Google
wow perfect place to celebrate my birthday. Love the atmosphere, very Welcoming and inviting. lots our out door seating with tables you will need see anywhere else. food is amazing and made to perfection. But nothing beats the friendly staff. They even gave me a birthday card along with a gift card. Looking forward to coming back in the evening with the lights on the trees. The horchata latte is a must have!!!

Google
Great place in a new location just down the road from the original. Tamales always great here. Guacamole chunky and fresh. Simple, not too much to get in the way of avocado. Tried the Mexican Burger for the first time recently. Blew mis calcetines off! Quick counter service ordering. They deliver the food to table, and self serve salsa bar. Great salsas

Went there for the first time for breakfast a few weeks ago. Sat on their comfy patio with our dogs. Owner was super nice and brought us water for the pups. I ordered their breakfast plate with eggs, pork chop, sauteed potatoes and black beans. The pork chop were marinated and were some of the best I've ever had. On a couple return visits I ordered several of their tacos. All were extremely flavorful and a superb value for the money. I've been in Texas for over 40 years and this has to be one of the best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. Service is friendly, gracious, and always done with a smile. I am a returning customer for sure. Can't wait to bring the whole family.

Google
Very well maintained restaurant that is inviting and well maintained. The tables are a little close to one another and if one person at one of the tables has a chair pushed out too much, you may find it difficult to squeeze through. The staff was excellent! From the initial greeting to the final check payment, everyone was kind, courteous, helpful, and friendly. The options for plates was great. I decided on three tamales. 1 veggie, 1 jalapeno and cheese, and 1 strawberry. The plate came with beans and rice. When the plate arrived, it looked excellent and smelled delicious! Sadly, I went to eat the veggie tamal and it was mostly masa. It had a good flavor, but it was just too much masa. The jalapeno and cheese was no different. There was way too much masa and not much filling at all. It was like a tamal made of nothing but masa and a little cheese on the corn husk. But let me tell you, the masa was delicious, so the spicing and flavoring of the masa is superb! The strawberry tamal was different. It was evenly spread throughout the masa d almost had a jelly-like consistency for the masa. Overall the flavors were good, even if they didn't have much filling. The star of the plate for me was the barracho beans!! I've never had beans that tadted this good. It wasn't too salty nor filled with the overwhelming flavor of cumin. It was gently feathered in with the rest of the flavors, but it wasn't the main focus of the spices. Excellent beans!! Definitely, you should try this place. They are worth your time. My only suggestion to the chefs are to be a bit more generous with the fillings for the veggie and j&c tamales.

My daughter and I were passing through Manchaca and decided to stop here for lunch. We had passed by on our way somewhere else and noticed it had a good amount of people and seemed to have a good atmosphere. This was our 1st time here. Looking at the pricing, I figured it was a full-service restaurant. However, it is not. You make your order at the counter and then they bring your order to you. Everything else is self-service. I had the chicken mole' enchiladas. They were good, but the rice was clumped together and the charro beans seemed undercooked. My daughter had the cheese enchiladas. She was hungry so she ate one & then didn't eat anymore. I tried the other one and it was immediately apparent why my daughter didn't eat it. Definitely not a very good cheese enchilada. The ranchero sauce was more the consistency of pizza sauce. My daughter did enjoy the caramel latte. The staff were nice and the restaurant was clean and well-cared for. That's why they get 3 stars instead of one, because it certainly wasn't all bad. Maybe it will be more to your liking, so I'd say try them out.

Google
Their new ranchito location is pretty nice! Lots of outdoor seating, and ample parking. Inside is a little small but will do. Have a salsa bar in the corner freshly made and kept clean. Coffee, water, utensils, napkins, togo plates all readily available as well! As for the food? Delicious! Pretty authentic, recommend the enchiladas guajillo! Chilaquiles were Very good as well. The staff was friendly and on top of things keeping tables clean, salsa bar clean, and coffee pot filled. Overall great!

