The 15 Best Restaurants in White Center

"Mexicuban serves Mexican and Cuban food, obviously— but it does so much more than that. The menu is packed with items like like tostones, arroz bowls, and sandwiches, while the Fluffy Taco may impress the most. The thick corn tortilla is deep-fried just enough to have structure while remaining puffy and soft, which holds up well when topped with drippy cochinita pibil, plantain, and pickled red onions. Take it to go—just be careful not to splash pork juice on your shoe.  " - kayla sager riley

Mexicuban Review - White Center - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Mexicuban serves Mexican and Cuban food, obviously. However, this spot does so much more than that—they bring the cuisines together like households that watch HBO. Even though the menu is packed with things like tostones, arroz bowls, and sandwiches, the Fluffy Taco is the star of Mexicuban’s show. The thick corn tortilla is deep-fried just enough to have structure while remaining puffy and soft, which holds up well when topped with drippy cochinita pibil, plantain, and pickled red onions. Take it to go, and eat along Alki Beach—be careful not to splash pork juice on your shoe.  " - Kayla Sager-Riley

Google
Pulled up when they were parked outside Locust Cider. Ordered ahead online and it didn't give a specific pickup time (it said 6:45-8pm??), so just headed over when we thought enough time had passed to prep for six people. There was a good vibe with music playing when we arrived for the pickup and the food was ready to take home. There were lots of sauces on offer and they had put some in our order. Enjoyed our to-go items except the fried plantains could have used more sauce. There were a few other items we'd have liked more sauce for too....they were tasty sauces! The pork tostones were the best value! We had the Cuban with extra meat and it was tasty and filling. The yucca fries were big and fluffy, yum! Good all over experience!

Google
Love the cuban sandwich and yuca fries. I usually order at westlake square when truck comes few times a month. I love it but just it's very inconvenient take it to go because sauces that they have there doesn't have any lid. One time I came with my own small containers and put sauces there because I was arranging my husbands business lunch in our high-rise in downtown and took 4 sandwiches to go and sauces.

Google
The fluffy tacos are fun and delicious. The bowls are typically full of flavor and pork is juicy and tender. However there is some inconsistencies between trucks or brick and mortar sometimes items have been over salted or really greasy but over all the flavor and execution is so good it makes up for those inconsistencies! The cubano sandwich is the way to go for sure!

Google
I have been OBSESSED with Mexicuban for over a year now and have literally followed their food trucks all over the state. I was so thrilled to finally check out the restaurant today! As usual, they did not disappoint! The food is to die for, the atmosphere is wonderful and the service is top notch! I don’t give out recommendations often, but I will always recommend Mexicuban! Thank you Camila for serving us and making my birthday extra special with the song and incredible cake! Will be back soon!

Google
Don’t sleep on this humble walk-up counter! Everything here is delicious, the staff has a great vibe, and the quality is consistent. So happy to have this personal staple in my neighborhood!

Google
Big props to this restaurant. Had the pleasure of tasting their cochinita pibil fluffy tacos from their food truck. So delicious - every component was a different flavor bomb in your mouth: juicy meat, flavorful salsa, crunchy tortilla. Everything you could want out of a taco.

Google
This place has absolutely Delicious food with flavor, texture, and the right combination of savory and sweet. The puffy tacos are a revelation and the bowls are perfect for people with restrictions. The conchinita Pibil bowl w/ the fried plantains is probably my all-time favorite but we’ve been steadily trying everything on the menu and everything is delicious. I highly recommend ordering this place for takeout and picking it up as I believe their dining room is closed and they’re operating on a takeout/pick up basis. Super stoked to have these folks in town.

Google
Oh man these guys need more locations. This place is a gem, not a cheap one tho. Everything on the menu is great. It's so hard to pick. I ordered the fried tortilla chicken tacos. So gooood. I wish it didn't have to end so soon, but the portion was a bit small. I almost want to dock a star for the price vs portion, but I'll let them have the 5 star since I'm still happy

Bea F.

Yelp
Didn't realize this was just a window with no sit down service so that was a bummer. Food was good. We'll be going back to trying more selections.

