"Midori Sushi is a pretty casual place with ESPN on the TV in the corner and just a couple of booths and a handful of seats. When it comes to the menu, the Society Hill spot has the specialty options like the grilled salmon or jumbo shrimp roll that you should go for instead of the classic ones. Packed with torched cuts of salmon, avocado, and covered in teriyaki sauce, it’s a crunchy and sweet balance that pairs nicely with the high-quality fish." - Candis R. McLean

Google
Hello everyone, so it's been YEARS since I have visited this fine restaurant. The food remains as I remember it. DELICIOUS. I went during lunch and had the Teriyaki chicken (lunch portion). For a few dollars more you can upgrade your dish to the dinner portion if you are really hungry. 😋 Service here remains on point. The other dishes you see in the pics are chicken fried rice and teriyaki & bento combo. As starters they serve Miso soup followed by a small salad. They wait time for our food was minimal. By the time we were finishing our salads, the main dishes were being brought out. Great lunch place. If you like sushi, this place will not disappoint. Stop by if you are in the area.

Google
Very delicious Japanese cuisine. Everything is aesthetically pleasing to look at (food and restaurant decor). It’s my new go-to sushi place. The staff is friendly as well.

Google
Really enjoyed this place today! It’s super close to us, food was great, and the price was amazing!! Definitely going back

Google
I love the food and service at Midori Sushi, I visit at least once a week. The Salmon sashimi is incredible, and I love the baked Salmon & Asparagus.

Google
I need more than 5 stars. This place is awesome and definitely worth the visit. The prices are unbeatable, the sushi (according to my friends) is fresh and delicious, and the service is on point. Try the dumplings and teriyaki if you don’t eat seafood like me! Owners are friendly and really take pride in what they do.

Google
WOAH!!!! This is hands down some of the best sushi I've had, definitely top pick for DFW. What a hidden gem. The restaurant is casual, low key, and so affordable. The sushi is FRESH, food all around so authentic. Staff is so attentive. 12/10 recommend.

Google
The menu has quite a few choices. The food was very good. Very large portions! We had a bowl of miso soup, salad , grilled seafood and the combination plate with terriaki steak, and tempura shrimp and vegetables. We went back and enjoyed the Chef Special! Delicious!

Google
I really appreciated my server. She was attentive and very nice. The complimentary Miso Soup was also appreciated. I enjoyed one of my rolls more than the other. That could be on me, based on my order. However, both rolls had some integrity issues. It's a small thing, but I appreciate not having to worry about my rolls falling apart when I dip them in soy sauce. That being said, that could have been a one-off thing.

Yelp
We have eaten the volcano roll, bento boxes, tempura, salads, soups, sushi and a number of rolls. Very good and very consistent! Service is always kind and efficient. The restaurant has been here so long they have wonderful memorabilia on the walls. Take a moment, if you like football or golf in the area of DFW!

Yelp
I recently dined at Midori Sushi and unfortunately, it was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. The sushi didn't taste fresh at all; there was an odd, almost sour smell to the fish, but I ignored my instincts and assumed it would be fine. I ordered several sashimi pieces along with some squid salad, and hoped the quality would match the prices. Within a few hours of eating, I started feeling extremely sick, and soon enough, I was dealing with the unmistakable symptoms of food poisoning. It was awful. The next evening I woke up in a cold sweat and my wife rushed me to the ER thinking something seriously was wrong with me. Upon getting to the ER I was showing signs of sepsis. If you don't know what that is, look it up. After approx 8 hours in the ER and a battery of tests, the Dr's final diagnosis was indeed food poisoning. I went home slept and couldn't work for another 3 days. It was the worst bout of food poisoning ive ever had. I'm beyond disappointed and very concerned about the food safety at this place. I went to the owner after all of this to let him know and to see if he could reimburse me for the meal and the hospital bills. He recognized me, remembered my meal then told me to talk to his insurance, who denied the claim even with a Dr's diagnosis!!! There are plenty of great sushi options in the area. I would suggest dining at one of those great places. Do not risk your life and well-being going to Midori Sushi. I'm hesitant to ever try sushi again after this experience, and I would strongly advise anyone thinking of dining here to reconsider. Food poisoning is not something to take lightly, and no restaurant should be this careless with raw fish.