Google
This is a beautiful place and the service is quality. The people who put this place together - job well done. Walking in just know this is counter service. Sometimes a benefit and then sometimes if you want to order more and have to wait in line again - sometimes not. I don't know if my tastebuds were off that day because even both the Agua Frescas we tried seemed not simply fresca but more sugary than I expected. For the price point I do personally feel maybe for my tastebuds there could be a little deeper depth of flavor. Maybe if we happen to be Menchaca-ing again we can try some other dishes.

Google
Mi Ranchito is a solid spot for Mexican comfort food in Austin. The tamales are really good—plenty of filling and great flavor. The breakfast tacos are tasty too, especially the chorizo and egg. Barbacoa tacos are definitely a highlight—super tender and flavorful.

Yelp
This place makes my favorite Mexican food in Austin!! Top tier breakfast tacos, enchiladas and tortilla soup. I pick up breakfast tacos at least one a week. Recently tried their tortilla soup and licked the bowl clean. Their chicken mole or spicy guajillo enchiladas are my favorite. The tamales are also great. I love the bean and cheese and jalapeño and cheese. They offer strawberry and sweet potato tamales as well. They have a sauce bar with many options on the spice scale and pickled jalapeños and onions. Their spicy avocado sauce is my favorite and pretty spicy. Their coffee is also very good! The vanilla latte is a little on the sweeter side but so so good. The staff is always so kind. You order at the front counter and they bring the food out to you. Their new building is very nice, clean, comfortable and welcoming. So much seating outside and a good amount inside. Lots of parking in the back. Could not recommend this place more!

Yelp
I REALLY wanted to like this place! BUT rather I was soooo disappointed. Migas taco- cheese was a sprinkle of cheese- not even melted. They broke up stale chips & placed them on top. Pick de gallo wasn't even cooked in the egg. NOTHING was cooked into the migas! Placed artificial bacon bits ON TOP of the migas! Like what??? Why not cook all the ingredients into the egg. Chorizo & bean might as well have been just a bean taco! Maybe a teaspoon of DRIED chorizo. Tamales- we're laughable. I think they forgot the jalapeños & chz (I ordered jalapeño n chz) $4 tea? Yikes! Imported tea? Or has tea gone up that much. Also was going to order a soft taco plate (meat of my choice ) but both tacos had to be the same meat. (No mix n match which is odd) AND GET THIS!!!! They want us NOT TO flush TP since they are on a septic!! LIKE WHAT?! YOU WANT DOODOO stinkin' TP lingering around?! NO THANKS! Chingos de gringos at this place... hahahaha

Yelp
I am re-reviewing because Mi Ranchito moved down the street to a beautiful building with inside and outdoor seating!! Highly recommend you visit their new location. They are no longer at the old "orange wall" location. The food is still incredible! The tamales fresh! And the salsas are delicious! I haven't found one thing I hate from this place. The staff is the same and always very nice and gets your to-go order right every time! Highly recommend.

Yelp
Really enjoyable and tasty meal from their new and beautiful location. Large portions at an affordable price. Nachos-chips were thick but help up without getting soggy. Fajita chicken was absolutely delicious Beef ranchero enchiladas-delicious meet and sauce Bunelos-a massive crispy dessert like a sopapia just not puffed up When I picked up the order the staff was very friendly Make sure to try all the self serve sauces as well

Yelp
Hubby was asked to take a trip over there by a friend to pick up some pork tamales and their salsa that you pay extra for. He got a dozen for us and they were flavorful, fresh and piping hot. Hubby loved the salsa that they make there as well. Service done well and provide good quality food. I know they very recently moved to a new location in a white house that they built and believe the new address is 1105 FM 1626, Menchaca, TX.

Yelp
My favorite breakfast tacos in Austin!!! They are always quick with to go orders. Even in person with they're busy, the food comes out pretty quickly. The people that run this place is always friendly. The migas is my favorite taco there. Ive had their caldo and menudo as well and they are good. The aguas Fresca is so refreshing and comes in only one size (XL). They moved into a new space recently, it's spacious indoors and out. Looks amazing!! So happy for the owners!
google avatar

Veronica R.

