"If you’re looking to impress somebody or finally wear that dress you bought for a wedding and never used, head to Michael’s. This Long Beach staple located on the mostly-residential Naples Island has been around for years, but is still the standard for special occasion dining in the area. Are they doing anything particularly different with their food? No. But sometimes it’s just nice to sit on an open-air rooftop patio, drink martinis, eat a whole branzino, and pretend you own one of those yachts down on the water." - Brant Cox

Mixed reviews this evening, but overall it was still wonderful. We ordered a quick appetizer before our real dinner at a place down the street. The octopus was phenomenally cooked and the smashed potato was an excellent pairing. I didn't love the wine or the cocktails but the bartender was awesome and gave us a lot of great tips and recommendations. Their coffee Negroni was superb. The staff did what they could and we appreciate them. Still one of my favorite Italian spots in SoCal.

I recently dined at Michael’s on Naples and had an unforgettable experience. The customer service was truly top-notch. everyone was attentive and went above and beyond, not only with usual services but also by helping with my newborn and stroller needs, making the dining experience even smoother. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the food. The lasagna was exceptional, perfectly layered, rich in flavor, and cooked to perfection. Every bite was a delight! I also tried their pistachio pizza, and it was a revelation. The combination of flavors was unique and delicious, with a perfect balance of savory and nutty. From start to finish, everything exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend Michael’s on Naples to anyone looking for fantastic Italian cuisine and outstanding service. I’ll definitely be back!

Local gem without the hassle of leaving Long Beach. Right on Naples Island, steps from the beautiful canals is the wonderful upscale Italian restaurant. We sat on the roof which was shaded nicely and open/airy. The service was very attentive and professional. We had three courses and split each dash. House-made burrata was amazing. Wonder zucchini blossoms, crispy and hot. The homemade pasta was light, delicate, and had been cooked to the right doneness. The Branzino was artfully deboned and beautifully presented while being perfectly seasoned.

Wonderful Italian restaurant on Naples, offering creative cocktails, delicant varieties of mozzarella cheese, and delicious fresh pastas. Check out the rooftop in the evening for a great experience.

Google
Very interesting place. Its got a intimate lower floor and a exciting bar open air design up top. Filled with the well heeled and beautiful. It's a very nice "right choice" to make. Its going to hold your wallet so know what your coming for. However the dishes are pleasantly and surprisingly good and offer unique touches that set this apart from a more traditional Italian place. Wait staff was on point and ready at the drop to serve you well. I suggest reservations. An interesting observation is the two different "looks" so choose wisely because its a different party.

The duck was excellent. Negroni with dried fig was tasty. Excellent setting for a nice evening.

My evening at Michael's on Naples was an unforgettable five-star dining experience that surpassed all expectations. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere exuded elegance and warmth, setting the stage for a perfect father-daughter date. With a reservation in hand, we were promptly seated, and the convenience of valet parking for just seven dollars made our arrival seamless. Entering the restaurant, we were greeted by a sophisticated ambiance that perfectly balanced classiness with a welcoming atmosphere. The attention to detail in the décor and layout enhanced the dining experience, making us feel like honored guests from the start. Though we opted out of cocktails, the tempting array of libations hinted at the skilled craftsmanship of the bartenders. Instead, my daughter and I indulged in Stillwater and sparkling water, respectively, both impeccably served and ensuring our glasses were never empty throughout the evening. Our server, Bleue, deserves special commendation for her exceptional service. With a warm smile and extensive knowledge of the menu, she guided us through our culinary journey with grace and attentiveness, enhancing our overall experience. Now, let's talk about the star of the show - the food. Executive Chef Eric Samaniego's culinary prowess was evident in every dish we savored. The Pólipo, featuring Grilled octopus, fingerling potatoes, spring onions, and hazelnut chili crunch, was a symphony of flavors and textures that delighted our palates. Next, we indulged in the Gnocchi, delicate potato dumplings paired with braised short rib and taleggio cheese gnocchi, atop a bed of polenta. Each bite was a revelation, showcasing Chef Samaniego's mastery of Italian cuisine. And finally, the pièce de résistance - the Grilled prime 32 oz bone-in ribeye steak, drizzled with Tuscan olive oil and rosemary. Cooked to perfection, each bite melted in our mouths, leaving us craving more. To end our culinary journey on a sweet note, my daughter opted for gelato, while I indulged in the Torta della Nonna. Both desserts were exquisite, providing a perfect conclusion to an exceptional meal. In summary, our experience at Michael's on Naples was nothing short of extraordinary. From the impeccable service to the sensational cuisine, every aspect of our evening was meticulously crafted to perfection. I wholeheartedly recommend Michael's on Naples to anyone seeking an unparalleled dining experience in Long Beach.

