Oh my gosh! What a wonderful dining experience! We couldn’t get into a Spanish restaurant on a Friday night, and randomly found Metropolis. Of course, we did not have a reservation, but the host was very kind. They took time and looked into their booking system, checking in with other staff and made us feel welcomed. They were accommodating and sat us at a bar. The bartender knew their drinks and food well. They were also very attentive to their guests’ needs. We enjoyed our food very much as they were fresh and tasty. Couldn’t have asked for a better meal on our last night in Boston! Highly recommended!!!

Good for brunch! I had the Smoke Salmon Eggs Benedict here and really was satisfied with it. The poach egg was perfectly cooked with great Hollandaise sauce, very creamy and went well with the toasted buns. Needed to wait for a bit too long, but it was busy hour so it was understandable.

Google
Cool late October evening. Found parking in front of the restaurant, miraculously.... I had been in this place a decade or more ago on a wintry late afternoon, so I was glad to see it again with the same layout and general decor. The food was excellent. Kale salad is worth a try...even if you aren't a kale salad person. This was a revelation to me. The Faroe Island salmon was very good, though I would have preferred fewer capers in the relish mixture. Table mates said the chicken was perfect and so was the other dish, that I don't remember. My only reservation here is the blood orange Margarita and the apple crumble were mediocre. ( I should send the chef my apple crumble recipe... it involves pecans in the crumble...perfection). The other mixed drink ordered at the table was pronounced "wonderful".

Small, intimate atmosphere. Came here for brunch got the huevos rancheros with a buttermilk pancake. Everything was excellent. Service was fast, approachable. Food was well seasoned.

Google
Went for an early dinner. Everything was teriffic and very reasonably priced. Holds up to 50 but was never noisy, unusual for S End. Music was nice and not loud. Attracts an older crowd who appreciates what it offers. Nice staff, too. Our now favorite S End place. We'll be back.

Google
Very cute and cozy, and we had great service. Loved the menu options and our drinks were great. We had the brussels sprouts, pork entree, and chicken mushroom risotto entree. The food was good, but could have been a bit better for the price. It was definitely a cute place for a date night overall, with a pretty convenient location.

Google
Sat at the bar for dinner on a busy Friday night. We started with the muscles, they were perfectly cooked in a green curry. The dish came with toast for dipping, which I LOVE! I had the burger and my wife had the chicken, both dishes were outstanding! The staff was attentive and friendly. The vibe was perfect and...I didn't have to shout to have a conversation. I will 100% be making Metropolis my local go to spot.

Google
We’ve always walked by here since we live nearby but never had gone in; we spontaneously popped in one night to sit at the bar, and we were pleasantly surprised! The veal was so tender and flavorful, and the toffee pudding cake was delicious and rich. The glazed brussel sprouts were underwhelming (and not a lot of brussel sprouts for the price), but everything else was great.

Yelp
Great brunch! We had a bloody Mary and the Autumn Storm, which were both great. The latter might be a little strong for most people for brunch, but I loved it. For food, we did the grilled Reuben and the huevos rancheros. Both were excellent. The eggs were perfectly over easy, and I loved that they crisped up the black beans and sprinkled some tortilla strips on top to give some texture.

Yelp
Overall Metropolis is a okay spot for both brunch and solid spot for dinner. Brunch: service was kind, but slow. They weren't too busy for a Sunday brunch, but our food took ~30 minutes to prepare. Prices were super reasonable for brunch. I ordered the BBH & eggs and thought the grilled chorizo to be super greasy, the hash to be pretty hard. But oh well, I didn't go in expecting brunch food to blow my mind. I would go back and order something different. Dinner: service was much quicker. It can get noisy because they get so busy, but the servers were attentive and kind. Their risotto is delicious - I'm still thinking about it.

Yelp
Hidden gem former ice cream Parlor since 1995 - excellent seafoods heavy menu. A charming small treasure for a romantic meal or solo at the bar. Service is friendly and gracious, and everything is well done.

