"Mi Rancho features a different sopa (soup) special for every day of the week. If you’re lucky enough to stop by on a Thursday, you’ll have the pleasure of slurping down ajiaco, a rich chicken and potato soup traditionally found in bars all over Bogotá. Mi Rancho uses an herb found in Colombia called guascas, which gives the dish its signature flavor. Mondongo is served on Saturdays. Beef tripe is cooked for hours with fresh root vegetables, peppers, and spices. All of Mi Rancho’s soups come with arepas con queso, which are made fresh in house. Mi Rancho is open for indoor dining, takeout, and delivery via Ubereats." - Tommy Ranucci

Nice little restaurant gets very busy during the lunch time that very good salads meals and appetizers little finger foods like empanadas a corn dog other stuff. Their salads are made fresh very good grilled chicken is their sandwiches are cooked made to the order they're all very fresh french fries are very crispy tastes very well. You have a very full glass case of assorted snacks and pastries and cooked meats somebody empanadas could come out very dry that's why you're going to get the little pink sauce with it or the hot sauce.

Don’t be fooled, there’s definitely better Colombian food places nearby. You’re not missing much. The reason I’m giving this place 1 star is because I’ve been coming here for years. Over 15 years, both service and food has been steady and I continued to give them my business. Recently, while in the neighborhood, I decided to pop in. I was so disappointed with the service. The staff did not greet me. The man who took my order was so rude and condescending. I had him repeat himself because he was mumbling my order back to me. And then he went to the back after taking my order and I caught him and a female colleague giggling in the back. I couldn’t help but think it was at my expense. Speaking of “expense”- the food was shockingly overpriced. A soup with salad cost me $18, it used to be $13 max with a drink. I understand inflation is a culprit, but I am not a clueless yuppie. It’s practically highway robbery. So I paid, left with my order and decided that it’s probably best to never come back- unless I’m desperate. Which will probably never happen seeing as there are soooo many better cheaper more quality options right nearby.

Delicious food. Super friendly service. Not a lot of seats and a little busy at lunch time but great to grab a quick bite before getting on a flight. Will definitely come back here again!

Google
Service at MI RANCHO sucks, they always so rude and also they get mad if you ask them what's fresh. Besides that the main cashier, she always had a rude and disrespectful attitude. Not professional at all, and there’s no hospitality at all. I'll recommend you to go to EL JARDIN just some blocks away, definitely better service and better food. 😉💋 I WILL GIVE YOU 0 STARS BUT THE APP DOESNT LET ME, SO FEEL PROUD IM GIVING YOU 1 STAR 🤮

Google
Really great food. But has been a couple of times when i call for pick up food and by the time I pick up the person who took my order, actually did not put my order. So it is really upsetting and frustrating because if we are at work lunch time is wasted and if i have to do diligencies everything becomes a mess and do double the work. I get there is a busy time but that happens when people do not pay attention to things just because they want to finish their shift and affects the customer service.

Google
This place charges their drink specially their coffee differently everyday, they charge depending on the look today I was charge for a small coffee 3 dollars with a super small coffee that with two sips is done, I called and and ask later on and they told me it cost 2.50. They also ask if you would like to tip. they should ask that question only if they are serving you a drink to go. A tip should be voluntarily

Best soups and service in East Boston. Thanks to the cooks and servers who makes it all possible. Lentils+ beef and beef stew (sancocho de res) are my faves.

Google
Food is very decent and service was great when I went, the only thing I didn’t like was the delivery fees they included in our bills which we actually dined in. I think for the reviews saying pricy or got charged differently are the people who got charged the delivery fees which is about 4-5%. They don’t have a good tipping system besides you telling them to put a number while you pay or tip cash. Maybe employees just put delivery fees as their gratuity compensation.

Yelp
Trying to expand my East Boston/Colombian eats besides El Peñol, and it led me to here! My sister has brought me various snacks from here which I loved (like their Buñuelos (must try!!), Beef Patty, and Churros). They have a wide range of stuff like this ready for you to pick up on the counter. I was overwhelmed when I got there, but stuck to my usuals- I'll branch out next time (if there will be one, continue reading to know why that is) I was craving a full meal so I got their TYPICAL PLATE which is what they (the restaurant) call the classic Colombian rice dish! It's cheaper than most places considering it's like a "fast" restaurant. The steak was drier than what I usually get down the street, but I LOVED the sweet plantain. Overall it was delicious and I still enjoyed it very much, I love the variety in Colombian snacks and food here, but what I didn't enjoy was being overcharged around $8-$10....I'm not sure if it was a mistake or intentional but I didn't get a chance to think about how much I paid for because I didn't want to hold up a line and was already holding a huge bag to go. I only noticed when I got home since they put a menu in my bag. They also didn't give me any pink sauce even though they asked me if I wanted any, which I answered "yes" to twice. So I made myself some at home LOL. I'm willing to let this go and double check next time, but I hope people don't encounter this next time. $8-$10 was like 1/3 of what I paid for, and I also gave some cash tip....so it just felt like getting ripped off :(