We had our holiday party on the rooftop at Michaels, and had a fabulous time. Didn't get pix of all the hits...but here's a few. Massimo the manager & somm, and our server Tyler took exceptional care to make sure the brunch was memorable...and it was. Great service, five star all the way!

Yelp
First time here to the well known Michaels on Naples. Burrata e onions. The burrata itself was delicious. Small portion for the price and the chips could have been replaced with a few slices of grilled bread. Zucca e ricotta Loved the squash. Baked to softness perfection. The pine nuts, pistachios all complimented the ricotta cream perfectly with the greens. Margarita pizza Perfect italian style ingredients. The dough and crust was so soft and flavorful.

Yelp
Let me say, I take no pleasure in writing a crummy review, especially for a private restaurant, but I don't believe I have ever been more disappointed in a restaurant. We are new to Long Beach and looked forward to trying the famous Michael's. We went on Christmas Eve, and I was quite excited at the prix fix, which makes a lot of sense on a night like Christmas Eve. We arrived early as said we weren't in a rush, so we sat at the bar and had an excellent martini. Looking back at it, the height of the experience. The bar was my first red flag. I asked for sparkling water and we received water that had bubbles, then fell flat immediately. But let's be real, if that was the worst thing of the night, it wouldn't even have been worth a mention. But as I said, it was a harbinger. We asked to be moved from our first table because it was between the doors of the kitchen, which might have been ok if not for the very loud exchanges between the servers as they came in and out of the kitchen, so we asked to move and we were accommodated immediately, but then left standing there in the most awkward fashion. We made it to our table and settled in. It was 15 minutes before anyone came to the table, and when they did, there was just "what would you like to order?" No, "hi, can I answer questions?", "can I get you another drink?" Just straight to it, with the asterisk that they were out of several dishes. I did ask for bottled sparkling water so it wouldn't fall flat, but that wasn't an option. It was 45 minutes from when we sat down to our first dish. During that time, we were never checked on. I had my meal with the wine pairing. The first pairing was really excellent and I hoped that the night would turn around. In one or two cases, the wine pairing was genius enough that transformed the dish and without the wine, the dish was one-note. But overall, while so promising, dinner was really disappointing, under seasoned and in a few cases poorly cooked. I've no idea if this was a bad night, or if Michael's survives on a reputation from days long past. So, normally I sign off with a suggestion about going, but this time my suggestion is to pass.

Yelp
Showed up to a late reservation here and they happily took us and went above and beyond with great service!! The food here is INCREDIBLE especially the carne crudo, the pistachio e stracciatella pizza and the chicken milanesa were all fire. This place is a must visit in Long Beach!!

Mike S.

Yelp
GOOD. NOT GREAT. Sorry folks. Wanted to love it. The cost to value ratio is the cause for the low stars. Here's the review: PIZZA REVIEW Margherita pizza cheese not melted. Crust is 1/4 of the slice and it is not seasoned. Dry crust. 5/10. PACCHERI PASTA Big expectations from the server but this dish did not deliver in size or flavor. I'm not looking for an XL portion but man this was like 1.5 cups of COOKED pasta. That's basically a handful of pasta. 4/10. VEGGIE ENTRE OPTIONS Literally Margherita pizza and risotto. That's it. That's all. SERVICE & AMBIANCE Very wonderful! Friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. The vibe is very good for dates. Upstairs is open air BUT it's warm! I recommend upstairs on the patio. SUMMARY I just can't recommend based on what we had and the price.

Alexa D.

Yelp
I grabbed a drink here with a friend and we had a lovely time! The upstairs is really where it's at- such a great vibe up there and beautiful seating. We sat at the bar and my friend got a frosé- there were lots of great frozen drink options. I got a glass of white wine and a one ounce pour of a lovely red- I really liked how they offered one once pours of their expensive wines for people who just wanted to try them out! We didn't end up eating here, but really liked our drinks and the overall vibe of the place. The service was quick and friendly and we had a great time.

