"Ambitious, D.C.-based Knead Hospitality + Design brought New York chef Roberto Santibañez to town to serve as culinary director for this huge, artfully appointed waterfront restaurant on the Wharf. By adding blue cheese, grapes, and smoked almonds to a guacamole perked up with pasilla chiles, customers can try one of the more interesting variations of the avocado dish. There are plenty of ways to enjoy seafood by the Potomac, notably an entree of butterflied, roasted branzino painted in red and green adobo. A second location sits on 14th Street NW, where a mushroom-centric tasting room called Sagrada Mia opened upstairs this year. A third Mi Vida sits in Chinatown." - Tierney Plumb
"For a pop of color, you’ll want to visit the restrooms in Mexican mainstay Mi Vida’s original locale at the Wharf. Hot-pink doors direct patrons into a light and bright space punctuated with bright blue fixtures. A modern white trough-style sink is juxtaposed with a wavy, laser-cut wooden hallway for a trippy surprise at every turn." - Abi Newhouse
"Mi Vida’s Mexican take on the classic is the ensalada César con pollo ($17.50). The salad is made with bib lettuce, grilled chicken, and croutons for a traditional Caesar texture, but mixed with a roasted jalapeño-Caesar dressing for a spicy kick." - Vinciane Ngomsi
"The Mi Vida that started it all on the Wharf recently debuted monthly DJ brunches dubbed “Viva Mi Vida.” The party goes down on the last Sunday of the month from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Guests can enjoy seasonal margarita pitches and Mexican brunch bites while dancing to top beats." - Tierney Plumb
"The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) just announced 15 fresh concessions opening at Reagan National Airport and Dulles International Airport this year. Most are retail names, but there’s one big restaurant to note. DCA will welcome an outpost of Mi Vida, Knead Hospitality + Design’s stylish Mexican eatery with D.C. locations at the Wharf, Logan Circle, and Chinatown." - Tierney Plumb
