Food is extremely fresh. Staff are friendly. The vibe is old school deli in here. I love coming here. I just wish they use more garlic and herbs in their brisket. I always end up adding it at home.

Google
This place is both carry out and dine in! The sandwiches are magnificent! Ordered a Reuben sandwhich. A bit pricey $$$. But… you get your money’s worth! Staff is cool(friendly/international). The wait time is a little long! They close business as early as 3:00 pm. They serve breakfast and lunch in particular! Stop by. Great eats! Bon appetite!

Real Talk

Google
Real Talk this is hands-down the best Brisket spot in DC. I’ve been coming here for about 5 years or so. The service has always been outstanding! When ordering any sandwich but in my case specifically a brisket sandwich, there never stingy or skimpy on the meat they always go above and beyond and actually Bless you with so much meat. They have been closed down for a few months for repairs but just went by today and I’m so glad that there back in business!!!! It looks like they’ve might’ve added some new options on the menu, we tried the Burger and it was on Point! I will definitely be ordering one of those next time I come bye. But I will never fake on my brisket sandwich

Rafael Melo

Google
Definitely my favorite breakfast spot in the city! Because it's tucked off, you don't get as much traffic in there so it's usually chill and the service is great. Portions are plentiful, food is delicious and it's reasonably priced! They also do really great sandwiches for lunch if you miss breakfast. You can't go wrong with anything you order, trust me!

Google
Lets start by saying i worked their in 2015 to 2016 and i was the carver/sandwich maker. I had to ensure that every customer left with a smile and a well peppered sandwich. Anyway my visit to mgm roast beef at 3:35 pm was rather quick no line so the carver/sandwich guy had plenty of time to prepare my sandwich with quality and care. No beef all fat on this brisket, bread soggy. Not worth 10 dollars.

Jahaan Thomas

Google
Family favorite here! While the prices have increased, it is always a treat to myself. The brisket is so tender and juicy! I have tried and failed over and over again to try something new because I’m so obsessed with this sandwich. The staff is always so friendly. There is counter seating and booth/table seats available as well.

Google
Had the French Dip and it was top-shelf! Wish I had a little salt, but really great roast beef (ALL their meats looked terrifically moist). Was nervous when I saw the thick slices, but its super tender. Came off in easy bites. Didn't have to wrestle with it, you know? Au Jus tasted meaty. Really good sandwich with awesome boardwalk-quality fries. Oh, and everybody working at MGM seemed really happy to be there. Thank you! Will definitely come again!!!!

Google
I came here for breakfast. I got a big plate special with scrambled eggs, sausage, french toast and creamed grits. It was very tasty and had lots of flavour and filled me up. I also got a drink of sweet tea with it that I really liked and not something that you come across in Europe. It was a tad on the expensive side though.

Yelp
I am disabled and unable to leave my home most days, so I reached out a few times specifically to inquire if my orders of cups of ice orders were causing a negative impact on their profits so that I can change my orders if so, but I have never heard back. Instead, on Saturday the breakfast menu showed that the $1 for 20-ounce cup, is now to $2, so I didn't order breakfast or ice. The lunch menu showed the $1 price so I ordered a couple of meals for the weekend and ice. As of now, however, the lunch menu reflects the same $2 cost for a cup of ice as the breakfast menu. I'm really sad that they never responded because they have really great food, but alas our relationship cannot be built on ice alone...

Yelp
Casual diner style place with bar/counter seating, takeout line, and regular table seating. Workers here are all friendly and work very quickly The meat is all fresh and carved right in front of you. I ordered the Brentwood sandwich with roast beef, lettuce, tomato, banana peppers, onion, oil, and horseradish. The portion was great for the price, meat piled high. Just wish the meat was more seasoned. Could've used more salt and seasonings. Otherwise the meal was great. I will definitely come back.

Yelp
This is a really disappointing review to write. This is one of my favorite sandwich shops and I've come here for years. They've always been a bit expensive but it was worth it. But $60 for three sandwiches at a lunch counter, and doesn't come with fries or even a bag of chips is too much to justify.

Yelp
We had driven by MGM Roast Beef many times over the years. We finally decided to try this restaurant for lunch. While we did not dine-in, the food arrived at our apartment hot and fresh, via one of the food delivery services. Our sandwiches were fantastic. I especially liked the reuben sandwich, which was stacked high with delicious, homemade corned beef. The roast beef with cheese on an onion bun was also really good. The fries were just fair. Prices here are steep, but the quality of the meal is fantastic.

