Visiting Stockton stopped at MI Ranchito Cafe for breakfast, ordered the Spicy Nopales Rancheros/eggs with Chicharrones, great taste, good portion, excellent choice, if in Stockton worth a visit the Cafe has a history going back to the 1950s.

I find it ridiculous that the waitress, I believe her name is Rose, doesn't take a second of her time to tell customers that they charge extra for eggs because of shortage. She claims there's a note/sign posted in the front but most people don't and/or don't know how to read. They need to work on their service better

I have been coming here for over over 30 years. Family owned amd operated. They treat you like family. The food is the best!!! The flour tortillas are fluffy and delicious the best I have ever had. Will keep coming back forever.

Finally went to this restaurant with some friends. It is their favorite Mexican Food place not sure it is mine. Everybody has different likes when it comes to food. The food was fresh and tasted good but in my opinion, too much sauce (which I thought was a bit watery - again my opinion) for the dish I ordered, which was Chilaquiles with eggs. The eggs had been scrambled not fried eggs put on top like I have had at other establishments. My friends had Huevos Rancheros with Chili Colorado and his wife had a Wet Chicken Burrito. Their meals looked good, so maybe it was the dish I ordered. I was told that you have to go for breakfast or lunch to get the fresh homemade tortillas. They were tasty. Our server was attentive. Anyway, if in the area maybe you give it a go. It is a well known restaurant in the area and has been there for years.

Google
Very good food. At first I was a bit skeptical because their salsa for chips isn’t that good, and the horchata I ordered tasted like the powder kind. I kept my hopes up for a better meal, and I was surprised at how good everything we ordered was. Very delicious, and fast service. Friendly service too. I am definitely coming back, maybe not for another horchata but definitely for their quality food. Pictures of Menudo, Chile Relleno, Camarones a la Diabla, and Taco Plate. All of this food was soooo good!

Oh man we came and ate during the holidays and oh man, very homey feeling, very wholesome, this is the place to come during the holidays great food great ambiance, great service 5 stars all around🙏🏾🙏🏾

Google
Haven't been here in years! Met up with a friend for an early lunch. I had the chilaquiles with chorizo, rice, and beans. My friend had cheese enchiladas with over easy eggs. The food was delicious and our server was very attentive. Need to come here more often!

Patricia Ramirez

Google
Hadn’t been here in years and was looking forward to it but was really disappointed with the chilaquiles I was given. They just piled a bunch of chips on my plate and poured salsa on top it seemed like it.

Reggie D.

Yelp
The chips are great, I had to ask for a hotter salsa which they did give me promptly however it really wasn't much hotter than what we already had. Otherwise, we have a great dinning experience and I highly recommend this restaurant now. I have been there so many times and it hit or miss but now they seem to be on a great run. I'm very picky on my eggs and they nailed it on the first time. There are only a 3 places that have done that so I give them 5 stars just for not having to send my food back. Our waitress was attentive and happy and made our experience wonderful. The entire staff checks and makes sure you are happy with your and drinks. FYI: I suffer from migraines and noise triggers it. So if noise is an issue do take out!

Anahi N.

Yelp
Food was very dry and the chicken was not seasoned. Wish i had gotten something else.

Michael T.

Yelp
Great food and great Service. Been coming here for over 50 years. My go to spot for 209 Mexican style. Don't be fooled by location. Its a safe area and clean.Highly recommend!!!

Jeanette T.

Yelp
Busy and lively inside. Seated quickly took our drink order then waited a while for someone to take our order. The waitress that took our order was not friendly at all. The first waitress that sat us down was very nice and engaging. Let's hope the food makes up for the lack of friendliness we received from the second waitress. The food was a little off today. The beans weren't serve hot and didn't taste as good as they normally do. Chile Colorado was very good. Tortillas I like them different from ones I I make or other places but if you come here you know and you either t like them or you don't. Everyone was please with their meals.