Yelp
I took my wife here for her birthday. We'd been here once before years ago and liked it. I wanted to go somewhere really good and different for us. This is it. The space remains open and is comfortable. They have dining downstairs and a patio environment upstairs. They have a really nice wine list. But that was unnecessary tonight as we had tasting menus with wine pairings. I had the chefs tasting menu; she had the pasta tasting menu, The only dish in common was the amuse bouche, a cheese-stuffed deep fried edible flower. Surprisingly delicious. Other than the wine paired with the first course, our wines were different. I then had , tuna crudo, which was fresh, but under seasoned. This was followed by a pasta course with little spicy sausage filled tortellinis. A lovely piece of striped bass followed, which was delicious. The final course was what scared my wife off of this menu-prosciutto wrapped rabbit with a paprika sauce. Very well conceived. The desert was fruit compote with a creamy tart, with a desert wine. My wife enjoyed her pasta tastes, which I tried too. But I was focused on my food. The service was very attentive. The descriptions were excellent. This was a very good meal.

Yelp
People say Disneyland is "the happiest place on earth". Personally I am more happy at this fabulous restaurant. I am one who loves to try every style of food and spirits in many restaurants, but I frequent Michael's the most. As a former business owner, I have many years experience with customer service, so let's start with the friendly, professional, and knowledgeable staff... these guys are at the top of their game. If you love great drinks and fine wines, you will find no better. I hate feeling cheated when I have a cocktail, never happens here! I have pretty much tried everything on the menu. Some of my favorites are the Lasagna, Branzino, Octopus, Gnocchi and most of all the Pork Chop, you've never tasted one like this!! Hats off to the chef for the incredible taste of every entree along with the beautiful presentation. And if you just want something more simple.. amazing Pizza! The vibes upstairs and downstairs are different and both enjoyable depending on your mood or occasion. They feature a very fun soundtrack of music on both levels and now have " live music" on Thursdays. In the summer the upstairs ceiling is open to the sky for beautiful views of sunsets while you drink and eat. Knowledgeable and friendly staff, incredible drinks, delicious food, fun vibe and music. What more could one ask for! Treat yourself to one of the finest dining experiences.

Yelp
Good atmosphere. Slow, like very slow service. Our server seemed inexperienced. Wish service was more attentive. Went for dineLA but ended up ordering off regular menu. Duck steak was little too rare for me other dishes were alright.

Ernest S.

Yelp
Good price point, great service!! Good times!! Pomodoro E Burrata Gnocchi Con Coda Di Bue Gnocchi Con Coda Di Bue- amazing - fresh and tasty!! My favorite- a caddy Margarita!!! Not bad Bread was fresh and crispy!! A special today!!! Mushrooms from oregon with a delicious pasta!! .. wow You must try!! A bar upstairs as well as downstairs!!! Spoke with the Chef, he's amazing and creates great dishes, 100% best in Long Beach for this concept!!! Thank you Chef, pasta was amazing.

Yelp
Great local pizza place. Been here a lot of times but rarely able to get a table so a lot to go instead. But once in a will, we were able to scored a table. The staff are nice and pleasant. The foods are great, the doses just nice and tasty. Just love it.

Anders Christofer C.

Yelp
This is a great place to hang out in with great food and very nice staff. The absolute favorite is their pizza with chili oil on the side and share with someone while having a glass of wine. It is a bit upper scale restaurant and they are not that cheap. I expect even sharing a pizza a few glasses of wine that end up around $150. However great place to take someone out where you can wear fancy clothes and have something to eat.

Amy N.

Yelp
This is a cute place to dine. I've only sat upstairs and it's a great place to bring a date. This time we tried: Margherita pizza with pepperoni and salami - wow amazing!! Pizza is on point! Spaghettineri con aragosta- this dish was ok. I thought it was like warm. I like food hot, as in fresh out of oven temperature hot. Branzino - I thought the branzino was a tad fishy. I know it's a fish dish but usually it's very flavorful. Homemade ice cream- mint chip, hazelnut and pistachios. The consistency was amazing!!! I would say come here for pizza and the homemade ice cream!! The rest is fun to try too. Full bar with descent wine options as well. Staff was nice and accommodating which was appreciated:) Valet parking only and if valet is not available good luck finding parking.

Cindy R.

Yelp
We started our dinner with their polipo. It was delicious. The octopus was soft and well paired with all of its dressings. Following their appetizer, we had their estate salad. The salad was a great followup to their octopus. It was light and refreshing. For our main course we had their branzino. Keep in mind it is grilled and it's served with charred marks. So it's gives the branzino an over the fire (like a campfire) taste. I enjoyed it. We had no reservations and walked in around 8 pm. To our surprise we got sat down immediately. Once they walked us upstairs the atmosphere was extremely pleasant. It feels like you're in someone really nice backyard. They played lots of Motown music and the lighting was dim. Overall I'd go back.