Yelp
My wife and went into town to see the Tut Exhibit. It was around lunch time so we Googled to find a place to grab a sandwich found MGM close by went in ordered a Brisket on Rye with Horseradish sauce it was so good it brought tears to my eyes. As we were walking out 2 DC detectives walked so that right there tells you its excellent......thank you I almost forgot the service very good nice folks!!!!

Yelp

Yelp
Another hearty thanks to MGM Roast Beef for mKing the holidays easier. Thanksgiving feast pickup and reheating was easy ,and it looked so good we had to sample right away. Joshua was responsive when I reached out about adding to my order at the last minute. The team greeted us at the counter when we arrived inside and got us everything we needed for feeding extra guests. Great quality, portions size and clean, organized establishment for dine-in or catering.

Yelp
Fresh tasting meats and a variety of delicious sandwiches, homemade soups and chili, fresh-cut fries, and make-your-own huge salads. You can't go wrong here. Great people and the waitstaff is hospitable and top notch! Thank you for being the best deli in DC!

Yelp
Short review Working over at Brentwood Yard and MGM is known for their sandwiches Ordered the brisket which comes with coleslaw on it I forget what kind of roll it comes on It was mediocre.... Kind of disappointed because I've had their sandwiches and it really didn't move me Fries were good I wouldn't discourage anyone from going there It was late and they were about to close I do believe sometimes food is hit or miss

Yelp
My coworkers have been talking about this place .so I had a half of day and on my way home I stopped by and ordered the open face Thanksgiving dinner and the open face brisket dinner..and OMG they were both delicious. I think the open face Thanksgiving beat the brisket. But the brisket came in a close 2nd ..a very close 2nd..

Yelp
The sandwiches don't get any more authentic and fresh than this. My go to is the turkey, but be sure to add some sort of condiment, I prefer the honey mustard. The portion size is BIG, and share able. Street parking can be limited, but worth the wait!!

Yelp
I have driven by MGM countless times. I made it a point to stop by today and I am mad at myself for waiting so long. We ordered breakfast and really enjoyed it. The ham is amazing and freshly cooked. The pancakes and waffles were so soft and tasty. The potatoes were well seasoned and delicious. Only thing that would make it better is if they had mimosas. They have beer so fingers crossed many one day.

Yelp
Unfortunately, it's just not worth the price for what you get. I got the French dip, and my partner got the Cajun Turkey. Both is us said that our sandwiches were lacking flavor. The beef wasn't really tender enough to be put on a sandwich - it was hard to take a bite without pulling out a big piece of meat because you couldn't bite through it,The jus also didn't really taste like anything. With our sandwiches coming to $40 including tax and tip, I just can't justify coming back.

Yelp
Today, I ordered a veggie burger and bread pudding to satisfy my sweet tooth. While they cooked the burger, I decided to just have a taste of the bread pudding. It's so good! They have apples in it, cut small so not overwhelming the dish. It came with what taste like fresh whipped cream. I wasn't going to post about this at all but I have to do it. This is why it's 1/2 consumed in the picture. I think you'll get the idea. Speaking of the service here, when they noticed I sat at the counter and started eating, I was asked right away if i would like water and I was given napkins. I can't wait for the veggie burger to arrive! I'm attaching a pic of meat sandwiches that are about to be dressed with whatever the customers want. Look at the size of the sandwiches and all the freshly cooked meat on them. Yummy yummy yummy

Yelp
At first i was slightly turned off by the prices, but the food made up for it! I ordered the Cajun Turkey sandwich and it was delicious. The food was super fresh and it had a great flavor. The portion was also very big.
google avatar

Kerri C.

Yelp
We ordered a French dip, and a steak and cheese sandwich. The dip for the french dip had a bit of a weak flavor, but overall it was delicious. I really liked the steak and cheese and would prefer over the French dip. The sandwiches were a good size, however the price was a bit steep. We'd stop by to treat ourselves on occasion, but it's way too expensive for frequent visits.

Yelp
Great roast beef! My coworker couldn't stop raving about this place and their delicious roast beef. I have to admit, she was right. The beef was juicy and fresh, and you get to watch them make your sandwich right in front of you. There are various sides you can choose from and add to your order as well. I'll definitely be back when I get the next opportunity.