Yelp
Never fails every time we eat there wonderful food, service, and ambience. real authentic

Yelp
I ordered chili verde and this red sauce came out. Most chili verde I get is green not red. It tasted nothing like chili verde.

Yelp
A few days ago I was near by this restaurant so I decided to stop by as I remembered how much I liked their homemade tortillas. They're thicker than normal and warm and soft. I remembered that they had pretty good food, well they used to have pretty good food here. I ordered a 3 item combo. I was very disappointed unfortunately. The chicken taco had chicken so dry it was like cardboard in there. The enchiladas were decent and that's why I gave 2 stars. My most disappointing part of my meal was the tortillas. I asked for the homemade tortillas and the lady said, "Oh yes I will put those in for you, don't worry..." Well I guess I needed to double check because she didn't give me the homemade tortillas after all. I guess I had fool written across my forehead. It's times like this I feel it's pretty stupid to tip on to go meals. I gave a generous tip to someone who lied to me and threw my taco on top of the food like it didn't matter what my plate looked like or if I had a crunchy taco when I got home. I was very disappointed and needless to say I won't be back there. It's no longer a favorite for me. Hopefully you have better luck when you go there. By the way what's up with their bathroom??? I almost couldn't stand to be in there. The smell is horrible. It literally smells like something dead in there. Something has to be wrong with the plumbing or something. I don't know but if I was them I'd close that one down and make everyone use the 2nd bathroom that's in the other part of the restaurant. Good luck.

Yelp
If You want to eat at a Great Mexican restaurant: You Gotta try this place. The area Not to Good But it's the Food your going for. Started Eating there when I was in High School. 67 years later still go there whenever I come into town for a visit.

Dean B.

Yelp
Their food has been great for the many years I've been going there. The last three visits, including today, have been disappointing because the food sits and arrives warm, not hot. The cook(s) set the food on a warming shelf but they don't deliver it to your table timely. I brought this to the attention of the owner all three times and his response was "you can't tell us how to run our business". My response to that was I'm not, I just want hot food. They either need another server or the owner might want to assist when they're busy. Nobody wants cold eggs! At the last minute before serving the waitress adds the hot beans so the plate is warm from the beans but the Machaca is NOT!!!!

Breanne M.

Yelp
I decided to give this place a second chance. Hoping it was just busy the first time so the food was bad. But that's not the case. Second time around I sat down looked over the menu which doesn't have much options. I ordered but while I was waiting I had to ask for chips and salsa after 15 minutes of waiting. Food came out and it was room temp. The chile was soggy and cold. The meat (beef) was boiled you could taste the residue that comes off on beef when you boil it. There was no seasoning to the meat whatsoever. The rice also has no flavoring no amount of salt could help it. However the beans were great. I'm not a bean person but they were good. The lettuce in the taco is salad mix. It has carrots and red cabbage in the taco. The salsa is very salty no heat to it and large bits of spices to it also very watery. However they do have the best ice! Never again.

Alexandra S.

Yelp
No! Absolutely not! Would never recommend. We were seated within 10 minutes of arriving, ordered our food soon after but we're not served until almost an hour of placing our order! The food was bland. I asked for extra spicy chilaquiles and they failed horribly! Not even a tingle of spice. My daughter asked for tacos and those lacked in flavor as well. The side of fries were disgusting. Don't bother ordering the cheese gravy, that wasn't all that great either. Our waitress was nice and friendly but we came to eat and left extremely unhappy. Ambiance was family oriented.

Aaron E.

Yelp
So, how the heck does a restaurant turn an enchilada into a soup? So watery it could have eaten it with a straw. My wife ordered the juevos rancheros and it too came out floating it red sauce. The tortillas were dry and flaky, and COLD. I could have used them for skeet shooting practice. The worst to come was when I ordered breakfast potato's and they brought out dried out French fries. Makes sense because of how long we had to wait just to get our slop (30 minutes). Wtf? Anyway, this place sux. Save your money and go to any taco truck on Charter way.