Kelsey N.

Yelp
We came here because of the pizzas! We got the margarita and pistachio and straciatella pizzas. The pizzas were delicious and a good size for personal or sharing tbh. The only reason I took off a star was because the service was insanely slow and we spent almost 3 hours there with the restaurant being mostly empty and it was earlier in the evening. But overall the food was really good!

julie s.

Yelp
Another wonderful NYE meal for our anniversary! Every dish on the prix fixe menu was fantastic. The service is lovely, the restaurant is very comfortable. If you're lucky you may still be able to get in before the ball drops. Happy New Year 2025 everyone

Jonathan B.

Yelp
Nicest place in our neighborhood! Food was great and lots of locals eat here. Always a good sign.

Scott J.

Yelp
This place is by far one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever been. So authentic and everything is extremely delicious. You can tell they put a lot of attention to detail in their dishes, making sure to get the best and high quality ingredients. They also make a point to have a seasonal menu, to ensure what they serve is using the freshest ingredients. We have come many times and this review is long overdue. They also have delicious desserts that are not too sweet!

Jazzmine M.

Yelp
My dinner date and I loved this place! We ordered the burrata sampler and peaches (that included more burrata), which were so totally worth putting my two lactaids to the test. Fresh, went so well with the flavor packed pestos and peaches, and I definitely made sure the leftovers came home with me. Love branzino, which I'm used to just being served roasted or steamed a la carte, and the tomatoes were just the perfect touch of acidity and sweetness with this well-prepared fish. Next was an order of the lobster pasta, which had this great seafood-buttery sauce that clung to the pasta well and big, tender pieces of lobster. We brought several bottles of wine and the server was so, so nice, easy to talk to, and did a great job serving our wines in carafes and champagne stands. Great conversationalist, very warm, and I think was a great addition to our experience that evening.

Nick G.

Yelp
Located right near 2nd street. Parking is on the street. Just be careful for signs. Ambiance was nice. The workers were very nice and informative. Ordered the octopus for appetizer. Was cooked to perfection, wasn't chewy or hard, just the right bite. Also ordered the squid ink pasta with lobster ragu, absolutely delicious. Had a little kick of spice to it which I didn't expect however still amazing. For dessert ordered the Jacopo Poli Vespaiolo Grappa drink and two cannolis. The grappa was very smooth and went down really well. The cannolis were fantastic, cream on the inside wasn't sugary which made it very pleasant to eat. Highly recommend.

Stephanie S.

Yelp
This place is serving up some Italian brunch options and $1 mimosas with your purchase of any meal. They do limit you to one mimosa per person, and it wasn't filled up all the way which was a bit odd. They make their mimosas with freshly squeezed orange juice, and this paired so well with their homemade biscuits and jam! I love their carbonara pizza with two poached eggs on top, and their Calabrian chili oil added such a nice kick to it. The poached eggs were a bit too runny for my liking and I usually like runny eggs. Their eggs Benedict is such a classic, though the bread got a bit tough if you don't eat it fast enough! We also got their apple fritters for dessert that came hot and fresh, which was the perfect way to end our meal.

Yelp
We went here for my birthday dinner and it was an overall amazing experience. The service staff were super kind, accommodating, and were frequently checking up on our table to keep our waters refilled and answer any questions. Since it was our first time, our server, John P was very welcoming and gave us a clear explanation of their menu's offerings. It helped us narrow down what we wanted to order for our meals. He had such a positive energy and made us feel well taken care of. Their Shirley temple was super tasty and had the perfect amount of carbonation and soda mix. For our appetizer, we ordered Gnudi--a very delicious option. Very creamy and loved the texture. For our entrees, we ordered Lasagna, Tagliata, and Pappardelle. Among the three, the lasagna tasted almost PERFECT! The textures were on point and each bite felt amazing. The Tagliata beef came alongside brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes: the combination of three tasted perfect, but the beef would not be able to standalone. All three of the entrees came with a perfect serving size; enough to satisfy your hunger and definitely worth it for the higher price you're paying at a fine dining establishment. Again, the lasagna might have been the BEST item on their menu--definitely order it if you like lasagna! When looking for a dinner venue, I kept ambiance in mind. We were seated on the main dinner seating level, with a retractable roof. There was a perfect amount of lighting to set the mood, and the fairy lights made it more calming. Definitely a great ambiance and environment for a relaxing dinner outing. I fully recommend this place to anybody looking for a positive fine dining experience in Long Beach!

