12 Destination-Worthy Farmers Markets in Northern California | Eater

"Sacramento is known as the Farm-to-Fork Capital, thanks to the thousands of acres of farmlands surrounding the city. The Midtown Farmers Market is the largest in the city, with more than 200 vendors. It does Sactown’s nickname proud with a wide variety of the freshest produce, alongside vendors like the hot sauce royalty Insomnia Hot Sauce and the lamb-and-chicken-slinging Kebab Guys. And after the market closes, there’s plenty to see and do in the neighborhood as well; Midtown is one of Sacramento’s most artistically vibrant districts." - Vox Creative

The midtown farmers market is a must do at least once on a Saturday morning. Every Saturday morning 8am - 1pm vendors take over five blocks with the heart of the market on K and 20th. The market is full of food, drinks, fresh produce, clothes, trinkets, plants, artwork etc. and you are bound to find something you like. It is perfect for walking around with your friends, family, or by yourself. I love coming here and then walking around the neighborhood to try different coffee shops after. The market is perfectly located near tons of other small businesses and restaurants that you should add to your list of places to check out. The market does get very busy, it is least busy early in the morning and I would say most busy between 9:30-12:30. The market has been ranked #1 in California and #3 in the US which is really cool! Definitely come for the experience at least and support some local businesses and the greater community!

I wanted to love going here so much it has everything you want in a farmers market and then some and it's so busy and vibrant. The food is just the beginning, the music ,the artists, all the different vendors. It's really a beautiful market to walk through if there were no other people. I am disabled and use a walker when I do things the might require more walking then usual for me, and everyone I encountered from the general public here were extremely rude. Several even pushing me out of the way, one pushing me into my walker hard enough to make me bleed. I experienced multiple instances like this throughout my hour and a half visit. People not letting me get onto the sidewalk, cutting in front of lines, claiming my food order even. I hope this behavior by many is not the new way of the world. I have never in my life experienced to many ill-mannered people in one place. It was insane. I did get several vendors cards and will order online. I expected parking to be an issue, but it really wasn't. We found plenty. Do better Sacramento.

Fun! Lots of different wares, and lots of handmade goods available. There are fruit and vegetable stands and lots of prepared foods available, too.

Picked up some fresh produce and had fun browsing at all the stalls. There were food trucks serving many types of food. There was a flower stall selling fresh flowers including bulb flowers to plant. We were able to get some local honey as well. Definitely a fun Saturday outing. I will be back regularly.

This market is a super fun experience with lots of vendors and tasty food options. However, pets should not be allowed. Especially in the summer months when it gets too hot. People leave your dogs at home!! It’s too hot for them. I’ve seen so many dogs panting and looking distressed. Not to mention their paws burn on the pavement. Please do better for your dogs and leave them at home. The farmers market is a very stressful place for them. The market organizers need to do something about this.

This is a truly enjoyable family friendly or in my case solo friendly, way to spend a Saturday afternoon! There is so much delicious homemade food for sale, adorable handmade plushies, gorgeous jewelry, local honey, fruit and vegetables, beautiful plants and flowers, vintage clothes, and body care items. All of the vendors are so polite and knowledgeable about their products, and the best part is free samples and everyone accepts card payments! Plus they have a dj and little games in the center for kids :) Dog friendly 🥰