Yelp
There's a reason why they've stand the test of time. Their sandwiches are GOOD!!! No, they are not located in the casino at National Harbor. These guys have been in DC before that casino was even built. Now I know they have roast beef in their name and that's what they're known for, but my favorite thing to get here are their brisket sandwiches. Their brisket is super tender and flavorful. They are very generous in the amount of meat they give you. No one likes when there's more bread than meat so MGM never disappoints in that aspect. The only negative is that they are located so far from me! Get the brisket sandwich. Trust me.

The food was great! I was recommended by a coworker and she did not disappoint me. The food was fresh and quick!!!

Yelp
What's a girl to do when she has to go get her car fixed across town on a Tuesday? She takes advantage of being in the area by consuming deliciousness ;-). I came here today for lunch following picking up my car from the auto shop. I have passed it a few times in the past but never stopped, because honestly, it doesn't look like much from the outside. But man oh man, don't let that stop you. I walked in a little before 11am. There were a few people ahead of me but not busy. When you get in line there are menus and pencils to fill out your order. I decided to go for the Cajun turkey. The sandwich list says no modifications, but I believe that is in reference to substitutions/additions, as I requested no tomatoes on mine and they said no problem. While you're in line you pass one of the butchers/sandwich makers(?) slicing up the roasted meats right there (I'm sure it's to only make you hungrier as you head to order lol). Now to the sandwich, I am not exaggerating when I say it was delicious!! The turkey was seasoned so well and extremely juicy. It's hard to get juicy turkey, as it can often be dry, but they do it just right. It was extremely flavorful and the melted cheddar added to the greatness. It also had sautéed onions and peppers... mmmm it was so good! On top of that, the sandwich was huge. And had so much meat it was bursting out of the bread. I had enough meat leftover to save and use for maybe another dish haha. I was extremely satisfied and pleasantly surprised by the sandwich. I got my sandwich to go but the place has ample seating. The staff was also extremely pleasant and attentive. Two critiques though, first, parking around here is rough, and although I was able to easily park in the parking lot, I'm sure that on weekends or later lunch rush parking isn't as easy. Second, it is kind of expensive. Just the sandwich itself was $12 something. While i know DC is expensive and you do get fresh carved meat here, it is still pretty expensive for a sandwich. However, would i spend that again on another sandwich? 100% yes. Just be conscious of the price and if you're in area, give them try! I definitely recommend the Cajun turkey sandwich.

Yelp
Food I received was horrible. I wish I had a great experience to report as I wanted to try this establishment for a long time. I was every disappointed.

Yelp
Place a group order through Uber eats I always inspect my food before I eat it ! I'm so glad that I religiously check/inspect my food before consumption! They gave me a salad with slimy moldy cucumbers and tomatoes are mushy!

Yelp
Not sure how I lived in DC for years, drove by this place several times and claim to be a self-proclaimed sandwich lover and never ate here but I'm glad that has changed. I think I judged the location since it's on a weird corner on Brentwood Ave across from a Post Office and next to an Auto Auction facility. I'm sure I just wrote it off as another sandwich place with processed meat. Boy was I wrong. I don't eat beef anymore so I tried a turkey sandwich which was awesome. It's awesome because it was carved from an actual roasted turkey sitting atop a carving board. It wasn't dry nor did it lack flavor. As a matter of fact, I really didn't need the sandwich fixins as the meat was good enough alone. If you are into beef, it looked and smelled amazing as it was also sitting atop a carving board & sliced for each sandwich as they were ordered. Only downside is parking is super scarce since it's oddly located. I'd suggest calling your order in or using Grubhub then bringing someone to run in and grab the food. It's a short block so by the time you circle, they should be ready to go. If you go earlier enough, and find parking, there is seating inside also. Now I know where to go for a REAL sandwich.
google avatar

Fatima A.

Yelp
Got their steak and cheese sandwich. I enjoyed it because the meat is fresh and delicious and they also used good quality bread.
google avatar

JB F.

Yelp
Delicious sandwich with a lot of meat. They carve the beef right in front of you so you see what you're getting. A liitle on the pricey side but it's Beef, what do you expect! Great fries and sweet tea. Nice area to sit in.
google avatar

George D.

