Michou - Review - Pike Place Market - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Michou Deli has a display case of pre-made deli sandwiches waiting to be pressed into paninis, as well as ready-made salads and baked goods. All of it is excellent—they serve some of the best fast-casual lunches in the city. The paninis here are all delicious (get anything with the roasted chicken). End things with the banana cake or a cornflake Oreo bar. photo credit: Erin Lodi" - Aimee Rizzo

Where To Get The Best Picnic Food In Seattle

"Michou Deli is a fantastic lunch spot with an impressive display case of premade deli sandwiches waiting to be pressed on a hot grill. They also have a refrigerator case full of dishes sold by weight in little Tupperware containers, like pasta salad and roasted golden beets. Once you’ve got your panini (get anything that has roasted chicken) and some cold orecchiette with pesto, make sure you tack on a slice of banana cake or a cornflake bar. This is a lovely gem in Pike Place! Unfortunately it was very crowded and when we went, and there was almost a line out the door. The food was great and there was only a short wait for my sandwich that I ordered toasted. This is definitely a place you’d pop in to grab food on the go, because there is almost no seating. I got a Tuscan Chicken sandwich for $12, which seemed a little overpriced. Staff were friendly and fast, but clearly stressed at the rush. I would go there again.

Google
I came in to get a sandwich and a salad. The food was good, and the person at the register was polite. However, the person preparing the sandwiches was unnecessarily rude. I wasn’t being difficult, I just tried to clarify my salad choice, but they seemed irritated, sighed loudly, and tossed the salad container toward the register. I’ve worked in customer service before, and I always try to be kind and understanding - which makes this kind of attitude really disappointing. I didn’t leave a tip because of the way I was treated. I hope this helps improve future customer experiences.

Google
This place is so good. And very reasonably priced big sandwich for under $10. We stopped by on our way to the airport so we'd have something to eat. After eating here a couple days before. Mac and cheese was also great.

Joy

Google
Very good food!! I got crispy chicken sandwich and 3 cheese bake. Staff was nice and my food came out fast.

Google
It’s too bad Michou has diminished in quality because of pricing. An Italian sandwich with one slice of ham and a single slice of pepperoni for $14 w/o gratuity is out of control. This used to be a go-to guarantee of quality and quantity for a great price, but not anymore

Google
For all the salmon lovers out there, this place is a must-visit! Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. The staff was incredibly friendly and easy to chat with, making the experience even better. I highly recommend stopping by and picking up some of their amazing salmon jerky. Our personal favorite was the peppered salmon candy. It was good, we had to take some on the road with us!

Google
We didn't get much here, but we did buy bacon to eat with pastries purchased elsewhere each morning. The bacon was excellent! It was crispy and perfect thickness! The best part about it is that it is charged by the pound, which was very reasonable! We got 4 slices of bacon for sit $2! We will definitely be back for the bacon and to try some of the other delicious looking food.

Google
Avoid the lines at some other places nearby and head here. Pleasantly surprised that they had four different flavorful vegetarian sandwiches to choose from. Recommend on your visit to Pike Place Market!

Yelp
You know that a business is excellent if you have a strong desire to move closer to the establishment so you could enjoy it more frequently. As someone visiting Seattle, I truly wish that I had a restaurant like this where I am from because they offer such a wide variety of delicious foods, and they are all on display. I was not very hungry before entering the establishment but seeing all of the food options glistening behind the counter made my stomach grumble! My boyfriend and I wanted to try a couple of bites because we were tasting many restaurants in the Pike Market but I was struggling to narrow down my choices because I wanted to try EVERYTHING! We ended up ordering the garlic pesto polenta, and a pastry that had a THICK 1.5 inch orange creme filling. Oh my goodness the food was so delicious. The polenta was perfectly soft and crumbled in my mouth and I loved that it had roasted garlic under the melted cheese. I expected the pastry to be heavy and for the creme to be thick but it was so airy! The orange flavor was so subtle and elevated the taste of the pastry so nicely. My boyfriend and I noticed that they offer breakfast foods that are sold by weight, so we took note of this and came back two days later! We got an affordable breakfast to go for the airport! Most importantly, Michou has a cozy, warm ambiance that makes me feel like I'm with my loved ones. I don't know how they achieved it but maybe it was thanks to all of the kind servers/workers and customers!