Yelp
Concept seems good but $24 for a small, greasy tasteless wannabe cubano. Fries were horrible. Salsa bland, zero heat. It's one thing to be overpriced if it's worth the hype. This was definitely not.

Yelp
A food truck serving up delicious Cuban-Mexican fusion eats -- they stopped by Marymoor Park for the summer movie series, so stopped by to pick up a dinner on-the-go. The food was a little pricey and their menu a bit limited, but that was expected from a food truck at any event -- IMHO, it was totally worth it. The folks working the truck are so sweet and patient, and worked efficiently to get everyone their food! The food here is DELISH -- the veggie bowl was packed full of flavor and the sauces are so good. The fried plantains and caramel-filled churros were so yummy as well -- the plantains are a MUST! I wish that the brick-and-mortar location was closer to me because I'd be there ALL the time. I'll be on the lookout for when the truck is near me next!

Yelp
First time getting takeout here. It's great, there's a little window and you can ring the doorbell. I ordered the cochinita fluffy tacos and a side of tostones. The pork was cooked perfectly but I will say that it was lacking in flavor. The maduro added to the taco was a great touch though. The sweet and savory combo is my favorite. Would definitely order from here again!
google avatar

Yelp
When I read the menu and saw the photos I knew I wanted to get stuff here. Unfortunately, I found the fluffy tacos lacking in flavor and dripping in tons of oil. The tostones were also rock hard and bland. Service is nice but I was disappointed by the food.

Yelp
I wanted to like this food truck more and they have a great concept but they need to check their seasoning. We ordered a Cuban sandwich and the stuffed potatoes. The sandwich is a good size, the pork was super tender but it needed something, ended up adding lots of red salsa. The yucca fries were good with the chipotle sauce, I think the sandwich could've benefited from that chipotle sauce. The stuffed potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft pillowy in the middle but were my biggest disappointment, the panko breading was perfection but the potato itself had no flavor and there wasn't enough filling to help the situation. I really hope they improve the flavors because it's a good concept and the employee helping us was really nice.

Yelp
Service is great and their cuban sandwich was superb! For their rellenos and tacos -- lack of taste. I've seen other reviews as well that the fluffy tacos is interesting.

Yelp
Ordered from here the other day. Food was made quickly and was delicious. Daughter had the fluffy tacos and said they were very good. I had the Cuban - it was good but I've had better. Needless to say I ate the whole thing! I will definitely revisit this establishment. Give it a try!

Yelp
I have never been to their truck, but when MexiCuban opened a takeout window in a former Mexican restaurant in White Center (will they ever open the dining room?!), I knew I wanted to try it. I have had many things on the menu, but my primary order is always the Pineapple Shrimp Bowl (with extra shrimp). Juicy grilled shrimp with just the right amount of pineapple served over delicious Cuban rice, accented with some acid from pickled red onions and banana peppers. A couple of tostones are tucked in for good measure. There is something about this combo that compels me to scarf this dish down every time. I have to mention the fluffy tacos and the conchita sandwich, both yummy. If I really want to get my tostones on, I order the pork version, which seem to last me for a few days.

Yelp
Grabbed some food here at a concert and it was great! Some items were better than others. The ones that really wowed us were the cubano and the pork tostones, both bursting with flavor. The plantains were good but nothing extraordinary, the chicken tacos were fine, and the yucca fries were the only disappointment (they were cold, which was likely the problem). Especially given the super high volume of orders they were handling at the concert, I was very impressed. I'll definitely be on the lookout to hit up this food truck at other locations.

