"Sylvia and Peter Foundas, the owners of four-year-old San Jose Greek spot Blue Door, have rebranded their restaurant into a spot called Mextizo Restaurant & Cantina, the East Bay Times reports. It’s now open for outdoor dining and takeout for brunch, lunch, and dinner, with a menu created by a Veracruz-born chef that includes, tacos, seafood-focused appetizers, and entrees like costillas en adobo." - Eve Batey

Lovely Mexican restaurant, on this particular night they had some live dancing 💃 which was nice to see. Food was great as well, we had some fresh guacamole to go with the chips and for our entrees I went with the fish taco sampler and my partner went with the quesadillas which she loved as well. I highly recommend pairing the food with some drinks which they have an abundant selection of. Definitely will be coming back!

Enjoyed coming here on a Saturday morning we got there at around 11:30 AM and there really wasn’t much of a line so we were seated really really quickly. They also gave us complementary chips and salsa which made it very very enjoyable to wait as the main dishes came out. My favorite dish was the vegetarian enchiladas they have sweet potato inside and the cheese and the beans also added a lot to the dish it was definitely very unique compared to others I have had and tasted very freshly made as well. I really liked that the servers kept checking in on us a lot and it felt like a very very nice brunch spot very clean very good outdoor patio seating and very reasonable prices as well. The only downside was that the wait was fairly long to get our main dishes out it was probably around 15 to 20 minutes or so which felt like a lot because the place wasn’t really busy when we had arrived but it was OK because the chips and salsa was still really really good and it made for a really enjoyable time even as we were waiting. Overall I would come back because it was a very good ambience it was a very good meal and I enjoyed trying out Mexican food for brunch.

Wonderful upscale Mexican food restaurant located in a quiet area. Special shout-out for their AMAZING mole enchiladas and hand crafted cocktails. The drinks taste authentic and not artificial. They give free salsa and fresh chips. The staff is super friendly and quick service. They are very busy due to staffing shortages I assume, but they were very attentive. Come here if you enjoy fancy cantina style experiences and don’t mind the slightly higher price you pay for tastier food.

The flavors that come from this restaurant are nothing like I ever tasted before. A new spin on Mexican food. And I thought Luna was good. From the customer service to the presentation and the taste. This place is where it’s at. Amazing tequila and wine selections. Definitely going to return as soon as I get a chance. They serve a chicken tortilla soup that will have your mouthwatering and wanting more and more. Such a great experience. Even the actual Mexican folks will enjoy this. And I am one of them.

Solid place with a really nice outdoor patio areas. Inside also has a great ambience, airy high ceilings with sectioned seating so you can actually hear the people you're dining with :) Food was pretty good, it's pricey but I think it's reasonable for the venue. Complimentary chips and salsa - chips were perfect (crispy, thin, and not oily), and the two salsas were delicious. Vegetarian empanadas - the server and the family seems to like this. I thought it was just all right. The sauce really makes this app. Fried calamari - extra crispy corn based batter. Like the texture but there were some soft/mushy spots and I think the batter could've used more seasoning. The sauce again came to the rescue though! Huevos carnitas - brunch food! Egg over potatoes with carnitas. My fav of the day. Porky tacos - I thought the pork texture was pretty good but a bit bland. It doesn't come with "traditional" topping, I don't know if I loved the spin they put on it. I would give it another shot. Chicken enchiladas - large pieces of soft chicken breast, very tender and hearty. Salmon Yucatanica - enjoyed the refreshing mix of mango salad with the salmon. Would get this again. Service was a tad slow but it was father's day right after pandemic opening. Staff was really nice and friendly. Will be back!

Came on a Sunday afternoon, relatively busy with amicable staff and clean establishment. Plenty of parking around the plaza. Food took a while to bring out but they were courteous to bring the kid plate prior. The typical chips and salsa were okay. The birria tacos were phenomenal with a greasy, juicy bite of tender meat and great salsa to top it off with. The salmon enchiladas were fantastic as a well, good serving size with black beans. The steak plate was also good that was served with a typical michelada. The watermelon drink was also quinched our thirst.

All the familiar Mexican dishes, but with interesting twists by Mextizo. The portions for the entree dishes are good sized (Fajitas Chicken and Salmon a la Yucatan were both delicious). The Enchiladas are a bit smaller portion, but delicious as well. A small cup of guacamole 8s $10 and the small Ceviche is $15, they come with a small bag of chips. Choices for vegetarians are just the stuffed petter or veg tacos (3, for $16). The salsa, red one and green one, were not notable, in fact the green ones were two different colors (likely) old. Mextizo has great ambience and some interesting dishes, Aqui Cupertino has great dishes, organic, and a buffet of great salsas for 50% the price. Do check them out as well.

I had a company dinner party and we got our own private room that was able to seat 10 people. The service was great,we had a very attentive server, he was quick and friendly. The food had a great presentation but was missing some flavor, we all had to add salt and pepper to our meals...salmon, fajitas and chicken mole plates all needed a little extra flavor but I feel like the environment and service made up for that. They have very nice margaritas, cocktails and desert. Thank you Mextizo for servicing our company party.