Yelp
We had some pretty good sandwiches here. The thai beef had a nice marinate flavor and the sandwich stayed moist even after toasting. There was a nice ratio between the veg, meat, and bread. The banana pudding was also delicious.

Yelp
Michou Deli at Pike Place Market offers a delicious and budget-friendly option for a satisfying meal. I tried the half Tuscan chicken sandwich, which was tasty and warmed up perfectly. The melted cheese complemented the chicken, and the vegetables were fresh, making it a sandwich I'd definitely get again. The service was great and friendly, adding to the positive experience. Michou Deli is a fantastic stop if you're in Pike Place Market, offering fresh sandwiches and other food options. The half sandwich was a cheap meal, costing around $5, and it provided a great portion size without being overly filling. For those looking to try different foods in the market without getting too full, Michou Deli is an excellent choice. There's a really small area for seating but the restaurant is pretty tiny overall. Luckily it's right by the market so you can walk around or eat on the benches outside.

Yelp
I visited michou between work shifts and it was the perfect grab n go spot!! They're known for their sandwiches and there was no line when I went around 4pm. They have tons of sandwich options as well as salads and bakery goods. I ordered half a roast beef gorgonzola ($5.51) which was recommended by the worker! It contains roast beef, caramelized onions, a gorgonzola spread, and greens! It's a simple sandwich but it's tasty and also decently priced. Definitely have them toast your sandwich!! Michou is a solid spot to check out while in pike place! As I was leaving a customer was ordering her same sandwich because it was just that good!

Yelp
I have been coming here for years. They have some North African dishes that ou seldom see at other places. We got a sandwich, Moroccan yams, zeppole, and a French Canelé. While the place was quite busy, the two gentlemen assisting customers were polite and moved quickly. I especially enjoyed the yams and the pastries. Really fresh. We were trying different dishes around the market, so did not order a lot. But they had such a variety of salads, soups and sandwiches that ll sounded delicious. Would love to come back and try more.

Yelp
Don't pass up on Michou! You'll def see lines for Piroshsky Piroshsky, Starbucks, Beechers...and while all of these places are iconic for a reason, Michou is also worth dropping in for some deliciously hearty sandwiches and other tasty treats. They have more than sandwiches too - including a soup bar, fresh pastries and other cold and hot dishes. Service is solid and the vibes? Totally worth stopping in especially if you're hungry and not wanting to wait.
google avatar

Carrie B.

Yelp
Okay! We all know how expensive it can be to eat out these days, but as we were out and about in Seattle, walking the market area, we popped in and noticed that we could get half a sandwich for $5...and it could be grilled panini style or served cold. We opted for panini style and then splurged on a donut too--just to top it off! So glad we did! My husband opted for the Italian and after asking the young man behind the counter what his favorite was, I opted for the pablano beef! They were both really good and a quick snack that was decently priced...and the doughnut??? Well...think about the best chewy bread you've had (think French bread) and add the sugary goodness of a doughnut...I may be back on the morning just for that! Hahaha! Great service, friendly crew, clean, and of course...fun people watching! We will be back, Michou! You've been warned! Haha!

Yelp
I was walking around the marketplace on pike street checking out all the little shops and walking back from the original Starbucks I spotted a lady in a window eating a delicious looking sandwich so I went inside. And glad I did because they have such a great assortment for a great price! I bought a half roasted chicken sandwich with a soda and total was under $7!! It was delicious and what a steal! They also have other items and soups! And friendly staff!!
google avatar

Nequel B.

Yelp
This was a cute little deli! I needed to grab something for my flight and got a sandwich and a doughnut. There are a ton of optional the staff is kind, and they heated up my sandwich l. I don't have a close up of what I got just know it was delicious. It was t super busy either so if you have a chance and you want a solid sandwich, you should stop by this place.
google avatar

Laur L.