Yelp
Arrived at 7 pm on a Saturday night and about half the tables were filled. I ordered: - The Spicy Tuna Tower $10.50: Beautiful presentation, however the rice on the bottom was stale. Spicy tuna was just ok. - Sushi Burrito: $7.99: fried california rolls with a teriyaki glaze? I guess I should have read the description better. I've never had a fried burrito, so what showed up threw me off. Very salty. - Beef teriyaki and shrimp/vegtable tempura, with potstickers $16.99: Served with 4 shrimp! Also served on a plastic to go tray, which is weird, but maybe this reduces waste if most people end up with leftovers? It is a lot of food! Beef was a small portion but good flavor. I definitely ordered too much food for one person, but I wanted to try a few different things. Overall, the tempura was my favorite, but you can get that at a lot of places. The Spicy Tuna Tower was prettier than it tasted. Unfortunately, my standards are higher, coming from the Bay Area. Everything was just really salty and I ended up drinking a lot of water. On the bright side, the ambiance is nice and the service was excellent.

Yelp
One of the best hidden gems in DFW This place is a must try for their sushi ! The service is also very welcoming

Yelp
Ok Foodies... Chef Steve is a Culinary Artist of Perfection. *Sashimi combo *Tuna Tower *Cold Kigen Sake Cant go wrong if you Love Sushi !

Yelp
Went in for a Bento box, got the teriyaki chicken. Took one bite and it was horrible! It tasted like it had been microwaved. Really gross. When I commented to the waitress, she said she could swap it out for the fried pork option, but it would be more expensive. Wow. Ok...so I got that...and it wasn't any better. See pic...quite a few of the piece's had this gross fat or something, and it is not meant to be consumed. Oh, and when I mentioned to server while paying that the chicken just wasn't good, she then informed me it was defrosted. But it was grilled. Yeah...microwaved. Service was nice, she was just doing what she was told as far as still charging me extra for the gross pork. But sadly I'm already paying for this meal gastro-wise.

Yelp
If you aren't getting sushi, then you should probably try a different place. Sushi was yummy. But all other plates were not what was expected. First, the service was a bit off, as our appetizer arrived after two of our plates had arrived, our plates did come out at the same time. Probably due to a large party they had at one end of the restaurant. The tempura was delicious, so points there. Otherwise, what I thought would be a meal with grilled protein and veggies on the side was more like a hash or mini baby scallops and baby shrimps with diced bell peppers and carrots and grilled onions (grilled shrimp&scallops). I also asked for fried rice instead of steamed and it was not what I'm used to, it had the diced bell peppers and carrots and mushrooms and huge pieces of onion. The seasoning was lacking as it just tasted like bland egg. My companions ordered the combination box. It came with mixed tempura (yummy), gyoza, rice, and a small sliver of salmon teriyaki. Maybe had we stuck with ordering sushi we wouldn't have been as underwhelmed. We are also not local, so maybe this is just how they do things in Dallas.

Fred P.

Yelp
This is a great local sushi spot. Not fancy, but the sushi is very good and the prices are very reasonable. Service also very good.

Jeanette M.

Yelp
WOAH!!!! This is hands down some of the best sushi I've had, definitely top pick for DFW. What a hidden gem. The restaurant is casual, low key, and so affordable. The sushi is FRESH, food all around so authentic. Staff is so attentive. 12/10 recommend.

Ami C.

Yelp
For the price the best sushi hands down. I definitely don't come here for the ambience. Also, expect horrible service, I've been coming here 10+ years and it has always been the same. Servers standing around, not doing anything talking to each other when drinks need to be refilled, or we need to-go containers and the check. I can't remember the last time I came here and I didn't have to get up to get my own to go container and ask for the check. If the food wasn't so amazing, I wouldn't continue to come here. I highly recommend the spicy, tuna tower, the Cajun roll, the lobster roll, and the burrito roll. I don't think anything on their menu is bad, but these are my favorites. They do have a large menu, so several items to pick from which is nice.

