10 of San Gabriel Valley’s Finest Noodle Bowls, Mapped | Eater LA

"Tony Xu’s Mian does many things right — the heinously addictive spicy wontons, or chaoshou, for one — but perhaps no single dish at the restaurant has been feted quite like the Chengdu zajiang noodles. Mian’s rendition is predictably spicy, packed with málà heat and crowned with a fried egg. Though just a tick more expensive than its competitors, the handmade noodles stand up well to the sauce and are worth every penny." - Euno Lee

Ordered the spicy braised beef noodle and a steamed egg as an appetizer. Steamed egg is a steamed egg in a metal cup, it has some ground pork and some of the minced spiced pork. Has most of the flavors you would get with the spiced noodle dish but with eggs. The real dish or star was the spicy braised beef noodle. The broth was rich but not too “thick” or rich with flavor. It’s enough to get the main components and not be overpowering to take away from the noodles, etc. noodles taste fresh and cooked well. Al dente and has a good chew behind it. Service wise, you order at your table via QR code. I’ve gone on my lunch break. You often have to wave someone down if you want the check, don’t expect someone to provide table side service or drop a check if they noticed you’re finished.

Our friends wanted to try this noodle place. It was mostly packed at 6pm but we got a table for 4. You use your phone to order and the menu has helpful pictures and descriptions. We ordered a beef noodle with extra noodle, broiled beef, Chinese donut and wonton noodle soup. Our friends ordered ground beef noodle, shrimp fried rice and pickled cucumber. The food arrived quickly, nice and hot broth. We shared all the little extras and made for a fun variety. Tasty fresh noodle, casual atmosphere. Service was efficient and nice.

This place is crazy busy on the weekend and parking can be tough in the strip mall. We can about 2pm on a Saturday and there was a good 20 minute wait. Once inside, you scan a QR code to order. If you need recommendations or help ordering, the staff is there to assist. I found ordering from my phone was quicker than waiting for someone to take my order. From there the staff had more time to provide service. They brought our food and checked up on us and cleared plates regularly. You definitely want to get the sides to share and a big bowl of noodles.

I truly did not know Chinese food could be this good. Every side in the cold combo had its own marinated flavor, and all of them were better than their din tai fung counterparts by 10x. The zajiang noodles blew my mind. Beef rolls were lowkey the best I’ve ever had, better than the ones I’ve had in Taiwan… chili wontons were too sweet but I added vinegar and they were perfect. I would probably skip the noodle soup next time.

Google
This review is almost a Tale of Two Cities for me.... On the plus side, Bay Area needs a place like Mian Sichuan Noodles (MSN)y that provides delicious foods (especially Beef Noodle Soup & side dishes) at reasonable price points with homey feels that we used to feel while back home growing up in Asia, noatter what regions - TW, CN, HK or Singapore. Nowadays, other nearby Beef Noodle Soup places charging a small bowl of our comfort food with merely 3-4 beef pieces visible costing at least $20 a bowl or more (vs. MSN offers more beef and better taste at ~$14 a bowl ‼️) Furthermore, these other places aren't all that good, I find my Instant Beef Noodle from Taiwan tastes better, some even have beef briskets in the seasoning pouches. Only MSN offers and strikes a good balance of taste, affordability (so I can do 3-4 times a week👅), and good atmosphere where lots of people salivating for that hometown comfort tastes. However, not even a year in, the place already been shut down; it's really sad! I hope they will regroup and open at this same location that sits conveniently right across from Kaiser Santa Clara medical complex.

Google
I ordered short ribs noodle soup . Although I know that Sichuan food is usually spicy, it was still beyond my tolerance. The noodles were cooked to a good texture, but the pork ribs were not soft enough and the soup was too spicy for me. Will come back to try other non-spicy items !

This place uses the Toast-app for managing orders so you can do a table group order or split your ordering. I started from the QR code scan but after a notification on my phone I had difficulty retrieving the order page. One of the staff quickly came to the rescue with his ipad to capture our order. The small appetizers are good size and price. (4-stars) The mains are pretty tasty & reasonable (3.5 stars). This hit my spicy Asian food/noodle craving. Food arrives very quickly in case you need to get back to work. Water is self-service (nice carafe on the table) in a paper cup. The environment is clean but crowded (there was a line near noon) and a get-in/get-out diner vibe. I think it might be difficult to socialize here.

Google
A very lively and busy place. We arrived at 5:50pm but it was already packed with people. Luckily, we got the last table. The restaurant was decorated with nice paintings on the walls that added to the vibe. Reminds me a lot when I was back in Asia. As a party of 5, we got to order many different dishes: steamed eggs, Dandan Mian, Spicy Beef Broth noodles, Vege & Tomato noodle soup, Beef fried rice, Spicy Wonton and Beef Roll pancakes. The food was good 😊 except for the dried noodles Dandan Mian which is not to my liking (but one of our friends really loves it), the rest was delicious and full of flavors. For drinks, we only ordered cold soy milk but it was also tasty. Not too sweet.

Yelp
Ambience is nice and felt clean. Food was good even though there were spicy dishes. Recommend this for spicy foodies. Line also forms, go early if possible.

Yelp
I've been meaning to try this place so I was so excited to see they opened a branch in the bay. Noodles were flavorful but extremely tiring to eat (heavy on carbs and one-note flavor). Beef roll was surprisingly light, very crispy and packed with cilantro. Really good. Yummy chili oil dumplings! Best thing we ate. Busy on the weekend but we were seated relatively quickly. The interior is nice. We asked for serving chopsticks and they were quick to give it to us. I had no idea they closed but would definitely come visit again when they reopen!