Yelp
Good value. In a world where I can't get a big sammy for less than ten dolla unless I use a coupon at Subway or go to gas stations, I obviously was curious about the ones Michou was offering. They have other stuff that's kind of disorganized but still looks appetizing, and they even have cheap cans of name brand soda. The sandwiches are a little dry but ask them to heat em up.
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
Absolutely massive and delicious sandwiches. The service was extremely prompt and the gentlemen seemed very nice, even though it was near closing time. The ambiance felt like a typical deli and still professional. I would highly recommend if you're in the area or if you work nearby!

Yelp
Great grab and go sandwich/salad/dessert spot right in Pikes Place! We stopped in on a Wednesday afternoon to grab lunch, and the line was short. We ordered two sandwiches, and split a side salad. The options of food here is awesome, and if you are looking for something quick, Michou is perfect since everything is grab and go style. There are so many salad bar options, I was overwhelmed by which one to order! Our sandwiches were incredible and we got them toasted, which I really think made the sandwich. I think we had ordered, paid, and received our food within 10 minutes of us ordering which was exactly what we were looking for

Yelp
I am absolutely shocked why I have not written a review for Michou. This is my absolute favorite deli in all of Seattle. Conveniently located in Pike Place Market. Sandwiches are prepared fresh and they offer daily specials. Food here is made with the good stuff! Prices are absolutely reasonable. Service is quick, easy and friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
I was at Pike's place and decided to grab a bite. I came across Michou and it looked really good. The display of sandwiches was appealing and looked like a good choice, as we walked the counter we saw dolmas, so order few and then saw the pastries!, so we order some. Unfortunately the sandwiches lacked flavor, texture and although the whole sandwich reasonably priced at under $10, it was not worth it. The dolmas were great and the pastries really good Their beverage selection is almost non existent, therefore the rating. Service was fast and cordial. Ambiance, typical deli store. Small sitting area.
google avatar

Yelp
The hype about their sandwiches are real!! Service is friendly and efficient. I had first looked at their online menu and got overwhelmed (it's laid out like a diner menu).. but it was easy to see what their gems were once you got there. Sandwiches were all out front. I got the whole size of the teriyaki tofu sandwich. I'm not a sandwich person but the way the bread just melts in your mouth along with the blend of grilled tofu, feta, and vegetables-- wow, I'm converted. Did not expect it to be this good. They have some counter seating so if you're a small party/traveling alone then you can eat quickly and be on your way. My friend ordered a half size of the sandwich (neat that they have different size options!), tortellini, eggplant, and a few other pastries.. and no complaints either!

Yelp
One of the best spots for cheap eats at Pike Market, always fresh options great prices, friendly staff and the kitchen is always clean.
google avatar

Yelp
The place is located in the Pike Place area. They have limited indoor seating. I got the Crispy Chicken Sandwich and it was pretty bland and dry. I wish they had added more sauce to make it tastier. Service: 5/5 Tip(s): - Limited indoor seating - Accept Apple Pay

Yelp
The perfect spot for a quick lunch, Michou has high quality food with reasonable prices and quick service. Though the line is always long, it moves quickly and is worth the slight wait. The sandwiches are delicious, and I love that you can buy either a half or a whole sandwich. The bread is fresh, soft, and steams as you pull it apart. Even after a day in the fridge, it reheats wonderfully. There's a great selection of salads, quiches, and pastries available, all fresh and all delectable-looking. This is my favorite place in Pike Place Market for an affordable, warm, filling meal!
google avatar

Carrie B.

Yelp
Cheap and amazing variety of fresh food. Just like momma makes it. Soups, sandwiches, pasta dishes, salads, quiche, etc.

Christopher M.

Yelp
Great food and excellent prices, and good variety of sandwiches and baked goods. I had the chicken caesar bacon sandwich and my son had the tuscany chicken sandwich, along with a banana chocolate bread pudding. We finished it all.
google avatar

Nick J.

Yelp
This place is very good. They have multiple items, various sandwiches, pastas and desserts. I ended up getting a turkey, ham, bacon, sandwich, and a doughnut hole.
google avatar

Francisco C.