Yelp
Mi Rancho Restaurant ( 45 Meridian St E. Boston) The service at this establishment is extremely poor. During my visit to pick up food and pay with a credit card, I was surprised to encounter a 4% service fee for credit card transactions. What's more, when I settled the bill, the cashier inquired about leaving a tip. I politely explained that tips are typically associated with dining in, and the service provided during the meal. Despite my response, the cashier asked me twice in front of other customers if I wanted to leave a tip, making me feel pressured and uncomfortable. The following day, I returned to collect food and opted to pay with cash. Upon requesting a receipt, I noticed that a 4% service fee had been added once again. Perplexed, I asked the cashier why I was being charged a service fee when paying with cash. She hesitated for a moment and then replied that it's typically applied to card payments. I pointed out that I had paid with cash and asked if the fee could be refunded. I strongly advise against visiting this Restaurna. It appears that either the owner needs to pay closer attention to their operations or perhaps they are not compensating their employees adequately, as it's uncomfortable for them to solicit tips from customers in this manner.

Yelp
The food here for breakfast was just okay - but it could've been because we weren't sure what to order. We got the 53 and 54 and both were decent, but nothing to write home about. The steak was seasoned well but pretty tough to chew. Main reason why it's 3 stars instead of 4 though is because we were given sticky cutlery - the knives they gave us had this clear goo on it, like glue or melted sticker residue. So we had to use their plastic cutlery instead. We came here because it was one of the few places that was open at 7am after our red-eye flight in, so the early hours was nice! They also have a couple of tables inside, so we sat there to eat. All in all, if you need a quick early bite, they've got what you need, but don't expect too much in quality. I'm tempted to try the chicharron next time though, because it looked quite tasty in the hot bar, just wasn't sure if pork belly is 7am food...

Yelp

Yelp
Service staff are also cooks and they do their best to help everyone and are very welcoming. This place has my favorite Colombian empanadas. It's a really small place with almost no personal space or bathroom but I actually find it a dope hole in the wall spot for a quick bite no matter what time it is.

Nicolas A.

Yelp

Yelp
A solid go to place to get some empanadas/pastelles in East Boston. Some pastelerias have different shapes for their fillings, Mi Rancho uses a darker shell for the either the chicken or the beef, just ask for one of both fillings and you will not regret your choice. I usually grad a churro to satisfy my sweet tooth. If you are feeling adventurous, grab a Colombian soda as well, in the blue and yellow can.

Yelp
Only had an opportunity to try one thing on the menu but I would love to come back and try what else this place has to offer. Everything looks delicious and the prices aren't expensive at all. Just from creepily looking at what everyone else had gotten for their orders, it appears the portions are pretty large. I had a taste of the toston con desmechado (fried plantains with beef. For $7 and change it comes with four tostones with shredded beef. [I've also uploaded a picture to give you an idea of what it looks like and the portion size]. Even for a snack between me and my girlfriend, the plate of four was very enjoyable and worth the $7. The beef had it's own distinct flavor and it wasn't too salt nor was it dry. The owner [or manager] passed by our table and kindly offered us sauces to go with it. He offered a pink-ish sauce which most closely resembles a Latin American variation of a Russian dressing; that's probably the closest comparison. He also provided us with a spicy sauce that brought out the flavor of the beef even more. The employees here and the owner/manager that came by were all very friendly and helped us along. I would definitely come back and encourage others to come try out the food.

Yelp
Overwrought by the options on the menu above the counter, I didn't know what to get when the lady motioned that it was my turn. She kindly handed me a pictorial menu and I snuck off to the side to give it a once over. We ended up sharing an order of the Toston con Pollo Desmechado $6.50 (fried plantain with shredded chicken) and the Arepa con Camarones $6.75 (corn cake with shrimp), as well as a mango juice $2. You order at the counter, but they bring your food over to you along with a basket of silverware. Yes, semi-table service. Hmmm... but now that I think of it, I wonder if we were supposed to tip? There wasn't any place to stack your plates when you bus your own table, and the table was unbussed when we sat down... Yup, I'm confused. But the food was satisfying and interesting to this untrained tummy of Colombian cuisine. Of the two, I preferred the Arepa con Camarones, although I suspect a bit of false advertisement as the photo of the dish showed shrimp twice (if not thrice) the size of the creatures speckling our arepa. But it was hot and tasty and loaded with cheesy goodness. The Toston con Pollo arrived room temperature, and the toston themselves were a bit hard to cut in spots, but the flavors were good. Mi Rancho is rather small - the counter area takes up perhaps a third of the footprint of the restaurant. Eight tables seating parties of 2 or 4 take up the bulk of the remainder of the floor space, and there are two counter seats stuffed into the corner behind the door. They take Visa and Mastercard, but have no public restroom.