Yelp
This particular sushi spot has been around LC for ages. And it has been on my radar so I came by for a quick meal at the sushi bar! I came in on a rainy evening thinking for some reason it would be dark and intimate for dinner. The restaurant was bright and small-ish inside but cozy. The servers all seemed to know most of the patrons who were in there. So I can tell this is a neighborhood fave. The patrons next to me I overheard talking about how they have been coming for years and years and love it. Since this is a new to me sushi spot I played it safe and ordered the Cali roll as well as plain fried rice. The meat is a buck extra if you want to add it to the small side dish. The fried rice was probably the best I've had in a while at a Japanese place. California roll was just okay. Rolls are huge though and there was lots of crab. I think next time I'll venture out by trying something more of their specialty. Love the miso soup that comes with the meal. Inexpensive (but good) house wine. No real HH specials but the prices are good enough. I'm still in search of a place in Irving for sushi that I really love. But I liked this place enough to explore more. I shall return and soon.

Yelp
I was in Irving yesterday for an appointment; and I just googled sushi near me; this spot popped up and had decent reviews for the most part. It's in a strip next to a grocery store. The place, walking in, is nicely sized, kinda dim but cozy intimate. Decor is eclectic; mix of photos of folks on the wall which have me an old school Italian restaurant vibe mixed with the traditional Japanese decor. The waiter was very friendly when I came in. They were pretty busy for lunch; there were two servers and and husband wife duo who were the sushi chefs and owners. They're menu is quite nice with lots of choices, and the prices!!!! Lowest I've seen especially moving to Texas! So that was a plus. Portion size to price on the items I got were adequate. Presentation was nice; freshness was good. Taste was pretty good. Service was great; the girl and guy who were waiting on me both did a great job helping each other out with the rush. And you could tell this place has loyal patrons; they seemed to know all the customers. I ordered a few things to try. The miso soup was great! I ordered the green mussels special; which was tasty, I ordered a tuna roll I can't remember the name of; but it had spicy tuna on the inside and raw on the outside, the spicy tuna mixture was delicious, the raw tuna on the outside wasn't bad but it looked like it was artificially colored red. I took it off bc it honestly tasted better without the raw portion. And lastly I had some nigiri; albacore, spicy scallops and salmon. The salmon was good but the scallops and albacore were my favorite!!!!! Again nice little spot to stumble upon.

Yelp
The food in particularly the sushi is wonderful and fresh made right in front of you. I ordered four rolls the first time I came in and each one of them was delicious. I am here on business but I can already tail. This will be my dinner Spot several days a week. I highly recommend you will not be disappointed . The pure selection is amazing.

Zabdi P.

Yelp
Literally come here every week for their Spicy Tuna Tower. If you want something fresh and good, I cannot recommend them more. It a cute little place and they are so sweet every time I go. Seriously love this place and will continue to come every week!

Jonathan C. F.

Yelp
Great experience and very original ambiance. The food is fantastic and I highly recommend the spicy tuna tower.

Emily S.

Yelp
Reasonably priced, clean, friendly service and GREAT selection! Everything we had for lunch was fresh and tasty and left us happy.

Yelp
This review is about the MacArthur/Northgate location in Irving. This was our second visit and, like the first time, we were rather disappointed. At the first visit all the rolls were loose and fell apart when we picked them with our chopsticks. Didn't post a review because I hoped it was a fluke, considering the restaurant has great reviews. The second visit, same problem. Not sure if because they weren't made well enough or the rice was dry or poor quality. They tasted OK (the dryness didn't help) but not fresh, and it was really unpleasant to have them break every time we picked them. Also, the many little plastic cups filled with pre-portioned pickled ginger sitting on the counter at 5PM waiting for the dinner crowd gave us a cheap, fast food feeling. Do they put the unsold ginger that's been on the counter all night back in the jar and serve it next day? Positive points: the sashimi was good and fresh. The complimentary miso soup at the beginning was nice. The young lady who served us was very nice too. Sadly, the rolls created an overall rather disappointing experience. Maybe the restaurant changed management or their sushi chef, or is cutting corners too much? Don't know, but either way, we won't be returning

Melanie G.