Yelp
Been coming to Seattle for the longest barely discovered this deli very lowkey but very underrated! The sandwiches here seems basic but they're to die for, they can be grilled or cold but they vibe better when they're grilled. They also have many other side options like a pasta that I got very cheap but very filling! Also a variety of soups to go along! The service was quick and the speed of the warmth of the sandwich is just as good! Made to go or to eat in! Come here you won't regret it
google avatar

Yelp
Food: 2/5 Service: 2/5 Ambiance: 2/5 Let's start with the good! The location of Michou might be its best highlight, as it is right downtown near the water and close to Pike's Place. It is super convenient for the location and service is rather speedy. Now the bad, the sandwiches while a decent size lack any real flavor or substance that makes you want to take the next bite, I did not personally finish my sandwich as it was not appetizing. The service was fine however, it was rather disorganized, with no menu and no system for the cashier to know what you ordered. The inside of the location was fine with a few bar stools but very crowded and awful flow of traffic for costumers inside the shop.
google avatar

Wendi K.

Yelp
Had a bunch of items picked up for lunch and brought to my place :) apparently they were out of a good amount of items by around 2 pm. Tried the: Tuscan Chicken Sandwich ($7.75 for a whole) Tomato and Brie ($7.75 for a whole) A couple sides ($2.95 each), one was a grilled and marinated eggplant and the other was a fresh lemony orzo with spinach. Everything was full of fresh, high quality ingredients and so amazing! GREAT portions and prices given that's in pike's place too!

Yelp
Michou was a must for us when in Seattle. After looking at the pictures of the food they had, we knew we had to stop by for lunch. Luckily on the day we stopped by, there was no line. The inside is small and so finding a seat here on a busy day is probably nearly impossible. There were two employees working and neither of them acknowledged us. We stood at the counter, and they just kept going about their day. When we finally knew what we wanted to order, I had to catch their attention. We ended up ordering two soft drinks, one whole crispy chicken sandwich, one whole roast beef sandwich, one loaded baked potato, and one chicken noodle soup. The soup was self serve and he handed us the baked potato right away. The roast beef sandwich came out about 10 minutes after we had ordered. The crispy chicken sandwich was mine and so I sat and waited. While waiting, I decided to give the soup a try. The soup was not good. It was flavorless and soggy. There was not a lot of broth so it tasted like a mushy mess. The potato was ok. Just your typical baked potato. It definitely needed salt to give it some type of flavor. About 25 mins had passed and the workers kept chatting and doing other things. I finally went up to ask about my sandwich and they both looked at each other. They had totally forgotten to make it. I told them it was fine and so they said they would make it right away. I waited about 5 more mins for it to be ready. The area we sat in was cute. There were two stools facing out the window. I did see a couple customers walk out because the workers never acknowledged them. There is definitely room for improvement here and it definitely seems like these guys don't care about their customers or the business. The sandwiches turned out to be really good and I wouldn't mind stopping again when in the area, they just need to work on their customer service skills.
google avatar

Prath C.

Yelp
We came here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. The ambiance of the store was very lively and welcoming. There was not much of a line to order. The place was super cute and the sandwiches here are very aesthetic to look at! One thing to note is that there is limited seating indoors. We ordered the Two Tomato Brie Sandwich. The sandwiches are always grilled on both sides and the corners, which I thought was a nice touch! The sandwich itself was pretty good, but I do wish it was a bit more flavorful or had a stronger sauce. I think the flavor was a bit muted, but it was still pretty good overall! Overall, I definitely enjoyed my sandwich here and will be back to try other flavors in the store when I'm in the area!
google avatar

Karla M.

Yelp
Great place for lunch by Pike Market. Super large selection of sandwiches and salads deserts etc. long line but moves quickly. Limited seating inside. Sandwich was dry but good!

First Name L.

Yelp
They've gotten a bit pricey lately with the pay by weight items, but still my favorite deli in Seattle. Their sandwiches are the best in downtown.
google avatar

Jo W.

