It had been years since my last visit to Mi Cocina in Highland Park, and I’m happy to report that it’s just as wonderful—if not better—than I remembered. The service was as impeccable as ever, the atmosphere warm and inviting, and the staff went above and beyond to make our experience special.
Due to gluten intolerance and strict dietary needs, I rarely eat out. But Mi Cocina made me feel completely at ease. One of our servers—whose name we unfortunately didn’t catch—was incredibly attentive and helpful, and he kindly recommended a simple grilled chicken breast with plain rice and salad to meet my dietary needs. It was exactly what I needed—clean, fresh, and satisfying. He also explained that while Mi Cocina is gluten-free friendly, there is a possibility of cross-contact, which I deeply appreciated for its honesty and care.
Our other server, Alfredo Aguilar, was also warm, attentive, and professional, helping make the entire dining experience smooth and enjoyable. The hostess greeted us with a friendly smile and set the perfect tone for our evening.
We were a party of nine celebrating my nephew’s birthday, and he was thrilled with his favorite ribeye. The Mambo Taxis were also a hit with the birthday boy! We chose a less busy time to dine so we could enjoy each other’s company with fewer distractions, and it made for a truly relaxed and memorable afternoon.
The only downside was the construction in the parking lot, but honestly—it was well worth it. From the food to the service to the atmosphere, Mi Cocina Highland Park delivered a truly wonderful experience.
I have so many fond memories of past visits, and after this one, I look forward to making many more.