Yelp
I love Mexican food. I love Cuban food. So, I figured this would be a fusion I can get behind. And it did not disappoint. I have tried the Cubano Bowl, the Platillo Cubano, the Cubano Fluffy Tacos, and the Cochinita Fluffy Tacos. The mojo flavors of their roast pork come through, which I also found to be very juicy and paired well with the fluffy tortillas, which most definitely is not Cuban...but is that Mexican? In any case, I actually really liked the unique fluffy corn tortillas (that are gluten-free BTW). While they did break apart easily after a couple bites, I found the texture to pair well with the flavorful contents. I would also come back for the bowls, as they are packed with awesome flavors and textures. And I am more of a fan of arroz con gris over arroz rojo. At the White Center location, they don't have any areas for you to sit down. So this is strictly to go. They have a window outside with a menu on an A-frame sign. I did ding MexiCuban over two issues: 1. When it comes to yuca fries I much prefer the kind that are thick julienne over the type available here, which appear to be mashed and then preformed into small corndog-like pieces and deep-fried. 2. This has been mentioned in other reviews. I found that when you arrive up to the window to order, the folks taking your order are very cheerful and nice. However, they can't ever seem to get orders right. So I find that it is best to order online. Overall, I recommend trying this place out. They are doing something deliciously different from the usual Mexican food fare available in White Center. Just be sure to order online!

Yelp
We recently had this food truck at work for an event. I was not impressed. I did the fluffy tacos because they only had three options sbd none of them looked great. There wasn't even 2 ounces of chicken on either taco. Hardly considered it a meal and no flavor. Only aye one full taco and the meat from the second one. No thank you. Options should be more abd add some flavor!!!

Yelp
Hit this food truck for dinner and it left me with mixed emotions. We ordered online instead of walking up to the truck window which may have been where we went wrong. The hubs ordered the Cubano sandwich ($15) and I ordered Cochinita fluffy tacos ($13), no cilantro + jalapeños (+$0.50). Grabbed the food and my tacos had plenty of cilantro and no jalapeños. I popped back out to the truck and they said they were out of Jalapeños. Not the end of the world but a little annoying because the up charge was paid. I sort of grumbled that under my breath and to their credit they offered me some churros which I declined. Nice effort on the save and I realized ordering in person would have prevented the issue. Not sure if it was due to the fact that I waited a few extra minutes to eat my tacos while jalapeño hunting but by the time I sat down to eat, the tacos were swimming in oil. Flavors were good but I needed a mile high stack of napkins! The sandwich got a "ok" vote from my husband and everyone liked the yucca fries. Warning if you have a little one, there is no ketchup. Pros Good flavors Yucca fries Fast Cons Heavy on the oil If you have a toddler ketchup junkie you will be SOL

Yelp
Third time eating but first Yelp Review. Yes, I'm am overdue but all three visits have been Yummy. Almost didn't get to this review because I got my order and immediately thought Get in my Belly'. I was half wad though my meal before taking a pic!! Pork Tostones were delicious. The pork is flavorful and tender. The tostones are soft on the inside and crisp on the outside. Savory and satisfying. Looking forward to the next Mexicuban Truck visit.

Yelp
Food is good. If only they had better customer service and competent enough cooks that can actually get orders right. I've ordered through ubereats several times and they've messed up my order almost every time! So disappointing. I have even called the restaurant to ensure it's correct before the driver picks it up on several occasions. I spoke with a manager over the phone at one point and he even went as fast as lying stating he'd email me a gift card. This last time a different employee comped churros which was nice but they still didn't even get my order right! After I received order I reached out to inform them my order was incorrect yet again!! They never responded. They don't care enough to KEEP returning customers. They just want a fast buck. Complete bull! Beyond disappointed, Perhaps you get better service going in. I don't like being lied to tho either.

Yelp
Food was great! Margarita flight was delicious and service was wonderful!!! I would definitely go back when I visit my friends!

Yelp
Tried this food truck and found it underwhelming. Food was cold and not value for money. The menu didn't show the pricing and got sticker shock after the order was placed. The sweet potato fries were cold, the sandwich was cold and greasy and the portions were small. For this price you can get good food in a restaurant with decent portion sizes. Not going back again

Yelp
THIS place was everything plus more. I ordered the Cubano sandwich with yuca fries and men. I wish I would have ordered a second serving. Everything was fresh to order and delicious. The flavors were so savery I still can taste them as I'm typing my review. Unexplained gold mind. Definitely place I'd recommend and eat at again. 14/10
google avatar

Yelp
Just tried this place for the first time at the U District Street Fair. Ordered the chicken fluffy tacos. Jesus, these were super good. They were $15 for two, so definitely a wee bit pricey for my blood. But they were so good, I think I'd order them again! I wish their brick & mortar was near me (I'm a good 30 mins -no traffic- away). I would definitely order here weekly! I'll have to check out where their truck is and pray I'm near it soon!