Yelp
I had the French Dip and it was not very memorable unfortunately. The onion bun was decent. Portion sizes were generous. Fries were surprisingly good, almost to Five Guys level. The beef though was lacking. Overcooked and almost dry. It desperately needed that au jus. Not terrible, just not exceptional either. If you want a real roast beef sandwich, venture up to Baltimore and have Chaps Pit Beef. You wont regret it.
google avatar

Yelp
Unremarkable food for breakfast. The turkey bacon is not crispy, the American cheese atop my eggs was an unmelted rectangle, and the coffee is below average. I ordered grits with sausage and cheese added, and they were plain and just OK. The potatoes aren't crispy either. But the service is where they REALLY dropped the ball -- took 32 minutes for a normal small order! (Side tip: actual prices are higher than the ones on their website's menu.) I ordered one entree "for here" (said that twice), and was given an itemized printed receipt. So far so good. But after waiting 15 minutes, I asked what the holdup was. Service guy took my name and went back into the kitchen. Seven more minutes, no update. I asked a different guy. He checked, and said the kitchen NEVER GOT the order, so they'd start cooking now. WHAT?! How do you just LOSE an order? Reminds me of the Seinfeld skit about taking an reservation, then not honoring it. Same thing with taking an order... Completing it is a pretty key part. After over a half hour of hunger, everything was served in disposable containers, "to go". After 10 years of considering this place, I will think hard about going back. Definitely not for breakfast. Added a star because they were eventually apologetic, providing a free side item, and making a vague offer to help me out if I returned another time. Maybe not. First time I've ever seen a restaurant straight-up forget to cook food!

James W.

Yelp
Not so good. I tried their version of French beef dip and the sauce is basically like water with a little salt... this isn't a dip, just salt water. The actually beef sandwich itself was bland/dry, lacking any kind of flavor. Bun was overcooked, blackened on all edges. Overall wouldn't say it was terrible just nothing spectacular.
google avatar

Renee M.

Yelp
GREAT sandwiches but the price for one has almost reached the $20 mark. O understand inflation but it's been creeping up there for years.
google avatar

Vonetta D.

Yelp
Surprisingly excellent. Not because of any reason other than I've traveled passed this gem for many years not knowing anything about them. Until one day I was waiting in the song line at the social security office. I stumbled upon their goodness. I don't remember what exactly I order. But I remember it was absolutely delicious!!!
google avatar

Hannah B.

Yelp
Saw this place from an IG food blogger and had to check it out. Very much worth the trip. I got the French dip, so mouth watering I went on a Saturday afternoon, so it was a bit slower. The parking lot was full though so we parked on the street. It was really so hard to pick a sandwich, but I'll just have to try out more next time!
google avatar

Mike K.

Yelp
I Asked for rare roast beef. But I Got medium. If you didn't have rare I would have ordered something else.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food but owners are not wearing their masks. They shout across to the kitchen and likely getting droplets on your food.

Yelp
I've heard about MGM Roast Beef for years and finally stopped by on a Saturday afternoon for lunch with my Monday night dinner friend. Here are our thoughts: 1) The location- If this place was on U Street, it wouldn't stick out, but the fact that a highly rated roast beef place exists off of New York Ave is a plus in its favor. It's unique, brings the neighborhood together, and has character. 2) The set up- You can get your sandwich to go or you can sit at the bar or sitting area. 3) The service- Everyone is very friendly and efficient at making sure you are served quick and on time. 4) The food- My buddy got the brisket and enjoyed it. I got the French Dip and was a little disappointed only because there were a lot of fat on it. I assume that's a sign of quality meat, but as a former vegetarian, it freaked me out a bit so ended up picking off 2/3 of the meat. If you love meat, definitely stop here and see another part of town.
google avatar

Corbin J.

Yelp
Food by itself this place probably deserves 10 stars. So I'll start with the greatness of the French dip. French dip is my go to sandwich whenever I go. I've tried a couple other sandwiches, like the Down South and the Cajun turkey, which were also good but I know what my favorite is. Food always comes out hot and fresh as you watch them cut the meat right in front of you. Take out orders travel very well and the freshness still lasts by the time you make it to your destination. Now why 4 stars instead of 5, if it's the best hand carved sandwich I think I've had?? EXPENSIVE! It's delicious but it's a once in a while place I can go to. Normally you think going out to grab a lunch combo you'll spend between $8-$12. Nope. Get ready to spend $20, which isn't always what I'm trying to spend when running to grab lunch during the work day. Other than having to spend enough money for 2 meals, the parking isn't ideal. Since it's a very popular place, especially around lunch time, parking fills pretty quick. There are only about 7-8 spots in the lot, so be prepared to hope someone's leaving or park on the street/sidewalk. Long story short....you will not be disappointed by this place!

