This Nearly 20-Year-Old Mexican Restaurant Now Hosts A Buzzy Bakery’s Pop-Up | Eater Portland
"Launched as a permanent weekend morning pop-up in late May inside the cantina’s space, this family-run café is operated by members of the Azcorra family who have long ties to the local Mexican food scene. Open Friday–Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., the menu highlights traditional breakfast dishes — menudo, chilaquiles, milanesa — plus a $10 bombazo on a sourdough English muffin stuffed with bacon, baked eggs, avocado, tomato, Swiss and cheddar, and a homestyle arroz con leche from the family cookbook; coffee is supplied by local Mexico City–born roaster Adriana Lopez’s Tostado Coffee. Brothers split front- and back-of-house duties, patriarch Gabriel (“Papa Gabe”) brings family breakfast recipes to the grill, and the café plans to add bloody marys, mimosas, micheladas and other brunch cocktails once the liquor license is approved." - Paolo Bicchieri