Yelp
Came here on a Tuesday for lunch and it was decently empty. The employees were quick to take your order, but the space is rather large so they don't come by around often. Nevertheless, our food came out very fast. I got the Chengdu Zajiang and it was good! A solid about of Sichuan numbing spice without overwhelming the dish. They have great chewy noodle texture that holds their strength under all those toppings, and there's a generous amount of them as well! The fried egg on top reminded me of noodle dishes I had growing up, giving the whole meal a homey feel. Definitely will come back once they open again!

Yelp
Mian took over Orenchi's spot. We've dined here twice now and both times we arrived around the time they opened at 11am on a Saturday, we got seated right away. Seems like they open a bit before their opening hours. The restaurant is nice and bright, spacious. On our first visit, we got seated right next to window where they were preparing the wontons. They also offer 4 outdoor tables with heat lamps. We ordered by the QR code on the table via Toasttab. So far we've tried.. CHILI OIL WONTONS (6) $6 -handmade wonton made with house-special filling sauce. We got this "extra spicy." Meat was tender and the dumpling skin had a nice bite. The extra spicy chili made it taste almost like we were eating burnt chili. I guess there was too much of it for my taste? Probably go for "medium spicy" next time. 3.75/5* GOLDEN SOUP WONTON (6) $6 -golden broth wontons. It's served in a rich, golden broth infused with pumpkin puree and topped with green onions. We substituted the pork wontons for spinach chicken wontons for +$1. Broth is hot and comforting. The dumpling skin had more of a bite because it's made with spinach. Filling was a bit salty. 3.5/5* DUMPLING IN SPECIAL SPICY & SWEET SAUCE (6) $7 -we got this "medium spicy." I really enjoyed the sweetness of the sauce..just needed to add a little vinegar to cut through it. The meat had a sausage flavor to it and the dumpling skin had a chewy bite. 5/5* SWEET CORN & PORK POTSTICKERS (5) $8 -crispy golden potstickers filled with a mixture of chicken and sweet corn. VERY crispy! I really enjoyed the thickness of the dumpling skin and the large corn kernels. 5/5* CHENGDU ZAJIANG NOODLE W/ 1 FRIED EGG $12.99 -aka dan dan mian. Fresh noodles tossed with a mild spicy sauce, with ground pork, chili oil, and sichuan peppercorns. It's a dry style noodle, we got this "medium spicy." Once you add more chili oil and vinegar, it takes it to another level! Somehow there's a creaminess to the noodles too. TASTY and not heavy. Noodles were nice and al dente. When we were trying to share the noodles, it was longg and never ending. We couldn't split it so a waitress came with scissors and cut it instantly for us. lol 4.5/5* I like that there's vinegar and chili oil available on the table. I love them sawwwsessss. By the time we leave around noon, there's always a waitlist. Service has been friendly and attentive. I would come back again if I was craving this type of flavor!

Yelp
Heard this place was coming to the bay from LA. Saw a bunch of people waiting in line and was expected to wait 30-40 mins told by the waitress but surprisingly only waited 20 mins. They had heat lamps outside to make sure that you were just waiting outside in the cold. The service was nice and fast which I appreciated as they were really busy. Since I saw the hype, I was expecting the food to be pretty good but I feel like it wasn't really anything special. I did like the spicy wontons tho! Overall, I would come back if i'm in the area!

Yelp
The first time I attempted to eat here, the wait was about 1.5 hours so I left. Finally got to trying this noodles restaurant on a weekday for dinner when there was no wait! Overall, delicious food and friendly service! Beef Roll Pancake - For $9.50, it was on the smaller side but we really enjoyed it! It's crispy, and flaky on the outside. The meat inside was tender and flavorful with just the right amount of sauce rounded out with cucumbers inside the pancake. This was one of the better beef roll pancakes I've had in the Bay and would consider getting it again! For their noodles: my spice tolerance is on the lower end, and I'd say that the "mild" spice level was spicy enough for me. Mapo Tofu Noodles with Meat - This wasn't a combination I would've thought of since Mapo Tofu with rice is definitely more of a thing. Anyways, I think this type of flavor profile and texture goes better with rice. However, they serve a solid mapo tofu and good noodles, so you won't go wrong if you like both. Chengdu Zajiang Mian - I liked the balance of this noodle dish and may actually opt for no spice next time. Meat, fried egg, vegetables, good noodles, and the perfect amount of jiang (sauce) that coated all the noodles in the bowl! To be honest, I thought the flavors between the Mapo Tofu and Zajiang noodles seemed similar -- with the same type of spice and numbing feeling. The portion sizes were reasonable for the pricing. For about slightly under $25 pp with 2 entrees and an appetizer, we left pretty satisfied. Service was nice, they didn't rush us while we explored their offerings. We also stayed after finishing our food to chat and no one rushed us to go. They came over to us immediately when I started looking around and was ready to pay, so they were definitely observant. It gets quite loud inside with all the customers.

Yelp
We were only in town for a day so for dinner we Yelped nearby highly rated places and Mian Sichuan Noodles and Dumplings came up with great review. This place was super busy with an open floor but the staff turned the tables so quickly after someone left that I thought it was a race at first then realized they are super good at what they do. We were told it would be about a 30 minute wait at first due to the constant crowds but were seated within 5 minutes. Pretty impressive. The food here is great with plenty of options. We ordered from the QR code at our table and the online menu had good pictures and descriptions. The prices are fairly reasonable also. We had Chicken Fried Rice, The infamous Zajiang Noodles, Cucumber salad, and Shrimp & Pork Pot Stickers. Each dish arrived quickly and were consumed by us almost as fast (ha ha). I would recommend Mian for their noodles and potstickers/dumplings.