Yelp
MEXICAN CUBAN FUSION @mexicuban.food * @mexicuban.food creates delicious dishes of Mexican and Cuban that represents the fusion of the owners and creators heritage all compacted into a vibrant and tastefully designed food truck . All of their dishes are extremely tasty with juicy meats, fresh herbs, and perfectly fried sides like yuca fries! Not to mention the portions are huge and the staff is the friendliest! * Here's what we got: Cochinita Fluffy Tacos Cubano Sandwich Combo Cochinita Pibil Bowl Pork Tostones Croquetas Plantains * My favorites (aside from the Yuca Fries) would have to be Cochinita Pibil Bowl and Cochinita Fluffy Tacos . I love that the bowl is a version of the tacos except a build your own style paired with addictingly flavorful rice and beans all to wrap in tortillas on the side! If you want a unique style taco, I recommend the fluffy tacos because it's crunchy on the outside while keeping the same soft and fluffy texture on the inside . Don't skip on their salsas and aiolis to dip it in either, seriously makes it 10x even better than before! * They have a designated location in Roxbury but also have a mobile second location that moves from one brewery to another. I highly recommend grabbing some food and supporting a local brewery they're at. Definitely will be back for more yummy Mexican Cuban fusion .

Yelp
TLDR; There was a rock in my sandwich. Decided to try this truck today at the Saturday Farmers Market near Cornish and was highly disappointed. Got the Cubano Sandwich which is advertised with chipotle mayo, but it was missing from my order. I asked for it, and was told by the staff "No we don't have it". No explanation as to why it wasn't available. I wouldn't have even minded if they just told me they were sold out of it for today. But that's not a big deal right? So I continue to eat my sandwich, and about half way through it I'm chewing another bite and something crunches on my tooth. It felt like when you go to the beach and accidentally get sand in your mouth. Well I spit out my food and THERE WAS A ROCK IN IT. THERE WAS A ROCK IN THE BITE I CHEWED. A WHOLE 3 MILLIMETER SOLID GRANULE/ROCK/WHATEVER. At this point I'd given up on complaining and just chucked the sandwich. Oh and they charged $5 for a single water bottle. Don't come here if you value your time, money, and dental health :)

Amy A.

Yelp
When it's good it's good, when it's not it's not. I've ordered from here many times but have found that the food is highly inconsistent to the point where I am considering whether to order again. For instance, I normally order the cochinita pibil bowl with pork - "diabla" (spicy). Once the pork was almost all fat. Today I ordered the chicken version "diabla" and it came coated in a red enchilada like sauce (which isn't the case with the pork bowl). It was not very spicy and was lacking in the onions and cilantro which give a lot of flavor. It also had this weird burnt/smoky flavor in some bites. I had to add pico de gallo and guacamole to give the meal more flavor. I also ordered the maduros, which usually comes with a mayo sauce. No mayo sauce today.

Cierra U.

Yelp
I had a large order here and it was done super fast. My food was fresh and hot. The fluffy tacos are heavenly and truth be told I can't get enough. Truly delicious. Keep doing a good job; you guys are transforming the food scene in Seattle. God bless you!

jesse v.

Yelp
Mexicuban food is one of the best I've tried in a long time. Their yuca fries are crispy, hot and new. Wide selection and fast customer service. They are also very accommodating when it comes to handling your plate in your desired manner. 10/10 and will definitely bring the fam!
google avatar

Yelp
We are in town from South Florida and were visiting a few breweries in the Ballard area. We ordered 3 bowls and a side of fried plantain. Our food was fast and delicious! Service was pleasant, professional and kind. Served hot, fresh and truly delicious! My bf had the cubano bowl and yucca fries were a nice addition. My daughter and I had cochinita pibil bowl. Wow! Flavorful, colorful, fresh, super tender pork. A large serving too. They had additional sauces available too and we tried a zesty aioli type sauce and a green salsa, ohhh perfection! Glad we stopped by, everyone should check them out!
google avatar

Jeannie N.