Yelp
Went on a Sunday brunch date with my husband and this place is perfect. It's such a beautiful restaurant and we did sit on the rooftop to enjoy our breakfast. We ordered the steak and eggs and duck hash and both plates were extremely delicious! The duck hash was so unique and it's definitely a must try. To start we had their gallete they are their biscuits served with butter and homemade mixed berry jam. They straight melted in your mouth. And you can't leave brunch without some dessert and we tried their little donut balls. Oh my goodness I'd come back just for these. Was great efficient quick and so friendly. You truly felt welcome and energy was great. We definitely want to come back to try their other dishes and other menu specials they have throughout the week.

Yelp
Michael's on Naples is an upscale Italian neighborhood restaurant that delivers on quality and flavor. The food here is far superior and incomparable to their sister restaurant in downtown Long Beach. If you go to one of them, Michael's on Naples is the only one to choose. The only negative is that it is overpriced for their smaller portion serving size. We sat in a semi-private room off the main dining room. It was comfortable and much quieter than the main dining room. I found the table setting quite exceptional. Their menu is somewhat limited. None of their appetizers or salads are reasonably sharable for more than 2 people. The burrata e pomedoro comes with 6 heirloom tomato wedge slices and a dollop of burrata in the center. The misticanza green salad is an individual serving. For an entree, I had the favorite Orecchiette pasta with pork sausage, which had a very nice flavor profile. As some diners may prefer it, the fresh pasta was prepared a bit too al dente for my liking. The portion size could be considered an adequate portion, but for $29, I was still a bit hungry. Be aware that strangely, they don't always serve chicken at all as an entree or even as an addition to any of their pastas which was the case during our visit. Service was excellent and met my expectations for a fine dining experience. Even though we were in the private "Chef's Lounge," we never had to seek out service from our wait staff. Our plates were removed promptly and water and drinks replenished. We never felt rushed. You can probably find better value elsewhere, but overall, Michael's on Naples is definitely an exceptional Italian neighborhood gem worth visiting.

Karen M.

Yelp
We have been wanting to try Michael's on Naples for years. Took the opportunity since it was my husband's birthday. Service was top notch. Tyler was our server and he was engaging and eager to make our experience enjoyable. The food was outstanding. Rooftop bar was perfect ambiance for the evening. We will definitely be back. Sorry it took us so long to visit! P. S. I made reservations online and noted my husbands birthday. I did not mention it to our server and we were pleasantly surprised with the ice cream dessert with a candle... On top of the chocolate decadent dessert we ordered with espresso martini! It was nice that they acknowledged the comment on the reservation about us celebrating his birthday! Thank you!

Donald M.

Yelp
First thing I suggest is to review the menu choices prior to getting there. Menu is unique and if you are looking for traditional Italian food this is Another the place. I couldn't even get a pepperoni pizza. We ordered two pizzas. They were just ok nothing spectacular. The pizza dough was sort of hard. The bread served at the table was really hard as well. U comfortable to eat. If you order an old fashion be prepared for missing ingredient, there were no cherries which are signature for an old fashion.

Rodney B.

Yelp
Hmmm... can't say I was impressed. The ambience was extremely nice especially for a date night. But to be high end, I can't say I was amazed by the food. The pizza didn't really have much flavor. We got the Mozzerella appetizer, the beet salad (not pictured) and the bread. The Mozzerella appetizer was lukewarm and the cheese was a bit gummy. The beet salad tasted very fresh but it wasn't packed with much flavor. The service was ok, but overall, didn't feel like it was worth the price point other than the ambience.

A A.

Yelp
Polipo octopus appetizer was excellent. Orecchiette and Paccheri pastas were both good.

Zoila N.

Yelp
We attended a private party here hosted by friends. The private room could accommodate up to 30 people with private bathroom. The menu was pre-selected for us with options for apps, first and second courses then dessert. The heartiest app option was the sausage over polenta (not pictured). I had the beet salad which was light and refreshing. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about all drink options especially the wine choices. Gnocchi with braised short rib was well made. The spinach lasagna though was the clear favorite for everyone. Most of us ordered the steak which was cooked perfectly to everyone's request. I opted for the fish which had nice crispy skin. For dessert the clear winner was the almond cake. Alot of people found the chocolate ganache too rich and hard to finish. They made a great cappuccino! Our waitress and staff did an amazing job with our private party, great place to have an event!