Yelp
Got here at 5:45pm and it was fairly empty The parking wasnt the easiest despite having a big lot right outside. Walk in and the walls have a cute chinese wallpaper like you're walking the animated streets of china. All the food was delicious. I was a bit worried about spice levels here but a medium was not spicy enough, so next time Ill try spicy!. I love and approve that all the side dishes were relatively affordable. The noodles tasted like freshly made noodles. The broth had good depth. The pickled cucumbers were tangy with the tiniest hint of spice. Food came out super fast after ordering through the app. Water jug per table was refilled quickly. Overall the food here was good, service was fairly quick. I'll be back to try more of their menu! Love the affordability of this spot as well.

Yelp
Came around 7:15PM on a Saturday and it was packed!! Luckily, we had our names on the Yelp Waitlist before we got there so the wait wasn't long. Everything was delicious and affordable here!! My favorite item was the Beef Roll Pancakes which were sweet and savory at the same time. My boyfriend's favorite was the Chili Oil Wontons which I also thought was good! As for noodles, I enjoyed the Spicy Braised Beef Noodles more than the Mapo Tofu Noodles. The mapo noodles didn't taste like mapo and the spice was overwhelming for us. Also, I would pass on the Sichuan Style Spicy Fries next time, it didn't taste like anything for us. Overall, service was good and the food came out quite fast! I'd come back solely for the Beef Roll Pancakes and to try other noodles on their menu :)

Yelp
Pretty good Chinese place, packing lots of spice! Menu & ordering is done via a QR code and it's pretty straightforward. Paying has to be done in person though! Zajiang noodles were pretty good, packing lots of numbing spice. Noodles were really soft and easy to chew. Beef noodle soup was very flavorful and not very spicy. I do wish there was more meat in this dish but similarly, the noodles were cooked very nicely and super tender as well! Cold beef slices were super spicy and the coldness made it very refreshing! My favorite! Beef rolls were pretty decent but different from what I expected! Not a lot of beef and toppings were very similar to what's eaten with Beijing duck! The sweet, savory sauce alongside cucumbers and cilantro. The crispiness of the roll is a little different. Place seemed very clean and modern.
google avatar

Jia M.

Yelp
Everything was delicious and affordable! The wontons were $6 for 6 pieces, which is such a steal in the bay! If you are feeling soupy, get the spicy braised beef noodles! The beef is tender and it's not too spicy. Excited to come back to try more items on the menu! Beware that parking may be a little hard to find around dinner time as there is an after school program in the same plaza.

Yelp
I've had this place bookmarked for a while now and was in the area so decided to come here. Was so disappointed by this place ...definitely did NOT meet my expectations. For a place with "sichuan" in their name you would imagine their food to be spicy but everything was so mild in flavor. Even my sister who thinks hot Cheetos are too spicy was able to eat "medium spicy" without any complaints of spice. There was no numbing spice at all. It just taste like I ordered a regular beef noodle soup. The flavors overall were lacking and the noodle texture was very lumpy. Beef roll - one of the better things we ordered. The outside was nice and flakey but the beef was really dry. The cucumbers were refreshing inside. Chili oil wonton - the wontons themselves were good but the chili oil flavor wasn't strong enough. Thai tea - save your money lol. It straight up taste like milk with very very mild Thai tea flavor. They were very busy on a Saturday night, def felt bad for the waiters who were running around. We were seated outside and not once did we get checked in on. We were waiting quite some time for our check before we decided to go inside to ask if we could pay our bill.

Yelp
Absolutely recommend!! I added myself to the Yelp waitlist a few minutes before arriving because it said the wait time would be about 20 minutes. However, after walking in, we were seated immediately and they didn't check if we were on the waitlist. I loved that we could get a seat right away but was also confused as to why they have the waitlist then. All the staff seemed to be busy but attentive. Our food probably came less than 10 minutes after ordering. The soups were both delicious. By ordering through qr code, you can customize the dish to your liking. We were also given complimentary bean desserts after our meal! Very satisfied with our visit and would love to come again.

Yelp
4.5 stars. Came here twice within two months and I really enjoyed the noodles both time. I think their braised beef noodle is one of my favorite in the area. The broth is very flavor and the noodles are cooked al dente. The dry noodle is pretty good too, but it was missing a flavor. I did order side meat so I was able to add more flavor to the noodle, but I don't think I'd enjoy it as much without the meat sauce. For the sides, I liked that you can order extra noodle, so it makes sharing easy. However, just a slight "warning" that the extra noodle is same portion so be prepared for 2x the noodles. The side vegetable would just be the same as the ones you get from beef noodle soup, so don't expect other sautéed veggie dish. The steamed egg was a bit way too salty for me. The cold dishes and braised intestines were pretty good though. They forgot our side veggie and we had to remind them. Other than that, service was pretty fast.

Yelp
Usually have difficulty tolerating sichuan, but this place was able to control the spice and numbing effect pretty well. Zajiang Noodles - 5/5: Nice dry noodle dish that's evenly coated with the sauce and meat. I got mild and still felt a little tingle from the sichuan but made it very enjoyable. Beef pancake wraps - 3/5: expected the pancake to be crunchy and flakey but it wasn't as much. Felt like it needed a type of sauce to compliment it as well. Chili oil wonton - 4/5: good spice, flavor and filling. Sweet corn & pot stickers: I like the crunchy bottom, but the flavor was a bit bland and didn't stand out too much.
google avatar

Benny C.

Yelp
I ordered several things from here and each one was better than the next! I got the; Mian cold combo - This comes with wood ear, spicy beef, and cucumbers. This dish was the perfect trio of appetizers to start the meal off. The wood ear was delicious. Smooth and silky, yet crunchy. The beef was tender and well seasoned. Not super spicy but still very flavorful. The cucumbers were refreshing and very appetite opening. It made me want to eat more! Beef roll - Decent. The pancake was nice and flaky and crispy. The beef was tender and had a good amount of flavor. Chili wontons - It wasn't spicy at all but still extremely flavorful. The pork filling is succulent and juicy. Steamed egg - Delicious! It's just like ho my mom used to make it. Silky, smooth, light, you can eat it anytime!