Yelp
Solid sandwiches. For our final Pike Place visit before heading to the airport, we came here for takeout to eat at the airport before the flight back home. We got a Poblano Beef sandwich (Zoe's roast beef, greens, onion, mozzarella, house-made poblano sauce). We got a whole sandwich cut into half, and it was plenty between both of us. I also got a chicken & gouda pasta bake. This was my favorite thing to eat from here! Think of a cupcake, but made out of mac and cheese, with a bit of chicken! Mmmmm. I'm sure they tasted better hot, but even after we bit into the sandwiches at the airport, they were still good.
google avatar

Leslie C.

Yelp
Why is this place so highly rated??? I agree that the prices are very reasonable but that's about it. There is almost no seating. There are no customized sandwiches. What you see behind the counter is it. I ordered the fried chicken half sandwich with cucumber salad and Asian broccoli. Hubby ordered the Reuben. The Reuben was perfectly average. The chicken was incredibly boring and a tad soggy. The pesto and provolone on it were bland. The bread was nothing special. The cucumber salad was good. The broccoli was a bit too sweet but otherwise fine. I will not bother to return.
google avatar

Robin D.

Yelp
Tasty sandwiches and treats that are surprisingly well-priced for this touristy local action. The line was short, but the wait was long and the sandwiches were a little dry, but the baked goods were spectacular and the soup was pretty good, too. We sampled: Italian Tuscan chicken Italian wedding soup Cocoa bread pudding Matcha Mochi (our favorite by far!) Take your food to go across the street to Pike Place and grab a seat outdoors on the deck overlooking the harbor.
google avatar

Ploy N.

Yelp
Quick and easy grub spot in Pike Place. Their deli offers a few varieties of sandwiches, which they're known for, and other ready-to-eat food like salad, pasta, and baked goods. I like that they toast the sandwiches for you ans you can order half a sandwich to mix different kinds. Beef ones were pretty tough tho so I'd vouch for the chicken one. Service was fast. Not a lot of seats. Good for grab & go.
google avatar

Olive R.

Yelp
My outlook on a new place: "must be interesting if there's a line...lets check it out. If I don't like it, I don't like it." Well, turns out this is one of those places. I was hoping for a turkey sandwich, but they didn't have anything of that nature. I still wanted to try something, so chicken sandwich and some sweet chili salmon cuts were on my table in about 20 minutes. The sandwich was super dry!!! Even though I know there was mayo, some sort of cheese in between those two thick slices of bread, it was still very very dry. The salmon on the other hand was a solid C (reason for the two stars). But considering it's been in a plastic casket, it tasted like it.
google avatar

Vivian L.

Yelp
Over priced deli foods that tasted good not enough but not amazing or anything for the price. Was recommended by my white friend she liked it so maybe you would too, there's often a line. Pros: in house Japanese butter bread made fresh once weekly (Tuesday if I remember correctly) I take home to make Japanese egg sandwiches yum
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
One of the artists selling in Pike Place Market recommended this place to me for lunch. I got their fried turmeric chicken, power green with chickpeas and kale, and a piece of baklava. Everything was delicious and I was impressed with the diversity of dishes on display. Great spot and I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Connor H.

Yelp
Dependable lunches are what Seattle thrives on. If you are looking for a solid five dollar sandwich, this is the spot. Michou delivers quality deli food at a great price. They carry a wide selection of sandwiches, hot food items, and pastries. You could eat here every day of the week and not have the same thing twice. The guy behind the counter also gave me a free doughnut. I'm definitely looking forward to visiting again.
google avatar

Jun Li Z.

Yelp
They have the best panini sandwiches in town! Get their sierra chicken or ham and cheese panini. They come in halves too, for sharing
google avatar

Xiao Z.

Yelp
Don't understand the hype about this place. Ordered half sandwich and it looked like this, barely any meat, chicken was not seasoned, it said to have pesto goat cheese spread but barely anything on the bread. Not to mention I waited for almost 10min to heat up my sandwich because the staff totally forgot about my order very disappointed about this place and would not go back
google avatar

Jodi S.