Yelp
A south end gem! Food: Great spot for an elevated meal. We shared 2 appetizers, an entree each and 2 desserts and left full and happy. For appetizers we started with the Sriracha glazed brussels sprouts (crunchy & sweet) and spring panzanella salad (refreshing). For entrees we had chicken & mushroom risotto (agree with the other reviews it's so delicious) and the spring radiatori (also did not disappoint). For dessert we had the warm flourless chocolate cake (absolutely amazing) and blueberry cobler (great dish if you like blueberry desserts). Service: Our server was so kind and professional and gave us great recommendation for a bottle of wine that did not disappoint. We were seated right away with our reservation & other staff were great as well. Our food was brought out in a great pace, and we did not feel rushed at all. Ambiance: This is a small and intimate restaurant. Great spot for a date or a small group dinner.

Yelp
My go to place for risotto. The hacked chicken and truffle shroom risotto never disappoints. So flavorful and not too salty.

Phuong L.

Yelp
Got the union park omelette and it was pretty good! Had a great time here with a friend but brunch menu was pretty standard. Great location in the south end area. Parking is kinda rough so recommend walking and taking public transportation. The service was great - waitress was very attentive and helpful

David R.

Yelp
I ordered the veal scallopini and my wife ordered the salmon. Both were excellent and the portion sizes were just right. While the food was wonderful, the prices were sky high but considering the south end Boston neighborhood, I suspect their rent is through the roof.

Yelp
Great little brunch spot! A group of us came here before a Saturday afternoon show. Definitely recommend making a reservation. This is a small spot and every table was filled when we were there. Didn't feel crowded though, just busy. We got a cozy window table which was lovely. Our server came over and greeted us shortly after we arrived. They are still using QR code menus FYI. The peach Bellini was superb. I love a good mimosa or spin on a mimosa with my brunch. I ordered their brunch special which was duck confit Benedict. If the eggs were poached perfectly, the duck was delicious, and the potatoes that came with it were delicious. The plate may look small, but it was the perfect amount of food. My friends got the kale salad and huevos rancheros. Both looked delicious, but I only tried the huevos rancheros. They had really good flavor again, the eggs were cooked perfectly so that the yolk drizzle all over everything. I think all three of us would recommend any of the dishes that we had. Definitely recommend and will be back for another brunch.

Yelp
Walked in on a rainy Sunday w no reservations but got seated at the bar in 20min. Server was attentive and food was good as well.

Yelp
Had dinner here on a weekday evening with my wife. We've walked by many times, but never seemed kid friendly, so couldn't pass it up on a date night. It's very cozy inside, nice atmosphere and service. For how small it is, the menu has a lot of choices. I had the risotto with chicken and mushrooms, it was great. My wife liked her salmon. I had the pumpkin tart for dessert, which was incredible. My wife had the orange crème brûlée, which she loved. It's on the more expensive end, even for a South End restaurants, and they add a 3% kitchen fee, which they disclose in the middle of a big chunk of fine print on the bottom of the menu. I was okay with that, but I could see some people being annoyed (it's a fair argument to say just charge more, don't hide it).

Yelp
I had this experience almost 2 years ago and I still experience rage whenever I think about it. My mother, sibling, friends, and boyfriend had a reservation here around 7:30 pm for dinner, but upon arrival had to wait 30 to 45 minutes to be seated because there was another party seated at the table we were supposed to get. We asked multiple times if they could let the party know they had to leave or seat us elsewhere and the staff didn't seem to care. After we were seated, the service was fine and the food was too. After paying, our party stood outside for a while waiting for our Ubers. After 10 minutes, my mother and sibling left in their Uber while my friends, boyfriend, and I were still waiting. A woman came out from the restaurant and approached us, telling us she was the manager, asking if everything was okay with our service. Confused, we told her yeah, it was all good. She kept insisting on her question of whether everything went well and then proceeded to tell us that "well, usually people tip 18-20%, and you only tipped 13." We told her we were sorry, but we weren't the ones who paid, as my mother had treated us (a group of college students). She then told us that their servers only make $6 an hour and they really depend on tips and are we sure that everything was okay and if it was why didn't we tip more. She also told us that we took up a third of their restaurant that night and because we were such a big party they were really depending on our tips. My boyfriend eventually gave her a $20 bill to keep her from bothering us further, but after she left I called my mom and she told me that she had tipped 20%. This woman waited until the adult who had paid left to come out and pressure a group of college students into giving her more money by guilt tripping us about her staff's pay and the amount of space we took up. I don't know if this woman still works here but this experience was so horrendous that I tell everyone I know to never come here.