Yelp
I had the taquitos and they were delicious. The order includes 5, where most restaurants give you 3. My husband had the much raved about breakfast tacos and wasn't as impressed. The chorizo had a real sweet flavor that did not agree with him.

Yelp
Recently moved just down the street from their old location and built a beautiful new property. Food is thankfully just the same and reliably delicious. Very happy to see this business thriving. Service is always friendly and I cant wait to stop in again. My favorites are the pork in green sauce, churros, and shrimp tostadas.

Yelp
The first to notice is the location which the outdoor reminds me of chip and Joanna gains home. The inside is warm, airy, minimalist style and inviting. Seating is a bit limited but it works as servers can have more control of the tables needing attention. To order is very similar to what you would expect at a fast food restaurant. You look at the menu which is placed on woven baskets on the side of a wood shelve wall and you order with the cashier. The place is kept clean all around. The salsa area and utensils are kept tidy. Now let's dive into the food. As a Latina I am accustomed to food being seasoned a certain way and I can confidently say all the food I ordered today had sazón! Nothing was bland, which I feel many Mexican restaurants in the areas have to do to appease a certain type of population. The food here tastes authentic and the prices are reasonable. I was struggling to decide which enchilada to order , the staff was kind enough to let me sample between the green salsa and the red one. The staff is very welcoming and they don't rush you if you don't know what to order. They play lively Spanish music and people come and go which is positive sign that the community enjoys the food. I can't wait to bring my family to try it out! I'm hopeful that other plates I try will be as flavorful.

Yelp
Took a long time (20 mins) for our chips and queso to come out, we had to ask for them to actually give it to us. Then as soon as we got our appetizer, they brought the food too. Then our queso got cold and not eaten... :( All the items on the menu were way overpriced. Atmosphere was great and the new location is awesome compared to their old location like night and day but they need to work on their service and making the prices more affordable. The aguas frescas were super sweet, way too much sugar. Overall the food was decent but fix the other areas and you got a winning combination.

Yelp
I'm so excited we now have this beautiful restaurant nearby! The tamales were excellent and everyone was so friendly. We can't wait to be back.
google avatar

Marie M.

Yelp
We were visiting my don for Thanksgiving and wanted tamales. We ordered a dozen tamales. My favorite were the sweet potato ones! We will be back again soon.

Marilyn M.

Yelp
The guacamole and chips are fantastic, as are the fresh salsas! Great authentic food.
google avatar

Yelp
These tamales may be the best I've ever had. They have lots of filling and very little masa. The pork, chicken and veggie are my favorite. They made our Christmas dinner special!

Claire B.

Yelp
i can't remember the last time i loved everything i ate. this was amazing and service was quick and friendly (4:30 sat). i'm so excited to come back! the eacabeche was 10/10.

David O.

Yelp
New location is amazing. Better parking, beautiful interior, welcoming out door spaces as well. Food is 956 approved

Aidan W.

Yelp
You know what, Hell Yeah. The food was so good. Service was fast and the new location is beautiful.

Amelie N.

Yelp
Pork and chicken tamales were the best! My boyfriend enjoyed the alambre too. Highly recommend supporting this family owned restaurant!

Jessica C.

Yelp
Yum! First time here since moving to the area. This is exactly what we were looking for when it came to Mexican cuisine. I got the Tamales Plate with Pork, Chicken, and Jalapeño Cheese. They're homemade and it shows. No mass produced/frozen tamales here. My husband got the Chicken Nachos. They were made with dark meat which he loved. He said they were flavorful. They don't serve alcohol, but the food was so good I didn't care. The Watermelon Agua Fresca I got instead hit the spot! This will now be our go-to Mexican Food destination!

Jaime D.