Yelp
Pork bowl; amazing flavor but a bit too fatty. Overall very good meals. I had a pork bowl, friend had sandwich and another had fried plantains. I have to say out of all of it those plantains were amazing. I definitely would try other parts of the menu especially more plantains.
google avatar

Roileen D.

Yelp
I really would love to rate them, I was so excited to hire them for an upcoming event. However, no one returned my email about catering. So disappointed.

Emma H.

Yelp
Great food especially the Cubana sandwich. Very nice and clean restaurant. If adventurous try the cucumber lemonade.
google avatar

Larry R.

Yelp
Small but mighty! We've tried just about everything and I can honestly say it never fails to satisfy. My favorites are the bowls, because not only are they delicious but large enough to be dinner and tomorrow's lunch! Love the churros, they were added into our first order as a freebie and dammit, now I'm addicted. Can't speak to the ambiance - I believe they are still just takeout, but appear to be close to opening their dining space. Go for it.
google avatar

David F.

Yelp
I loved the food! I was hoping to dine in, but that appears to still not be available. Had I known that, I would have hit up a food truck of theirs that was closer and not waited on the sidewalk with a cold wind blowing on me. I ordered the tostones with pork. The balance of the dish was absolutely amazing! The soft, meaty pork with the crispy, sweet, salty tostone was a marriage made in heaven! Add in the chipotle aioli, salty cheese, and pico de gallo and it was a symphony in my mouth. I have to hit up a food truck and try the fluffy tacos; they look amazing.

Pam L.

Yelp
Attentive service, fun food choices, lots of tvs to watch the Seahawks. Bigger bowl of guacamole would have given them a 5
google avatar

Devora L.

Yelp
I've lived in Seattle for about 4 full months and up until today all the food has been pretty okay and nothing too crazy. I just happened to be in the area where the truck was today so I ordered some tostones and Cuban sandwiches with yuca fries. It was one of the most delicious meals I've had in the area so far. I highly recommend it. I had my doubts about the tostones since I don't typically like plantains but they were seriously delicious. There's no pictures because the food looked too delicious and we couldn't resist digging in lol.

Laxy V.

Yelp
I went to the food truck in Bellevue DT park. Lacked flavor and freshness. The food was bland and cold. Not worth it for the cost. Disappointing experience and would not recommend .
google avatar

Hoa T.

Yelp
My fiancé got fluffy tacos from this food truck that was at Everett Food Truck event and it was delicious, I tried a bite of it and man that taco is really fluffy and soft. Never seen any place that done that before so it was something different and unique, which I really love! The chicken protein was really well seasoned and it was enough for each taco. Also the pickled onion really pair well with everything to make it sweet and gave it a crunch texture with every bite. I really want to try their other stuff on their menu next time but it's a food truck so they can be anywhere in Washington. But overall I think the food was delicious and will be back next time we spot them on the street.

Hannah R.

Yelp
We've ordered from them many times before and their food has always been delicious. Tonight, though, three dishes we've ordered many times were completely different and the food was inedible. I ordered yuca fries, which I've had from them many times, and was given steak fries (potato) instead. They don't even have those on their menu! The cheese on my daughter's bean and cheese fluffy taco was spoiled, and my pineapple shrimp bowl, which I've ordered many times before, had plain shrimp without the usual pineapple sauce and rice that was hard and tasteless. I tried calling but they never answer their phone. I'm really sad to say this might be our last meal from Mexicuban, which used to be one of our favorite spots.
google avatar

Brooke B.

Yelp
Such delicious food! Their truck came to our neighborhood last month (and are doing again soon, yay!) and we loved it all. The cubano sandwiches were so, so good! Fried platanos are a personal favorite and they aced those. We also got a shrimp plate and fried yucca and the churros. All of it was really good. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Tuan N.