Yelp
This is my go to place for a great meal and super cozy vibe. Service is always very good and it's a perfect place to have conversations as the noise level isn't obnoxiously loud as it can be in many restaurants. I always love starting with their mussels app. A favorite for sure.

Jackie S.

Yelp
This place has amazing amazing food for a good price point. Both brunch and dinner are amazing. Their menu offers a wide range of foods, all of which are perfectly executed. Only negative - I will say their reservationists are a bit stuck up which is not super great considering it's "neighborhood vibe" location.

Molly G.

Yelp
I've been holding off on writing a review for Metropolis because I'd only ordered take out before. Finally had an opportunity to dine in person last night and I was not disappointed. Ambiance: Metropolis is a cozy space with a U-shaped bar and a variety of small tables and booths. I would estimate you can only see ~40 guests at a time. On a Tuesday night at 7:30 it was fairly busy. We had reservations but there was one other open table besides ours so I think you could get away with showing up without a reservation. Service: Our waiter was great. Attentive and quick to refill the water carafe but definitely didn't hover or make us feel rushed. He had recommendations of his favorites on the menu and checked in with us periodically. The table next to us lingered and chatted over waters and the end of their bottle of wine for a while after paying and no one seemed to mind or rush them out which can be rare at American restaurants. Drinks: we split a bottle of wine so I can't speak to their cocktails but they had a few on the menu that looked tasty. We were very happy with our bottle from the southern Rhone and it paired perfectly with the veal we ordered. I liked that the wine list had a good number of options available by the glass and covered a variety of regions - France, Italy, Spain, Argentina, New Zealand, and California. There was even a Long Island NY bottle but I personally loathe east coast wines so I can't say I'd recommend it. Food: we started the meal with complimentary bread and garlic confit olive oil which was super delicious. If you're a garlic person, it slaps. We split the squash bruschetta to start which in hindsight I maybe wouldn't have ordered if I'd known we were being given bread but also it was delicious so what the heck, bring on the carbs. For entrees we split the truffle chicken risotto and the veal. I thought the risotto was maybe a little too truffle-y (overwhelmed the other flavors) but the texture was perfect. We've tried some of their other risottos as takeout and they're consistently good. The veal was really the standout dish of the evening for me. I recently had the veal parm at Carbone (admitted the Vegas location, not New York) and this one was miles better. I'll definitely be ordering the veal again next time I'm here. We ended with the flourless chocolate cake with ice cream which was good but fairly on par with the same dish I've had elsewhere. I kind of wish I'd gone for one of their more adventurous options like the blackberry crumble. Cost: for the South End in Boston, I thought everything was pretty reasonably priced. A bottle of wine, an appetizer, two entrees and a dessert ran us a little over $200. Thank you for a delicious anniversary dinner, Metropolis! I can't wait to return.

Yelp
Late dinner on a rainy Wednesday on our first night in Boston. Waited for a table that was clearing out. Server was quite busy with a large table for six, and I didn't know the hostess could have taken drink orders! Their loss, because I would have ordered more drinks if the wait for the first wine hadn't been so long! We split a goat cheese salad (iceberg, pepitas, bacon, balsamic) and found the iceberg to be an odd choice here. Tasty but colorless. For my entree I ordered the salmon with shaved root vegetables and a half order of Sweet Pea & Preserved Lemon Risotto. The salmon had an incredible crust from searing on the flat grill. Fantastic flavor and texture. Risotto was tangy and rich, grains all tender. Husband ordered the rigatoni Bolognese with sausage and ate it twice the portion was so large. Very tasty pink sauce. Dessert was Panna Cotta with lemon marmalade and raspberries. Oh my this was fabulous! In the end I did get a second glass of wine, after all.