Sal M.

Yelp
Delicious brunch , service was good, atmosphere was chill, will definitely be back again.

Tania A.

Yelp
Very good food, tastes like my mom's homemade food. Loved it! Service was great as well and I liked the music they played (:

Marc S.

Yelp
I've been coming to Mi Ranchito for many years. My wife has been coming here since she was a child. And now when we come to Stockton we always take our son and his Grandma to one of our favorite places Mi Ranchito. So good. I always get the same thing: Huevos Rancheros Con Chile Verde with whole beans and rice. Served with their thick hot tortillas it's just perfect for me. My wife and kid love the carne asada burrito and everybody loves the cheesy but messy chips and gravy. The service can sometimes be a bit slow and other times things come out quickly. I suppose it doesn't matter because we will keep coming again and again for our favorite Mexican food in Stockton.

Thomas N.

Yelp
Food was the boom!!!!! Service 4 Stars atmosphere was like old town Mexico. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for Mexican food made the right way.

Dave F.

Yelp
One of Stockton's longtime establishments, Mi Ranchito has been an authentic go to before taco trucks were a "thing". This trip was just a quick lunch at the counter by myself. Chile Colorado, rice, beans and two handmade tortillas, not much can go wrong here, and it didn't. With quick service and hot coffee, perfect on a cold drizzly day!

Tony L.

Yelp
was hungry for some chicken enchiladas(again ). I ordered them. Same good flavor. tortillas are made in house, Place has been around for a long time. Same good flavor same good service. Wish there was a restaurant like this on my side of town but it's worth the drive.

Daphne J.

Yelp
Absolute HORRIBLE service. Waited over an hour for our food. Our waitress never checked up on us the entire time we were sitting. We had to go up there and ask where our food was at and at that point, it took so long that we just got our food to go. Will never go here ever again.

Debra D.

Yelp
Went here this morning as we have been doing for many years. Waited 40 minutes for our food ( which never arrived due to some lame excuse) . As we patiently waited for our order, two other couples entered a good 10-15 minutes after we did. Our patience wore thin when the first couple was attended to within 5 minutes of entering the establishment and then second couple received their order a few minutes later. The perception that we were purposely made to wait was enough for us to get up and leave. Then the waitress (Angelica) informed us that ours was taking longer because I had a special order which was chorizo and eggs!! This insult to our intelligence was a bit too much to bear, hence this review . The owners have always treated us with respect and it's a shame they have to babysit some of their staff. They will not be too happy to learn that we left their establishment to go and spend our hard earned money else where. JLR

Noemie M.

Yelp
I've been going here for over 7 years and ever since Covid the food has gone down hill. These people are very rude, they have attitude every time you ask for something. This place should be closed down or at least change owners.

Rosalie F.

Yelp
Listed as having outdoor patio & dogs allowed. Stopped on our drive down from Seattle, after visiting a near by dog park.... Place does not have a patio. Disappointing!!!

John A.

Yelp
Just had a horrible experience on Christmas Eve. I was meeting a friend for breakfast and placed the order for both of us. I have been coming to the restaurant for years and my friend's family would come for breakfast every Sunday after church. My friend walked in the back room to inform me we have to leave because the owner said he is not welcome. When asked why, the owner said it was guilt by association since his friend and the owner had some sort of falling out. Again, this is on Christmas Eve when my friend had nothing to do with that fallout. My family and friends will never attend this restaurant again,

Roger T.

Yelp
Good beef tacos, and chicken tacos. The refried beans are pretty good. The corn tortillas are substantial. The sauce ,served with the chips,is not too hot.Its just right. This is a popular restaurant, based on the number of customers here. The prices are very reasonable. This is our new go-to place for Mexican food. Roger & Lilia Terry Stockton,CA

Hai L.