Yelp
Very, very good! I popped in today for the first time when I saw they had a resonably priced sushi buffet. Not gonna lie, I kind of expected the sushi to be a bit dried out and flavorless (like at most buffet places) but it was fresh, delicious, and there was a great variety! Obviously they aren't serving up premium sushi for the buffet, but they had classics like spicy tuna, salmon, california, tonkatsu, and seaweed salad. They also offered delicious teriyaki chicken, fried rice, tempura chicken and shrimp, sauteed veggies, and fresh salad with dressing. I enjoyed everything I ate, and the servers were prompt, friendly, and attentive without being intrusive. The interior of the restaurant is quaint, nothing fancy, but clean and uncluttered. I appreciated the quiet background music for the ambiance. I will definitely be back!

Sheridan Z.

Yelp
I really love this little "mom and pop" sushi restaurant. The fish is fresh and rice is perfectly seasoned. My favorite is the Salmon Maniac, since I love a lot of salmon. They smoke their smoked salmon in-house and it tastes incredible as well. All of their nigiri are well portioned and delicious. Very skillful chef and prep! Have been here multiple times and will continue visiting.

Andi F.

Yelp
I live in the neighborhood close to Midori's. my husband and I have been going there regularly for 23 years. I would hate to see it ever close. the Waite staff is so kind, speedy, and gracious to all customers. the food is absolutely wonderful. we love going there to eat or taking an order to go. the atmosphere is calm. you can actually talk and hear each other. we are so thankful we only live a mile away. our favorite dishes are Midori Special #1, Tuna Tower, and Sushi Burrito. fabulous!!!!

Nicole Q.

Yelp
Terrible food and terrible service! We were first delighted that we were offered complimentary miso and a sample of one of their special rolls. Both were good but not exceptional. We ordered two skewered appetizers. We were very disappointed that the stick crab was just imitation crab on a stick. At $6 it was a poor deal. Next we had the tuna nigiri. It was cut way too thick and tasted dethawed from frozen. For our entrees we had the spider roll and ranger roll. The spider roll was underwhelming and the ranger roll was served piping lava hot. There was only one waitress for the entire room. It's not her fault considering her work load but we werent attended to during our meal. We waited almost 20 minutes after finishing just to ask for our check. Overall, not a good experience and we won't be back.

DT B.

Yelp
Used to be the best lunch spot in town. The lunch buffet had tons of options, quality was great and the taste even better. We recently had lunch again here - sad to find out they omitted their buffet but even sadder to find out the quality has suffered tremendously. The best thing out of the entire meal was the salad - the dressing was amazing. None of the sushi was good - doused in sauces. Teriyaki chicken (tasted like it was out of grocery store bag). My kids would not touch it. Sushi rolls fell completely apart. Needed a fork to eat. Sad day for all of us, as our fav spot is no more.

Ben S.

Yelp
Our post-covid visit, we expected the lunch buffet but it was no longer. We ordered Bento boxes and a couple extra items. It was OK but not the buffet we were looking forward to. Traffic was light, unlike when they had the buffet. We drove the extra distance for the buffet, next time we will stay closer to home.

McKenna S.

Yelp
Recently found this little hole in the wall. The food and staff were so amazing, will definitely be coming back!

Shenell E.

Yelp
Not too shabby for a cheap lunch spot if you're craving sushi. The buffet is small but a good if you want a quick, filling meal.

Amanda R.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time a couple of days ago. The service was verrrryyyy slow. They brought out my food way before they brought out my boyfriends food, so my only option was to wait politely and let my food get cold, or eat before the other person got their food. I don't eat sushi so I can't speak to the taste or quality of the sushi, but I had the Chicken Teriyaki with Veg / Shrimp Tempura. It was fine. Kind of underwhelming and dry, but I ate it without complaint. The pricing is fantastic. I definitely think they price their products well! And I'd say the food was good for the price. My boyfriend liked 3/4 rolls he tried.