Yelp
Thank you Chef Eric and Gloria for a memorable evening during the American Legion Yacht Club cruise out to Long Beach. The gourmet appetizers prepared fresh on our boat were amazing and loved by our members. The specialty pizzas were eagerly devoured and enjoyed. Thank you for your personalized incredible service and tasty treats. Your support of this event for our military veterans is greatly appreciated.

Yelp
Food was very good - But!!!! Our order included hamachi crudo appetizer, short ribs & rigatoni, Zuppa di Pesce, & pizza Margherita & pizza Estate. My main complaint is that the waiter never offered the happy hour specials or the Monday pizza specials. We had to ask for them. This is so not right! If an establishment has special offerings it should be communicated -not hidden unless asked for!! Service was extremely slow. I appreciate food cooked to order, but water & bread shouldn't take over 15 minutes to arrive at the table. Not an upscale vibe, more pretentious & not hitting the mark of worth the price or hype. I suggest management send anonymous friends in to see & report on these issues. Nice but I might not return based on this experience.

Alexis C.

Yelp
We came for dinner on a Friday night very hungry. We had a reservation and were sat immediately in the formal dining room on the first floor. The room was quiet, with a few tables occupied. Eager for food, we waiting patiently for menus. No specials that night due to the NYE chaos prep. After a bit, we sat with the menus and the wine menu to ponder what we wanted. We passed on the tastings, and went a la carte. I ordered wine and my husband had a cocktail. Started out great with appetizers: pears with prosciutto and the roasted cauliflower with cauliflower puree. Seasoned well and delicious. The water kept coming, the bread basket filled and olive oil restored throughout the night. Our mains took a while as my husband ordered the lasagna and I ordered the gnocchi with short rib. Please make a note if you are to order the lasagna that it takes 25 minutes! (THIS SHOULD BE ON THE MENU OR SAID ONCE SAT) With that in mind, we ordered the spinach salad to tide us over. Duck egg and bacon dressing was lovely! The mains came to the table and sadly, underwhelming and under seasoned. Presentation was great, food was hot, server was lovely - but the taste was a miss. The gnocchi was al dente, short rib was minimal and the sauce had a strange bitter flavor that didn't seem right. I did not finish. The lasagna was massive, beautiful colors, perfect al dente, piping hot but zero flavor. We went for dessert just to see and ordered the chocolate tarte and a side of coffee flavored gelato. Not sure why, but that also took a while to hit our table. Again, it wasn't a busy night at all. The tarte was small, loaded with chocolate flavor but the crust had no salt and the gelato was the tiniest scoop known to man. Brutal description but facts. Given the cost of the menu items here, there's an expectation that the food is quality. I hope this resonates and change is made as Michael's has potential!

Christine K.

Yelp
I am sooooooo sorry, but this place is not good. my mom and I had the chef tasting and pasta tasting menus and not a single thing from either menu was remarkable or even average tasting. I'm saying sorry because the restaurant is nice and the staff were nice, as well, but they really should work on their menu, especially the prix fixe ones since they are supposed to be special. I will say as a disclaimer that I am Asian and am used to more bold flavors I guess? but man, the flavors throughout both tasting menus were just not put together thoughtfully. I took my mom here for Mother's Day, and I would recommend going somewhere else to celebrate

Olivia A.

Yelp
Ambiance in the upstairs bar/terrace was warm and welcoming, only exceeded by the top notch service and excellent food!

Manny S.

Yelp
We had a reservation at the rooftop. The service is excellent. They have the most extensive wine list I have ever seen. We had the pasta pairing for my Wife's birthday. The food is good, but seemed over priced for what it was.

Excellent food, value and service. We ate off the happy hour menu. Polpette, Arancini, Rotolino, mussels, Gamba were very well executed. We ordered a salciche pizza of the regular menu. Very good. Happy hour bottle of Suave, martinis and Barbera tasty. This harkened back to the pre-inflation days when you could get a decent value. Blue provided excellent and friendly service. We will be back to try other things on the menu!