Yelp
Cute deli located right across the street from Pike's Place Market. Not only do they have large sandwiches, but they also offer a variety of other dishes, sides, and baked goods. I was very impressed by the diverse options. There is an area on the side that has pre packaged food if you want something quick. The chicken caesar bacon sandwich was tasty but I found it to be a bit dry. Since they are premade, they grab it from the case and heat press it per request. There was no additional dressing added. Next time I would try something different. The polenta was very good. I liked the pesto layered on top and there were a lot of roasted garlic cloves included. There are only a few tables located outside. We ended up taking our meal through Pike's Place to their larger outdoor seating area.
google avatar

Chase M.

Yelp
Very reasonably priced sandwiches, especially for Pike place market. Good sized too. Definitely will go back.
google avatar

Jennifer U.

Yelp
I had the half turkey sandwich for about $6.50 US it was so filling and fresh bread and meat and cheese so good and filling. Clean deli, great service and so many choices of sandwich and soup I strongly recommend. They have some seats but you can grab and walk through the deli.
google avatar

Alex N.

Yelp
For a deli it's pretty good, lots of choices to pick from! If you want a sandwich they have plenty of options and even sweets too. The fried rice ball was very interesting and delicious.
google avatar

Jaime D.

Yelp
Had a sandwich and shaved Brussels sprout salad. Very tasty! Also got a piece of nainamo bar to bring home. It was delicious!
google avatar

Yingbo W.

Yelp
I got a bread pudding dessert for $3 and a plate of wild mushroom raviolis for $6! What a steal (for Seattle). This place has amazing food and a great option for lunch. Prices are super reasonable for the quality!

Yelp
OK... I'm not even a sandwich type a girl, I have to really be in the mood to eat a sandwich. However, the sandwiches at this place are good as hell. While on a trip to Seattle, I walked upon this place and had to stop by. First of all, a lot of the food located at Pikes Place Market can be expensive. For me to see sandwiches going for under five dollars, I was intrigued to say the least. What was more intriguing was how delicious all of the sandwiches looked it..it was actually hard to decide which one I wanted. I got the chicken Tuscan, my first go around, and it was so good. The bread was fresh, the meat was tasty - just perfect all around. I loved my half sandwich so much that I had to stop by on my last day in Seattle and get another half chicken sandwich, different kind, to go. As I'm writing this review, now back at home, I'm eating my sandwich and am I satisfied.
google avatar

Hiral P.

Yelp
Great bakery in pike place. There's never a long wait and the food is always good. They have a wide assortment of sandwiches and there's a little area to dine in unlike most places at pike place. The prices are pretty good for the location too. I highly recommend this place.
google avatar

Rachael G.

Yelp
We were hungry and ventured into Pikes Market Place, knowing they have a variety of places to choose from. They decided on Michou as the line was not too long, and it smelled terrific. They have a counter of many sandwiches to pick from; they then warm them with a panini press and cut them in half if you order a whole. Chicken and Goat cheese 5/5 I liked it, and it had an excellent flavor and was stuff generously. Poblano Beef 5/5 was good, not spicy at all as I thought it might be, also very great flavors. I wanted to try more but opted to get a whole sandwich instead and just split them, as they were generous in size.

Yelp
Favorite lunch to-go in Seattle. Huge selection of delicious sandwiches and paninis, side salads and pasta salads, delicious desserts - enormous selection, ridiculously low prices ($7.75 for huge sammies, desserts for $3), great service. Random list of goodies we love: - Sandwiches ($7.75 whole, $4.25 half): Crispy chicken, Sierra Chicken, Turkey Bacon. More than a dozen sandwiches to choose from - Desserts: Zeppole (cinnamon sugar or orange blossom, $2.50 for 4), orange chocolate bread pudding ($2.99, they always have a selection of bread puddings), Nanaimo bar ($1.95) - Breakfast: Thick sliced bacon, buttered corn and ham bun ($1.50) - Salads: Mexican street corn salad (elote), curry chicken salad. Two dozen salads to choose from...insane!

Yelp
We were so hungry and wanted a quick bite to eat! They have such amazing sandwiches and foods to pick from. We were able to pick up a few half sandwiches and walk around while eating! The service was quick and looking at all of the food behind the windows was perfect. We were able to walk around the market and enjoy our surroundings at the same time! Everyone needs to try something from here before leaving Seattle!