Yelp
I have to visit this restaurant again sometime in the future for dine in. Ordered for take out and had the steak and eggs. It came with fries, beans and tortillas as well for over $13. Although the presentation sucked, the steak was very juicy and had a lot of flavor. Server wasn't very friendly so my rating lowered down.

Araceli Q.

Yelp
This is not the place is used to be. Service is terrible we waited so long for a waitress to come to our table and take our order. The tortillas are not homemade anymore and are awful. Never go back again.

Marcus K.

Yelp
I went to eat here this morning with my mother, brother, sister in law, and very young nephew. When we walked in it was awkward, but thought nothing of it. We were told where to sit so we sat there. We weren't given menus until someone came to take our drink order 15 minutes after being seated. We remained calm and polite and placed our order after a few minutes. After getting our drinks and then our food. Nobody came to check on us or see if we needed refills the entire time we were eating. We had to ask for silverware when our food came. Every other table was getting great service and we were overlooked through our entire dining experience until it was time for me to pay. I won't be back there again. When asking where the restroom was, we were rudely told where it was. I STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!!

Rosy R.

Yelp
Food has no flavor, it is not authentic Mexican food, you can notice it in the canned sauces and pre-cooked rice. Coffee tastes like bleach . I wouldn't recommend eating at that restaurant.

Tanisha H.

Yelp
This is such a fabulous restaurant. It's a staple here in Stockton. Reasonably priced. Always delicious & hot. I ordered the Machaca with flour tortillas, refried beans, & no rice. Beans were amazing, as always. Machaca was on point. I cannot remember what my dad ordered but he liked it. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Alven C.

Yelp
The last time I was there the restaurant has a sewage problem and it is extremely difficult to enjoy your meal with the smell of raw sewage. Mi Ranchito had had this odor inside for nearly a year. I was hoping that is was taken care of when I revisited no such thing. Why hasn't been there any mention other than mine Maybe regulars are used to it and accept the smell. Repair your lines this is a health hazard, your restroom are filthy and have the same odor. I just left my order paid and left Will it take something reporting.

Marc R.

Yelp
Nothing like sitting at the counter and eating the Best MACHACA in town. Also, if the tortillas are round it's not Mi Ranchito.

Jason J.

Yelp
Always good food u can never go wrong here. I give it a 4 because I come here all the time. It's just like any other restaurant the food is up and down depending on the cook. But it's always good to me

Mona A.

Yelp
I ordered Camarones a la diabla from Mi Ranchito & I was given this which is def not made right. They literally used the salsa from their chips & salsa, green bellpeppers & onions. I've eaten this dish all my life in Mex & Ca. From what I am aware of this dish has a tomato/ketchup base with spice. This was not it. I spoke up to an elder man in white shirt with logo while paying tab. Told him I left plate full of food & brushed me off with "that's your opinion it's been made like that here since 1950 blah blah blah ". No apology or we will look into recipe, nothing! I Will never support this business nor my family & friends will ever again. We also were seated in a side room left unattended without anyone checking in on us for drink refills or anything!

Misty J.

Yelp
Went to breakfast on Saturday it was a first the tortillas where Burt and hard and lacked flavor !!! Maybe a new cook idk just horrible!! I will try it again cause it is usually delicious smh

Ross P.

Yelp
Best mexican food hands down. Very few places can compete here and its a establishment locally known by many for a long long time. Its authentic inside sometimes offering mariachi music too! The service staff is always friendly and asking if you need more. Big portions!

Eladio C.

Yelp
Mi comida estaba muy mal los frijoles refritos estaban hechados a perder no tenían tortillas de arina que porque estaban muy acuñados Me cambiaron los frijoles por arroz y estaba muy duro.

APro K.

Yelp
Door Dashed Caldo de Pollo today. This does not taste homemade at all. This is can broth with extra salt, a few pieces of chicken and my veggies are still crunchy. They literally threw everything in the to-go container and poured hot can broth over it. Don't order this!