Mykie D.

Yelp
Not impressed at all with the food or the alcohol selection. Service is lax and food is just ok.

Christof S.

Yelp
Great selection. Fresh Seafood. Friendly staff. Great for Lunch or dinner. Cudos to the owner and his wife. They do an amazing job working the counter and talking actively with their guests. Always helpful and accommodating. Will be back very soon.

Drake A.

Yelp
These sushi chefs are amazingly trained. I'll probably eat here way more for the next few years. Not to mention the new one with the tattoos is so handsome!!

Ann L.

Yelp
My husband and I had a wonderful dinner here. The service was great and food was so fresh and tasty. We ordered yellowtail collar, yellowtail salad, octopus salad and teriyaki chicken. The price is great and we will definitely return.

Michael L.

Yelp
This place is amazing. I went in today for lunch and had salmon sashimi as well as the Red DRagon sushi roll. The food is delicious, the beer is ice cold, the staff are extremely attentive and friendly. The restaurant is quiet, calm, and cosy. I really loved it and plan to take a friend there next weekend.

Honesty B.

Yelp
The service is fast! And amazing. You get a miso soup upon arrival and an amazing salad upon ordering. Definitely recommend!

Meghan M.

Yelp
Best sushi on the planet. My family and I have been going here for years. They are so friendly and the sushi is so so good. I don't even live near it anymore and will drive to get it. I love Midori Sushi!

Erick H.

Yelp
Visited recently after not having been there in months. The place was busy. Sign in the entryway said "Please wait to be seated." So we waited. And waited. And waited. All servers and even the owner/manager made eye contact but then quickly looked away. We were completely willing to wait, but none of them greeted us, asked us to give them a few minutes or even simply acknowledged our presence. No verbal or nonverbal communication of any kind. I wanted to support this neighborhood business, but not anymore. Lots of other better places to dine in Las Colinas.

Neha M.

Yelp
Sushi buffets. Always a bit iffy on going to a place with sushi buffets. How often are they making their rolls, how fresh is the fish. All things I consider. Well, we had just got back from a Women's expo and were starving from walking around and getting a bunch of swag! So we found this on our nifty yelp app and decided to give it a whirl. We were waiting in our for 12:00pm to hit, so we can go inside and start. At least we know we are getting the first round of fresh sushi since they had just opened. They start the line with wasabi, ginger and other sushi condiments. Then soups (which I did not care to try), dumplings, and some fried items. Then the sushi rolls, they have everything you can think of, salmon skin, shrimp tempura, rainbow roll, california roll, spicy california roll etc! I did pick a few sushi pieces. I really wanted sashimi but they did not have just sashimi there, they did, however, I took some of the sushi pieces and ate just the fish from it. It was ahi tuna and salmon. very good! Then they had what I thought were oysters. When I got back to the table and ate one, it was so delicious. I asked the waitress, and she told me they were green mussels. Man were they good! Well we ended up taking them all, so we asked if they were going to be able to make more. She said she would have them put some more in the oven. This is where I give them the 4 stars, they were thoughtful enough to bring us a plate of the green mussels to our table instead of just leaving it out on the buffet table. very considerate of them, and again those mussels were delicious. I think I could come back for them alone. Lastly, they had mini desserts, brownies and cream chess were delicious, they are bite sized so you can easily just have one each and end your meal pleasantly with some sweets. They also had mini red velvet cupcakes, which I did not care for! All in all, come here if you are craving some sushi, but not for the best sushi......and definitely try them green mussels gurrllll!

Anthony L.

Yelp
Great service and good fresh sushi. Good prices too. This is our go to spot for sushi in Irving.

Michael M.

Yelp
We have been fans of Midori sushi for years. They are doing home delivery during the Coronavirus outbreak. Highly recommend supporting this great place during these difficult times by calling in an order and having it delivered!! Support our local businesses during this tough time and enjoy some wonderful food at home.

Denisse G.

Yelp
This place is my all time favorite I'm always bragging to my coworkers. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is a sushi lover

Marye T.