Yelp
Vibe is amazing! We waited for over an hour, thankfully we found seats inside for waiting and I enjoyed the bustling atmosphere. Since I don't eat pork, I had limited options but thankfully we were able to substitute pork with chicken in some of the dishes like wontons and chengdu noodles. **Chilli oil wonton-$6, 4.5/5 I substituted pork with chicken. Don't let the green color fool you, these were delicious. Infact the best dish of the evening. **Steamed egg and minced pork-$3.99, 3.5/5 We got pork on the side. The first spoonful felt strongly soy saucy to me. But that was only on the top, towards the bottom it tasted much better. **Chengdu Zajiang noodles-$12.99, 3.5/5 Had sichuan peppers but was thankfully not too strong to knock us senseless and leave us numb. Great noodle texture but felt a tad bit too salty. We were able to substitute pork with chicken in this. **Mapo tofu noodles-$12.99, 3.5/5 I recommend getting a fried egg with this. This had a much stronger taste of sichuan peppers and inspite of that was a little underflavored. Soft noodles and soft tofu without other textures felt a bit monotonous. ***chicken fried rice-$12.99, 3/5 I was disappointed with this. Not a lot of flavor forget umami. The rice was a little too crispy and hard in some parts. Chicken was a bit overcooked as well.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Mian for a long time, and finally got the opportunity to do so! I came on a Friday night with a party of 6. We ordered individually and the tab came separate, which was very useful. I got the Sichuan beef noodle soup and tried a bit of my friends' dry noodles and shrimp fried rice. Everything here is seasoned so well, but I would definitely bring a stick of gum for after. It reminds me a lot of Ox9's broth! Really decadent, but I prefer Ox9's noodle variety. Mian's broth is a tad better. The beef is so tender and the bok choy is also delicious. Such a simple classic dish that deserves the flowers it has received. After we paid we chatted for around 10 minutes before the workers asked us to leave since their business was bustling. I can respect the hustle.

Yelp
My wife and I love Sichuan cuisine and we had a good experience a couple of months ago so we ordered again tonight via doordash. We ordered Mapo Tofu Noodle with meat, Chendgu Zajiang Noodles, Chengdu Fried Rice, and Golden Soup Wonton. First issue - they gave me two Mapo Tofu noodles instead of the Chengdu Noodles. When I called, they were gracious, apologized and even offered to credit me - which was very nice of them. My family still had three different things to try/eat, so I don't hold this against them - it happens. The real letdown was the flavor this time. The Golden Soup wontons were okay but the soup tasted like something store-bought and processed. The noodles had an over-powering Sichuan numbing taste and no balance from any other seasoning. The fried rice also was bland and under-seasoned. Overall, a disappointing experience this time for a cuisine we usually enjoy.
google avatar

Vania B.

Yelp
Overall, good food at reasonable prices! I would definitely come back, even if I can't handle Sichuan spice haha. The good thing is you can adjust spice levels, and "mild" is truly mild. Here's what we ordered and my thoughts: - Chengdu noodles: Good flavor and spices, noodles weren't as chewy or good though as the clear broth soup - Clear broth noodle soup: Good textured noodles, broth tastes a bit plain - Steamed egg: Tastes plain to me, even with the minced pork - Beef roll pancake: Perfectly crispy, not too oily. Fresh cucumbers were good for balance. Service was good. Parking can be difficult in this plaza, since this place and nearby restaurants are popular. There may be a wait time to get seated.
google avatar

Allen W.

Yelp
Noodles were a good chewiness - I liked both the dry and soup style noodles, and the mala level was decent! I like how smokey their plum juice was too, but while the other menu items were priced well, the drink was a but pricey for the amount you get. Service was fast and they put together tables to accommodate our group of 10. Lots of parking in a huge plaza.

Yelp
I've seen their food pop up on Instagram and it looked so good so I was excited to give it a try! I know they were busy but after the host showed us to our seat she never mentioned how to order which left us confused for a bit until we noticed there was a QR code and we have to order online. The food came quickly and everything was great! The beef noodle soup was so good and reminded me of Taiwan. We also got the beef wrap which was one of my favorites since it's sweet and savory! On weekends be ready to wait there is usually a line but you can always join the wait on the yelp app!

Yelp
I first started loving MIAN in SoCal where I would drive over 40min to San Gabriel Valley for their location there. I was ecstatic to learn they opened a location in NorCal!! The BEST dish is hands down the Chengdu Zajiang Noodles. It's got minced meat, some veg, bouncy noodles, and most importantly, an amazing chili oil sauce with a slight Sichuan peppercorn kick that has the tongue sweating just a bit. I've tried to replicate their sauce at home so many times but haven't quite been able to get their perfect spicy/umami/slightly sweet balance. Another favorite is their chili oil wontons. I think the sauce is a bit different from the noodles, still very flavorful and tender. I'm so excited that my favorite comfort food has arrived in the Bay! Also the decor and ambiance is so cute, reminiscent of street food stalls. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, despite how busy it was. Will definitely return time and time again!

Yelp
I came here with a few friends as they had recommended this new sichuan noodle spot! I really enjoyed their online ordering system where you place your own order. I got the mapo tofu noodles. The noodles were quite gummy and I was a bit disappointed at how little tofu was given in my dish. However, the flavors were great! Service was also very fast and the interior is very clean.