Yelp
Was charged over $100 for cancelling a reservation days in advance, despite having several openings available at the same time.

Damian W.

Yelp
Food 4.0/5.0 Service 3.5/5.0 Value 3.0/5.0 Decor 3.5/5.0 Overall 4.0/5.0 Nice spot in the South End. Food and drinks were both good. Space indoors can be a bit tight. Would come back.

Rachel B.

Yelp
Got here right when it opened Sunday morning at 10am. The service was friendly and the food came at a reasonable time. I got the BBH AND EGGS and that was delicious! My friend got the omelette and thoroughly enjoyed it. Reasonably priced for a very good breakfast/brunch spot. Would come back & recommend to friends!

Taryn L.

Yelp
Loved my first visit here with friends! They kept telling me I had to come and try the risotto and they were right! I have Celiac and have to eat gluten free, and the waiter was really great at letting me know what my safe gluten free options were. We got the Rope Grown Mussels to start (minus the bread), and I got the chicken and truffle risotto for my entree. Their passion fruit mojito was absolutely amazing and I would honestly come back just for the drink! I had a lovely dining experience, the waitstaff was really friendly, the food was delicious. I will absolutely be back!

Karen I.

Yelp
Everything tasted great here! If you're a mushroom/truffle fan I recommend the chicken and mushroom risotto. You also can't go wrong with the rigatoni pasta, soooo good. Pork was really good as well. The Sriracha glazed Brussels sprouts were AMMMMAZZZINGGG. If you're a Brussels sprout fan you have to try them! Our server Mikey was super friendly and kind as well. We had a great experience dinning here and would definitely recommend for a cute date spot or double date!

Chu H.

Yelp
Ordered mussels, chicken with Parmesan truffle risotto and trout with spinach. Food was good! Cozy and quaint atmosphere and great service!

Denise M.

Yelp
Had a reservation at 5. We arrived right On time and we're seated immediately. The hostess treated us like she was expecting us. Being from another state, the hostess told us what she liked to eat and what was popular. We took her recommendations and totally died and went to heaven. The food was both flavorful and beautiful. I enjoy a dish where you can taste and enjoy layer upon layer of flavor and spices. The food was served good and hot which added to comfort dining experience. We all need a little comfort during COVID. As an added touch of customer service and safety there was a basket of hand sanitizer, and your personal salt and pepper. We also ordered crab cakes; they were good but the star of the evening were the entrees and the excellent customer service. Next time in Boston this place is a must!

Laura H.

Yelp
Love this neighborhood gem! Great cocktails, super friendly staff, the place lives up to it's slogan "Small Kitchen, Big Taste"

Emily B.

Yelp
We've been eating here for years and always have a great experience. The food is consistently tasty and the cocktails are delicious. It's a very cozy place with great service.

Della S.

Yelp
This review is for their Dine Out Boston menu ($33/person for 3 courses), so it may not be the most representative of their regular menu. Sadly the Dine Out Boston menu was a big disappointment... The meal started with some tasty bread that came with roasted garlic in olive oil. The bread was awesome-- super soft on the inside with a chewy crust. This made me very hopeful for the rest of the meal, but unfortunately I think the bread was the highlight for me. For the appetizers we tried both the chicories and herb salad and the shrimp & grits. The salad tasted very refreshing because it had fruits (apples and pomegranate) in addition to a bright, tangy vinaigrette. But it wasn't terribly special and I feel like I could get a similar tasting salad at a typical cafe. The shrimp & grits was nicely seasoned. The grits were shaped into a cake and seared, which formed a crispy base. But again, it tasted like something I could easily make at home. The entrees were pretty disappointing. The braise pork osso bucco was extremely dry and came with a heaping serving of equally dry beans. The seared black bass was tender, but pretty bland and came with another excessively large serving of cabbage. The protein-to-vegetable ratio on the two entrees seemed off balance. I probably wouldn't complain so much if the vegetables tasted better, but unfortunately they weren't anything special. We both got the blueberry miso crumb cake for dessert. The serving was pretty big-- each plate came with 3 small slices of cake. The cake wasn't too sweet and paired well with the blueberry compote and creme fraiche. Food-wise, I was pretty underwhelmed and disappointed by my visit. However the servers were very attentive and friendly. If their regular menu items are anything like the Dine Out Boston menu items, then I definitely won't be coming back.