Yelp
The Charro beans were room temperature. The tamales were just average. two of the tamales were slightly above room temperature and the one that was hot was mushy.

Dixie D.

Yelp
New better location and updated digs make a starry review. I had green enchiladas and my husband the carne asade. All good. Inside and outside seating with large paved parking lot in the back. We took tamales home for gifts for fam and friends.

Cheyanne W.

Yelp
My Dad and I have been going to this place for the past 10-15 years and it has been my favorite restaurant of all time since Day 1. The staff recognizes us every time and are so friendly to us and to everyone they encounter. The food has stayed inexpensive throughout the years, but the quality and authenticity of the food says otherwise. Mi Ranchito has never disappointed us and has always served quality, delicious food. Their tres leches was also the best I've ever had. We recommend the huevos rancheros, the pork chops, the pork in verde sauce, and the chile relleno. 10/10 Every. Single. Time.

Jacob K.

Yelp
Great addition to the neighborhood! Very nice new building, delicious food, lots of good coffees and drinks
google avatar

Misty M.

Yelp
Fast friendly service. Bacon, egg and cheese & beef tacos are amazing. 4 tacos for $15, very affordable. Food is fantastic, highly recommend.

Henry P.

Yelp
HORRIBLE FOOD AND MANAGEMENT AVOID THIS PLACE!!!! Got 2 caldo de res' for my girlfriend and I, as we were under the weather. Once I got home with the food, we realized just how greasy the caldo's were. Half of it just a greasy mess, with barely any veggies and a few weird chunks of meat. I went back to confirm we even got the right thing at first, but was answered with "this a good caldo, good caldo, what are you talking about" by one of the owners. To which after I explained what a caldo was, the "wife" got mad and asked what I wanted. I asked for a refund and vowed to never return. fyi I am Hispanic born and raised and know what a caldo is. That was a sloppy greasy mess. Disgrace to our culture.

Yelp
Absolutely love Mi Ranchito! Everything is so fresh tasting. The chilaquiles are my personal favorite dish. Gotta have breakfast as well!

Raven F.

Yelp
The food was phenomenal, some of the best tasting and most authentic Mexican food I've had here in Austin!
google avatar

Michaela P.

Yelp
Best tamales anywhere. Why do we only get them at Christmas time? Because we'd be fat if we ate them all the time, that's why! I like the chicken. Hubby prefers pork. Everyone likes the bean and cheese. The rest of the menu is great as well. All the salsas rock. Merry Christmas!

Xaviera G.

Yelp
One of my favorite Mexican restaurants when I come to the area! From the tamales, enchiladas and the drinks never miss. Excited to try different things each time I visit.

Mariana M.

Yelp
Chicken tamales 10/10 loved Pork 9/10 Sweet potato tamales 10/10 Vegetarian 6/10 (just corn and black beans) not anything amazing but they are vegan. Avocado salsa 8/10 not great but pretty good. I picked these up for Christmas and had an easy order experience and everything was great and ready to pick up easily. Don't feel heavy after eating these! They are yummy and approved by my mom from CDMX.

Taco E.

Yelp
Oh. Em. Gee. This place was amazing! So much taste and flavor! The queso was great! And I'm a queso snob so you gotta believe me. I got the chicken flautas! So good!!! And then the refried beans on the side....SOOOO GOOOOOOD. DEFINITELY WOULD RECOMMEND. 10/10
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Best potato, egg, and cheese breakfast tacos in Austin! Love this place, such a little gem!

Don R.

Yelp
The Migas are the best. I love them with the spicy avocado sauce. Food here is always good.Breakfast Tacos are very good.

Sol-Marie N.

Yelp
The best tortilla soup I've ever had. So yummy and filling. Everyone who works there is so sweet and helpful. Y'all the best!!!!!
google avatar

Becky C.

Yelp
Not only are the tamales delicious, I tried the chili rellenos today and it was one of the best I've ever had. I judge a place on their rellenos and this one is a top notch must try.

Celina K.