Yelp
Showed up at 615am on Sunday, 5/26/19. Doors were locked & nobody was visible inside. Says on store front & Yelp, opens at 6am. Instead, went to La Abundancia next door, which was open. When I was leaving La Abundancia around 730-8am. I did notice they were open then.

Yelp
The service and food quality has fallen It used to be a decent spot, But fell through the cracks.

Yelp
Best Colombian breakfast around!!! Five stars because: - Coffee is fresh and delicious; I swear they must put drops of dark chocolate in there! I love how they make it for you, unlike other restaurants where they give you the sugar and cream separate from the coffee. Quite honestly I suck at mixing my own coffee, so Mi Rancho thank you for doing it for me! - Arepas are hot and delicious. They don't overdue the cheese or the butter. I like how the cheese is inside the corn cake, unlike other places where the cheese is given to spread on the arepa. - Empanadas are bomb! Hot, delicious, crunchy on the outside, packed with wonderful spices. I strongly recommend you eat this with the "pink sauce" because it is damn good. Aaaand, they're open real early for all you early birds. But breakfast is just as good at 7am or at 11am.

Kelly M.

Yelp
Amazing food! Great atmosphere, authentic colombian food and lots of options to pick from! Highly recommend

Yelp
As a diner I usually go by the old saying, "If the cops eat there, it must be good." This place's location right next to the Boston Police Department's District A-7 headquarters lends to its popularity but they keep coming back. This spot has become a Sunday tradition for me & my crew. It is a perfect mix of good food, great staff & getting a lot of little money. I truly enjoy seeing fresh food being displayed & that's what greets you when you step into this humble storefront. All various Central & South American delights greet you from crunchy chicharron to sweet delights to many to list. There is something for everyone here. Not feeling like a Latin breakfast? No worries, they make bacon, eggs & pancakes too. The gotos here are the fried trout, chicken & rice & the typical Columbian plate. But honestly you cannot go wrong with anything on their menu. Have not had a bad meal there yet. Cannot wait for next Sunday to come already!!!

Yelp
This place is truly amazing! The food is out-of-this-world period, but it is the best Colombian food I've tasted. I used to live in Miami, and this food tasted like home...even better than home! The flavor, the technique, the variety, the love that goes into this food is just completely unforgettable. It's like eating at someone's grandmother's house, but better. The prices and portions cannot be beat either. I had the arepa con carne mechada or shedded beef in creole tomato-based sauce with cilantro. The flavor was just ridiculous--tangy, garlicky, zesty, pure perfection over a crispy yet tender yellow arepa. An arepa is griddled corn cake made from pre-cooked corn, so it has zero grittiness, just crispy exterior and tender interior. Arepas of this size are for breakfast. I got my husband the paisa version with rice, eggs, and yummy pork belly cracklings. Well, as we marvelled over our food, we got distracted by a ridiculous seafood rice at the counter. It was freaking exploding with tender, juicy-looking seafood. We caved and got what was supposedly a side portion, but it was meal-sized in my book. Picture it, mussels, lobster, real crab leg meat, clams, shrimp, scallops, calamari, octopus, all cooked to tender perfection in an expertly-seasoned, fluffy rice. This stuff was last meal status, and it was our last meal in Boston, and certainly one of the BEST! Stop by on your way to the airport, if you're a visitor. If you live in Boston, go tonight! Seriously, today you MUST try this! Super short walk from the Maverick train stop, by the way. Clean, nice service, amazing flavors, great variety of prepared hot foods (stuffed chicken looked ridiculous), great prices, the stuff of dreams is at this neighborhood gem. The salpicon, or Colombian fruit salad, looked great too. It shall be crowned with a scoop of ice cream upon serving. Be sure to clear your table and put your plates on the far end of the counter if you eat in. Order first and pay as you leave. They'll bring the dish to you.

Michelle D.

Yelp
My husband is Colombian and I've been to Colombia enough times to know this is really bad food! Arepas were made with a tortilla press, chicherron was flavorless and thin, empanadas de carne had no meat and were just seasoned potatoes, and the list goes on. Take a look at the photos from others- they cut the chicherron on the Wrong Side, it's supposed to be on the meat side!! Maybe in the glory days of 2013, the Boston Globe came on a good day, but today things have changed and I literally thought even Burger King would be better than this! And I don't eat fake food. So really, Colombians of Boston, please step up your expectations.

Julian P.

Yelp
Fast and friendly service, great food and great prices as well, in front of the police station in eastie, it's a must if are near maverick station, they have a wide variety of items in the menu and fresh food always.

