Long-running restaurant serving creative American cuisine in an intimate, art-lined setting.
"Stepping into Midtown Cafe feels like entering a time warp that drops you in 2002—cartoony cafe art on the walls, a pub-like bar, and black tablecloths complete the illusion. People often head here for business meals, and we can confirm it's good for appeasing clients who prefer a hearty pork chop to an experimental tasting menu. The food is decent, particularly the blackened grouper, but what makes it a classic is the excellent service. The staff goes out of their way to make you feel welcome—we've dined here solo before and the host and waiters were extra kind and chatty (in a way that felt genuine, not invasive). The restaurant also offers complimentary valet service in an area that’s notoriously thorny when it comes to parking, along with a shuttle for travelers heading downtown." - Bailey Freeman
"The soup of the day at Midtown Cafe has to be the most benched player of all time. For 30 years, people have been coming in, sitting down, and saying “I’ll start with the lemon artichoke soup.” There’s a reason for that: you don’t mess with a winner, and this absolutely is. The ingredients are simple — artichokes and lemons blended with creamy chicken broth — yet they create something that’s more than the sum of its parts: a tongue-tingling wakeup call to begin a meal." - Ashley Brantley, Jackie Gutierrez-Jones
"Charming longtime Music Row destination Midtown Cafe is a Nashville staple from Randy Rayburn. Open for over 30 years, the cozy little cafe known for its lemon artichoke soup transports diners back to Nashville before the influx of bro-country and bachelorettes. Midtown Cafe offers a free shuttle service for travelers to downtown hotels, and for locals who need transportation to downtown performances after dinner (must reserve ahead)." - Kellie Walton, Eater Staff