Yelp
Can't wait till they move to the new location! Their food and customer service is always great! Try the foodMexican hamburger it's HUGE and delicious.
google avatar

Jay G.

Yelp
Best tamales in the Austin area, hands down. I remember when this place was a gas station! They closed the seating area during the pandemic, but it is open now. Horchata, Mexican Cokes, and homemade desserts. Nice family business

Cory M.

Yelp
Great little gem in manchaca. Friendly staff and locally owned. They make homemade tamales and have really good chicken flautas. They only have an inside but are building new place down the road with nice outdoor area. I recommend the flautas as they always come crispy and delicious
google avatar

Josephine C.

Yelp
OH MY GAAAAAHHH Mi Ranchito is famazing! At the time of this review there's construction going on in the area so just be mindful of the traffic and the parking lot. But in spite of that it's easy enough to get into. I wish I could eat everything on the menu-- it all looks so mouthwateringly scrumptious. But my favorite are their tamales. I know it's gonna sound super basic but I do love their chicken tamales. They have so many other ones-- pork, jalapeño and cheese, bean and cheese, sweet potato, even strawberry! All homemade. Hey don't knock it til you try it! It's really amazing. Their salsas, bursting with flavor, are also homemade. They serve breakfast tacos all day, yummmmmm! Oh! And! Their avocados are the creamiest I've ever had in my life. EVER. I saw one of their shipments and they get their avocados straight from Michoacán, Mexico. Ugh so good and flavorful and creamy. If you can get avocados on the side for any of your orders, do it! Add it to your tacos, flautas, or burgers. Or even just eat it by itself. You won't regret it. Lety's Plate is simply divine. Their desserts-- we tried the flan and churros-- with coffee are the perfect ending. Okay I'm done. Obviously I can go on and on but you can just go there and treat yourself to the best Mexican food.

Judith R.

Yelp
They are a local restaurant who serve great authentic Mexican food! We have patronized their restaurant for many years.
google avatar

Abigail J.

Yelp
Mi Ranchito is one of my favorite places in Austin. The staff is a super sweet family who is always kind and helpful. The food is delicious! I'd recommend the polzole soup, the quesadillas, the alambre plate, and of course the flan and tres leches. It's a small mom and pop building with a very casual and relaxed feel that always makes me feel at home.

Alex O.

Yelp
self service, food is boring nothing special, prices are expensive overall the worst Mexican restaurant I have ever been.
google avatar

Kathrine C.

Yelp
We love mi ranchito!!! The staff is always amazing, kind and great service. The food is always excellent. Our favorite is the breakfast tacos, the way they prepare the bacon is unique and SO TASTY!
google avatar

Craig C.

Yelp
We were here for a late lunch after driving past the restaurant for years and saw the great reviews and stopped. The restaurant is pretty old nothing fancy but really good food at reasonable prices. I had the Lety with pork tamale, chicken enchilada with green sauce rice and beans and it was great. Plenty of flavor and ample size. The restaurant is kinda hard to get in and out of but worth the stop. I recommend eating here for good ole Tex mex
google avatar

Elih N.

Yelp
Amazing handmade tamales! You can tell they're homemade - the maza is so flavorful. Top two are the chicken tamales and jalapeño/cheese tamales. They're also a really great size!! Also picked up a horchata and Jamaica tea drink. So good!

G.W. P.

Yelp
Best tortilla soup I've had. Service is always very kind and prompt - one of my favorite lunch time spots!

Parker W.

Yelp
Great authentic Mexican cuisine, good portion size. Wonderful service, highly recommend!

Sylvia D.

Yelp
Genuinely the best authentic Mexican food! We love everything we've tried so far :) we recommend it to everyone we talk to. And service is just the best, sweet sweet people!

Jason Y.

Yelp
The food is good. I just had an issue with an order to go. Once we got back to the house to eat, there were parts of a brillo pad in the food. Only happened on one item, but the issue remains that quality control might be an issue.