Yelp
Long wait, but good thing we were able to join the waitlist on yelp. Parking lot is busyyy/packed. Interior was nice, I liked the decor and art around the restaurant as well as the paper table mats. A good amount of seating. The table was also a good size for all the dishes I ordered (some restaurants have the tiniest tables ever). Now the food: - Picked cucumber: It was really flavorful and refreshing. - Steamed egg with minced pork: I only got it because it is in the cup, but would probably skip on it next time as the flavors didn't wow me. But if homey is what you are looking for, this is it! Texture of the egg was good/smooth. - Chengdu Zajiang Noodle: I would get it again! I love the egg too! - Chili oil wonton 6 pc: It was good, but prefer the dumpling in special sauce more - Dumpling in special sauce 6 pc: The sauce is similar to the chili oil wonton, but slightly sweeter with their special sauce which made it better - Beef roll pancake: Good ratio of filling in the wrap Overall: Would go again and try more items! I love how you can get smaller portions so you can try more dishes :)

Yelp
I went on a trip to San Jose, and got to eat at some tasty restaurants. We went about an hour before closing, so we luckily didn't have to wait to be seated. We started off with appetizers, and they were all good. -Beef roll pancake ($9.50): This was our favorite appetizer because the meat was so tender, and the sauce inside was perfect. -Cucumber salad ($5): This was so refreshing, and included a bit of spice. -Thousand Year Egg with Tofu ($6.50): This had a beautiful presentation, and I really enjoyed the cold tofu, along with the egg. -Fried soybean ($2.50): This was a crunchy snack. For the entrees, -Chengdu Zajiang Noodle ($12.99): This was one of my favorites, and I love the egg and bok choy that it came with. We got the non-spicy one, and I'd definitely order this again. -Spicy Braised Beef Noodle Soup ($14.99): We got the mild spicy, but it ended up being quite spicy for us. I might order the non-spicy version next time. I felt like there could be a few more pieces of meat though! -Spicy Intestine Noodle Soup ($15.49): The base of the soup tasted similar to the spicy headed beef noodle soup. However, I really liked the spicy intestines. It was perfectly chewy. All of the service was very efficient. They made sure to check on us throughout the meal. Everyone was friendly, and quickly served and cleared all of the dishes. Kai in particular was an amazing waiter, and our group really enjoyed talking with him!

Yelp
I really wanted to like Mian in the Bay Area and was super excited to devour their food again, but I was left disappointed. I might have had too high expectations for this location because I loved the one in the 626 area. Unfortunately, it just didn't hit the same way. The beef noodle soup was decent but tasted pretty average, and the noodles were too soft for my liking. I was hoping for more of an al dente texture, and it would have been nice if there was an option to customize the firmness of the noodles. I also ordered the beef wrap but it wasn't anything special either... beef wrapped in a green onion pancake which was basic and didn't really wow me. On a positive note, the service was quite attentive and friendly. Ordering was super easy with the QR code, so no complaints there. Overall, it was a decent experience, but not quite what I remembered from the 626 location.

Yelp
STEAMED EGG IS SOOOO GOOD! !! ! !!!! This is a solid new Chinese spot to open in the area. Tons of seating inside, but I highly recommend putting your name on the Yelp waitlist prior. It gets super busy! Parking also sucks... Between the Spicy Braised Beef Noodle Soup and the Clear Broth Beef Noodle Soup options, I would recommend the spicy one! More flavor, but very hearty. If you want a light option, the clear broth is the way to go. The dumplings here were really yummy and affordable too! The "special sauce" surprisingly reminded me of cajun seafood boil sauce. Very garlicky and buttery in taste! I enjoyed these :)

Yelp
The instant I stepped inside the restaurant I noticed how cute and modern it was! The wall designs were cool to look at and I loved the table paper that had cute drawings of the noodle bowls. I got the braised beef noodle soup and it definitely filled my soup craving! It was hearty and flavorful and the noodles were long, thin and chewy. I chose medium spice but I wish I had gotten high since it wasn't that spicy for me. My friend got the dry noodles and it was numbing flavor which I know is suppose to be but I ended up not liking it so would probably get something not Szechuan flavor. I would recommend if you like that! The steamed egg was amazingggg omg. It was warm and fresh, felt like it was just cooked. It melts in your mouth!!! I recommend trying. The beef roll pancake was honestly the best one I ever had, not even kidding. And i've had a lot. Our food came out in a reasonable time and you order on your phone with the qr code so it's really efficient!

Yelp
So good and so affordable! I came with some friends and we went all out to try a bunch of the menu. I could do a deep dive on each item, but I'll just say to definitely get the dumplings in special sauce, hot & sour wontons, spicy braised beef noodle, spicy beef rib noodles, and sichuan style spicy fries. These were by far my favorites and were all flavor bombs in their own unique ways. Mild spice on everything is truly really mild (don't be afraid of the redness). Food comes out piping hot with shareable portions. The only things I would rly pass on or don't think are too special would be the fried chicken cutlet and the shrimp and pork potstickers. I think this place really stood out for how shareable, affordable, yet high quality everything is. Everything tastes super fresh and had signature sichuanese flavors that I love. Service was accommodating too! Space is nicely decorated; reminds me of China.

Yelp
5:45pm on a Sunday and this place is popping! Mian seems to be the new it place in town. We ordered - spareribs noodle soup - spicy beef noodle soup - steamed veggies - fried pumpkin cakes We enjoyed our dinner and believe the soups were probably the best part! The spare ribs itself were tough and the beef while better, still don't compare to flaming ox. Steamed veggies were great but are the same veggies that come in the soups. And I always love the fried pumpkin cakes but why do they have to put syrup on them! I'd come back again if I was craving noodle soups but this place was nothing special. Bumped from 3.5 to 4 star since the restaurant was very efficient and clean.