Yelp
Tasty food! Quick Service! All what you would want from a food truck. Ordered the fluffy tacos with pork, the cubano sandwich and the pineapple shrimp. My favorite was the fluffy tacos since the texture was crisp and chewy at the same time and the fried plantain added a nice sweetness. Drenched in their green salsa, it was delicious. The pineapple shrimp was a good portion with big shrimps in a yummy yellow sauce. The cubano was tasty, but the bread sort of fell apart too easily trying to contain the goodness. If you see their vibrant truck in your neighborhood it definitely deserves a stop.
google avatar

Jaynne L.

Yelp
Had the garlic shrimp bowl. The flavors and freshness of ingredients were there. The black beans were great and not mushy. The rice was flavored just right and not too salty. All the tomatoes and lettuce were fresh. I tried their spiciest salsa on the side and it had flavor and heat. The only thing I would say about the shrimp is it was cooked perfectly, but it came with the whole shrimp shell. I had assumed it was already peeled and ready to eat so it wasn't ideal to peel all the shrimp while working with a lot of paperwork. Service and flavor were there. I'll definitely be back. I just unfortunately won't be getting the same bowl due to the shrimp. But that's just personal preference.

Qianyi D.

Yelp
Really unfortunate that they were sold out of Cubano bowl as I really wanted to try that but we did the conchita one instead and it was still quite tasty

Tanya B.

Yelp
I used to absolutely love this food truck. It was in SeaTac today, 20 min after it opened I went down and most of the menu was not available, and the food quality was so bad. I was so upset and disappointed since I always try to visit this truck when it is in the area. I will not be doing that anymore.

Maureen M.

Yelp
Not great - expensive, bland, and not much quantity. The stars are for the music and the friendly people.
google avatar

Angie E.

Yelp
I heard about this place from a gf. She said "get the fluffy taco!" What is it you ask? It's a magical pillow of amazingness that you put in your mouth and omg.. I'm like Homer Simpson drooling right now Their chicken fluffy tacos are deep fried tortillas that taste like a cloud in your mouth. I can't even describe it. Try it! Also, you HAVE to get the tostones! Whenever you go to a Cuban restaurant, you must try fried plantains, and these didn't disappoint! I've ordered from Mexicuban about 3 different times and I'm honestly happy I don't live closer or I'd order everyday Try them out. You won't be sorry!

Ro G.

Yelp
i mean, tacos are good. but not 50$ for 6 good. yal wont survive as a store front.. especially hiring people who cant speak a word of english

Shannon C.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! The service was friendly and fast. I recommend this to anyone looking for some delicious food. Yum, yum, yummy!

Bryan B.

Yelp
Amazing food but even better service! Had a confusing order sitch and wound up with something unexpected but it was totally delicious. I told the truck that I got a bowl that was different than what I ordered but they were busy and I didn't want to wait. Still annihilated it. Lo and behold, half an hour later the team brought me a replacement that I wasn't expecting at all. Everything was delicious and the staff provided great service.
google avatar

Gabby M.

Yelp
Honestly ordering was tough for me because I wanted to try everything! Now the pork on both the tacos and tostarones was so juicy. The pairing of pork and plantains on the puffy taco made such a pairing of salty with a touch of sweet. If you like a salty and sweet pairing I highly recommend it. I grabbed fried plantains they were a bit overdone but I didn't mind ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. They weren't drizzled in condensed milk but it's how I had it as a kid. The tostarones were thicker than I expected but there's a sauce that the drizzle under the pork which does make it different than the taco. I think the tacos shined more imo but I liked both. I'll go back to try other options for sure.

John D.

Yelp
The Cubano was small, expensive, and not particularly good. As far as I can tell it was just a pulled pork sandwich with ham and a couple banana peppers on a small cold supermarket roll. It wasn't inedible, but it wasn't good either. The yucca fries were pretty tasty. The croquetas were mediocre.
google avatar

Tami V.

Yelp
Delicious! We each ordered a bowl- mine was the Cuban. The food was delicious and fresh. And filling! Had leftovers for lunch the next day. This was a find as we walked by but had another thought for food- pizza. After striking out on that, rounded back and so glad we did. The most delicious was the papas rellenos - OMG could eat them no -stop! The salsa, especially green one, delicious! Will look for this truck- wanting more!