Matthew T.

Yelp
I live right up the road. I don't think I've seen harder workers than the ladies running this joint- they are there before I walk to the T (I get the breakfast burrito and a coffee) at 645 am, and they are there when I grab dinner at 8 pm (typically arroz con pollo or tostones de pollo). Always smiling, always kind, and always super DELICIOUS. Not sure what I'd do without them for neighbors! Try it all- their pre made empanadas, churros, and other quick treats in the counter display have also all be great.

Michelle J.

Yelp
I found myself at this place during my empanada hunt in the greater Boston area and decided to try some of their other dishes. The menu is really affordable which encouraged me to try their shrimp arepas. It was very tasty and flavorful. If it didn't make me so full I would have had another one. I didn't make it for breakfast but on a Saturday afternoon it wasn't full. The empanadas though cheap were a bit too doughy for my taste and I don't really care for corn shell empanadas but they were good as well. Even though the lasting impression was made by their arepas. Most of the people coming in got takeout and there were maybe 2-3 people dining in. It's a very casual restaurant which was nice because I went into 2 other Latin places around here and they were a bit more dark and subdued lighting. And had waiter service which I really just didn't want a formal meal, aka didn't want to have to tip. But the staff at Mi Rancho was friendly gave me a good meal and left me satisfied. Great place for anytime and it didn't burn a hole in my wallet.

david s.

Yelp
We ate here for breakfast. Very friendly people at the counter. Accommodating: they made us fried eggs, side of veggies and arepas ie we mixed and matched from different standard options. Lots of food (easily lasted us until dinner), tasty. Informal but "has it together" place. Anyone welcome. Neighborhood spot. We feel lucky to have found it.

May N.

Yelp
A doc at East Boston Neighborhood Health Center recommended this establishment for some fast, cheap, authentic food. I'm not in East Boston very often, but I think I should come out here more to taste the ethnic food. Small place, maybe 10 tables, cheery Latin music playing, with easy to read menus in Spanish and English and with photos of the food. They serve breakfast, lunch, appetizers, kids' meals, and various fruit juices and (virgin) pina coladas. I tried the grilled steak with tomatoes and onions served with rice, salad, and a fried plantain. Quick, tasty, less than $12, but the steak was a bit tough. The empanadas were pretty good, too. They take credit cards and I think they do take-out, too. Solid fast Colombian food!

Maurice M.

Yelp
Since no one has reviewed this place..... This place had good Colombian fast food and many entrees to choose from. This is a good place if you want to get something quick and tasty in and out. If you want a sit down Colombian meal that will blow your sox off ....... there are better options in the area. Good : Empanadas , Batidos,Plato Tipico, Papa Rellena

Steve V.

Yelp
This little place has truly made a name for itself. I'm from East Boston, and have been going for as long as I can remember. Located just minutes from the Maverick Blue Line Train station, it's a brisk walk for some real Colombian food. I have to say that by far, my favorite item there, are the empanadas. You can get them with either carne, or pollo. Either way, you can't go wrong. The staff is great and they move quickly with your order. Don't forget to try the passion fruit milkshake, I promise it'll rock your world!

Jessenia U.

Yelp
I've been going to this place for a few years for good Colombian food and the quality has never wavered. The empanadas are made with good beef, potatoes and love, and the chorizo is always juicy and filling. You can get really good hot chocolate that doesn't taste burnt like other places. I love this place and wouldn't get my breakfast from anywhere else. I have never tried their entrees, but picking the fast food from the front is enough for me. Also, the bunelos are always warm and delicious, never stale or cold!

Julio L.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to visit! Love the Latin atmosphere! The menu offers many choices to try! The service is great! Try the hot chocolate! And make sure you bring you appetite and a smile!

Herb Z.

Yelp
Great place for takeout, and to go and have breakfast. Coffe is awesome! Staff is very nice!

Cheri R.

Yelp
My favorite empanadas in the greater Boston area! They're flavorful and I'm addicted to Mi Rancho's sauce that you can dip them in. My boyfriend introduced me to bunuelos, a Colombian pastry/baked good. If you've never tried one, Mi Rancho makes them very well! They're very moist. Service is quick and the prices are very reasonable.

Ria S.

Yelp
Good Colombian food! Empanadas! The best! Probably one of the best Colombian restaurants in Eastie.

Ashley J.

Yelp
This is my favorite Colombian takeout. My fiance prefers El Jardin but I hate them and always try to steer him here. The empanadas and papas rellanas are the best I have ever had and HUGE. They don't speak a lot of English here but they are nice and they do their best. They always assume I don't speak Spanish so I usually just let him order for me haha. They do have a good sized menu on the wall with pictures but I would never sit down and eat there. I consider this a takeout only kind of joint.
