Laid-back Chinese restaurant serving Sichuan-style noodles & traditional plates.
"Finding a gluten-friendly Sichuan-style noodle house that’s not in the San Gabriel Valley is like seeing a peacock show up in your neighborhood: surprising and kind of thrilling. This casual spot in West Adams from the Chengdu Taste folks stands out with trippy artsy murals, but one of the biggest draws is that all of the fried rice dishes, including an extravagant lobster variety, are GF. And while all noodles in their soups can be swapped out for the GF variety, there are three that are entirely GF, including our favorite tomato and beef noodle soup." - jean trinh 1, garrett snyder
"If you want a proper bowl of spicy Chinese noodles without driving out to the SGV, head to Mian. This Sichuan noodle spot comes from the chef behind Chengdu Taste, one of our favorite spots in Alhambra, and specializes in hand-pulled Sichuan-style noodles made with tongue-numbing peppercorns. The spacious dining room has huge street-facing windows, a sleek open kitchen, and an easy-to-use QR code ordering system attached to every table. It’s a great spot to roll in by yourself for a quick sit-down lunch or bring a group for a casual weeknight dinner. Don’t leave without trying their pork chili oil wontons and a mug of mung bean tea. "While traveling from the Westside to Downtown last week, the sky decided to open like a violent waterfall. This was a downpour that rendered most streets unnavigable, so I pulled off the 10 and into Mian West Adams for a bowl of spicy beef noodle soup. Well-established in the San Gabriel Valley, owners Tony Xu and Sean Xie opened this Chengdu Taste spinoff in West Adams in 2021. This outlet is an ideal place for groups, or in this case, a solo diner waiting for driving conditions to improve. Order any variety of Mian’s Sichuan-style noodles, but pay special attention to the spicy beef. It’s got chunks of tender beef and chiles, plus ample broth balanced by soybean sauce. There’s plenty of baby bok choy and celery throughout, and the bowl is topped with fresh cilantro. Pick up the bowl to finish the broth and you’ll be ready for any journey afterward." - Eater Staff