Katherine S.

Yelp
Honestly I would give Metropolis a 1 Star had it not been for the good customer service. My coworker had heard this was a tasty restaurant, so I came in on a Saturday for brunch with high hopes and an empty stomach! I ordered what seems to be quite popular here, the huevos rancheros. As you can see by my picture, the item that came out was really disappointing. There was what looks to be a slice of Krafts single cheese slabbed onto my brunch order.... they couldn't even melt it for me?! Looking back at Yelp pictures, it seems as if the cheese is normally grated and placed on the order, which begs the question of WHAT HAPPENED?? How lazy can you be?! Aside from the cheese slice, the tortilla strips on the top were stale and the meat in the huevos rancheros was hard :( Honestly, everything with the order was just unimpressive. My friends ordered the pastrami hash and they said that item wasn't good either. There were wayyy too many strike outs during my visit for me to return. Unfortunately, Metropolis was a no for me.

S. E.

Yelp
Great food and atmosphere. We've been coming here for years. Simple menu, but everything is delicious.

Kati D.

Yelp
One of the best meals I've had in months. When you're talking food to eat in Boston, this is it. This is not only a perfect space for small gatherings, but also where to go for the best apps, drinks, and meals in the city.

Manny M.

Yelp
I wouldn't change anything. Service was perfect, it was my first time there but felt like I had known the waitress my whole life. The food came out at a perfectly timed manner. Atmosphere was very warm and relaxed. The food was everything I wanted. Get the SRIRACHA GLAZED BRUSSELS SPROUTS! Never thought a plate of vegetables could taste that good. They have a flaky exterior from the batter giving them a fun texture. The sweet glaze adds a great contrast to the savory sprouts. I don't even like ranch but it comes with a buttery ranch dip that makes the perfect paring. Would highly recommend for intimate date!

J B.

Yelp
So sad to write this. This places has been our go to for years. Many other times we thought she was just having a bad night, but the hostess is quite possibly the most unkind, rude human imaginable. The rigatoni it it's glory days was really special and always a celebratory meal, but now is a pile of overcooked, over-spiced noodles. We ran up a 200$ bill, left a 25% tip, there was ONE other booth taken and the waiter asked us to leave because they "really needed the table" while the hostess shot us death glares. It's not like we were drunk, discourteous or annoying. We were just causally, quietly and respectfully enjoying a special meal. This place has lost its charm and specialness. We won't be back.

Blair F.

Yelp
This was our Friday night dinner outing. I ordered the Salmon over Pea Puree and my wife had a burger. We paired things with two hefeweissens and a hot tea (since it was chilly outside). The food was excellent, the service excellent, and the overall atmosphere as well. The only thing I would have changed is to turn down the music and have something more chill. We'd definitely return though.

Tom R.

Yelp
The 4 of us ordered 3 appetizers, 4 entrees, and 3 sides. Of those 10 dishes, 4 of them were so over salted that they were almost inedible. We should have returned them, but simply ate less than half of those dishes. We were stupid. I'll try Metropolis again. Hopefully the cooks understand the correct use of salt

Rachel M.

Yelp
I took my mom to Metropolis on a cool New England day hoping for a delicious dinner in a cozy restaurant, and that's exactly what we got. I appreciated that the table had hand sanitizer and everything was clean. The server recommended two items on the menu that were fan favorites and they did not disappoint. The chicken and truffle mushroom risotto was delicious. Creamy and flavorful and fresh. It tasted homemade in the best way. The rigatoni was creamy and hearty as well, although I personally could have used more chili flakes and Parmesan flavor. The crumbled fennel sausage was generous and present in every bite. Although the price was slightly high, the portions were large and food was excellent.