Yelp
I was excited to try Mian after seeing they had multiple locations in SoCal, and it was quite good! My friend and I arrived around 1230pm on a Saturday and waited about 30 min. I think you can join the waitlist ahead of time, but we were too busy yapping in the car and forgot to lol. Make sure to stay close while you're waiting - they asked if anyone was willing to sit outside (there are heat lamps) and a couple ahead of us got seated faster when they said yes. We ordered everything to share: - Clear broth beef noodle: the broth was light but flavorful, and the noodles were a good chewy texture. The beef was sliced super thin and there were only four slices, so I do wish there was a bit more. I was happy to see a "no cilantro" option when ordering! - Beef roll pancake: I loved how crispy the pancake was! The beef to cucumber ratio was perfect, and the sauce was yummy too. - Chili oil wonton: I'm very partial to a certain xlb restaurant's wontons, so this paled in comparison for me, particularly the chili oil which wasn't as fragrant. But it was def better than chili oil wontons I've had at other Chinese restaurants! This is definitely a family friendly establishment, and there were a lot of small children everywhere (not sure if that's just the Saturday vibe or if it's usually like this). I appreciate that people don't tend to dawdle when they finish eating, and food comes out pretty quickly, so our wait time wasn't too bad. I would definitely come back next time I'm in South Bay!

Yelp
A delicious new spot in a plaza (same as Mikiya) parking is really tough here but once you get lucky to get a spot this place is tightly tucked away. Highly recommend the authentic sichuan food experience, from the classic beef noodle soup to the steamed egg. It was a good spot now the only downside was the ambiance inside it was very tight & the wait was long, they do use the yelp waitlist system so recommend having one person on the party get this setup ahead of time before heading over. I also highly recommend the noodle dishes, anything with the sour flavors is truly authentic (but also May be a tad oily too) :)

Yelp
IMHO First time customer! I joined a short line to add my name to the Waitlist and needed help from a server. After discovering that I had a party of two, he told me to come on in! The restaurant was already pretty full, just 15 minutes after they opened. The interior decor is so cute and bright. One wall has a cool and colorful mural. The chairs look like bamboo and can be hard on the butt, but they added a nice touch to the ambiance. You can order via QR code on the table, but my friend's "old" phone had issues accessing the menu, so she was provided with a "hard copy" menu! I much prefer the "old school" menus myself, however I did order for both of us via the QR code with ease. We both ordered the signature spicy braised beef noodle soup, and added some spicy dumplings, and an extra order of noodles. I liked being able to customize the spiciness of my own soup, either mild, medium or hot. Soup base was delicious and flavorful, with just the right amount of spiciness for my taste. The noodles had a distinct bite and toothiness to them, perhaps a bit too much for me, but good, nonetheless. The braised beef was nice and tender. My favorite dish was the spicy dumplings! There is a great variety of appetizers and soup add-ons to choose from. Next time, we'll order more!!! My tip; definitely order an extra side of noodles to add to your bowl. Service was very friendly and helpful! As a customer, I felt very welcome and valued! Thanks, Mian! I hope I'll be back soon!

Yelp
Absolutely delicious sichuan noodles and dishes. Heads up though that the dishes aren't super spicy and numbing as typical sichuan dishes but it's the perfect level that can also be adjusted for Bay Area palettes. All the dishes were wonderfully seasoned without it being overly salty or spicy. My favorite was definitely the cold noodles that is served with or without chicken. The restaurant itself is not too big and is quite popular so I recommend that you join the yelp waitlist ahead of time if you're dining during peak times.

Yelp
I think the wait time was a little long considering it wasn't too busy. The food is fantastic tho. The noodles were a good texture, good flavor to the broth, and the meat is super tender. 9/10 I definitely recommend the spicy one over the clear. I would come back to try more. The decor was pretty nice too.

Yelp
Pretty busy on a Sunday evening. Joined the Yelp waitlist ahead of time to skip the wait. Definitely gets crowded so be sure to join that waitlist. Inside is bustling and has cute decorations. The 4 of us shared the steamed egg & minced pork, beef roll pancake, Sichuan style spicy fries, fried pumpkin pancakes, chili oil wonton, chengdu zajiang noodle, spicy braised beef noodle, and Sichuan cold chicken noodle. Steamed egg & minced pork was pretty good! Beef roll pancake was decent but had a mostly sweet taste. Sichuan style spicy fries not bad. Fried pumpkin pancakes was more like a dessert with chewy-ish filling inside. Chili oil wontons weren't great as the skin was too tough and thick. None of the noodles stood out to me that much, but my favorite was probably the Sichuan cold chicken noodle. After a while, everything started to have the same Sichuan style flavor so I think it got a bit tiring for me personally. Overall I think my expectations were a bit higher especially after seeing all the hype from the SoCal locations.

Yelp
I knew I wanted to try Mian Sichuan after seeing all the photos on my Yelp feed. We decided to stop by a little after 5pm on a Saturday and the restaurant was already half full. We were seated immediately at the very front of the restaurant and were prompted to scan the QR code to order our food. The prices were reasonable and there was a good variety of things to choose from. We wanted to try a ton of dishes so we just ordered whatever spoke to us that day: steamed egg with minced pork, steamed vegetables, beef roll pancake, mian cold combo (spicy wood ear mushrooms, beef in chili sauce, and cucumber salad), sichuan style spicy fries, sichuan cold chicken noodles, chili oil wonton, and the house special lamb. I'd say the best dishes were the lamb (fragrant, tender, and loaded with flavor), the sichuan style spicy fries (hot, crispy, and packed a punch), the mian cold combo (good variety between the 3 dishes and all tasted unique), and the steamed egg with minced pork (paired perfectly with a bowl of rice for a more comforting taste). I'd skip the cold noodles because it was too oily and lacked in any real flavors besides being spicy. Highly recommend checking them out and experiencing some authentic Sichuan eats!