Yelp
Sushi is fresh, delicious, reasonably priced, and the service is excellent. I'll definitely be going back.

Alexis A.

Yelp
The best sushi in Irving!!!!!!! i somehow always end up getting the shrimp tempura along with the chicken tempura because they're good every single time!!! the sushi burrito will blow you away and just about every single item on the menu will not disappoint you!!

Karla S.

Yelp
This is the best sushi restaurant in Dallas: the fish is excellent, and the prices are SO reasonable. We now live ~45 minutes away, but it's worth the drive. We've only been for dinner, and we only order sushi (so I can't comment on the lunch buffet). Dinner comes with a complimentary bowl of miso soup and a sushi amuse bouche from the chef. As for the menu, these guys excel at the basics: sashimi/sushi/rolls of yellowtail, spicy yellowtail, salmon, tuna, unagi, and crawfish. For the most satisfying, best-bang-for-your-buck experience, I'd recommend focusing on these. We've tried most of the fancier rolls, too, and particularly enjoyed the Cactus and Viagra. They play a steady stream of 80s hits on the radio. They accept all major credit cards.

Breena L.

Yelp
Very horrible service. Everything took FOREVER to come out and we still never received all of our rolls although they all still popped up on the check. Waitress was slow and awkward. Would not recommend or come again. Currently been waiting for her to grab the check off the table for 10 minutes so we can go to chick fil a

Nimisha K.

Yelp
I'm not a big fan of Texas sushi (more of a purist),. This place is my favorite, and the only place I ear sushi. Family owned and they're really lovely!

Travis C.

Yelp
Pretty decent lunch buffet. You must get there before 11:30 before the rush comes in. If you have time, check out their wall of famous people. You will be surprised to see who has eaten here. Overall pretty tasty sushi with a good variety of sushi delights.

Kurt V.

Yelp
I came to Midori while checking out places in my new neighborhood. I was not aware from the outside that I was walking into a sushi buffet, so I was a little surprised by that. After looking at the sushi buffet and comparing it to the menu, the 11.99 buffet seemed like the way to go. The food was good, not great, but well worth the price, especially for the area. Some buffet highlights: -The hot items, such as chicken teriyaki, egg rolls, dumplings, tempura, etc. were kept warm, however there was no refrigeration on the cold items, i.e. sushi and rolls. -The tempura was light and crispy as it should be. -The chicken teriyaki was very nicely preparedwith a nice taste of char grill and teriyaki sauce giving it a great flavor. -The fried rice was really good with lots of flavors coming through. -The sushi and rolls were not bad, but not great. Once again, I was a bit concerned not of it was refrigerated, so I watched for fresh stuff to come out and went and grabbed it! - Dessert consisted of orange slices and cheesecake bits. Neither blew me away. They do draw quite a crowd, so plan on getting there early.

Rheba K.

Yelp
This casual and friendly place is super nearby so we frequent the restaurant quite a bit over the last 10 years! Lately we have been getting sushi to go but they are offering dine-in service. I have a shellfish allergy and they always accommodate me and make sure they are clean when prepping my food. I love the owners and the staff are always friendly. The food: BEST EVER SUSHI! we have never had a bad meal- never. not in ten years.

Catherine A.

Yelp
This place has been around for some time now. I have never had the buffet experience...and I don't think they force you to go that route. I ALWAYS love sitting at the bar and talking to the sushi chefs. My nigiri pieces are always fresh and tasty. They were even on " Hard Knox" Training Camp Dallas Cowboys when Dat Nguyen was dining in.

Emily W.

Yelp
Best sushi in DFW! I've been coming here for years! This is my favorite sushi place hands down. I've pretty much tried everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. The staff is so sweet and always have great service! I highly recommend you try Midori if you want authentic sushi at a reasonable price!

Wayne R.

Yelp
Not the best selection on the lunch buffet. Not too excited about trying this restaurant today. Looking forward to going back to my regular spots. The sushi that was available was somewhat bland. No real flavor going on. Ugh disappointing lunch.