Chardinal B.

Yelp
I tried this place on a Monday evening. It's a very intimate setting. I loved the food and drinks options. I had the Rigatoni and also tried the sweet corn risotto. My only complaint is with the Brussel Sprouts. Though they were tasty...you guys need your ass beat for charging that much money for FOUR Brussels sprouts that are cut into halves, fried and tossed sloppy on a plate with some sauce.

John G.

Yelp
Ruben pastrami 80% grisly and thick cut, not a good combo. potatas were and seevice was great.

Jenna D.

Yelp
Had an excellent meal here this past weekend. Great service + exceptional food made for a great night out in the South End. All of the following reviews are from the different individuals that ordered each dish: Brussels sprouts - They are tossed in a delicious sauce, combining sweet with a bit of spicy. The ranch dipping sauce finishes them off perfectly! I could do without so much fried batter on them, but it's easy to break off as needed Crab cakes - fried so lightly that they melt in your mouth. The perfect crab cake Butternut squash risotto - a wonderful fall dish. The nuts, apples, and crispy Brussels sprout leaves on the top were the perfect combo with the pieces of butternut squash Chicken and truffle mushroom risotto - WOW! Standout dish of the night. The chicken is cooked and cut to melt in your mouth perrrrfectly. So much flavor in one dish and seasoned so well. Everyone should order this. Oven roasted cod - "tell Yelp that this was possibly the most excellent dish I've ever had" Apple crumble + flourless chocolate cake - two delicious desserts to finish off a great meal. The chocolate cake was served warm (yum) and was incredibly fluffy for a flourless dessert!!! Overall I would give it a 5/5, and would recommend making a reservation ASAP for your next night out in the area!

Tianna S.

Yelp
From the food to the waitstaff and ambiance this place is perfect for a delicious meal in the south end. We sat inside as it was a little chilly, but they did have a nice patio area out front that was still getting hit by the sun come 5pm which is nice. I got the salmon cooked medium rare (how I requested) which came on top of a pea purée. My husband got the rigatoni with sausage and we shared a potato side dish. All three were so delicious and cooked to perfection. Will definitely be returning to enjoy some more quant meals.

Marissa G.

Yelp
DELICIOUS!!! Every single person in my friends group that I traveled with to Boston agreed that Metropolis was the best meal of the trip! The srirac brussels sprouts are actually incredible. We placed three orders and I could eat this as my entire meal! I got the rigatoni bolognese for dinner but I didn't snag a photo. It was a so creamy and the sauce was sooo flavorful. The portion was filling with the meat. Pictured are the Rope Grown Mussels appetizer. I don't eat seafood but everyone loved these. It comes with a kinda bruschetta tomato base. We also ordered two bottles of wine from their list which was also good and enough for a group of 6! Service was good, not outstanding, but it was busy as it is a super small place. Highly suggest a reservation!

Robyn T.

Yelp
***REVIEW FOR BRUNCH ONLY*** What a great experience this was! From food, to service, to atmosphere. I'm convinced I have the worlds pickiest husband when it comes to food. And the South End is no stranger to exotic food. Walking down Tremont you'll see French, Spanish, Thai...among others. So needless to say anything we visit is a gamble. We decided to wander into Metropolis for brunch. The place is small, but we only waited a couple of minutes for a table. We were greeted by a very friendly and personable server who remained prompt and helpful the entire time. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety in the menu. Yes, they had some more adventurous options, but plenty of options that will appeal to anyone with simpler tastes. I ordered the Metropolis breakfast (2 eggs, toast, sausage, potatoes). Although it's about as standard as it gets, it was still delicious! My husband ordered something similar but with pancakes. He said the maple butter was the star of the show. It created a subtle sweetness that brought something different to the meal. He said he could eat it out of a spoon. Needless to say, we will be back again. Great experience!

Suzanne C.

Yelp
Grant it we were an hour late , however we were rushed out. When it was time for dessert we were told we couldn't because there was an 8 pm party waiting for our table. I wish when we said we were running late another time was offered or the option to cancel was given. Polenta was not the best, table so tiny I wasn't comfy eating my food. Never again ‍

Mimi C.