Yelp
Came here on a Friday evening with a group of 7. They didn't take reservations so we had to walk in. Luckily, they were able to seat us outdoors fairly quickly given the number of other parties ahead of us. Join the waitlist ahead of time if you can. You scan a QR code to order. As a group, we decided to share a few dishes, such as the wontons in chili oil, potstickers with corn and pork filling, and crispy wontons. The crispy wontons lacked in flavor; you really needed to pair it with the dipping sauce. The potstickers were interesting with the corn and pork filling but didn't really impress me. The wontons in chili oil was probably the best out of the 3 but also felt a bit lackluster in flavor. For my main dish, I decided to get the spicy beef noodle soup, with level 3 spicy. It was not spicy at all; if anything, it was just super oily. The firmness of the noodles was good. Beef was tender and bok choy helped make the meal feel healthy. Overall, I didn't feel like it had much flavor. Service was alright. They were quick to bring out our food. All in all, I felt like the food didn't really live up to my expectations.

Yelp
Food was good!! I really liked everything and overall tasted delicious! Some small observations: the beef pancake roll reminded me of a peking duck roll with the condiments and cucumber. The wontons were quite spicy the cucumbers were well pickled. Food was good but I think next time I would want to try a different kind of noodles and the other menu items!! Service was good! Very attentive and super speedy, I like that they are also friendly and pay attention to things like water immediately. Vibes are lovely and lots of people were eating! The store is more casual and fast paced, but still a good place to catch up with friends!

Yelp
A new noodle & dumpling shop just opened in the Bay Area! It's totally my kind of comfort food. The shop was still very busy when we finished our meal around 9 PM. I highly recommend joining the Yelp waitlist beforehand to avoid the long wait at the restaurant. We ordered some appetizers and three different flavors of noodles. You can adjust the spice level on most dishes, and everything was delicious. I especially enjoyed the cucumber salad, Chengdu Zhajiang Noodles, and pork wontons with chili oil! The portion was not big but appropriate, and the price is reasonable.

Yelp
So good on a cold night! My fiance took me here at Saturday dinner time and there was a decent waitlist. I'm glad they let you join the waitlist on Yelp. There's a lot of seating inside, so the wait isn't too long. When you're seated, you order using the QR code at the table. They have a pretty large menu. After submitting, the food came out very fast, and pretty much everything came at the same time. We ordered 5 things: Steamed egg - my favorite appetizer! Nice soft texture, and a nice balance of flavor with the slightly sweet sauce and savory minced meat. Chili oil wontons - these were a little bland to me. I added some vinegar and that helped. I would try the hot and sour wonton next time. Dry noodles - fiancee enjoyed these, though wished there was more meat! Braised beef noodles - beef was very tender! Soup came out piping hot. Pumpkin pancake - nice dessert at the end, though I wish it had a little less syrup. I think it took away the crispiness. If you like spicy, I would say go for the extra spicy. We got medium spicy for the soup and chili oil wontons and it wasn't very spicy at all, with just a slight numbing taste. Looking forward to coming back and trying more items!

Yelp
It's hard to find a restaurant that actually sells affordable AND good food lately, especially in the bay. This place took over the Orenchi ramen spot. Parking can get kind busy depending on the time of day. Upon entering, I noticed the restaurant was remodeled and had nice beautiful artwork. Service was extremely attentive and food came out so freaking fast. I went here with a friend for a catch up session. We both wanted to try various items because it all sounded so good! You order from scanning on the QR menu. Mapo tofu noodle with beef + egg -- i ordered this and loved every bite. Not too oily but the sauce mixed with the noodles so well. Fresh noodles is the best! Shrimp and pork potstickers -- not bad. I like how you could actually taste the shrimp pieces. Chili oil wonton -- pretty good with the spicy sauce. Beef roll pancake -- reminded me of Peking duck pancake wrap. Nice crispy exterior. Chengdu zajiang noodle -- my friend liked her food Steamed egg minced pork -- first time trying something like this. Egg was so soft and silky. Reminds me of soft tofu. Portions were generous for the price. I really enjoyed the food and can see myself coming here again for some noodles!

Yelp
4.5 but I'll round up because service was great. Bustling Chinese restaurant in a Savers / Grocery Outlet strip mall. Lots of flavorful noodles, appetizers and some dim sum fare. Very reasonable prices - both my husband and father were impressed. Would recommend if nearby! Food: The beef noodle soup, ja jiang mian and beef rolls came up as most popular. We ordered these, the beef tomato noodles, combo apps and a side of greens. All very good!! The ja jiang mian has that numbing noodle kick - even mild spicy - and I'd probably stick with the clear beef noodle soup next time. Beef roll was very good - hint of sweetness from the sauce and nice texture from the fried wrap. Enjoyed the cucumber pickled app the most. Prices / value: Very reasonable prices - about $12-13 for a large portion of noodles. $4 for a side of greens. I married a value based Chinese guy just like my dad, and both commented it was very good food and very good prices. Ambiance: Clean, bright and modern interior. Definitely feels more like a trendy restaurant than a mom and pop shop. Very busy and noisy but not in a bad way. There were also a few tables for those wanting outdoor seating. Service: Fast turnover - food comes out quickly and folks tend to eat and leave. Service was prompt and friendly. Order online (with QR code). We also took advantage of the Yelp! waitlist feature to shorten the wait. Kid friendly: The clear beef noodle soup (mom spicy) was very kid friendly - my sons both had two small bowls. There are also potstickers and other kid friendly options. Bowls are plastic and durable. Noisy enough where you don't feel guilty about your toddlers yelling. Saw lots of other little kids here. Overall: Would definitely come back if near the area - fast, good and reasonably priced noodles and pairing apps.

Yelp
My friends and I were excited to try this new noodle place for dinner. I ordered a hot and sour noodle soup with level 3 spice with rice noodles. It came with some bok choy, fried egg, and peanuts for garnish. The soup was balanced and not too spice for their spiciest level. I also got to try the soup for the braised beef noodle soup which was surprisingly light but flavorful. The amount of beef in the beef noodle soup was a small portion which was the only con. Ordering is done through a QR code and the food arrived fairly quickly. We went around 6 on a weekday and it wasn't busy. There is seating both indoor and outdoor. The side was clean and there were extra utensils at each table.