Yelp
Wow what a wonderful experience here! Was able to call around 6pm on a Saturday night and make a reservation for 3 at 7:45pm and they had room in the upstairs outdoor patio which was covered and had heat lamps (was perfectly warm despite it being chilly out and slightly rainy). Upon arrival Valet greeted us (which was only $7) and walked inside about 10 minutes early, however they greeted us and sat us right away. The service from hostess, waitress, and other staff was all very friendly and they were attentive to our needs. Our waitress took our drink orders which I decided on a Nonino spritz and it was a perfect aperitif! The ambiance was perfect with great music - mostly a calm mix of classic rock songs, early 90s, and some current tunes. What we ordered for appetizers: -Calamari (absolutely delicious and I was so happy it wasn't fried!) -Mozzarella tasting (burrata, buffalo, and mozz) which was tasty -they also offer bread with olive oil, balsamic, and salt/pepper which was sooo good! Dinner: -Prosciutto and arugula pizza which was INSANE how amazing it was! The crust was to die for!! -Margherita pizza with added salami - wonderful flavor on the spicy salami and the sauce was mouth watering -Tortellini - my friend said it was okay but with the price being nearly $30, the dish was a bit sad in serving compared to our pizzas. We shared some slices of pizza! *only thing about the pizza...having to cut my own slices with a tiny steak knife was not the most fun. Dessert: -Meyer Lemon Tart which left something to be desired for me unfortunately. It was good but nothing spectacular. -Mint and Hazelnut Gelato which my friend enjoyed -Hazelnut and Chocolate Tart with gelato which ended up being the best dessert! Very yummy! Overall loved my experience here and would be happy to go back next time I'm in Long Beach!

Yelp
A couple things. I worked in the restaurant business for a few years. Despite all that, the wife and I still enjoy a good old fashioned trip to Denny's, so we are far from food snobs. For starters, every encounter my wife and I had with the staff on Friday was nothing but cordial and professional. However, it did not make up for the food served on Valentines Day. Pre fix menus on Valentines Day are hard to pull off. Everything comes down to timing, food prep, and plating. Its difficult to pull off with an experienced staff. My wife and I have been going to Valentine's Day pre fix dinners for more than a decade now. While I didnt enjoy every plate that came across my table in the past, at least one dish usually made up for something that didnt quite hit. That all being said, I've never had a pre fix Valentines Day dinner where every dish was consistently bad or poorly plated until yesterday. The bread was, well, bread. I've had better and worse, but its not better than anything you'd find at an Olive Garden. The "gnocco fritto" was the same consistency and texture of a communion wafer. There was, what I could tell, maybe a 1/8th teaspoon of caviar. Paired with some manner of white burrata and you get an unappealing, tasteless boob-shaped appetizer. My wife got the scallops next, and I got the pork belly. The scallops were cold, slimy and without taste. Without anything else to go with it, it was difficult to swallow. Also, by "scallops" we got a single scallop sliced into multiple pieces. I got the "grilled pork belly", which was not grilled. It was maybe poached? But tasted more like it was boiled. If there was citrus in it, I couldnt find it between the boiled pork tasteless lentils. Also, the pork belly was one half of one strip of pork belly, maybe a quarter inch think, maybe. For the main dish we got the "Sauteed prawns" and mushroom "Bolognese". The risotto came out the texture of wet rice, but somehow tasted more bland. I will have to talk to management about what they consider a "prawn", because what we got were tiny diced unseasoned shrimp mixed into the watery risotto. My "Bolognese" was the most edible of all the dishes served, albeit with undercooked pasta. Not something I'd pay $100+ for. We both chose the Ribeye "cap", or at least one that was severely cut down to size. Ribeye caps are about 8 inches wide when cooked. What we got were about five 2-3 inch pieces served on bland, tasteless cabbage and polenta. Lastly we got both types of desert. Thank god we did because the white chocolate custard was the only thing that made the intensely sour raspberry syrup on the mousse edible. The only reason I am leaving 2 stars here is because of the servers and the wine pairing, which were both fantastic. We ended up spending the rest of the night in the bathroom taking turns throwing up what we suspect are bad raw scallops. We will not be returning.

Yelp
I went here for dinner for a Farm to Table tasting menu that happens on Wednesdays. We sat on the second floor outside on the patio area. It was $45 per person, and if you wanted to partake in a wine pairing, it would be $75 per person. We had the Stuzzichino, which was crispy potatoes with creme fraiche and caviar. Next, we had the Crudo, which was Japanese Hamachi. For our main course, we had the Gnocchi. The sauce that was paired with this dish was light and enjoyable. We really enjoyed the vegetables with it, as well. Last, we had the Crostata di Rabarbaro, which was a rhubarb tart. Everything was delicious, but I didn't care too much for the dessert. For drinks, we had 3 mocktails and 1 cocktail. Our server's name was John, and he was a delight. There's free parking in front of the restaurant. Although give yourself ample time before your resy, sometimes all the spots are taken on busy days.