Yelp
3 out of 3 times, Metropolis continues to exceed my expectations. I tried this place for brunch with my sister many years ago and was thoroughly enjoyed it. I tried the Metropolis Burger a few months ago, it was absolutely amazing. I'm not a burger person but my friend got it for me so I tried it. Not only did I finished it, I started to like burgers. This is how magical it was. Last night, my friend and I dined at their outdoor seating area. There was a heater next to us to keep us reasonably warm. We ordered the hacked chicken and 'shrooms risotto and rock shrimp risotto. I liked the chicken more. This place just keeps hitting the right spots! Must try if you're in the area!

Alan G.

Yelp
Great local place with friendly service and excellent food. Went for a few brunch visits, Great omelet suggestions as well as the chance to make your own. Greek yogurt parfait with a side of honey so you can make the sweetness or tartness of the yogurt to your own liking. Friendly staff. Worth the visit

Scott G.

Yelp
Great neighborhood bar and restaurant. Small, intimate, space. Recommend the risotto highly!

Bob H.

Yelp
Great date spot. My wife and I live around the corner from this place and finally made it over. We were very satisfied. I had the duck breast and my wife had the rigatoni. Both were amazing. The duck was basically perfectly cooked and flavor was awesome. The sauce of the rigatoni was also very good. The service was great and we'd definitely go back with some friends. The place is tiny and reservations were tough. We went really early on a Saturday afternoon and we were okay.

Meghan M.

Yelp
Over ten years later and Metropolis is still a stand out. The menu is largely unchanged - chicken, veal (well, really the cauliflower gratin side) and rigatoni all phenomenal. Salads are all really solid and the Brussels sprouts dish is a sleeper on the app menu. Simple cocktails and solid wine list. And best of all, it's cozy as all heck. Though I no longer live in SoEnd, it's places like Metropolis that make me miss it desperately. Ask any local to the 'hood and it'll be on their top 5 list, trust me

Ellie F.

Yelp
Cozy vibe, kind staff, good food. The burger was delicious along with some nice drinks. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This neighborhood gem is perfect for an intimate dinner or brunch with friends. It's perfect for small groups of four or less with cozy booths and small wooden tables. The décor reminds you of an old fashioned French café and the clientele are mostly Boston locals. Our service was very friendly and attentive throughout the meal. The food was delicious from the complimentary bread and olive oil to start the meal to the main course. I had the Black Pearl Salmon and it was perfectly cooked and included a nice a crispy skin. My friend had the duck leg special which was also delicious and very savory. Don't skimp on dessert here! Both the flourless chocolate pudding cake and lemon meringue tart were delicious. I had the flourless chocolate pudding cake which was served warm and gooey with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Yelp
Always enjoy this neighborhood spot. Bread with olive oil & garlic is delicious (and difficult to not fill up on). On our last visit, had the sriracha glazed brussels sprouts - HOLY MOLY. so good. Probably some of the best brussels sprouts I've ever had - make sure to not miss these. Pan roasted chicken with mushroom sauce was delicious, though could have used a bit more sauce. Regardless, chicken was moist and cooked perfectly. Only dish that fell somewhat flat was the salmon tartare - a bit lacking in flavor, though perked up with some added salt.

Yelp
I'd never been to Metropolis before but my friend recommended it. When I peaked at the menu I loved seeing all the risotto options. I ordered the asparagus and mushroom risotto and my boyfriend ordered the chicken risotto. I gotta say I should've gone with the chicken risotto, it just had a deeper flavor that I felt was missing in the asparagus dish. Also, I don't know if I'm just cheese obsessed but I would've liked more cheese or the option to add some on to my risotto. Can't leave a review and not mention the roasted garlic that is served with the bread, honestly if I had the choice every restaurant would do this! As for drinks I was deciding between the strawberry margarita and the sweet tea and I'm glad I went with the margarita, it was delish. Finally, don't forget to check in because they were running a special for the beginning of May.