R N.

Yelp
Food was yummy. You must get the homemade flour tortillas they are delicious. Took along time to be waited on and served on a weekday at 11am ish.

Robynn F.

Yelp
Amazing food. Awesome prices. My new favorite Mexican food place!!! O work graveyard shift, so getting dinner at 830 in the morning was a huge plus.

Raquel R.

Yelp
Alex Alex Alex... your food is stellar and 5 star worthy but the service is not( the reason for my 3 star review... this is not for all waiters/ waitresses in your establishment but for the most part their service can make you never want to come to this establishment again. I'm sure you have had enough complaints to figure out which ones are sinking your business.

Sonia A.

Yelp
It is sad that one of my favorite restaurants is cheating their customers by drastically reducing the amount of food you get on a to-go order. I ordered machaca and was disappointed to see about 1/4 cup of beans. 1/4 rice, and about 1/2 cup of machaca.

An L.

Yelp
Chiliqiules with chorizo rice and beans are delicious! Place has a lot of seating and staff are very nice, price is also reasonable. Definitely recommend for mexican food!

Lindsey C.

Yelp
I've been coming to this restaurant my entire life. Salsa alone can make or break a Mexican restaurant. This place serves fresh house made salsa with a combination of tomatillos and chiles with just a touch of cilantro and scallion that is tangy and delicious. I also recommend their picked jalapeños. The food is great, and I would assign it five stars if the service was just a tiny bit better. My favorite dish here is the huevos rancheros, I recommend ordering it with extra sauce. It is served without a corn tortilla beneath it and topped with a rich tomato sauce with stewed bell pepper and jalapeños. I also like the machaca y huevos. The tortillas are made in house and are thick and dense, very good for dipping in the ranchero sauce. Try it. The wait time can often be long. I recommend getting here early, particularly on a weekend. Seating fills up fast. If you can, sit on the left side, which is Zocemo's section. He is the star waiter of this restaurant, and actually in the top three waiters I've ever had. He is attentive to detail, will remember if you order something regularly, and the specifics on your ordering. He is charming and the top server in this business. He should be recognized for this achievement. Sadly, the other servers pale in comparison, often messing up orders, forgetting items entirely, and taking too many breaks when the kitchen has the food ready. My main tips are to get here early and only sit in Zocemo's section, even if it means sitting at the bar instead of the booth. You'll be happy you did.

Linda S.

Yelp
I'm rarely in this side of town, but when I am, we come here. The first time I been here, it was pleasant. I ordered the machaca upon recommendation from my friend and it was alright. After paying, one of my friend took a sip of her water bottle from her purse, the owner snapped at her for having outside drinks. That was a crappy first. Like chill... it's just water and if we were tended to for water refill, she would've been fully hydrated and wouldn't felt the need to reach for her water bottle. The second time we came here, I ordered David's special I believe. Tasted way better than the machaca. Not the best home made flour tortilla that I've had, but definitely one of the better salsa they serve with chips.

Vanessa O.

Yelp
Still great food! I love this food because it's not the typical restaurant style Mexican food and tastes more like a grandma made it. I will say service could be better but it isn't terrible.

Gina M.

Yelp
Would have given 5 stars if the waitress wasn't so rude. The food is really good but the service really sucks!

Vanessa M.

Yelp
Placed an order on the phone for pick up and the lady was very bitchy. I simply asked roughly how long the order would take so knew what time to pick it up and she proceeded to say "oh my god" and just hung up. Very unprofessional and for sure NEVER getting my business again. If I could give zero stars I absolutely would. Word of advice LEARN HOW TO TALK TO YOUR FUCKING CUSTOMERS.

Curtis R.

Yelp
I did a DoorDash from here yesterday the food looked so good I came back today and had Enchiladas special one red / one green with cheese Rice and beans, chips and salsa! It was definitely worth coming!
