend for late night food no drinks though
google avatar

Karla C.

Yelp
24/7 dinner with an awesome cake selection that is pretty delicious. The place itself has a typical diner vibe and look and somewhat clean. Our waitress was the sweetest and most patient person ever, I feel bad for not remembering her name but we appreciate you. The menu is extensive with a lot of delicious sounding options. I will confess it took a while for us to order but when we finally did, the tables turned and the food was brought out a little late, it was still warm though. Flavor wise, nothing exciting, just your standard simple dinner food with normal portions. This is the type of place you come to for a type of traditional weekend breakfast or when when you want to hang out and talk but everything else is closed.
google avatar

Janet V.

Yelp
Food was excellent and the server Evelyn is great love her personality and was very pleasant and professional would definitely come back

Yelp
I went for breakfast this morning. Ordered an Omelet with bacon onions and cheese. It came no bacon or onions. Sent it back the next one came over cooked and then potatoes were undercooked. Cold toast and just all around bad experience. Got the manager and complained. He stated do I want another one. No thank you so I tipped the waitress and the meal was untouched and not paid for. I have eaten here a few times before and totally different and much better experience. Not this time. Hopefully if or when I go back it will be better. There desserts are amazing

Joshua W.

Yelp
I recently ate at this diner with my mother and she read thru the menu ordered her food expecting it to look like the photo but it didn't. Our waitress was amazing she handled it properly by getting the manager for us to speak with, immediately he came over with an attitude trying to project it onto us saying we had one.
google avatar

April M.

Yelp
Food was pretty good . Our service was efficient and friendly. And the restaurant was very clean

Romone A.

Yelp
OMG!! The food was great! This isn't the 1st time I've been to a Metro Diner. I brought 5 cousins of mine, and 4 of them haven't been to a Metro before. They were ALL pleased.
google avatar

Nicholas L.

Yelp
The first time I came here (a little over a year ago), it was fantastic. I got a really "diner from the movies" vibe. Food and Service was great. I was excited to come back. But this visit was pretty rough. I'll come again, but I was disappointed on all front.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch while traveling to the Atlanta area. Looks like an old school diner, but they have a bar too. Decent little place for lunch, but not great. I'll start with the service. We sat down and ordered drinks (2 waters, and 1 beer) at 2:35 pm. At 2:45 pm we still had not received our drinks. They finally arrived a couple of minutes later. Luckily we were ready to place our food order then so we didn't have to wait for the server again. The food was good. I had the Buffalo Chicken Wrap and my girlfriend had the Grilled Chicken Panini. Everything was hot and tasted good. Nothing spectacular, but tasty nonetheless. Overall it was an OK experience. Food was good but service can certainly be improved.

Tabitha D.

Yelp
Food is good I've never had a complaint, I especially like the cake slices, Good service and atmosphere.