Yelp
You're Sichuan in a Million One of several offshoots to James Beard Award nominated Chef Tony Xu's Chengdu Taste. His SoCal restaurant has seen much critical acclaim, including a five year (2019-2024) run of consecutive Michelin Bib Gourmand awards, which are given "...to restaurants that serve high-quality food at a reasonable price." This one is located in the former location of another Michelin-awarded restaurant, Orenchi Ramen, and seems to have been cut in half, if memory serves. The Good: *Order at the table using QR Code, which will take you to a Toast® website. *Table chili oil and black vinegar were very tasty *If you like heat then you'll love them. I'm conservatively around a seven out of ten on the ability to take heat, but their medium had me sweating like a pig at a bacon festival. Honestly, I'd recommend just getting mild and add your own chili using the table chili oil. *Service was terrific: fast, competent, and didn't overstay their welcome. *Pet-friendly outdoor seating *Huge shared parking lot *Yelp Waitlist *Noodles made in-house and they're really great. There's also a window so you can watch the noodles being made, but none were being made on our visit. :( *Love the décor and ambiance, but they could (old man bitch session warning incoming) turn the music down a smidge. *Beef Roll Pancake was fantastic. Five spice seasoned tender beef wrapped in a fried green onion-like pancake. Be sure to make some dipping sauce with the black vinegar and chili oil to complete the experience. *Chengdu Zajiang Noodles were also fantastic and extremely moreish. The ground pork was salty, savory, and has a slight sweetness when combined with their excellent noodles made this a dish worth every calorie. *I wasn't a big fan of the Chili Oil Wontons at first, but they slowly grew on me. *Prices are amazingly low considering the quality, a true Bib Gourmand winner. You can eat like a king for less than $25/person which is unheard of in this economy. *Not a huge selection, but they do have some beer and soda. The Meh: *Despite ordering thru the QR/Toast site we still had to go up to the counter to pay? Maybe they're still working on allowing you to pay thru the website? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ *Braised Beef Broth was good, but I don't know if was as good as advertised being cooked overnight. I will say it was hard to tell with the copious amounts of chili oil in there, so maybe it's better as a mild heat. The Ugly: *If you get here at opening be prepared to wait for your food, as they get completely HAMMERED by Doordash orders. I'm not sure if it was because we were there on Lunar New Year or if it's always like this? Regardless, the boys are working hard and you'll get your food soon enough. Conclusion: Welcome addition to replace my beloved Orenchi Ramen, and they will be pleasing crowds here for years. Happy Lunar New Year! Gong hei fat choy! 新年快乐 Chúc mừng Tết hạnh phúc!

Yelp
Good new noodle spot in Cupertino! It's pretty new still as of this review, and still has a lot of hype (as evidenced by the crowds of people waiting during core eating hours!). We went at around 11am on a Saturday, and thankfully got in at just the right time right before the crowd hit! The ambience is lively and fun, great place to get together with friends. Seating is a bit tight, but it fits with the friend / fun / homey vibe. You order from a website (QR code on the tables), but pay in person in the end. Overall, the food was good! Strong flavors (which may not be everyone's preference), maybe a little salty. We ordered: - Steamed egg & minced pork: As good as all the reviews say. Soft, silken egg topped with salty, saucy, minced pork, mix to eat! - Chengdu Zajiang Mian: A little too sweet for my taste. We chose medium spicy, which wasn't too spicy (about the same level as hot Cheetos). The sichuan level was perfect, just the right numbness. I do wish there was more pork, the pork & noodle ratio wasn't ideal for me. - Spicy braised beef noddle: I thought this was really good and flavorful, with really tender beef. For both this and the Zajiang Mian dish, the noodles were good, but honestly wouldn't have particularly noticed it if the shop name wasn't "noodle" in Chinese. - Fried pumpkin pancake: fried pumpkin mochi stuffed with red bean. It was more on the herbal side of red bean pastes, which I liked! - Sweet soymilk: good, light, just the right sweetness I would come back, and would recommend! It wasn't perfect for me, but I do think most folks would enjoy a meal here. A good introduction to sichuan taste.

Yelp
Came by for dinner the other night and it was a decent experience. Mian took over the former Orenchi spot including the 2021 Michelin Bib Gourmand sign which is deceptive in my opinion... Parking is plentiful in the private parking lot and dining is available both indoors and outdoors on the patio. Ordering is via QR code at the table. Water was brought to our table as we sat down by staff wearing super tight blue nitrile gloves! Started off with the spicy braised noodle soup and it was decent. Broth was fragrant and the beef was tender. The beef roll pancake was fantastic! Super crispy green onion pancake with cucumbers and beef on the inside. The fried chinese donut looked perfect. This may be been previously frozen. The steamed egg with minced pork was decent too. ~$20/head after tax and gratuity for dinner. Staff came over to take payment in their super tight gloves and also had a couple dice stating if we rolled xyz we could get a percentage discount off our bill?!?

Yelp
In the heart of Santa Clara and tucked away inside a shopping plaza. Small wait on a weekend lunch time with lots of indoor and a few outdoor seating. Loved the vibes and interior of this restaurant with friendly service. Pictured: mapo tofu noodles and sichuan style spicy fries. I got mild spice for the noodles and they were just as expected. The sauce from the mapo tofu also produced a tingling, numbing effect that was very pleasant. Fries were surprisingly flavorful and blew expectations. It was a bit on the pricey side for the quantity given but would definitely recommend trying them. Will have to come back to try the dumplings next time. 8.5/10!
