I have lived a number of places throughout my adulthood and this has by far been the worst living experience I have ever had. Today (12/05/25) alone the fire alarm went off at 6:50am, and later when I went down to the garage I found that my car had been broken into. To be fully fair the new building manager, Brian, was in the garage when I arrived and seemed to be very upset this had happened, but that was about 4hrs ago and I haven't received any follow up.
the FEW pros:
Conveniently located - grocery stores nearby; route 2 bus goes downtown and stops directly outside building; can get to freeways easily. If you are carless and absolutely need to be centrally located and that is your sole concern then disregard the rest of this review. That being said there are 3 other buildings at this intersection that can achieve this same level of convenience.
As a shared space:
During the summer the courtyard is nearly always in use for events. This does mean each weekend 10s of strangers may be in the courtyard, some people love that, for me it was difficult. For me, it often meant having to strategically plan how I was going to leave the building to walk my dogs to avoid being catcalled by guests. I have been yelled at trying to pull out of my apartment during an art walk because attendants seemed to believe that no one living in the building could possibly have somewhere else to be. I did speak with the retailer who holds these events and let them know of my frustrations and was told they would work more cohesively with the building for Summer 2026.
Everything else:
-Management. Again, this is to ensure this review is entirely representative. The building has changed management companies as of the last few weeks so I am unsure what that will do to the building. But in the 16mos I have lived here I have seen the leasing office change personnel probably 3 or 4 times. This is the first time a whole new company has been brought in. The teams that I experienced seemed like they could care less about the building and tenants generally. While the current manager seems much more interested in making this place livable, it did take me over a month to get any sort of contact from the office regarding my intent to vacate. I had to submit my intent three separate ways, and upon receipt of December's rent charges I saw they clearly hadn't seen or acknowledged my letters because they had charged me my full rent. Additionally, in November I was called 5 days before rent was due and told by the office that the office had forgotten to charge me a $300 pet deposit and was now going to add that to my rent. I told them I do not understand how a mistake that they made over 14mos ago was now my responsibility.
-As stated in other reviews, the fire alarm goes off constantly, at all hours. It was so bad at one point that I had to stay at my partners place because I couldn't leave my dogs at home while I was at work.
-The building is always dirty. I live at the end of one of the buildings, where there is no elevator (a design issue to say the least) so the most convenient exit is a set of stairs. The stairs always smell like pee, human and animal sometimes. I have seen dog poop stay in there for days at a time before.
-THE TRASH. It is more common that I would go into the trash room and find the chute was blocked and the room was full of trash and/or recycling, than it was to just go throw trash away. The smell from the chute also permeates the elevator corridor of building A so if you're sensitive to smell tough luck.
-Security. In the time I've lived here I have made 4 reports of people sleeping in the stairs, and have consistently seen people within the building who very obviously did not live there. This is even more annoying because the building does not allow residents to have guest fobs for family members or visitors claiming the need for security. There is an emergency exit in the garage that malfunctions constantly and currently is just unlocked which I'm sure is how my car was broken into.