Cliff H.

Yelp
Had the French Dip and it was top-shelf! Wish I grabbed a few salt packets, but really great roast beef (ALL their meats looked terrifically moist). Thank you for a great lunch! Will definitely come again!!!!

Yelp
Ok, if this place does not define hidden gem, nothing does! Had a coworker take me there this week. They bragged on the sandwiches till I said, prove it. The sandwich was so filled with meat that I had to bring half home for dinner! Carnival type fries! Fast, great service and top notch food. I will return!
google avatar

Mo O.

Yelp
The attention to quality here is the secret to their success. Even delivered, this is the only place I know to get old-school, top-quality sandwiches with REAL MEAT!!! No Boarshead fakery here thank you very much! When they talk about turkey, they're talking about real ROAST TURKEY MEAT! If that excites you, and you're happy to pay a few bucks more for the REAL THING, you just can't go wrong here. You HAVE to get the brisket! And the ham! I can never pass up the open face turkey sandwich either -- with stuffing!!! Where can you get stuffing these days??!! It's good stuffing but in the spirit of MEAT IS LIFE, it'd be ADDICTIVE with the drippings and roast meat debris added to it -- hint hint -- and definitely a side I'd have to buy. The Rueben, French Dip, BLT, Open Face Thanksgiving are amongst my favorites, and the fries are awesome too. You also can't pass up the CAKE -- it's delicious, whatever the flavor -- the lemon cake was perfect, with a generous yet true lemon flavor -- oh man that icing!! -- that you'd be lucky to find at a bakery. Why oh why didn't I buy the red velvet cake too?! Rookie mistake.

Yelp
Stopped in to visit MGM roast beef on my lunch break. I did not have to wait long to order and everyone was friendly who worked there. I ordered the steak and cheese and it took about 10 minutes to prepare. The sandwich was pretty good and I would definitely order it again. The bread was softWith a crispy edge. The meat could've used a bit more seasoning but still was very tasty. Overall I'd say this is a great place to stop in to get a quick bite to eat on a lunch break.

Yelp
Amazing. I have been wanting to go to MGM for a while but the hours make it a bit difficult. Anyways, I finally made my way! I had the Thanksgiving sandwich and it was out of this world. I was also surprised by the amount of seating inside. I have driven by this place a million times and for some reason deemed it a carry-out only spot. The setup is really fun inside. You can see them putting together your masterpiece and they have a fun counter to sit at along with ample seating in the back. Don't skip this place! One of the best sandwiches in DC and I cannot wait to come back! Totally have my eye on a french dip my next go-around!

Yelp
Great, great sandwiches! I love the food. I wish the top round could get put on a grill until well done, I don't like getting brisket all the time, I don't like fat. But the food is good, customer service is great. You won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Jenifer S.

Yelp
Got another great roast beef sandwich today, take out and pickup orders only. It was rare top round on rye with loads of horseradish, lettuce and tomato. Last time I had the brisket as they ran our of top round but it was just as good as today's juicy sandwich. They close sharp at 3pm now, I believe, due to covid.
google avatar

Janal J.

Yelp
Amazing sandwiches ! One of the best sandwiches in DC, great quality products. Will be a many time return customer
google avatar

Tiffany L.

Yelp
Pretty good but portions were on the smaller side. I guess when I browsed through the pictures I didn't compare the size of the sandwiches to anything but itself. So when my husband brought back two sandwiches I thought they'd be larger. Aside from the size, the taste was on point for a roast beef/put beef sandwich shop. I loooooove me a good roast beef and this was was super satisfying. Definitely stop by if you're in the area or near the national arboretum! Perfect lunch meal.

Joy L.

Yelp
I ordered a salad with brisket and top round. The meat and all veggies I chose were amazingly tender and fresh except for one thing. I selected blue cheese dressing, but I got this factory made dressing. If it was store made fresh one it could have been 5 plus stars.
google avatar

Janet G.

Yelp
My husband surprised me with lunch. We have been waiting to try this place out and it didn't disappoint. Food was delicious. Sorry, didn't even think to get a picture that's how fast it went.

Yelp
Not a bad place.. parking sucks. It was a bad idea to come today thinking there was no traffic. End up taking over an hour because of 395 closed down. 1. Brisket sandwich combo 2. Extra meat Since I drove so far end up taking one sandwich home 1. Turkey with ham