Yelp
This place has a 2 seating area, one when you walk in and another upstairs. When it's not raining or too cold it would be an open space. The bar is also located upstairs. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable on both food and drinks. The food wasn't too bad. It was done out Long Beach and we took advantage of the good ideas they had. Let's begin with the bread, so good!! Who doesn't love free bread!! The cocktails was delicious and presented well! The appetizer had a decent portion. My favorite was the croquette, the salad may not look presentable but it was delightful. The braised beef cheeks was off the hook, very tender and went well with the mashed potatoes

Yelp
The food was excellent, but we felt like we were out of place since we weren't regulars. You could tell how friendly they were to all their friends. They gave us drinks when our food took too long to come out even thou we hadn't ordered alcoholic drinks with it meal.

Yelp
Drove by here so many times on my way home and we finally stopped to have a meal. When you enter you're greeted by two wonderful ladies who will seat you. The bottom floor has a Bar and dining area that appears to be the main dining area. we were seated upstairs which appeared to be more of a relaxed atmosphere. The upstairs has a larger Bar seating area with additional tables. The Lasagna portion is large enough to share it is delicious, the Spinaci salad is good, the Drinks are well-made, and overall our dining experience was satisfying. Highly recommend Michaels. Parking is a little difficult; street parking only, and on certain nights they have Valet parking. Great service.

Yelp
Amazing experience. Customer sevice was out of this world. Friendly and instructive on food. Blossoms were amazing. The octopus was sooo fresh. Pasta was perfectly cooked Al dente.

Yelp
Great neighborhood gem! Had early dinner upstairs by the bar. This room had sky views with retractable blinds and was decorated with outdoor lights. I thought it was outside seating and brought a jacket but didn't need it after all because technically it was indoors. Downstairs has a more formal and intimate appeal. ( Please note, NO elevator to get upstairs.) Italian dining here was very enjoyable. We tried numerous appetizers prior to our entrees. Everything was good. Homemade pastas was a treat. Also, awesome cocktails, wine and spirits selections. Corkage fee of $30 per bottle /limit to two. Although, if you purchase a house bottle, you can open another of your own bottle ( plus corkage). Beware of parking. We got lucky and found a spot out front, but likely it is a bit difficult. (Locals would know this).

Yelp
Everyone and everything was excellent! Can't wait to return. A shout out to Blue. You're wonderful. Thank you all.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience! Parking was really easy on the street. I was able to find a spot right in front! The people that work here are all so warm and welcoming. Deborah, Gigi, and Johnny all were friendly and ensured that I had a perfect dining experience. Alex was my server and not only was he friendly, but he was attentive, knowledgeable, and familiar with the menu, and provided amazing recommendations which all blew me away. I got the Crystalino cocktail to start - easily the prettiest cocktail I've ever had in my life. Also deliciously tart and sweet. To start, I had the octopus - which was SO good, close to the tenderness and deliciousness to the octopus I had in Portugal. The hazelnut crunch was unique - slightly spicy and well-balanced with the potatoes and spring onions. I could have ordered a 2nd of these and would be happy. For my main course, I had the branzino. Perfect grilled flavor, extremely tender, and delicious. I would absolutely recommend getting this if you're looking for something that won't make you feel heavy after. For the dessert I had the trio which included the almond cake, the chocolate torte, and the zeppole. Perfect end to the perfect meal! Highly recommended - I'll be back!

Yelp
Let me just start by saying how much we enjoyed the food and wine!! We came here on a Friday night for a special celebration and had such a great time on the rooftop- super cute decor and vibe. They had the heat lamps so not too cold either. We got the pasta tasting and chef tasting, both with wine pairings. The food was really fresh and tasty and you can see how they carefully planned for the order of the course- from lighter to more and more flavorful. The wine pairing was also excellent and very fitting (very generous pours too lol). There was no dish that we did not like, but if we must pick one, our top favorites were: squid ink borsette & braised pork belly (I am drooling as I type this lol). We also really appreciate their great service. Probably not going to get the tasting menu every time we come back, but we are totally coming back and highly recommend the tasting menu for special occasion!

Yelp
Talk about a Diamond in the Rough! Michael's on Naples is a true hidden gem! While considering what to have for dinner, we realized we hadn't been to Michael's on Naples since their remodel. (sorry...) The environment was great! Formal and casual. Great date night place for sure. We had a waiter, a server an a bus boy checking on us throughout our meal. Because it had been so long since our last visit, we tried the two tasting menus. While the individual servings we somewhat small, there's 5 courses and by the time we got to desert, we were stuffed. Home made pasta, home made cheese.... Everything prepared perfectly!! I highly recommend Michael's on Naples, if you're looking for a great, hone made meal.
